This is book three of the Alveria Dragon Academy: Reign of Chaos series and continues the story of King Kai and his Dragon Tamer Mari. They have lost the Source to Water magic to Chaos, but at least have the Source of Fire in their hands. The Head of the Council is still out to get Kai off his throne and seems to have most of the Council on his side. After losing the last Source and Kai going rogue as a dragon, once his nightmare hit, the Council are holding a lot against him and his new reign over Alveria. But the story gets a start with a royal ball to celebrate their official bonding and graduation to Akademy initiates. Unfortunately, Chaos has his claws into someone in their trusted inner circle and the latest Source they recovered, is not as safe as they hoped. Someone close to them is about to betray them and this will place the future of the Kingdom even closer to the Head Councillor’s hands.
Losing the Source of Fire as well, leaves behind a deep betrayal of one so close to Kai and Mari especially. They manage to place a trap for the spy and gain valuable information from them, which will lead them to Chaos’ hideaway. They have to wait for the right time to attack, when Chaos is away on another mission, hoping to recover the last Source and also the spy’s dragon, as well as maybe find the remainder of the scroll holding the details of the prophecy about Kai and Mari’s part in saving magic. The key to all of this is going to be the last Source of all, the Source of Creation, which Mari can use. She is the only person other than her dead mother, who could wield Creation magic and she will have to learn more about her past, in order to fulfil her part in the prophecy.
Before they can return from Chaos’ hideaway in the mountains, they get word that Chaos and his nightmare monsters are attacking the Akademy’s mountain fortress, where all the trainees and initiates stay, with only minimal protection. Most of the protection is around the palace and the main town. They return to a huge battle going on that will ring them all to their knees and be the death of many amongst them. Mari tries to use her creation magic, using her blood as usual, but the amount of blood she will need to set a trap for Chaos, will be too much for her to be able to survive. She has the use of fire, water and air magic, but even more will be needed if they are to succeed. All Kai can do is to implore the God of War for help in their battle, which they will surely fail in otherwise!
Chaos wants to destroy all magic and even the world that they live in, so the need to win this battle is all consuming. A visit of someone from Mari’s past, will be the key moment and passing of knowledge, to allow Mari to understand her own type of magic fully and give them the only chance to defeat Chaos. Only problem is that all sources of magic will have to be destroyed before she can do her part, leaving everyone else practically defenceless and unable to shift back to their human forms, nor communicate through their bonds. All magic could be lost and forever. Not something that will something they can survive. It will be all down to the two who the prophecy said would have to save magic, to either succeed or fail. Chaos is all that will be left if they fail. This was a fantastic ending to the series and really tied up all of the storylines and even gave a few links to the past, passing on knowledge and explaining the secrets some characters held. If you love stories about dragons and magic, then this is the series for you! I look forward to reading more from this author. Chaos has been causing mayhem throughout the kingdom, but there is also an internal battle of power for who truly controls the kingdom. Kai or the Council. Mari and Kai are trying to keep the remaining Sources out of Chaos' hands, but it is proving to be difficult, for they do not know where the remaining Sources are located and there is much deception within. Mari and Kai both realize they are in love with other, but cannot find a way to tell the other. They have to save the realm and magic, which means everything else needs to be put aside. The answers for each of them lie in the past. As more dragons lose their magic, unrest grows, and they need to find a solution quickly. We see Mari and Kai grow as they face the challenges ahead of them. They will to discover the rest of the Prophecy to have a chance at saving Alveria and its magic. The power lies within Mari, but will she figure out how to use it in time?

Definitely need tissues on stand by for this one. Finally they tell each other their feelings but unable to go further until Chaos is defeated. A brilliant time to see the gods return in battle and help. Grief at the loss of a beloved friend and a moment with a beloved mother really makes it hard to read through the tears.
I feel this book is the ending and beginning of a new age for our two heroes. A must read.

This is an excellent 2nd book. The character definition is awe-inspiring. Ava Richardson really gets to the heart of the characters. Mari and Kai work hard to develop the trust /bond they need to be able to work together as a Dragon Tamer. Kai is still struggling to contain his dragon and needs Mari to keep him stable. Chaos is keeping them on their toes by destroying the elements of magic. Can they make it through the the Akademy courses together or will Chaos tear them apart?

I cried and got chills reading this book. The ending of a wonderful series couldn’t have been better. I thought Mari was powerful but what she could do and what she was, was amazing. But in order to defeat Chaos she and Kai have to bring magic to the brink of removing it from exsistence. Will they or anyone survive? I will take strength of character and their love for the realm to succeed and complete the prophecy that said they were the chosen ones. Im dritten Teil geht es wieder genau dort weiter, wo der vorherige aufgehört hat. Wie auch den zweiten Teil, würde ich diesen nicht ohne Vorkenntnisse empfehlen, auch wenn schon ein bisschen etwas erklärt wird.
Zur Geschichte möchte ich hier gar nicht viel sagen - wer die ersten beiden Teile mochte, dem wird dieser sicherlich auch gefallen.
Es wird soweit eigentlich alles aufgeklärt und die Geschichte abgeschlossen. Für mich ist das ein extra Pluspunkt, wenn bei solchen Geschichten keine großen Fragen offen bleiben.

This is the epic and perfect conclusion to the Reign of Chaos trilogy. Ave Richardson has managed to create vivid characters who are faced with tremendous challenges and risen to meet them. None more so than in this exceptionally well written story. I am a little sad to see the end of the series and will eagerly read any other book the Ave writes that is connected to it.

It was a great conclusion to the series. It was nice to see the final growth of the characters into their final development as a being and see them in their final embodiment. They were spectacular characters all grown up. The storyline was vivid and transported us so clearly into the world making it an epic read as you felt

Another exciting book to the series. The author once again brings strong characters and weaves an action packed story with magic and secrets. It's well written,moved fluidly and is an intriguing story. I'm looking forward to the next book.

As Mari and Kai fight against the powers of evil Chaos they run into some unexpected turns but overcome and work together for their land and world. I'm never disappointed in Ava Richardsons books and this one is no exception. Looking forward to more!!
