"Provides an introduction to a vast array of scholarly perspectives on emergent technologies and biotechnologies used to modify or augment the capabilities of human beings"--
This book explores posthuman and transhuman ideas considering what it means to be human. The essays also discuss many philosophical and ethical considerations cautioning us to think before we leap. Though I doubt it will be much read outside of academic circles the book outlines many important problems. The future is never quite what we imagine but we should still hope and work towards a better world.

This effort is less technical and more focused on cultural and anthropological analyses of the impact on the transhumanism and posthumanism trends. Some texts are excellent some are boring and not very interesting. It is worth the reading anyway.
