Lurking beneath the surface, a monster waits. Possessive. Dominating. Alpha.
Aver Walker isn't one to make waves. He's steady, calm and sensible. He and his cousins have carved out a good life for themselves and things around the Walker house are finally starting to look like normal. Their version of normal, anyway. And Aver couldn't be more miserable. He's been living a lie, hiding his sexuality and his nature. No one realizes his rational demeanor is a facade and it's getting harder to hide the dominating beast lurking beneath his skin. The only time he can be himself is when he leaves his home. At the end of each trip, he has to tuck his true identity away. The task was never easy, but he always managed, until he met the man who made him want to be just who he was for every moment possible.
Self-professed guardian gayngel, he helps those who need his help, too bad he needs it the most.
Hollister is the first man to know, family isn't who you were born to, but who you choose. He hasn't survived as long as he has without hope, a whole lot of luck, and the best friends a man could ask for. Now, he does what he can to help those around him. His job as a fortune teller on the pier pays only so much, but he doesn't need much. He has his friends, and they have fun, like the night they go clubbing and Hollister's life changes forever.
Every time Aver returns home, he lets go of a life he'll never get to live. But after a weekend with Hollister, Aver refuses to shove the memories, or the man, behind him. Hollister makes him feel like he could have everything he wants, his life in the pack and his man by his side. But, as things once again begin to heat up on pack lands, Aver is split by the two sides of his life. The pack needs a leader--once and for all--and the Walker house sits in conflict. Without their matriarch, they are flying blinder than usual and the decisions they make now will change everything.
Love is the fourth and final book in the Wolves of Walker County series. It's packed with the romance, jokes, loyalty, and love you've come to expect from the Walker men. Love answers that question everyone in Walker County has been asking, who will lead the pack?
For maximum enjoyment, this quartet should be read in order.
I gotta admit, I was a little weary about Aver’s story, as he always seemed like he was just too meek and kind of a pushover. But then hot Alpha Aver came in full force and I was there for it! It was so so good! Although a lot of this “new” Aver was not the best, it was so wonderful to see him come into his own and become the man he was destined to be. Hollister was fabulous too, and he complimented Aver so perfectly. I loved the explanation for all the questions of how everything came to be and what made the blessed ones (I NEVER saw it coming and it was perfect)! Horrible parents were, of course, horrible; but it just made the cousins and their mates stronger in the end. We finally get to see who becomes the Alpha and I LOVED it. Just a great story, and series, all around; I highly recommend it and can’t wait for the spin off!
The storyline and character development was not nearly as good in this book. There were too many gratuitous sex scenes, some underwhelming “emotional conflict” moments and too little plot exposition to suit me. Hopefully this is the last book in this series. Most of the story threads begun in the first book have been resolved, and those left are less than needed to continue. There is a weak tie in to a new series, but nothing in this book or the new series preview was enough to hold my interest.
3.25 🌟's. I'm going to miss these guys! Maybe they'll appear in the spinoff. 🤞 My only complaint is the time frame from book one to now was months apart, but the years after leaving their pack is an 8 year difference from book one to this book.
Definitely enjoyed this one! We're past all the initial confusion that plagued Riley and Phin with the blessed/pregnant/shifter transformation stuff, so we got more focus on the relationship (and steaam) and pack drama. I was very interested in getting Aver's story, I was pleasantly surprised how it shook out considering how he had behaved in the past three books.
As the 4th and final book in the Wolves of Walker County series there is only one cousin left to find his HEA: Aver. Aver is the always agreeable, almost timid cousin we have seen in previous books. He is the only cousin who is not out and willingly continues to visit his parents in the main pack. I stated this book is about Aver finding his HEA and while he does do that, I think this book is much more about Aver finding himself.
The sweet and shy Aver we have come to adore...well... he doesn't exist. That Aver is a mask he wears for everyone else. It is the Aver everyone knows, while the real Aver is locked in a box inside himself only brought out during weekends spent sneaking away into the city. Shy is not a word I would use for the real Aver, cause that one is all ALPHA. Dominant and possessive, a man who gets what he wants when he wants it. I never would have guessed all that was hiding underneath the facade until Hollister came along and let it out.
With Hollister, Aver could be himself. He didn't have to play pretend. He didn't have to always be agreeable. Aver was in charge and Hollister let himself be led. The power plays and steam in this one were off the charts. It was made all that much more jarring when Avers "two" lives collided. He couldn't wear the mask any longer. It was suffocating him. He wanted to be who he was and he wanted to be that person while being with Hollister and still caring for his family.
