Waited two days to write my review. While the story wasn't brilliant, the writing was really good. I just couldn't buy into the fact that a child that young could be so articulate and devious.

A short horror

Badass by Justin Boots is a weird horror that stretching reality a lot. Odd and unusual. Hoping for a turn around at the end.

This story was pretty good. It's a little bit hard to believe to a point but I guess that's why it's called fiction but that being said it was still good. This is my first time reading Justin Boote but it won't be my last because I really liked the writing style I was engaged the whole time wanting to know what was gonna happen next. 3.5 stars rounded up for me on this one

Oh man …. I knew a kid kind of like this. His name was Bradly. Everyone thought he was an angel and was always the one being bullied, but it was because he egged people on. He is the one who would pinch someone under a table and the kid being pinched would hit him back. The other kid would always get in trouble because they didn’t see Bradley do anything wrong and he swore he may have accidentally touch the kid, but didn’t pinch him. I had his number and didn’t let my kids near him. I couldn’t believe he got away with all he got away with. I never disliked a child so much as I did this one. He would now be grown and I wonder if he is in prison yet or still tricking everyone of what a wonderful person he is.

Anyways… this book was a quick read. I really liked it and wish I would have gotten to find out if the kid ended up in prison or a psych ward or what happened to Greg. Did he ever get revenge?

Frighteningly twisted

From a random moment witnessed between mother and her chikd, turns into years of torment and helplessness.

Reading this was like listening to fireside tales to frighten young children. But I'm not sitting by a fire, nor am I a child.

The manner in which it's told gives the reader the idea that this is a narrative of actual events, and that it could quite possibly happen is terrifying.

This little novella packs a punch.

Horrific and chilling

The story of a young man getting pulled deeper and deeper into a nightmare situation. You keep hoping he'll be able to find a way clear of the mess and you have to keep reading to find out if he makes it. A very chilling read!

"Badass" begins with a wink and descends into torment. The author cleverly raises the tension and the stakes, until I was no longer able to put it down. This book is a treat for horror fans.

What a great short story!! Justin Boote has a great imagination, or is it a sick one.....lol. All I can say is I have loved all the books and stories that I've read that are written by him.
I don't want to give a lot away, and this is a quick read, so I will just say a little bit about it.
Ricky, who when the story starts is around 5 years old and runs into the middle of the street in front of a bus. His mother, in the feat of strength that mothers can get at a time like this, runs after him and grabs him out of the way just as the bus was going to hit him. She has ahold of his arm and is yelling at him, with those shakes only a mother can give when she really wants to smack the child. He stands there, acting as if he is going to cry, his head down, but when Ricky's mother starts back across the street with him, he turns his head and looks back at the guy on the porch and winks at him with a sneer on his face. That look, the one that says, I don't care about any of this.
Ricky's parents aren't the greatest. His father is always drinking and his mother has a black eye or bruises on her arm that says that her husband likes to hit her.
The book is written in first person. When I read it, it was like I was being told a story by someone. It made the story that much better. I love it when someone is telling me a mesmerizing story and with the increase of the things that Ricky does, but nobody but the person telling the story ever sees him doing anything. What will Ricky do next and how bad can it get to before someone actually catches him doing it. Read the story, you won't regret it.

I've always known kids can be cruel and devious little creatures. How? Because I was bullied my entire childhood. I saw things being done to scare me that no kid should have to live through. So this story? It hits home for me. I knew that little brat was up to no good.
I did knock off 1 star just bc I need to know what happened after!!! If there's a sequel, I'll add the 5th star back ;)
