The fourth, and final novel in New York Times bestselling author Kelly Elliott’s Meet Me in Montana series fires up the passion in a story about forgiveness and finding your soul mate.
Dirk Littlewood had the world at his feet and a life he claimed to love. He was a world-champion bull rider with plenty of women to keep his nights busy and make his inner loneliness nothing but a delusion.
Dirk’s life was exactly how he wanted it.
Until it wasn’t.
The moment Merit Eden showed back up in Hamilton, Montana, everything was turned upside down. Life changed immediately and then tragedy struck.
Merit was the only woman who could bring Dirk to his knees—and the only woman who could heal his broken past. If only he’d let her in, they could heal each other in the process.
The only thing left for Dirk to do was figure out how to not only forgive himself, but accept forgiveness from the only woman he had ever truly loved…if only he was strong enough to withstand the heartbreak.
Strong Enough is a stand alone novel in the Meet Me in Montana series, but for a better reading experience the order is as follows:
1. Never Enough 2. Always Enough 3. Good Enough 4. Strong Enough

I don’t know what to think, I’ve read so many enthusiastic reviews about this story, so I went at it with a lot of expectations, and I was sooooo disappointed, angry, sad. Because once again it was not what I thought it was. Hero and heroine have been friends forever in one of those small cozy nice towns in Montana where everyone know everyone, jeez the creepiness of that. Heroine has had a crush on the hero forever while he’s got a crush on another girl forever, that is also friends with him, the heroine and another guy, basically this is a foursome with the heroine the sad pathetic loser that no one wants. When she’s 18, the other girl chooses the other guy friend, so the hero is alone and makes out with the heroine. She even tells him she’d like to lose her virginity with him and he accepts, because she’s hot and he’s a manwhore in the making. Guess what. He says ow name while having sex with heroine. Of course after that she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. She leaves for ny and he leaves to become a bull rider and a manwhore extraordinaire. Ten years later. She’s back in the lil sad town because her family needs her. He’s back too because he visits his family. He tries to apologize, but what does he even want to apologize, that was just the cherry on top of a disgusting behavior, he had been neglecting her even if they were friends because he was always salivating after ow so what changes if he wasn’t thinking about ow. There are some sad and depressing moments, when the heroine has sex with him without condom even knowing he’s a whore, then him trying to ignore her because you know, his feelings are so confused and he doesn’t want a relationship with her. There are so many moments when she’s always put second after someone or something else. This hero might be one of the worst I’ve read recently. And this heroine is definitely the worst loser I’ve ever met in a while. I don’t know, maybe I’m different and weird, but I don’t find romantic when a hero has to basically be forced by an unexpected pregnancy to man up and tell the heroine he loves her. I don’t find romantic a hero that fucks everything that moves even after meeting with the heroine again, and having feelings for her, I didn’t find it romantic that a man doesn’t know his feelings for a woman he’s known for twenty years, and only chooses her because she’s pregnant, accidentally. I find it sad. I don’t find it romantic that a woman is in love with a jerk that never looked at her and only gave her a pity fuck calling her with another woman’s name, and after ten years and more she’s still there. I find it sad, depressing, and very dumb. I wouldn’t waste one minute of my life on such a guy, I understand when she was 17 and dumb and whatever, but then, she moved to ny, had other partners, even dated an actor, why couldn’t she fall in love with another man? This is not normal, not safe, not healthy. It’s not healthy to remain in love with a man that is only able to hurt you and put you second. It’s sick, twisted, dysfunctional. It’s wrong. She’s a complete loser. And he’s rotten and weak. Both deserve each other. What a waste of my time. Not safe, emotional cheating because hero is in love with ow first , then he’s bff with another woman he puts always before the heroine. Hero is a pathetic weak manwhore. Heroine is a loser who begs for scrap of attentions. Second hand embarrassment. Hero even admits he wouldn’t be with the heroine had she not been pregnant, he was going to leave town and back to his bull riding and his women. Awful.
Well... ladies if you like clean romance, vanilla romance, insta lust/ love, one dimensional characters, then you like Strong Enough.
For me, Strong Enough can not peak my interest until the end. I do like vanilla romamce for quick easy reading. But I do not like Strong Enough. Miss Elliot does not pack punch/ plot into the story. I did finish the book just because for the sake of finishing it.
