This is a true story. It had been a tough shift for Police Sergeant Jill Evans, but back home she tries to relax and enjoys a hot, strong coffee. The telephone disturbs her peace and tranquillity. A bank raid, an armed robber and a name she knows only too well. The conversation brings her world crashing down. Her partner, the father of her unborn child, has been leading a double life in more ways than one. Cruel deceptions and then a crippling battle with the police force she has served impeccably for 17 years. It’s a battle she will struggle to win as she encounters a big boys’ club – the network that condemns her at every turn and navigates her journey in a bid to discredit her. They want her punished for the crimes and lies of others, they want rid of her and they will stop at nothing to make sure they get what they want.
Wow just wow jill. You have suffered so much at the hands of the police, we all know police in Pembs are corrupt. Also your blood family turning their backs.your should be so bloody proud of yourself raising up from the ashes like a Pheonix. Anyone picking up this book won't be able to put it down from the 1st page to the last. Congratulations hunni, be happy you deserve it xx
Thank you for your story Jill. I always knew police/ governments/councils are corrupt and your story just goes to serve my theory. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but congratulations and much kudos for kidding the lid in a real situation. I have no doubt your story is nothing but truthful, I'm only sorry your kids judge you because that is the ultimate hurt. Thank you for telling your story. Wish you all the best going forward
A moving, honest and compelling account of one woman's fight and resilience against injustice, prejudice and indifference in a world that wasn't ready to listen. Well written and an excellent read, devoured it in 2 days.
This book was definitely a page turner. I listed to the Wondery podcast 'Stolen Hearts,' before I found this book. I definitely suggest reading this, as it fills in so many gaps from the podcast. My only complaint is some publishing errors. But I definitely recommend it.
Jill amazing book always thought the police department was corrupt. I think anyone thinking about joining the police especially women should read this first. But glad that your life is better now.