While I was not expecting the story to go in the direction it did with Aver and his secrets, I did expect that the Elders would still be up to their manipulating habits. Since this is the final book I was hoping that once and for all they would get what was coming to them and oh boy did they ever. I was pleased with how everything ended up with the pack and the Walker cousins. Aver had been right, you shouldn't punish the entire pack for the motives of the few.
The book ends with a little glimpse into what is going to be a spin off series. Hero is about Jazz whom we were introduced to as one of Hollister's mysterious friends from the city. I must say his flighty nature intrigued me. I look forward to seeing what mischief he may be getting himself into.
This was by far the worst one. I thought Hollister was boring and lacking depth and he wasn't really on Aver's side too many times, especially when Aver really needed his support. Why focus on the cousins when you, Hollister, should focus on your mate?! And when the cousins, mostly Branson, separated Aver from his mate for 2 weeks+ give or take, I was so appalled. AVER is the MMC, I didn't want to read about him being controlled by the others especially Branson.
And also, why even go that far? this was Aver's story, why make him look foolish and submissive in front of Branson who thought he had the right to banish Aver and actively stop Hollister from seeking his mate who was stuck in the forrest with no food or water for weeks. I'm not joking, Branson legit said "Because I wouldn't let him" when Aver asked about it meaning he wouldn't let Hollister go to Aver even though Hollister wanted to. I would've punched Branson if he was real. I don't understand the author. This was between the two mates, why involve outsiders to this degree? I just don't understand. I could accept if Branson and the cousins wanted to keep Hollister away from Aver for a day or two but why did the author have to make the period of time so long? It left a bitter taste in my mouth and effectively ruined the entire book.
Who the fuck does Branson think he is to decide Aver has to do this hard penance in the woods and for so long?! And after a good amount of time when another cousin came to talk to Aver, he said Aver's still not allowed in the house nor is he allowed near Hollister because Branson's "putting his foot down". WHY GIVE BRANSON THIS MUCH POWER OVER AVER WHEN THIS IS AVER'S BOOK?!
They all acted like idiots in their own books; they were possessive and aggressive when it came to their mates but when Aver displays the same type of behaviour, they vilify him to a degree that just went too far. I'm not saying this behaviour was okay, what I'm saying is they're fucking hypocrites and so is the author. This book showed me that most likely the author's favourite Walker alpha is Branson and Aver probably comes last. Why even give him a damn book? WHYYY? if you were gonna pull this sh*t on us?
I strongly hope people don't waste their money on this book because I think most of them will be sorely disappointed.
First this book and then series review. I bought this book amazon and it was cruel to say it was ready and make me wait hours more....
Trying to not reveal much...so if I am vague that is why
So, we get Aver’s story and his secret life. For all the build up, what he does was done in a blink of an eye or a chapter or two. His mate meet was more contrived than the other three.
Hollister never really does anything with his gay angel (not sure how to spell it) persona. It is front and center of book blurb and that’s about it.
Lawrence makes no sense to me. None. If only from having Riley around....but okay.
Aver had every right to be mad at his pack (true family) not supporting his relationship like the others demand he do.
The snit fit? I understand that Aver was a tad overboard (or a lot), but all the alphas were. The punishment was ridiculous—even if it was self given. Branson’s comment of “I won’t let him” made me want to bash his nose in.
The romance is hit or miss. Author needed to wrap up series and introduce next. Bring on Badger!!!
Where was resolution on “punishment” pack doled out? How is that resolved.
If you have not read series this book won’t make a lick of sense. If you have, I hope book four was as awesome for you as book two was for me.
————- Series Notes SPOILERS
The author must live in my part of the world. Kansas. Riley. Lawrence. I know I am forgetting something here, but it is 3am and I am losing it......(giggle)
The series wrapped up both too much and not enough. I did not like time jumps and would have preferred more clarity in timeline.
Branson is an only. I have read all the books now, but when he first sees Paul he thinks of his nephew.
I was glad to see some discussion of birth dates. It was a loose end that was addressed.
Where was magic birth at when I had my kid?
Overall, a full world and enjoyable break from quarantine. I give the series 4.25
I hate when characters act out of character. Aver may have had an epiphany, but that doesn't explain what he did pre-Hollister. Every other character also acts crazy, and a lot of it isn't explained it resolved.