I read an amazing beautiful story by this author and thought “wow! This is amazing, this author gets it”. So I decided to try another book, and what a let down. Always willing to split the difference, I tried this one and noticed it was exactly the same as the other awful story. I checked out a couple of others and what do you know, they are the exact same plot line! (Sexist garbage) Boy and girl meet in high school, boy screws up and hurts girl so that he can spend years doing the “boys will be boys” routine “sowing his wild oats” before settling down with the girl he could have had in high school ua know, if it weren’t supremely important to the universe that he have experience screwing hundreds of different girls first. The poor heroine of course, is practically a saint and is fine with him doing this as long as he remembers to throw out the I love you card. Because “love conquers all” even when it shouldn’t and makes no sense. This one has a little twist as we have to see over and over and over how he is focused on screwing all of the women and also get the pleasure to read about his love for another specific girl from when they were young. So a double whammy for the weak heroine to leap over when choking down the narrative that he really loved her all along. This wasn’t even a good angsty read! Because instead of weaving an interesting story, the author just goes instead just waives a magic wand towards the end like poof! Just a completely different story. At the end the author ignores everything that she just wrote and has him do a 180 and say he was in love with Merit the whole time. Um, ok... so nice of the author to just slap together an end with a pretty bow (even thought it contradicts everything else in this story). It’s pretty convenient since the other woman is also now dead. Heck she doesn’t even have to have him do anything redeeming, he just knocks the heroine up. She immediate forgets that he said another woman’s name after taking her virginity. She forget the ten years where he could not have cared less of her and instead had probably 500-1000+ one night stands. Ok, yeah sometimes this plot works. But not every single time, and especially in an interconnecting group of friends. But in this group, now all have the exact same narrative (minus the one that made me think this author actually had talent). Every book is like this. Guy supposedly 💕 s pretty the woman. Does nothing to earn her. She pines, he moves on over and over, he goes through women like underwear only to come back to the original woman. He wasted most of her younger years. He had a blast. He gets everything he could ever want and the sad pining heroine can finally say” I got him” yea that will show him them (insert eyeroll). It’s just so gross. I can’t help but picture these guys at some men’s club patting each other on the back and comparing their one night stands like “yeah one night I got these two strippers to...” hailing themselves for being men, while their women folk are barefoot and pregnant keeping the home fires a burning’ for ‘im. If the author didn’t want to set that narrative, she should have just mixed it up at least a little.

“The last thing I want—or need—right now is a relationship with Merit.” The sound of someone gasping caused me to turn—only to see Merit and Timberlynn standing there.
Tanner laughed. “Please, as if Dirk has any desire to settle down. I believe he once said hell would freeze over before he got married and had a baby.”
“You’re choosing another woman over Merit, once again. Kaylee is simply your new Kaci. Don’t you see that?”
You left me hanging to take Kaylee’s call. It was like all the times you left me for Kaci.
Seeing you talk about her baby while I was the one carrying your child, it reminded me of all the times I had to listen to you talk about Kaci and how much you wanted her. Do you have any idea what that does to a woman?”
“You would have given up anything to be with Kaci. You even said so.” I felt my face heat up, and I couldn’t look at her in that moment, because I had said that.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. But I can promise you right now, the one thing I know for sure is that I want to be here, for you.”
**Synopsis:** Merit and Dirk lived next door to each other when they were in high school. They were best friends, but weren’t willing to cross the friends line for fear of ruining what they had. But one night of passion changed their story and ruined their friendship. Fast forward 11 years later and they are once again in the same town and this time there will be no turning away from what they know is a forever kind of love. But first they need to be willing to let go of the hurt and anger from the way they parted in the past and move forward with their new future. ~ “Merit Eden has always been the one you’ve been afraid to give your heart to, because she’s the one who truly has the power to bring you to your damn knees.”
**The following are my thoughts about this book: **
* * Dirk was disappointing. The things he did, his actions. Not really the swoony hero I was expecting. I liked him better as a supporting character in the previous books.
* * the jealousy over the best friend got really, really old.
* * there was a hospital scene that was messed up. The guy was in a coma, so how can he be dizzy and lack coordination?? 🤨 ~ “My father went in to check on Brad and noticed he was suffering from some dizziness and loss of coordination as well as some memory loss. They just took Brad in for emergency surgery—he has internal bleeding and swelling on the brain that they need to take care of.”
