The idea for writing TEAM came after the 9/11 attacks when search and rescue dogs were used to find victims and possible survivors in the rubble. Why not have a dog help find the hostages and rescue them with his handler. On hikes and walks I would carry a note book and write down ideas for the story. And of course my inspiration and co-worker LT. has been to all my booksignings and also signs the book.
While there is some decent information in this book, the writing is painfully poor. It looked legitimate from the cover but I if you can’t proofread your self-published work to avoid typos and can’t write decently structured sentences, it’s pretty hard for me to take your work seriously. Also some of the information about yoga is flat-out inaccurate (no, yoga nidra is not the standard ten minutes at the end of a yoga class). The author claims to have been a clinical researcher at a hospital but his credentials are never really presented so it makes you wonder if he is legit. There are definitely more readable and credible books on this subject out there. Don’t buy this one more or less by mistake like I did.
This book was okay. The tone seemed to be kind of treating its principles like a one-size-fits-all solution. I think it would have been more effective if Francis had shared his own experience instead of just saying, "trust me because I did this." As far as the content goes, it was interesting, but the writing style wasn't my favorite. However, it was simple and easy to understand. I would say it was worth reading once just because it was such a short and easy read, but I wouldn't read it again.
This has great information and is an easy read! This will be useful to a lot of my patients when trying to explain the nervous system and the vagus nerve