I also didn't feel like I got to know Hollister. He doesn't get to use his ability as much as the other guys did. The book is really all about Aver becoming a more alphahole version of himself.
This is the end of the series, so everything is expected to wrap up. It didn't happen like I expected. That might have been fine. Sometimes, that is awesome. This time, not so much. I felt like characters weren't acting like I knew them. Also, a major plot point from a previous book is ignored.
I finished the book, but don't feel compelled to read the next series.
This was one heck of an ending and I love it. I also love that there’s a spin-off coming from this. But what I really love is that in the end, it’s finally how it should have been all along. I knew this story was going to be a doozy. With Aver having to hide himself for so long, I knew it would take someone truly special to finally make him break down those walls to be himself. Finally. And he found that in one of his trips to a gay club, in a young man named Hollister. But what neither of them know, is actually how much they tie in together already. And it isn’t until some things happen, that it finally sinks in on how much the fates or whatever are involved. But it isn’t going to be an easy thing. The time for the interim alpha is up and manipulation is flying around everywhere. From Aver’s parents, to Delia, who is still locked up. And then they realize that all the Elders but one, have been in on all this from the beginning. And the boys are disgusted. And with what the Elders are pulling, it’s time to fight back and put a stop to it all. Especially when Hollister’s gift reveals a lot. But with all that’s being revealed, it means that someone is going to finally have to step up as an alpha. But what the Elders don’t realize, is that in their greed, power and manipulation, they made some very bad mistakes. And now the time has come to pay. But will it end in a good way….or bad? I knew this was going to be a tough story. I knew it. Between Aver going to finally have to come out, the Elders and the boys parents being the way they are, the behind the scenes back-stabbing and everything else, I knew it was going to be one heck of an ending to this series. It was going to be bad for the boys too, because all their lives, they’ve only had each other, and now with Aver changing, it feels different to everyone. And it’s not going well. But what each of them has to take the time to realize, is it’s exactly what the Elders and parents want. They want them split up and fighting. And I hate what they’ve had to go through in these stories. It’s been horror for all of them. In some form or another. I hate that their lives are just like play things for their parents. It makes me sick. And without Nana being around for the boys as well, they feel like they’ve lost their biggest anchor of all. So yeah, I bawled in this one bad. There are some scenes in this one that just tore me a new one. It was a hard read. But in the end, it’s worth it. That’s what we have to remember. In the end, the pain and everything is worth it, if they need to set the balance the way it should be. I hate they had to go through it all, but it’s how it should be now and should have been all along. I actually thought the alpha thing was going to turn out a little different than it did, but I’m happy to see how it did end. No one was more deserving.
What an awesome conclusion to this series. I loved finally getting to know the real Aver, yes there were moments that he was extremely angry but there were moments when it felt like everyone was against him and considering the other alphas’ had a lot of moments when they were angry but maybe because Aver took it too far with Nash so it’s not a stranger. I know if someone tried to harm or keep one of the other mates from them they’d be angry, it also could be because when Aver came back from Seattle and they found out about Hollister Aver seemed like a completely different person so maybe they didn’t know how he’d react. It probably didn’t help that he was spending time alone at his parents so to his cousins and their mates it must seem like he’s pulling away towards the pack that’s bad news. Even though Hollister is a self-professed guardian gayngel and that he helps people who can’t help themselves but nothing was really shown how he made it work. I liked the connection between Aver and Hollister but there seemed to not be as much romance as the previous books but I still think they suited each other really well. I wished Nana was featured more in this story as she was one of my favourite characters. I’m glad that Aver came through in the end for the better of the pack and him and his cousins, they made sure the right person is in charge that a new era that Alpha Patrick Walker wanted before he passed away. I also liked that Branson found a letter written to him, Aver, Nash and Wyatt from his late father which kind of explained the arrival of their blessed omegas and their powers. I’m looking forward to reading the Wolves of Royal Paynes series next and getting to know Jazz, Hollister’s friend and to see why his dad has sent mercenaries after him. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
I didn't like Aver. In fact I hated him so much I needed to push myself to finish this book. It was going to get a 2 to 3 star rating max because of how disappointed i was. I thought this was a unique opportunity to maybe read a book about an alpha who is perhaps mis-gendered (is that the term?) I was hoping for that with the way his book was set up. Instead we kind of get the alpha who is every stereotype. And his attitude meant we get less of the family feeling the rest of the books have, less of the brotherhood. He doesn't just reject the cousins, he disrespects their bond even though they're the only ones who stand by him and his lover when absolutely necessary.