* * the books in the series are low on originality. Some common themes continue throughout: highly successful career in rodeo, all men basically manwhores, someone is not ready to settle down, back and forth usually leads to someone pushing someone away (many times)
* * I enjoyed the five year look into the future in the epilogue. Good closure to the series
**Overview:** - Content Warning: alcoholic father, death of a beloved parent (health issues, on page) - Setting: Hamilton, Montana - Do you need to read previous books in series?: Yes. Recurring supporting characters that have a significant role in the story. - POV: Dual POV - Tropes: second chance
- Who is the Hero? Dirk Littlewood (age: 29). The current world Champion bull rider and poised to win another year. * The following words/phrases were used to describe Hero: not likely to confront things, runs from his problems, feeling “off”, discontent * H likable? He was frustrating and he disappointed me time after time with his words and actions.
- Who is the Heroine? Merit Eden (age: 29). A civil engineer in New York. She moved back to Hamilton to save her family’s farm. ~ “My family’s farm had almost been taken away from us last winter, but my mother had called me just in time to save it. I’d withdrawn every dime I could get my hands on to pay off a loan my father had taken out against the ranch. It didn’t help that my brother had tried to gamble to win money for the farm and lost.” * The following words/phrases were used to describe Heroine: spitfire, can’t let go of her jealousy, sometimes feels inadequate, lost, alone * h likable? she felt like a doormat at times. Also, her jealousy of Kaylee and Dirk’s friendship bothered me. She seemed stuck in the past and lacked personal growth.
- h virgin? No - First time they kiss: 27% - First time they sleep together: 28% - Safe sex? they were overcome with passion and realized they didn’t use condoms. - First time they say I Love You 70% - steamy? descriptive bedroom scenes - OW/OM drama? yes - H/h cheat? No - Time apart? they seemed to be apart more than together for the entire book. - Did I skip pages? No - Big secrets? No - Did I cry? Yes. Big fat tears 😥😥 - Did I laugh? No - Did I swoon🥰? No - Cliffhanger? No - HEA? Yes - Epilogue? Christmas, five years later. The epilogue was a bit short, but it wrapped up the series well - Recommend? overall the series was ok. Similar stories and characters in each book.
**Quotes** “I smiled, but it wasn’t a happy one. It was the kind of smile a person wore before they killed someone.”
“All I’m saying is, good boys may go to heaven, but it’s the bad boys who bring the almighty heaven to you.”
“Death had a funny way of making you realize how limited your time on Earth was. It caused you to stop and appreciate things more, cherish those you love, and be thankful for the time you’ve been granted.”
“What the hell is the yellow stuff?” “Lemon curd. It’s delicious.” He curled his lip, and I laughed. “You haven’t even tried it, so why are you making that face?” “Anything with the word ‘curd’ in it is a hard pass for me. Sorry.”
There’s something about Dirk Littlewood. From book one, Never Enough, he has been my favourite. With his past heartbreak and ongoing playboy lifestyle, I knew I’d love to see him find love.
Once best friends, Merit and Dirk haven’t been able to reconcile their relationship since one romantic night turned sour. Ten years later, back in town to support her family ranch from crumbling, Merit is adamant she’ll never again be a secondary choice for Dirk, despite the undeniable attraction they share together.
“All I’m saying is, good boys may go to heaven, but it’s the bad boys who bring the almighty heaven to you.”
This was a lot of push and pull, all stemming from insecurities and jealousy, but it really worked well for me. Trust is something these two, especially Merit, needed to believe in, and I loved seeing this relationship come together in the end.
“The only thing I’ve ever wanted from you was you. This. Us.”
Holy Angst Alert!!! If you’re looking for a book filled with tension and all kinds of delicious angst, then look no further. Strong Enough is just the book you are looking for.
Strong Enough is the 4th book in the Meet Me In Montana Series and it is sure to take your heart and emotions on one heck of a ride. Strong Enough follows the story of Dirk and Merit. Dirk is on top of the world. He’s got a job he loves and is good at and women who just drop at his feet. But the status quo isn’t living up to the hype for him anymore. He’s tired and looking for a change. So, when Merit blows back into town, you can bet, she turned his whole world upside down. You see, Merit is the only woman who could bring Dirk to his knees. Only, when it comes to Merit, Dirk can’t stop making mistakes. He is the pure definition of “foot-in-mouth”. Will Dirk come to his senses and win over the girl of his dreams? There’s only one way to find out…..
