Isaac is back with Layton. Layton was the person who took him from the vanilla world and taught him to be a slave. He liked to save people, help them. After initially giving Isaac his freedom he then teaches him again which is fine by Isaac as he gets to play with another slave but then he realises he's in too deep and must make decisions...
I loved the dynamics between Isaac and Layton. The way Layton works so hard to help. It’s absolutely breathtaking. Isaac is incredibly strong. The author did an amazing job creating fully developed characters and I can’t get enough of them. The angst, the feels, this just had everything I could want. My heart at the end...This series just keeps getting better and better.
I didn't know where to put him, because he wasn't even a thought in the first book, so I was sceptical about him. (I still haven't read Julian's book, so Layton was a really new character to me, a new character I fell for. HARD) Layton was and is everything. The center of Isaac's universe, and the best thing that could happen to a slave. (not kidding, I'd be a slave for Layton too) Layton's book opened my eyes and I saw my errors toward the first book. Rourke wasn't someone who needed my attention so I let him go while I hated him for what he did. Julian piqued my interest and his and Layton's relationship is that kind of story what wet dreams are made of. (but I had to wait to the very last book to see more of them)
Stepping straight back into this world, Layton continued Isaac’s story. Back to his beginnings, and safety.
“I cried, not from physical pain, this time it was my mind that caused my agony.”
I loved-hated-loved Layton. He knew his boys. Knew their limits, understood Isaac. He was perfect at assessing everything they needed to survive their life.
Hidden from Kellen, separated from Rourke, Isaac’s journey was not sweet, or gentle. Layton broke him down, punished and cared for him. All contradictory, yes, but it’s his method. He reconnected the two separate identities his mind required to survive. At times, allowing him to both seek and give pleasure, not permitted before.
Sim! The dynamic was interesting, I could easily see Isaac becoming something more in this life. Allowing him to be a caregiver, not just a $lave gave him purpose. Layton still held tight rein over them.
Enjoyed reading again and reconnecting with an author who pushes boundaries. Not a series to be taken lightly.
I loved this book! It picks up right where book 1 leaves off so you get to see what happens to Isaac after he's left in the hands of Layton. Layton who brought Isaac into this world. Layton whom I had a hard time trusting at first. After everything Isaac has been through I had a hard time trusting anyone, to be honest. He said and did the right things, but that didn't mean they were in Isaac's best interest. Though it didn't take me very long to fall for him. As is became clear he really cared about Isaac. This book is all about Isaac and his healing. He is so much stronger than he thinks and it was a joy to watch him blossom under Layton's care. And then the author goes and rips your heart out. I was expecting some pain. It's a series and an intense one at that, but I was not expecting to feel all the emotions that I did. I'm terrified of book 3 now. I just want Isaac to be okay.
It took me a good while to go on to book number two in the series. Mainly because the first was so intense that I needed to be in the right state of mind to move forward.
Isaac's recovery is an emotional one, as he learns to find his way past his trauma and take pleasure in his submission again. It brought me to tears more than once.
Layton was the perfect person for Isaac, the way he pushed his limits and still gave him comfort. He had so much love for Isaac. After watching him with Sim, I could easily see Isaac be an asset in guiding fellow slaves at the start of their journey.
Hopefully Layton will be for the long run, even after Isaac's decision.
This second book in Isaac series explored further of the world Isaac is in, and his healing through his true Keeper , Layton, who loved him, gave him strength and set him free to need and want, even through punishment in the fiction world of slavery. Isaac found his need and want for pleasure, and to be set free for what he is craving for. This book is beautiful and touching and full of feelings of different emotions. Really enjoyed this one and will continue to follow Isaac’s journey.
First let me say that is review is for the first two book in the series and I cant wait to read book 3. WOW!! I can’t believe I haven’t read this author before and I can’t wait to see what else they have. The first book has a scene in it that I literally had to keep putting the book down because it was so dark and scary. Like chills and nausea at the same time! The emotions in the characters are unbelievably good. The book is hot as hell but definitely a DARK romance.
The premise of these books is definitely unique, and the author can write some very HOT scenes. However, as with the first book, the writing itself is poor and the grammar and punctuation are abysmal. It's so bad that it was constantly pulling me out of the story. I truly do want to know what happens to Isaac, so kudos to the author for making me interested in his story.
I must say i loved layton! I really disliked the ending and was crushed with baby boys decision.. I personally dont trust Kellen. Will there be more of layton and isaac!? I definitely hope they find their way back to each other again!
Loved this book! It was for sure not as dark as the previous one. But I loved the relationship between Isaac and Layton. It was interesting to see all the changes Isaac went through during the course of this book and from the previous book.
Isaac needs time to recover and his keeper is not able to help him. He is sent back to where it all began, to the man who found him and taught him to be a slave.
