“He’s a hockey star with a headboard full of notches. She’s a shy NHL concession worker at who’s never been kissed.”

Let’s reward the whore with a virgin so he’ll see Jesus when he deflowers her. 🥴😳🙄

Spoilers ahead, 1.5*

Unfortunately this one didn't quite measure up to book 2

Spoilers, mild ranting and obscenities ahead

1) In book 1 and 2 we met secondary characters Lily and Jonah, everyone loved Lily and it was clear she and her husband loved each other very much. Here Lily confesses to Lindy that she's pregnant and shortly after we're told she collapsed and died. Why was such a sweet and epic love destroyed??? Especially as she'd just found out she's pregnant???? If Jonah is paired with someone else at any time this author goes onto my fuck you very much shelf and will never see a penny of my hard earned cash again! Yes I'm that pissed!!!!!

2) Lindy has had a crush on Victor forever and a day, there initial meeting was cute and I looked forward to their sweet progression to their HEA......only he friendzones her for 60% of the fucking book!!!!! Until she starts dating someone else so of course he realizes that he really wants her and Lindy dumps what's his face to give Victor a shot

3) In the previous book we know Victor was dating the actress/model girl and he claimed he was falling for her, here we find out that there's public evidence that she cheated on him and they broke up 6 months previously. Before her Victor had quite an active sex life and since he claimed a one month without sex then it's clear he got right back on the horse. As a matter of fact he got aroused by a woman here and contemplated hooking up with her but changed his mind.

4) As a reward for the manwhore who only considered her a friend before another man wanted her, we give him the sweet, shy, never dated, never been kissed h who looked at him with stars in her eyes!!!!! I actually wanted her to have sex with what's his face before the H!

5) Her father and his friends would've made great secondary characters but they instead turned into a bunch of foul mouthed idiots for 85% of their appearances

6) The best friend wasn't just a slut she was a completely foolish one! Which sensible woman who's already a single parent consistently meets creepy guys on tinder and keeps having sex with them?? I wanted to sew her vagina shut and smack her upside the head! Thankfully she hooked a good one and was off the market

7) Another h who claimed to be from Southside and so could handle herself, bitch stfu!

it's clear to me I had a few issues with this book 😂😂😂😂

This one really didn't work for ME(caps, bold and underlined)

No cheating or OW or OM drama
Virgin h
Experienced H
H didn't have sex with anyone else after meeting the h
H was sexually molested as a child and was being blackmailed

Some people might think that a successful professional NHL player may have a lot to be happy about. Yes, money and fame changes things but it isn’t a magic wand that transforms everything in your life. Victor knows he is lucky to be doing something he loves and being paid well for it. He was not born into a life like he is living now, in fact it was the complete opposite.

Victor is going through a bit of a rough patch in his career, he’s struggling with his game and getting a lot of flack for it. Usually he would drown his sorrows at a bar, get naked with a willing puck bunny and forget his problems but that formula doesn’t seem to be working for him anymore. He needs to go back to the good habits he started his career with and reset, focus in the game and not get distracted by other things in his life.

Lindy works at the concession stand at the arena, the home base for the Blaze. Ever since she was a teenager she has had a crush on Victor Lane. In fact, she had his poster on her bedroom wall for four years and his lips on it are worn through from the many times she kissed him. She has been a fan of the NHL since she was young and is very passionate about her favourite team but most of her devotion is set aside for Victor.

One night, late at the rink she unexpectedly comes face to face with Victor in the flesh. They enjoy an easy conversation yet it is an encounter that will have a lasting impact on both of them. In fact, it is the beginning of a sweet friendship between them. Victor has never really had any sort of friendship with a woman he is not sleeping with and he loves how easy it is to be himself around Lindy.

The more time they spend together, the deeper their connection becomes. These two are falling for each other and nothing has ever felt so right. Victor knows that if he truly wants to go all in he needs to completely open up to the woman who is quickly becoming so much more than he could have anticipated.

This wasn’t a very long story but it has a lot packed into it and it was so damn sweet. Loved this latest addition to the Chicago Blaze series.