Strong Enough is a fantastic read from beginning to end. Dirk and Merit gave my heart a run for its money and had my feels all over the place. Yes, these two made me absolutely batty at times. Many years ago, Dirk broke Merit’s heart and Merit has never been able to move past it. When fate reunites these two, the tension, chemistry, and love is still there. But, being able to forgive and forget, is a whole other story. The road to happily ever after isn’t an easy one for Merit and Dirk. In fact, Dirk is going to frustrate you so much, you’re going to wonder how he’s ever going to redeem himself??
Strong Enough is the kind of story that is going to capture your heart from the very beginning and will leave you hanging on each and every word. It is a story about first love and heartbreak. A story of pain and moving on. A story of love, loss, and forgiveness. Merit and Dirk’s story will take readers on an unforgettable ride and in the end, leave a satisfying smile on their faces…..
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
I'm just going to say it........Dirk Littlewood owns my heart! I've been waiting for this story since we were first introduced to Dirk in Never Enough and Kelly absolutely did not disappoint. Dirk and Merit's story was about hurt, redemption, forgiveness and second chances. This book is full of emotion and all the damn feels so prepare to be swooned!
I hate when authors do this. The main character can be an asshole through the book but the heroine is long suffering and just lets it all go because he loves her. Sure he treated her terribly and only said he loved her after she got pregnant, but who needs pride? Boo!

Truth to be told - I am obsessed with these small-town type of books. (I am a city girl) Also no need to say Kelly Elliott is one of my favorite authors. I love how she adores where she lives, and you can feel it in her stories too. How she describes the view, the mountains, the field, barn with animals! Gah! I am totally gonna move there. I loved Dirk from the beginning, actually, I truly fell in love with every single character. This series about new chances, choices that you have to make, bravery - and family who supports you no matter what. And strong friendships. I just want to be with them. Merit is lovely as well, I liked her and how she acted - totally understandable. So many highs and lows, push and pull - and because of these emotions, I was expecting a bit more bittersweet ending. The ending was a bit too nice for me. I think it would have been great if we get a more realistic end, after all, we and they have been through. I recommend this series if you want to meet sexy cowboys. Light and fun, with amazing feelings.
I have absolutely loved reading the Meet Me in Montana series by Kelly Elliott so much. And now we have the last book in the series, Strong Enough, a second chance romance with so many feels. We met Dirk from the first book and now we finally get his story. I do suggest you read the series in order as each is about interconnected couples. They are each worth reading and I highly recommend each book.
Dirk and Merit have so much history and not all of it good. But now she is back and they can’t ignore the connection they share, but there is so much hurt between them too. In this story, we go on their slow burning journey as they reconnect, have ups and down and begin to see what they might share if only they can open up to it. I loved this series and this was the perfect ending for it.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog. Happy reading!
5 star reviews Strong Enough (Meet Me in Montana #4) by Kelly Elliott
I freely admit that when I see a book written by Kelly Elliot I read it. There is something about her style of writing, her strong yet vulnerable characters, that really resonates with me.
I love stories based in small towns and have enjoyed every book in the Meet me In Montana series. I have been eagerly anticipating Dirk’s story but starting this book was bittersweet as I knew that this is the last book in the series.
As with the previous books, I quickly became invested in Dirk and Merit’s story. What an emotional roller coaster of a read Strong Enough was. From the first to the last chapter I was totally engrossed in the story that Ms. Elliott wove; I laughed and I cried.
This was a beautifully written story full of love, forgiveness and hope. It was passionate, swoon worthy and I loved catching up with the other couples.
He is a bull rider that boasted he would never settle down. She left a career in New York to save her family's farm. They were best friends growing up until he ruined it. It's been eleven years since he broke her heart and neither one has ever forgotten the other.
Merit Eden left home at eighteen with a broken heart and a vow she would never return. Over a decade later she is back to save the farm from her father's mistakes. She was hoping she could avoid, Dirk, the boy, now man, next door who used to be her best friend. But seeing him after all this time brings back her worst fear: that she will never be truly over him.
