In PRIMARY VALOR (The Forging of Luke Stone—Book #5), a ground-breaking action thriller by #1 bestseller Jack Mars, elite Delta Force veteran Luke Stone, 29 and the FBI’s Special Response Team are summoned when a teenage girl is taken captive and trafficked to a billionaire’s private retreat in South America. Luke is handed an impossible rescue mission, pitting one man against an army.
Making matters worse, behind it all may be something much greater, leading to the upper echelons of government, and to a national security crisis.
Jack Mars is author of the bestselling LUKE STONE thriller series, which include the suspense thrillers ANY MEANS NECESSARY (book #1), OATH OF OFFICE (book #2) and SITUATION ROOM (book #3).
I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. Kept me on edge. Lots of things going on that you should read the prequels (yes, more than one) before tackling this one.
This is the fifth book in the series that I have read ! It did not disappoint. Luke and Ed are getting ready to go after child sex traffickers when the traffickers abducted an extremely important politically connected underage girl. Someone is going to pay dearly.
Another human trafficking plot. a young girl is abducted and taken to an island owned by a billionaire who has everything he wants and gets everything he wants . He owns everyone in American government and everyone wants to protect him, but nothing can stop Luke Stone and his gang from retrieving the girl.
Another good entry in the Luke Stone saga. Luke at this point is only around 29 years of age, and Gunner is just a baby.
The SRT is walking on eggshells due to their involvement with the Presidential kidnapping when Don is approached by an old contact who needs help. This book is a reenactment of the Jeffrey Epstein case - almost completely- pedophile billionaire with a private island and all. There is even the woman/girlfriend/mistress/recruiter. It is hard to take, at least for me, to actually read about a woman so evil. They are both AWFUL, but somehow it just seems extra awful to see how a woman can willingly be a part of the grooming, training and torture of a young girl.
For some reason, this seemed more like a novella to me. It is long enough, but it is a fast read. There is the requisite action, but everything seems a little bit more surface level than what we are used to with this series. I listened to this on audio and had no problems with the narration.
The one thing I was thinking about when I finished this book was that I needed to go back and see WHEN the Luke Stone Series (not the prequel) actually started. (I think this book is up to 2006 now). It been lots and lots of books ago and I'm not sure I actually remember the beginning. Also, if I am remembering correctly.....this book actually shows the very early beginnings of an important relationship and plans that become a HUGE part of the Luke Stone series.
Luke Stone and Ed Newsham become involved following the abduction of a teenage girl. It soon becomes apparent that a corrupt billionaire has a penchant for young girls and the task is made all the more challenging by corruption and betrayals in multiple organisations! The mission is further jeopardised by their own anger at both the levels of depravity and that people in high places keep trying to shut the operation down using any means possible. This is an action packed thriller that moves at pace while maintaining high levels of realism.
Brings concepts to light most would like to ignore
People trafficking and corrupt politicians/government form the basis of this story and does make you think how close to the truth it could possibly be Overall it's very entertaining. Moments of introspection but mainly all out action. An interesting falling out amongst the team could lead to some interesting future story line/sub plot
Luke Stone and his partner, Ed Newsom are sent out to rescue a teenage girl who has been kidnapped and taken to a remote island owned by a millionaire. Along with them is an FBI agent who wants to create chaos along the way. His ulterior motive will be revealed along the way.
This book 5 seems to be a book written because the predecessors were a success, and it was a chance to make money. It dos not have a story line or a delivery that measures up to Mars previous offerings in this series. Let’s hope book 6 is a return to the standard set. GE
Luke and Ed team up, break up, team up and create chaos as they embark on a new SRT mission. Ben porter in False Assurances, threat bias and subversive addiction is a new hero; not a former SEAL or Delta, but an ordinary guy doing extraordinary things.
This is a good series. I like the Luke Stone character along with his supporting cast. Good development makes them come to life. Plot is good, the story has lots of action and thrills. Recommend this one!
I love following a character over several books and years of the life of a character. This is another great book following Luke Stone and I enjoyed it. Next stop, the final prequel.
