The Conspiracy: Episode 2

Rate this book
Candice Strachan can’t breathe.

A small jewellers is raided in Guildford High Street and leaves police chasing their tails. Reports suggest that it's The Crimsons, an organised crime group the police have been hunting for years.

The device wrapped around her neck is suffocating her, crushing her chest.

But for rookie detective, Jake Tanner, something doesn't seem right. The heist doesn’t fit any of their previous patterns. And the last time Jake met them, he was staring down the barrel of their gun, bargaining for his life.

The men who put it there have left her to die.

When the shop owner is kidnapped and a collar bomb is attached to her neck, Jake learns one of his own is involved – a police officer.

Her life now rests in Jake Tanner’s hands.

As Jake follows the group on a wild goose chase, he questions everything he knows about his team. Who can he trust? And is he prepared to find out?

In an Attempt to save the woman with the metal collar around her neck, Jake starts searching for the keys with one of the officers from his new team. Although they know of his past good efforts, none of them take too kindly to Jake and a few seem ready to stress him out. Now the robbers seem to be taking an odd turn, are there other people involved?! What are they doing...The tension is high between everyone, will they find the keys in time, or be forced to watch a horrible death..And Where are the Crimsons..Are They Really Involved?!

I'm hating how Candice's situation is getting more desperate .......................... but loving how the story is developing! It's like watching a horror film from behind your hands, but not being able to cover your eyes completely.

I can 'see' the characters clearly in my mind - great descriptions of both them, the 'scenes' (brilliant eye for detail from Jack Probyn) and the situation as it unfolds .......................... not too quickly, but just enough to hold the Reader's attention.

Really looking forward to reading Episode Three - so it MUST be good!

This is the second in a continuing series. Candice was kidnapped from the jewelry store. She is discovered at her house with a collar on with a timing device. There are 4 keys they have to find in order to unlock this collar and save her life. It is a frantic search for the keys with the clues given by the criminals. This is another page turner that keeps you wanting for the next episode.

DC Tanner and his immediate lead follow the second clue, racing to solve the clues to the keys necessary to save Candice, the booby-trapped hostage. The investigation team and the bomb squad are also working jointly to protect themselves and the hostage. The perpetrators, possibly identified as the Crimson Gang, hurry to make their get-away, but their youngest member is getting in the way. Is it possible that the gang has another agenda? Jake makes some recommendations but his inexperience is a detriment to his influence. Pressure builds as time is running out and the team must find the remaining keys. Adding the mystery is the possible addition of another conspirator and the identity of the hostage.
Note: The author provided me a copy of this episode and I am freely providing my review of the storyline.

Jake and the team have to try and get the bomb device unlocked and off Candice’s neck. Can they solve the clues and find the keys in time, bearing in mind that they have no idea how long they have?

So far these episodes have been full of tension and intrigue. Each episode goes from strength to strength and have me on the edge of my seat.