Dirk Littlewood is officially the best bull rider in the world. With his goals achieved and his bed warmed whenever he wants, he still finds himself with an emptiness inside. When he learns that Merit, his childhood best friend and neighbor, is back home, he feels like the floor was taken out from underneath him. Seeing her at the family New Year's Party he realizes he truly missed her. Unfortunately, she didn't miss him and didn't hesitate to let him know they are no longer friends. Over the next couple months, Dirk can't get Merit out of his mind or his dreams. Desperate to try to fix his relationship with Merit, he tries to apologize for breaking her heart the way he did but Merit doesn't trust him. When Dirk gets a dreaded phone call while out on the road, it's his family and Merit that are there waiting for him as he deals with tragedy.
Merit has been in love with Dirk since she was a teen but he always chose other girls over her. That wound has barely scarred over when Dirk does it again. When tragedy and possibly life changing decisions need to be made, Dirk and Merit struggle to communicate. Once Dirk realizes his true feelings for Merit he hopes he isn't too late and that he can be the man she needs.
Dual POV, second chance romance, possible trigger: loss of parent and injury of MC, open door love scenes.
This one hurt. These two MCs hurt each other over and over again for more than half of the story. Their lack of communication and avoidance is heartbreaking. Once they finally get on the same page they are great together. Super sweet HEA and great Epilogue.
Bonus: The Shaw family is present as secondary characters.
Ok it wasn't perfect, but what the hell! I'm giving it 4 stars. It's completely mushy and a little corny at times, but I enjoyed it still. Definitely written better than her very first series. And it didn't have a gazillion POVs with sex filler. There was actually a plot. This is the fourth book in the series with this generation. Not sure I'll go back, but maybe 🤔. I know this author has a lot of recycled plot, but it's consistent, and I know what I'll be getting. I can't say I was completely convinced with the H's complete 180 of saying he loved the h Merit. There was a bit of a love triangle between the H Dirk, Brock, from the first book in the series, and a girl named Kaci that Brock ended up marrying. Spoiler Kaci dies and Brock marries his actual soulmate. Kaci sounded like a real great woman 🥴. Absolutely not though. Anyways, Dirk does the unthinkable and calls Merit Kaci when they're making love. Yeah, not a great start. Merit obviously, and rightly so is pissed. She's always had an unrequited love for her best friend Dirk, but he was always chasing after Kaci until she choose Brock. Merit begged him to take her virginity senior year of high school. Poor foolish girl. Anyways, she leaves. Dirk becomes the number one bull rider in the nation. Fast forward eleven years has Merit coming back to Montana to save her family's farm from debt. In-between those eleven years Dirk of course was a manwhore times infinity, and Merit had unfulfilling relationships with a couple of guys. Last guy being an actor from England. Hey! At least she wasn't celibate. Hardly any angst here as there really is no ow except the dead ow. You get Dirk leaving some random woman's bed in the beginning and his reminiscing about his ways, but that's it. Like I said I wasn't all the way convinced with his love for Merit, but she became pregnant of course and he finally stepped up. Basically saying he always loved Merit, but didn't want to ruin their friendship. Insert eye roll. It was funny because the side characters were also not convinced, but went with it 😂. Epilogue is five years later, and everyone is happy, and has kids. Which leads into the next generation.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 “No matter how much I wanted to hate him, he still made me feel weak in the knees.”
What You’ll Find: ✔️Cowboy Romance ✔️Second Chances ✔️Push Pull Dynamic ✔️Passion and Emotion ✔️Dual POV
Dirk is a champion bullrider. Living the life he wants with plenty of women to keep his nights busy. That is until Merit comes back to town. She’s only the only woman who can bring him to his knees. But it will take a lot of forgiveness to overcome their past.
My oh my. I have loved Dirk from day one. He is that fun loving, playful, swoon worthy cowboy. So I couldn’t wait for his story. And this one took me by surprise. Because we get to see so many other sides to Dirk, that will frustrate you, but also make you love him that much more. Merit is not much different, she’ll frustrate you too. But the strength that she has you can’t help but admire. These two have a connection that deserves that second chance. It’s complicated though. A push pull. But really beautiful.
There’s so many feels in this one. And emotion I was not prepared for. This one is about love and forgiveness. With an side emphasis on family. I have loved this whole family and enjoyed seeing more of them in this story. How they’ve grown and found their HEA’s. A great finale to my favourite cowboy series thus far!
