Trapped in a lie…
God had finished with Ginger Snap. She was sure of that when she put on boys’ clothes and cut her braid. Trouble was, living the lie gave her a full stomach and a safe place to live.

Forced by his father…
Theodore Edwards knew the Lord had called him to help me. If only his father believed that his son’s education as a lawyer had been a waste. Instead, the man bribed him by offering to pay for seminary if his son spent a year working as a lawyer in wild, barely settled town of Kearney, Nebraska.

Attraction and an unscrupulous boss have Theodore second guessing everything he knows to be true. And just why does the mysterious Ginger Snap keep disappearing?

When it was good, it was can’t put down good, but…

This was such a good book, but with a little more execution could have been an excellent book. There were quite a few very confusing parts within several chapters. This could have been easily fixed by adding either story breaks, or one -two transition paragraphs.

This is an action, and emotion packed book with both predictable and surprising twists throughout.

Loved this story!! Theo and Ginger were great! Bass was an extra bit of wonderful thrown in!! Theo learned that God can us for good in many different professions, and we can make a difference no matter where He leads us, as long as He's the one leading and we listen! Theo learned the lesson well!! Ginger had had it a little rough, but she didn't let that bring her down. She still remembered the lessons her mom had taught her, and still listened to God's leading, though she was forced to lie by her stepfather. Everything comes out great in the end!

I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

Ginger Snap
Lockets and Lace, Book 25
By: Marisa Masterson
Narrated by: DL Merlin

Ginger Snap is a pleasure to listen to! Marisa Masteron creates a story of intrigue and suspense surrounding Ginger Snap. Unable to inherit land as a woman, she pretends to be her "brother" Guy. Theo, a young man on the path to become a lawyer has reservations about his chosen profession. Feeling the calling to become a pastor, he is pulled in a different direction. Now when he catches Ginger in pond, it becomes truly evident what God's plan is for these two. Thrills, danger, corruption, and love all come into play in this wonderfully written story. I love Ginger. She is full of spunk, and is willing to do whatever she needs to. Theo is a man easy to fall for and together these two make an entertaining story.

DL Merlin is a new narrator to me, and she gives a wonderful performance. Each character has their own voice, and she easily transitions from male to female voices. Love her accent too! I enjoyed her performance and look forward to more.

It's always a treat to read a historical western with a different plot (with a lovely cover also). Ginger Snap was forced to disguise herself as her deceased brother, Guy, to inherit a farm in Kearney, Nebraska. Theodore, who was recently graduated from Yale as a lawyer wanted to continued on to a seminary to become a pastor. However, family pressure took him to Kearney to intern with his uncle in his law office for a year before his tuition would be paid. Everything became muddled when there was collusion between the town's sheriff, the uncle lawyer and others to defraud widows of their property and steal a gold catch. Here, Theo had a chance to right a wrong while wooing Ginger who interchanged as Guy. Slightly suggestive but mostly clean story with some violence typical of a 1870s western that proved fast-paced and entertaining throughout.

I listened to the audiobook of this story. Narrator was convincing of the characters. The storyline was interesting. Ginger Snap is forced by her stepdad to portray herself as her brother Guy. This would enable them to get an inheritance and live a better life. Ginger goes along with this farce, until she meets Theodore, Theo. Is it love at first sight for her, but Theo thinks she is a boy. They start working with each other, on a case, since he is a lawyer about land deals. Theo is getting suspicious about Guy. Can it get any worse fir Ginger.

Ginger ❤️ Theo

A real fun read. The family was called to Nebraska for the reading of the will. Guy Snap was to inherit the farm and all that was on it and the money in the bank. Only something had happened to poor Guy just the day before. Step-Daddy cut off Gingers hair and the lie began. She took the place of her brother, inherited the farm and began a prosperous life with the family. But…you know there is always going to be a problem eventually. Have fun reading this story.

Interesting story

A clean, sweet story of a young lady who needed rescuing and of the young man God sent to the town to save her and it. There is suspense, outlaws, soldiers, betrayal, friends, helpful pets, love, compassion, and romance. Very easy to read writing style. I enjoyed it.

I guess just not my cup of tea. I think I like my protagonists and romantic leads a little more involved with inner turmoil and broody. I think the pacing could have been faster and the plot could have moved better, but if u like nice clean romances, it might be for you.

Exciting!

Fantastic story. Watch how Ginger overcomes the loss of her immediate family and creates a new family for herself. See how Theo also comes to understand himself. No foul language or sex.

I was drawn in by the cover and the fun name. I was not disappointed! The narrator did a crazy Appalachian type accent that added to the enjoyment of this audiobook!

Ginger Snap/Guy Snap are one and the same, but are they truly. Can one tell the difference at a glance? Theo Edwards has come to Kearney, Nebraska to help at a law office at his fathers order.
Ginger feels she is on the wrong side of God now after agreeing with her Step Pappy to disguise herself as her brother Guy to inherit a farm from her uncle after he passed.
She befriends a woman in town who will help her when she struggles, when she falters, and when she needs to escape. Theo is on her side as well, he just isn't aware at first it is Her side...
Can these two overcome the huge chasm that lies between them and find a life together?
This book is the best yet by this Author! I truly love her books and was given an ARC to read. The review is my own opinion.

A delightful story of a young woman forced to pretend to be her own brother to inherit and a young man who studied to be a lawyer but wants to go into the ministry. When God brings them together in a most unexpected way, He seems to have other plans for the two of them. Come and she God uses them to help each other discover His plans and thwart some bad guys in the process. A fun read by a wonderful author.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Wonderful characters! Great story with intrigue and romance. I found myself holding my breath when Ginger was trying to keep from being found out as Guy Snap and all that unfolded with the land grab. Ginger was so sweet and caring for her family even if they were only family through marriage. Theo looking for his place in life found God had him right where he was needed, and a beautiful caring women to fall in love with. Excellent story!

Inheritance, impersonation, and intrigue make for a nail biting page turning read. A microcosm of good and evil characters in society - a drunk stepfather, evil stepmother, crocked lawyer, an ethically lawyer, and law enforcers. A Cinderella story and more. Marisa Masterson has a way with words from her descriptive writing, to the fast moving plot, and the unique names of Ginger and Guy Snap. Inspiring read on overcoming adversity.

What a superb book. A young lady whose stepfather is just plain mean. When he finds out his deceased nephew inherits a farm, he makes her dress like a boy (since he REALLY wants the farm). And so the deception begins. Even though she meets a man who she REALLY does not want to deceive.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
