Poetry is my first love and it will always be. This book of poems is beautiful. The author really puts forth her feelings into her poems. They are beautiful and so full of emotions. A couple poems really got to me and made me cry. I am a very emotional person that is why I connect well with poetry. This is a great read and it's highly recommended if you like or love poems.
I forgot to mention there is bad words in the book to express the poetry.

B. Brunswick’s 2020 poetry collection, “Inner Outer” captures the cosmos of modern poetry in a uniquely direct way. Through a strong use of rhetoric that flows through most pages and a similarly strong use of imagery, Brunswick brings themes of war, love, self-love and pain together to form the very base emotions of mankind and to find the destination of strength and resilience through all of it. An amateur toward local reviews, I was disappointed to find little to no web-presence for Brunswick, however also found that this lack of presence potentially helped the enjoyment of this work. Taking identity and persona away from this collection has allowed the very raw and honest portrayal of mind. Exceeding author expectations, this collection proves the skill of the creative and inspires a lot of hope for future poets (especially where others have failed). Beginning with a succinct introduction and flowing flawlessly with simple rhyme schemes, this collection reads beautifully. Themes of war in “Why? (The Soldiers Burial)” are tied together with the harrowing use of repeated questioning in more personal pieces such as “When All the Love Dies” and “Blowing Kisses”. I notably enjoyed “Oxygen Thief” and “Do You Love” and was thrilling caught off-guard with use of conversational questioning to further establish this rhetoric in “Who?”. Finding that all themes of this collection were in connection to intense amounts of hurt and/or pain, I was immensely impressed with the use of simple schemes and language to infiltrate the heart without alarm. Similarly, I was impressed with the general understanding of poetry and, in connection, the philosophy linked. I have noted in a lot of recent collections like this that the author will often succeed in a state of vulnerability but will not offer the balance that must come with such intense content. Brunswick has achieved an amazing collection through this constant balancing scale of real, raw, pain to real, honest, hope – a perfect philosophy to follow in such trying times. Overall, I was thrilled to have found a current poet capable of tackling such dark content while also spreading a message of strength, resilience and power. Brunswick’s “Inner Outer” achieves, perfectly, the message intended and offers a unique place of refuge for anyone lost in the voids of mind, spirit or space. Using strong themes easily relatable to the everyday and immersing them in rhetoric has created a very direct and succinct poetry collection and proves the capabilities of our artists today. This poet clearly did all that they could to create an immersible experience of sight, sound, sense and soul and succeeded beautifully. Was NOT disappointed to find a new poet to follow. Hope to be here for the long haul!
Inner Outer – A poetry Collection contains a plethora of poems on various themes ranging from Humanity, love and society to war, pain and self awareness. Poetry has always been my one true love and I found myself to be really excited when I received this book. The poems in this book are directly from the author’s soul and narrate stories which are bound to stay with the reader for quite some time.
The types of poem also varied. Some of them had a perfect rhyme scheme whilst some others were free verse. As the title suggests, the poems compiled in this book talk about everything, inside out. The themes of the poems were lovely. The lines were crafted in beautiful way which managed to keep me hooked until I was through with the book.
I think one of the best parts about the book was that I read it after midnight. Poem after poem, the feels kept on hitting me like waves crashing on the shore, drowning me in their intensity, every single time. The use of poetic devices and simple rhyme schemes was what touched my heart and made this book a quick read.
Deep, dark and pensive. Excellent poetry collection.
I have exceptionally high standards when it comes to poetry, I rarely give more than 3 or 4 stars, but I enjoyed this collection. The poets expression, his choice of words and how he combines them together provides a wonderful imagery, giving each of his poems a story from start for finish. Each poem in the collection was fresh and unique, making this an interesting read (unlike some poetry collections which are too repetitive). Moreover, I felt like I really learned a lot about the author from this collection, he is clearly a pensive man who is not afraid to “tell it like it is”, in a respectful manner. As a big softy at heart, I would have liked to read something uplifting and positive, however, a lm uplifting poem wouldn’t have worked well with the tone of this collection which I felt can be best summarised as deep, dark and pensive. I’m looking forward to reading some of the other authors works.
A look into a soul. In this book of poems, we see deep into the soul of B. Brunswick. He tells us who he really is. Not what we see in the outside but the soul and heart inside. He had also given us a glimpse of how he sees the world around him. I found this book very enlightening as I know the author. He has shown a serious side that I found very different from his normal storytelling. I would very much like to explore this side more.
I received Inner Outer as a gift in exchange for an honest review. B. Brunswick has a wonderful way with words! His poetry is emotional, deep, and inspiring . The final poem in this book is so beautifully written it will pull at your heart strings, but to be fair they are all amazing. It's a huge accomplishment as a debut poetry collection, making it hard to believe the author hasn't published many others of its kind! I highly recommend it.
This is an amazing book of contemporary poetry. It truly is an exploration of self. My (current) favourite poem is Oxygen Thief. This poetry collection will be re-read over and over. It is full of emotion and depth. I will be waiting for the next collection from this newly published poet.
This book of poems is a window into the writer's mind. Each one is evocative and beautifully written. Oxygen Thief was a particular favourite of mine. An enjoyable read that will you have you questioning your life around you.