Thank you to the author and @greyspromo for the free ARC for my honest review.
4.5 stars Dirk Littlewood, it’s about time we get his story. Gahhh! This boy will make you bang your head in frustration! He’s the most confused, stubborn cowboy to date. The Meet Me in Montana series has been my favorite reads from Kelly Elliott. Each one better than the last, and I love entwining the couples into each book. They’re one big messy family and I’m here for it. Merit was introduced at the end of book 3, with a history and childhood friendship with Dirk.
Dirk and Merit are full of spitfire tension that weaves its way through 75% of the book. Talk about building up to a big explosion of all the feels! I loved every page. Dirk melted my heart once he finally got his head out of his tuckus. Merit has always been the one to hold his heart, it just took him longer to get on the same page.
Kelly Elliott is a dream writer. Strong Enough is full of big feels, swooping, all encompassing loves and an HEA to make my heart bloom. I can’t wait for her next series!
**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**
Strong Enough is the fourth installment in the Meet Me in Montana series. I feel it could be read as a standalone without missing a lot to the story but you'll get the most out of the story if you read it in order as the author intended.
I think I say it with every book Kelly Elliott writes but this time I mean it, Dirk is one of my favorite main characters. Dirk Littlewood is extremely swoon worthy! I fell in love with these characters. Dirk and Merit have been mentioned throughout the series and finally getting their story was the perfect way to end the series. The relationship between Dirk and Merit is complicated but aren't they all? The second chance they are given is everything!
I always fall so deep into any world that Kelly Elliott creates and this one was no different. The relationships, the friendships, love and hate made this a fantastic series. I can't wait to see what lies ahead for Ms. Elliott where ever that world is, I know I'll find my favorite character there!
It’s been more than a decade since Merit left her hometown and it was only the threat of losing her family’s ranch that brought her back. She and her best friend Dirk had made so many happy memories during their friendship, but it was the one night she wants to forget that hurt her the most.
Dirk has his own regrets from that night but his way of dealing with them was keeping his interactions with women casual and short while he was on the rodeo circuit. Now that Merit is back in town will this be their second chance or is the pain of their past too much to overcome?
Merit and Dirk certainly don’t make their journey easy on them or on us. There are so many hurt feelings and heartbreak on both sides that you wonder if they will ever be able to find their way back to each other, but the ending is well worth the ride. The characters are captivating, their chemistry intense and catching up with all the characters we know and love just makes it that much better.
5 DIRK AND MERIT STARS!! OMG...I love these two and their story was phenomenal. Their story hit all my emotion buttons and kept me flipping pages. Kelly Elliott is one of my favorite authors and this book is why. You must read this book....do it now.
Strong Enough is a small town, second chance romance that was beautifully touching as well as steamy. The amount of angst in this book is just perfect. The story is decently fast paced and unexpected enough to keep you reading through to the end. This is the best book of this series.
Merit and Dirk's story is, at some points, so heart wrenching that I nearly stopped reading. But the author ensures that you are so invested in the characters, that you cannot put the book down. I finished this book in one sitting. It is that good. You know that Kelly Elliott's writing is marvelous when your heart aches for characters whom you met just a few hours ago. Merit's story and feelings are so beautifully put across that I cried through almost half the book. Strong Enough was one of the best books I have read this year and I know that I will be going back to read this again and again for years to come.
Merit Eden & Dirk Littlewood were best friends growing up. But when they graduated from high school, they pushed the boundaries of their friendship and after that night, their friendship is nonexistent. Dirk went on to become a world-famous bull rider & Merit went to college in NYC and pursued her dreams there.
It’s been over a decade since Dirk & Merit have seen each other but now they’re both back in Hamilton, Montana. Merit returned to save her family’s farm that is in serious financial trouble. And Dirk is visiting during a break from bull-riding. At first, Merit wants nothing to do with Dirk, as he broke her heart when she was 18-years old. But Dirk just won’t go away, and refuses to let Merit go on living without knowing his true feelings for her.
Dirk wasn’t supposed to stay in Hamilton long, but when his world is turned upside down, he ends up staying longer than expected. And even though he isn’t the settling down type, Merit and Dirk are both in for a rude awakening when they realize they’ll be in each other’s lives for at least 18-years after one hot night together...