Victor is a slump, one that could put him back on the second or third line. Trying to refocus his head and his game Victor starts putting all of himself into extra practices, but a painful childhood secret keeps throwing up roadblocks. Unable to help stop this, Victor has no choice but it reach out and hope the justice system can do its job. Victors game starts to turn thanks to some advice given to him by an arena employee. Becoming fast friends with Lindy, Victor quickly realizes his feelings are on the fast track to love.

Lindy has a very loving yet unconventional life right now, its just her, her dad and hers dads best friends. She has grown up knowing sports and taking active role in cheering on her favorite teams. Lindy works in the arena where the Chicago Blaze player Victor is struggling to get his game back on track. Unable to resist she gives him some advice and watches him bounce back to his former self. Lindy never imagines that someday her crush would be falling in love with her.

I love this novel for so many reasons!!! Victor is so down to earth, kind, caring, and yet haunted by his childhood. He continually reaches out to Lindy while trying to be a friend and finally caves to the pull of love. He enjoys spending time with her and her father, quickly making himself part of the fold. Lindy is your average, everyday best friend; pulling double shifts without complaint because it means extra cash, dealing with the jerk boss because she can’t imagine working somewhere else without her best friend. Victor and Lindy have a spark right from the start, the tension can easily be felt and you know the romance and sweet. I couldn’t help but have a satisfied smile when Victor finally realizes he’s in love, and the sweet feeling of relief when they are able to move past his childhood and focus on the future. Ms. Rothert pulled all the right strings, she has me laughing, smiling, crying and angered, she kept me up late turning pages, I could not fall asleep without knowing how Victor and Lindy found their happily-ever-after. I will be certain to grab a copy of the next Chicago Blaze novel, she’s reignited my love for a hockey romance!

5 Victor and Lindy Stars

When the hotshot hockey player falls for the (extra)ordinary girl.

I’m the help. That event was for rich, famous people who donate to the Blaze Foundation so they can meet Blaze players. My only role was to carry around a tray of drinks and not drop it.

This is definitely my favourite book in this series so far.

Lindy is a loyal, quirky . down to earth hockey fan who works at the concessions stalls in the arena where the Chicago Blaze play. For years , the unattainable hockey forward , Victor Lane has been her crush.

I’m twenty-three years old. Too old to have a crush on someone who couldn’t be further out of my league. I should probably be sensible and accept a date with Manny, the janitor at the Carson Center who told Ari he likes me. Manny has yellow teeth, and he picks his nose. I just haven’t been able to bring myself to accept that this is my league.

One night they meet by accident - this has to be of the best ways I have seen a H/h meet- and Victor likes Lindy but he totally friend zones her.

This woman I just met a few minutes ago seems to believe in me more than I do myself. And it’s not just the blanket reinforcement all fans feel for the players on their team. She knows my strengths and weaknesses. Lindy is a student of the game of hockey

But slowly Victor starts to see all the good in Lindy and the girl he wanted as a friend becomes so much more.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about her every day, actually. She’s warm and funny. It feels good to be around her. Not just good, but…effortless.

I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. This is not an insta love. The character development was really well done. There is quite a lot going on in the background too but it never detracts from the main love story.

As a Hero , Victor ticks pretty much all the boxes. Seeing him fall for Lindy was like Kindle catnip. I was in my element.

My entire life, I’ve been an ‘I’—just me, all alone. Being a ‘we’ is fucking fantastic when the other half of it is Lindy.

Lindy is in my Heroines Hall of Fame - she is so beautifully written and I loved her from the very start - yes, she's quiet but she is so strong and is in no way a pushover. I felt Victor was the perfect man for our girl.

I really connected with this main character. I'm totally with her on not wanting to accept what "my league" is. It sucks, but maybe I have to. I know unlike Lindy, I'll never be lucky enough to have a hot hockey player turn out to be the guy I meet and fall in love with, and who falls in love back with me. But enough about me, let's talk about how good this story was. It was a page-turner. I really liked both characters, they were just real, and while I totally connected with Lindy, Victor was a bit of a mystery, but a good guy, even with how his life had been and the way he felt about women to start. There was a death of a side character what seemed really early in the story, and not one I would have seen coming. But that character's back story ended up being an integral part towards the end, that I see how the author tied it all together. I really like that we were able to get our two main characters falling in love enough before the end that the final obstacle or issue of the book was Victor's secret/past issue coming up to be faced. I liked that it wasn't some kind of wrench in their relationship. In some romances that just seems like how the author adds that last bit of drama, and I actually like it more like this book when it happens. I really enjoyed this one, and hope to go back and read the others in the series as well.