What saves this book is that there are consequences. He realizes his mistakes because people call him out on it. As someone who has worked with hundreds of domestic violence victims, i appreciated that the level of violence and anger he showed even though he knew it was scaring his lover is not acceptable. Once you go down the road of saying scaring people with anger displays is okay, other things become okay too. So I liked that he doesn't demand forgiveness and get it, that he relies he messed up and there is eventually forgiveness after work.
The twist at the end with the pack- pure genius and definitely not what I expected but everything i wanted. Bravo!
So yes, the book redeemed itself. But I still couldn't give it 5 stars because at the end I maybe moved to not hating Aver but he is definitely my least favorite.

What a stunning conclusion to the Wolves of Walker County. My old friends welcomed me back with open arms. I went into their lives willingly. Fated mates, blessed children, old enemies, and a coming out to end all outings. The story races to the concusion, leaving you on the edge of your seat. Oh, and keep a fan handy, the sex is that hot! You are going to love this book! Aver is living a double life. Able to be fully himself, Alpha & gay, only when out of town, he isn't looking for forever. Then he meets Hollister, and knows he can't let him go. Hollister takes a chance with Aver. Not understanding the instant attraction, he just knows he wants everything with Aver. Join Aver & Hollister on their road to HEA. On the way, all your questions will be answered. The Walker cousins will come into their own. A new blessed baby will be born. Nana will return. There will be a new Alpha for the pack. The conclusion will leave you gasping. What a rush! This is a continuation of the Walker saga. I recommend reading the first three books in order. Time. Well. Spent. The ending does set up the next series. I can't wait to read it. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
3.5 Stars. I love this universe and read the two series following this one first. It was nice seeing characters from later again, before they found love and the world was explained more. Although I didn’t enjoy this series as much as the other two, it was still fun to read for the most part.
I just didn’t like how the timeline kept changing. In Truth, Branson claims at the beginning nearly fifteen years have passed since the 18th birthday fiasco but toward the end of the book he says he’s 28 and it’s been ten years. Ten years seems to be the consensus for the following two books. But then suddenly in Love, Aver says it’s been nearly 20 years and that he’s almost 40? The children are all still babies, so clearly ten years haven’t gone by between books. This sudden change was confusing and disconcerting. The same thing happened with Paul’s age. He’s 18 in book one but 20 in book three. Add the typos and switched character names and I had to take off a star. The other half I took off was because I also didn’t like Aver’s story as much as the others. Hollister is more one dimensional than the other mates were, too, which was disappointing. I wish there was more to his character besides being horny for Aver all the time. Literally the first third of the book that’s all he is. We don’t even get to see his first meet with the mates - it’s skipped over.
Not the best situation when you want to read the book just to get it over with and find out how it all ends. Aver actually surprised me, pleasantly, because I was so ready for skim-skip-reading and it didn't really happen. It was still mildly repetitive, I still disliked that popping out the babies made the "mate" into wives. They cried during the sad stuff (unlike the cousins), they got left behind and generally treated with more care. I started reading m/m and found it so great because it has two guys! Because I didn't have to get annoyed or angry or sad because the female lead became the male-made archetypical Woman, that wasn't allowed to do or couldn't do much, that saw the Love Interest, established he's the second coming - because he's hot, and hot guys are obviously what every woman needs - and she let him handle almost everything. And other stuff.
Also, I would at least look forward to some poly stuff with Jazz but the next series being about 5 wolves finding their mates? And having babies? Whoa, that's some new, creative content!
Kind of recommend but for me, it was somewhere between nice-on-the-verge-of-too-boring-to-continue. Sometimes, it's hard to say you give up when there is nothing really wrong, except not enjoying the books that much.
Take a walk on the wild side. Aver, spends his time hiding his true self. He is so deep in the closet, he found a new species of dust bunnies. His Mother, is constantly setting him up on blind dates with women. He is stressed and has extremely negative reactions causing his cousins to regard him with pity. He relieves his stress when he goes to town and allows his alter ego, Mr W free to masquerade as an open, powerful entitled confident man. Hollister, has a found family in Sam, Sprinkles, Jorge and Jazz. They keep eyes on each other when they are out and about. Aver and Hollister, had an instant connection when they were in the same room. After spending the night together, Aver asks Hollister to return to the island with him. He expected to have a a mini vacation with Hollister in his private house, but life as he wanted didn't go as planned. Does Hollister have a special gift? Do they mate? What will the cousins say? What will the elders do/say? Unexpected complicated conclusion tot he families problems. New relationships are formed, old relationships are dissolved. Nice story. Aver, underwhelms. Interesting story.