Strong Enough by Kelly Elliott is book 4 in the Meet Me in Montana series. I really enjoyed Dirk & Merit’s childhood friends to lovers meets second chance romance. Dirk is one of those characters that keeps putting his foot in his mouth and makes you frustrated as hell, but you can’t help but love him. This has a trope I used to not be a fan of, but the more I read it (and when it’s done well) the more it’s grown on me. I’m so happy we finally got Dirk & Merit’s romance, but I’m sad to say goodbye to Hamilton, Montana! 4/5 stars.
Wow. Dirk is officially my new favorite leading man. Dirk and Merits story is one of honest to goodness true love. A must read and a must reread. It was always Dirk, Brock and Merit. Oh yes and Kaci. (But if you have read Brocks story than you know all about Kaci.) But let focus on Dirk and Merit.
Merit has always been in love with Dirk from the moment she saw him her eyes have always been to him. So when she asks him for a favor, actually begs him for a favor he gives in. But this favor what was supposed to be the most memorable experience not only leaves Merit with her heart completely broken by one single word. After this experience happens Merit all but wholes herself up and Dirk ends up leaving for the Rodeo. Because nothing is ever perfect.
Merit ends up back in town after her father has spent all her families money and their farm is now about to get lost. But she steps in and pour everything in to the farm and decides its time to stop running away come home. But when she comes home she also has to face the one man who owned her heart all those years ago but also broke it.
Now I could go on and on about Dirk but you will just have to read the book to find out what happens. But all I can say is that the push and pull between these two, the secrets that get exposed, the drunken nights, and one of the biggest secrets Merit ends up with just pulls you in. These two are perfect in every way and I truly want to hop back in bed and re read them.
Kelly Elliot has blown me away again! Truly an outstanding book.
NOOOOO!!! I don't want this series to end. This is a series that I totally get lost in. It reminds me of my youth, growing up on the Great Plains, spending my weekends watching friends at the rodeo and AAAUGH it just reminds me of home.
This final book is about Dirk - the honorary brother and best friend of Brock along with Merit, the girl who grew up next door and the one that got away from Dirk.
I must say I wanted to slap Dirk a few times, but I absolutely was sucked into their love story (I finished the book at 4 am) and was in tears over these two.
Merit moves back to Hamilton to help save her family farm. She was nervous about running into Dirk, her once best friend and the man who broke her heart so much that she's stayed away from home for years. She thinks she's matured enough, that she strong enough to move forward in her life. But once Dirk finds out that Merit is back home for good, and he finds himself wondering what life would be like if he allowed himself to fall, Dirk is determined to make Merit his.
Life doesn't go as planned. Merit and Dirk know this better than most. Merit tries too hard to resist the handsome Cowboy. And Dirk tries to be strong enough not to run, when things don't go the way he wants.
I full of a wide range of emotions, reading the last page. I can only hope that maybe Kelly will give us another glimpse of the family with a next generation. I would give this all the stars in the sky. LOVE!!
Dirk has been my favourite since book 1. Merit I loved how but I wanted to strangle her sometimes. She gave Dirk her V-card as a teenager and he said Kaci name. But he generally had no idea why and you can see he only loved her and he was scared to ruin their friendship as teenagers. NOW adults Dirk is fighting for her his first true love just, stupid Kaci still running his life (Kaci is a long story & she dead) I love that we learn more about Kaci and see how toxic she for for both boys. Kaci was jealous that Dirk loved Merit more than her hence why Merit took so long to convince that he TRUELY LOVEs her. There is also two surpise & one heart break in the series. I LOVE their ending so HAPPY ENDING 🥰 and there has been so funny moments 🤭🤣
Blayze the young charmer still puts a BIG SMILE on my face. I hope he gets a story when he older🙏
This is to me a second chance romance for Dirk & Merit and they were friend to lovers. But as adults Enemies to Lovers. Like I said when they where teenagers Kaci (who is dead) was a bitch and she has so much influence on Brook & Dirk. THANK GOD they both found the love of their lives. And we learn that Kaci played mind games on Merit too cause she was jealous of her friendship with Dirk. So I completely understand why it took so log to convince her the truth. Even from death Kaci is still getting in the way of TRUE LOVE