Victor and Belinda

Victor is a NHL hockey player. Belinda ( lindy ) is a sweet girl who works at a concession stand at the arena. She has a secret. Victor has been her favorite hockey player. She even had a poster of him on her bedroom wall. One night lindy works over night cleaning machines. During a break she walks down to the rink and Victor is there alone. Next thing she knows they start chatting. This is there story..

A cute romance between an ordinary girl and a hockey player. I liked that the main characters start as friends, and then they switch to something more (though that was part of the reason the story feels slow in the beginning).

So hot hockey star Victor is losing his edge. A chance meeting with concession worker Lindy has him back on form and an unlikely friendship develops.

This is a cinderella storyline. Lindy is the lowly, down-trodden staff member who impresses Victor with her hockey knowledge and passion. It’s a trophe which I really enjoy. I love a heroine who properly enjoys hockey and knows her stuff. I liked Lindy’s dad and their relationship. It was really sweet.

Why only three stars?

This was a sweet tale but missed the mark for me personally. It was a bit too sweet. Lindy was 23 and had never been on a date, never kissed a boy, never been asked out. This struck me as a bit unreal.

Victor just wants to be friends for a large portion of the book which meant no hot bits until over 60% of the way through. Then it all felt a bit PG. it just wasn’t hot. I was gutted that the author kind of rushed through the beginning of Lindsy’s sexual awakening.

The h’s first ever orgasm is mentioned in passing. IN PASSING! you wait 23 years for it and it’s mentioned like you just went to Target for some shopping!

This book could been so much better to my mind. It just never quite engaged me.

Victor (Chicago Blaze, #3) (ARC) was graciously provided to me by Inkslinger PR for an honest review. I have voluntarily read this book and have provided my honest opinion.

  "A Heart-Breaking, Gripping, and, Heart-Warming Read"

A sweet, heart-warming, squeal-worthy, yet absolutely gut-wrenching, addicting read has the emotions of this reader vying for attention as the after-affects of this new read vary between greatly stunned to a desperate needy state of warmed loving goo that teeter back and forth as a result of a recent read of a particular hockey team once again..

WHOOP!  WHOOP!  "He passes the puck to Anton..to Luca..and..what's this??  What's happening sports fans??  The lightening fast missile goes right back to Victor and he..he...SCORES!!!"  *fans cheer loudly*  This is what it feels like when I read a new story from one of my most favorite tropes..Hockey!  Pure excitement fueled by high-levels of adrenaline..YES!!  *fist pump*

For this, I may have screamed just a wee bit upon discovering the next release from the Chicago Blaze Series was due to come out because each of my reads from this series has been a great one..

Victor..oh sweetheart Victor..I have waited not-so-patiently, ever since the first book of the series, to read about this mysterious yet very intriguing character.  And, boy, it has not been easy to wait as there have been tiny snippets throughout the previous books as to the character's great potentiality.  But..BUT...once his story presented itself, it's overall storyline was so incredibly mind-blowing and beautiful and one of those that had me needing to squeeeze hug not only Victor but also sooo many other characters of this story.

Victor, by Brenda Rothert, was quite the read.  This friends-to-lovers story was such an endearingly heart-warming read that I actually didn't mind it's slow pace and slight steam.  But, one thing I can attest to are the shocking blast-in-the-face kind-of-moments that are typically rare for this reader and for this are generally avoided whenever possible.  This story has major triggers that were beyond shocking that blindsided this reader like a quickly moving intermittent and painful storm.  Moments filled with childhood abuse and illness, death, and, extortion were severely difficult to read.