Just annoying when another alpha like Branson is inserting himself in Hollister's and Aver's relationship and when he said he wouldn't "let" Hollister come see Aver, i thought that was crossing the line. Ruined the flare in Aver and Hollister's relationship in my opinion, felt like they both were being controlled by the other Walker cousins. What, like you can't get mad or upset with your significant other without the over-the-top interfering by someone else? And Branson had asked Aver to leave and didn't apologize afterwards when he realized it would've killed Hollister if Aver actually did leave the grounds.
Idk I just felt like the cousins and even Hollister were being too hard on Aver... it was so weird... the literal freeze-out was uncomfortable to witness because it just made me mad at the Walkers and their mates and his "punishment" which was 2 weeks+ outside in the cold but they didn't offer for him to come back even once? nor do they bring supplies before the two-week mark? TWO WEEKS WITHOUT SUPPLIES FROM HIS SO-CALLED FAMILY AND MATE. just wtf kind of book did I read?
And Nash saying "Branson's putting his foot down" even after 2 whole weeks makes it seem like Branson is the Alpha of the Walkers... huh? and even though Aver's anger had dissipated almost immediately after that night, that anger being Branson's excuse for keeping Aver away, because of his "rage"-- I think it's total bullshit. Branson seemed to be punishing Aver for his own grievances towards Aver. I would understand if Aver stayed away for a few days and Branson "put his foot down" for a few days but 2+ damn weeks makes absolutely no sense, what the hell was the author thinking writing that. Ugh this entire book makes no sense like how can Hollister even sleep at night in Aver's cousin's house, in Aver's bed, fully knowing Aver is sleeping in the woods, with no supplies for 2+ weeks, and in the cold... especially if you're in love with the guy lol, it doesn't make any sense.
I feel disappointed in the author for writing it this way. Major letdown.
And then Aver and Hollister make up like nothing happened, dont even discuss how Aver was forced away from him while he was pregnant. It just doesn't sit right with me, no matter how many times I go over the entire situation.
And Hollister was doubting Aver a lot in the book... and when he said "that will kill your cousins" after Aver asked "would that be so bad?" regarding if Aver ever became the Alpha of the Walker County - it sounded like Hollister didn't have any trust or faith in Aver. Aver, clearly in his mind, may have wanted to get back at his parents but he also had the entire pack in mind, thinking of them whereas Branson was saying "Each person in the pack is free to leave. If they stay, that's their own choice." This showed Aver was thinking of the entire pack and its people whereas Branson was once again being a judgy prickly dick and only thinking of himself and his cousins because he was too narrow-minded to see how others would be affected. AND AVER NEVER GETS ACKNOWLEDGED, WTF.
I don't feel as if the cousins, Branson, Wyatt and Nash, ever had Aver's back - not even once - in the entire book. They kept pushing their negative opinions on him over and over and when the opportunity struck to put down Aver in front of his mate, Branson especially jumped in quickly by telling Aver to "go fuck himself on pack lands" while keeping Hollister in his house. They all acted like Aver was going to beat up Hollister when he just wanted to be with him because he was scared and hurt.
Branson's comment of "I won't let him" as in he wouldn't let Hollister out to see his own mate also made no sense because after weeks of locking Aver outside, Branson should have realized Hollister had to, no, needed to see Aver. It fucking makes no sense to me why Branson would keep his cousin away for so long from his mate even if Hollister wasn't miserable. Branson was basically puppeteering everyone until he came to see Aver to "allow" him back. Ugh it felt like a power-play situation where Branson had clearly gotten the upper hand.
Also, this entire series has put humans down multiple times. For example, the Sheriff being so clueless and dumb was hilariously offensive.
Also a bit unrealistic how Hollister in his mind is able to so quickly adapt to the pack life and pack terms and in his mind, he gets angry at the elders as if he's been there forever, it was super unrealistic and a bit annoying.
And at the end when the mates were crying on the Alphas' shoulders and pissed for their children while the Alpha mates were merely pissed... like huh? Stereotypical much?
