The Rovan Gate is the 15th book in the PIT series.
Just as it seems that the PIT team has learned the answers they sought about the Rovans, the team uncovers one last lead so tempting that they decide to stall the coming confrontation with Ambassador Shiny to investigate another legacy of the Rovan civilization.
I am a software engineer in Silicon Valley who dreams of otherworldly creatures, mysterious alien planets, and fantastic adventures. I'm also an indie author with over 150,000 paid sales and another 150,000 free downloads.
I'm always delighted when a new Parker Interstellar Travels book is released. They're fun, escapist, somewhat retro space opera, without the uncomfortable racism, sexism, or "how come they can cross space but have such abysmal comms tech?" of actual 50s SF. They're not hard SF - you'll find all the FTL travel and force shields you want here - but the fictional science is used consistently. And the aliens are great - very much not Humans With Bumpy Foreheads.
If you've read this far in the series, you'll certainly read this one too, so my review is superfluous, but here goes. But the ending put a smile on my face, and the title of the next book in the series suggests that the team will be once again heading out into the Black to make first contact with a new alien species. Huzzah!

Excellent addition to the series with the very different parts
The first part of this book is a little bit tougher than the rest: there are basically the distinct parts of which the second and third part are very enjoyable. As usual the alien species and their guardians are well described and the "battles" are detailed. I would have enjoyed more details about the outcomes but that could have slowed down the pace too. I will probably read the next book.
It's been decided the PIT team is going home to confront Shiny. Now they have to decide if they kill him, or can they find another way to get Shiny out off Earth's business?
This book series continues to reinvent ways to get my attention and an entertaining Adventure field evening always awaits me after work as I sit down and catch up with this team of explorers. I can’t stop reading these books :-)