I loved the overall theme of this story.  Victor, is a strong, gorgeous and mighty hockey player on the exterior.  But, on the interior, a deeply hidden tortured individual as he is a product of an indescribable childhood filled with pain, isolation, and abuse.  He is someone who, understandably, has spent his life looking for some sort of validation that he is actually worth more than what he had experienced.  In his quest for that security blanket kind of love, comfort, and success, he runs into Lindy.  As a walking encyclopedia of hockey knowledge, this hard-working, multi-talented, humble, kind concession stand worker, Lindy turns into this Florence Nightingale of warmed-comfort for Victor just at the right time, as the beginning of the end for him, in more ways than one, was quickly approaching.  As discussions at the rink turn into dinner and movies, as both seemingly different individuals begin to unearth actual similarities, quiet insecurities and hidden fears turn into a strengthening loving bond for them both..

Throughout this story, there were plentiful cameos from characters from previous books, and, it was no surprise how much I continue to squishy-love the main and secondary characters from this series.  They are all wonderfully realistic and unique that it is super easy to quickly become addicted to their lives as well.

Therefore, like a frigid blast to the face during a blizzard, as I read through this story, full of so many sub-plots, some that were massive and heart-breakingly brutal, it was difficult for this reader to completely understand the purpose of some of them and their connection to the main plot as that which was indicated was slight and limited.  With a need for more depth and development to some of the sub-plots as well as the actual main plot, a true connection between the main characters as well as an overall storyline connection would be more clear.  It is also in this reader's opinion that to have the actual moments described in detail rather than glanced over would be beneficial for that overall well-rounded connection between the characters and the actual storyline as well.

Despite the shocked confusion of this storyline, in the end, it was truly an intrinsically beautiful, gripping, and, heart-warming story.  There were so many uplifting and encouraging security-blanket type-of-support, that these loving times had me gushing all over my kindle.  I adore the main characters from this series and am glad to have read more of their hockey world..:)

Victor is a star player for the Chicago Blaze but if he can’t get his head back in the game his first line position is in jeopardy. It is speculated that his break-up from his most recent celebrity girlfriend has him tied up in knots, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Victor is hiding something dark from his past.

After an adorable meet-cute Victor tried to friend-zone concession seller, Lindy, but soon can’t seem to get her out of his mind and dreams.

“...our happiness can’t be contained in words. It’s in the warmth of his touch and the gleam of his eyes. It’s in the beat of my heart,”

This story is low angst, but deals some sensitive subjects that will have your heart going out to these characters. Victor is book three and a standalone in the Chicago Blaze series.

Full Disclosure time - I am a huge fan of hockey romance novels (HUGE FAN) and this is my first Brenda Rothert book. Victor and Lindy are adorable. Their first meeting is in an empty hockey arena. She floors him with her hockey knowledge and he surprises her by being down to earth and approachable. They become friends and eventually more. This is a very sweet romantic book and I look forward to reading more from this series.

Brenda Rothert delivers yet another wonderful book in the Chicago Blaze series. Her heroes ( hockey players) and heroines ( the women that love them) are complex and we see this deftly in Victor and Lindy's story. Their meet cute centers around Victor Lane is doing a late night skate at the Ice Arena where Belinda or "Lindy" Boring works in the concessions area. While the two may have shared the same air space, it's not until this moment where things get interesting

This was a great read on so many levels. I love that Lindy is an everyday girl who is focused on work at the stadium where her favorite team plays. She does live a simple and somewhat sheltered life. At twenty-three she mostly just works and watches sports with her father and his friends. There is nothing glamourous about her but she is such a genuinely good person. Her innocence makes her endearing and an easy heroine to root for.

Victor is a player facing a bit of a slump, one that jeopardizes his role on the team. When he and Lindy finding themselves becoming fast friends it's clear they have a connection. But at what level? Could either of them hope for more? He's not exactly in a place to explore this, and I love how he recognizes her as his first female friend. Her influence on him is both strong and yet subtle. He has some demons to face and in Lindy I think he finds the person who can show him the way. Seeing the transformation of Lindy and Victor as individuals, and as a team, is heartwarming.

I don't even know if there are more books planned for this series but if so, I'll be reading them. I've really enjoyed getting to know this community of players and friends and I look forward to reading more by Brenda. 4 Stars and recommendation.

Who doesn’t love to see great things happen to good people? I know I do! And I loved to see Lindy and Victor find their happily ever after!

But it wasn’t easy. Not at all.