Too many things I didn't like in this series. It felt like Branson was the Alpha of the Walker cousins and their mates and if he didn't like something, he'd force it on the others. It felt like he was very threatened by Aver throughout the book and he was being a shitty cousin by telling Aver he's not being himself over and over. I didn't like Branson and his judgemental snooty attitude in the other books and I despised him even more in this one. What a jackass. I hope he and his hypocritical cousins took the time to say thanks to Aver after he saved their asses at the end -- cuz say what wht u want abt Aver, like him or not, he was a damn genius and Branson was being a dumbass even right before. But ofc they didn't say thanks to him though. i rlly wanted one scene where branson and the others would be grateful to Aver and even apologize but nope.
I don't understand why the author wrote Aver to suffer the most out of all the cousins when they all made dumb mistakes in their stories, and they were so crazy about their mates and wouldn't let anyone separate them from them but it was okay for it to happen to Aver? Aver was coming out of his shell and then all of a sudden, the author punishes him for it... huh??
Kiki I sorta liked some of your older series but u completely missed the mark with this one.
Love was not the best decision made by the author. She couldve done so much better and more than this crap show.
Things I didn't like in this sorry excuse of a book: - Branson. - The other cousins as well. - Hollister not taking Aver's side more than once. - No one having faith or confidence in Aver throughout the book. - Branson cutting Aver's balls off during that particular part - Aver sticking around for weeks in the forrest, he shoulda left, Hollister didn't deserve him nor did the others, all the cousins had their anger moments in their books but I dont know why this author decided to punish him more and the longest. - Still confused about some things - Boring new characters including Hollister - dumbass ending and conclusion - the walker cousins were honestly selfish and shitty people if you really think about it. The introduction to the new men of the next series was far more interesting than this entire series.
A plot full of twists, turns, and surprise ending.
Aver was always written as the quiet cousin of the four but in the 1st chapter we are shown his hidden side. He was always the one to acquiesce to his parents, members of the Elder Council, as he was so deep in the closet, he would never come out to them; unlike his cousins who wore their sexuality proudly. Only when Aver went to Seattle did his other Alpha nature come out to play at his hobby and play hard with whatever human or omega he could latch onto. In this closeted circle he was "Mr. W". It's while on his monthly visit he sees Hollister, the unassuming young man Aver becomes immediately attracted to. Hollister is a proud and out gay who along with his friends Sam, Jorge, Jazz, and Sprinkles come to dance the night away but also to avoid entanglements. All in this group had at one time been abandoned by parents and/or society and now lived by their wits to survive. Hollister was the breath of fresh air that Aver craved and needed. But Fate has other plans for these two as attraction to each is instantaneous and with Hollister colorful lifestyle Aver saw how he dreamed his life should or could have been if he hadn't been so afraid to accept himself for the true person he was.
This final story has familial arguing, in-fighting, backstabbing, vicious parents bent on personal ambition, lack of respect for the pack, murders, kidnappings, blessed children coming into their own, and lot of love to spread around. This is an honest and voluntary review for the ARC I was given.
This was gorgeous. Helped me get through a really difficult few days. Her books are the absolute best. 5 big stars for this one. It was beautiful and I couldn’t put the book down the entire time. This entire series was such a breath of fresh air. I feel in love with the Walker cousins. They really stole my heart. I also loved each of their special fated mates. Kiki never disappoints. I have now read all her series except kif warriors, akar chronicals and omega assassins. I’m also eagerly waiting for the wolves of Royal Paynes to come out. Anyways just about to start Malik (kif warriors) n I’m so excited. Kiki burrelli is just the absolute best. I wonder if she knows that she makes so many peoples days just a little brighter with her books. Because she sure did make mine a littler brighter and allot for hopeful.
Okay I'm very disappointed in this book I feel like it was still Questions with no answers for example what really happened to Patrick Did Delia kill him??? I really didn't get the letters either??? The whole series had a lot of unanswered questions in my opinion.... But really explain to me how in the 1st book which was Bran’s book All of them were just 28 years old but by the time we get to Avers book their 38 that's a 10 year jump What the hell was that all about all the kids were still little everything seem to be happening months apart it just didn’t make no sense.. I hate when it seems like authors don’t know what they wrote in their previous books it totally kills the story and that just was the icing on the cake for me about the series and this writer.. I don’t know if I’ll read any more books by this author will just have to see.