Lindy needed to move out of her comfort zone—to embrace life more. To enjoy living in the moment versus just living. And Victor helps with that—he’s larger than life, and also her secret, long time crush. Which is something Victor doesn’t let her forget. LOL

And Victor. Man, he’s hiding in plain sight. Hiding his true self, that is. And also hiding from his past—or so he thinks. He’s afraid of losing himself and his family—his chosen family—if his secret is revealed. But with Lindy, he finds hope and acceptance and love.

And it’s awesome. I loved how Victor and Lindy’s relationship grew from friendship initially to something so much more. I loved how they loved each other, and how much they realized how much their family and friends truly supported them and loved them too.

Victor is a bit more emotional, a bit deeper than the other books in this excellent Chicago Blaze series, but it’s a fantastic addition. I can’t wait for more! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

Your covers are so hot!!! I'd buy the poster!!

This was the sweetest book I've read in a long time. This young lady was such a real every day Chicago Southsider living with her widower father. They are a great family.

Victor is an elite NHL player but came from single mother who was drug/prostitute. He even took bus home from his chemo treatments as a young kid. Despite all his background he excelled in hockey by working hard.

We like these characters. Lindy is innocent and while Victor dated actresses and models plus slept casually with groupies he has a good reputation for hard work until he starts a decline in his stats.

He accidentally meets Lindy who is on break from her concession job at hockey arena. She sweetly encourages Victor with the areas she sees him needing improvement. He enjoys her candor.

This book has some depth with a teammate losing his wife at age 28 and
Victor also has a past that he's got to deal with.

This book was a true joy to read. I'm putting it in my favorites of 2019 for a possible second read!!

In a sea of bad books, Brenda Rothert is always my life raft. Opening one of her books is comforting knowing I'm going to get top-notch quality writing, a great cast of eclectic characters with a hero and heroine you love to root for, and a story that is engaging, emotional (there's usually a gut punch or two in there), unique, and generally hard to put down followed by a book hangover. And her hockey writing is always on point.
I don't have enough words of praise for Victor! Victor & Lindy are the most unlikely couple that fit together perfectly. They've both overcome past hurdles (some of average size and some of very unusually large size) to get to where they are today. They both can help each other without even knowing they can. Their story is awesome! I've read almost all of Brenda's 30+ books and Victor is definitely close to the top of my list of favorites from her!

I devoured this amazing 5 star story that consumed me from the very first page read to the very last one.

Victor is a professional hockey player that is struggling to maintain the first line status. Lindy works in concessions at the arena. This is like a modern Cinderella kind of story.

I loved this amazingly written sports romance. These characters were just perfectly lovable. Lindy was a fierce and strong heroine. Victor had all kinds of facets. He had deep and heartbreaking secrets. This story was addicting and captivating. Highly entertaining. Bottomline is this is a must read.

This is the third book in the Chicago Blaze series. Although it can safely be read as a standalone. For better enjoyment, read them all in order. Told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.

I went into Victor, not having read the previous two books in the Chicago Blaze series and can attest that it can be read as a standalone. I think most women have felt like Lindy at some point in our lives and can appreciate her character. I applaud Breanda Rothert in writing about an athlete with a past like Victor. I've read less than a handful of books with the male lead that is the one and not the female. It wasn't the focus, but did affect the story and relationship in a realistic way. This may be my first book I've read of hers, but won't be my last.

This is the third book on the series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Great friends to lovers premise. Victor and Lindy seem to be an unlikely match, except for their love of hockey. I love romance that take the time to build that friendship and trust before anything goes further.

Loved Lindy's friends and family. I loved how Victor made her feel like she was worthy. Only a little bit of hockey in this one. Not my favorite of the series but still a great romantic read.

Nice story.
Shy virgin heroine.
Cinderella type situation.
Hero has some dark secrets from his past.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Hero's ex cheated on him but not much detail of their relationship and the Hero is offered a ONS.
Heroine goes out on a date with a workmate as the Hero has told her he and her are just friends.
I wasn't keen they don't start anything romantic until at least 55%.

HEA.

Not having a family to support you and then finding a perfect stranger who treats you like the person you are and not the athlete that you are can make all the difference. This is what Victor finds with "Boring".

Blue ICEE and 3 old men will keep you laughing.