This was really really really bad. I despised Branson and his weird controlling of whether or not Aver gets to see his mate, even just the idea of Aver being locked out and forced away from his mate for weeks is ridiculous. But the author actually did this. The timeline was ridiculous, the author def messed up there. I was okay with Aver but felt he was neutered by his own cousins and his mate and I hated that Hollister allowed him to suffer outside alone for so so long, he could've put his foot down and stood up to Branson. I still cannot wrap my mind around all of that. Hollister as a character was not that interesting. The whole series wasn't that great but I didn't expect this level of bullshit.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I don't understand how this book has the amount of 4-5 stars reviews that it has, I think people were paid to write those.
The whole plot was wrong and off-putting. I started to really dislike the other three Walker cousins, especially Branson. Aver was the one who came up with that brilliant idea at the end but no one thanked him.
Let's not forget when Aver was barred from seeing his mate and not only that but forced to stay out in the woods for what I think was around 2 weeks, more or less. Total turn off. I wanted to deck Branson hard for his attitude and words before and after that whole sequence of events.
The series ended with this mess of a work, can't say I'm too surprised, the books are pretty much hit or miss types, this was a definite miss. Waste of time.
I liked Aver sorta, he was imperfect but I liked him. I thought he was more man than the other cousins. I didn't like the cousins in Aver's book, wish we never even saw them. Branson for some reason really wanted to get his rocks off by dominating Aver and by keeping him from Holister. Pity the auhtor did it this way, she kinda sucks for such a lame book where the main hero came off as a pussy whose own cousins were able to get the better of him and his mate who didn't defend him nor stand up for him once. I hate mates like Holister. The fucker was pregnant yet couldn't insist on seeing Aver during that long period of time Branson and the others locked him out of the house.
This fourth in the series brought on a few more tears then the first three but when you are wrapping up a series sometimes you get more. It is well written- answers questions and gives you the same love, loyalty(although tested) and family as the other stories. The humor is still there and the connection that each alpha has with their omega. But the connection between our omegas is also deeper and the children just make you smile.
We have many unexpected moments to a certain degree but if you read the other stories they won’t be a complete shock to the system.
I like attention to detail. I know there is always going to be some small discrepancies between books when you read a series. However, the timeline in this last book kept ruining it for me. In the previous books in the series, it has been a decade or ten years since the cousins were forced to face each other for the Alpha position. Now all of a sudden in this book, it has been almost 20 years since the cousins left the pack. But at the same time only months since the last altercation that left Delia in prison and Nana gone on a journey of grief. I couldn’t let that small (big) detail go and didn’t enjoy the book as much because of it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'll start off by saying that for a good portion of this book I was so frustrated with Aver I wanted to strangle him. All the people around him giving unconditional love and it was like he was oblivious for far to long. Thankfully about halfway thru he pulls his head out of his ass. Thankfully the story doesn't end here and we still have the Royal Pains series to look forward to! And lastly and probably the biggest spoiler of all (in this review atleast) Who knew Paul would turn out to be such a fucking badass! From meat offering to leader what transformation ❤
I, Delphine, solemnly swear that this book is utterly horrible. Hehehe. But seriously I didn't expect Branson and the other two cousins to be such dicks in this one. Branson had been a dick in the others but he was so awful in this one.
Aver's progression was nice but it took a dive when the author decided to vilify him and even if she did that, fine but I could never comprehend how she wrote Branson to be that power-posing and to be controlling Aver's time and his connection with Hollister. The writer must really love and favor branson. Someone needed to put Branson in his place, I hated him so much.
I found it absolutely FRUSTRATING that there were so many timeline issues with this book. All four cousins are the same age... it has been hammered into our heads for the past 3 books. Also, they've been on their own for 10 years. NOW Aver is supposedly pushing 40 instead of 30, and the cousins have been on their own for 20 years... aloha and beta readers didn't catch that??
In the hottub mates scene, Phin is speaking, but is written as Nash... Nash wouldn't know what it's like to be preggers.
I wasn't sold on the switch up of Avers personality either. The whole sit in the woods and pay for penance... then the wrap up of the baddies and then we set up for the next series.
Seriously, after 4 books and a plot that was getting more and more complex and interesting, this book gave to the series the perfect closure. All what happened through the end, from Aver finding Hollister, passing for all the intrigue and corruption inside the pack, the resolution of a murder, to the most intense and amazing, Alpha's selection in the story of alpha selections, this book tied up all the loose ends. I strongly recommend to read the books in order, because, believe me, you wouldn't want to miss a single word. Loved it!
