Cora is writing her new book in a remote cabin when two burglars appear. They take her captive. She is telling them stories to be released and get rid of them. Will she succeed? Cleverly constructed frame story and three great inset tales (anthology is a bit misleading in the title) that somehow connect to the whole situation. This is a kind of eerie Arabian Nights reloaded. Really enjoyed the three tales narrated by her with titles like "The Tracks in the Snow", "The Town in the Mountain" and "The Valley of Ash and Shadows". The twist at the end is also very surprising and unexpected. Sinister and dark story I couldn't put down. Highly recommended!

Interesting way to slip some shorter stories into a nice intriguing larger tale. I couldn’t wait to find out if Cora would find a way out of this situation! I loved it

Let me just say, I read this book while in the mountains - ALONE. No cell service, no people for miles. Just me, my cabin, my ATV, and this book. Not the brightest idea. But, I did it!

Alone in the mountains is just what Cora needs to knock out her next book. SOLITUDE. Things start happening that don't make sense. Was someone watching her? Stalking her?

Instead of writing one story, Cora weaves three unique tales of horror. **It was at this point, that the sun was going down and the moon was coming up, but I couldn't put the book down.**

Three amazing stores are entangled together like a spider web. They are all about survival, about dealing with the circumstance. Could you survive? Would you want too?

Ms. Archer's writing puts you RIGHT in the book. Honestly once I started this book I was hooked. It's a very mental mindception. You get tangled in the stories to the point you are a character in the book.

Can you survive?

The Arabian Nights meets Misery!

I do not like short stories. I do not like anthologies. I have read two books by this author that I did not like. This was cute and fun. Recognizable formula but freshened enough to be interesting. I am glad that I read it and am happy to have bought the book.

This masterpiece was enthralling. I'm normally not into horror/thrillers, but it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and I couldn't put it down. The method of intertwining the characters was ingenious. The ending was a huge twist that I didn't see coming! I highly recommend.

I listened to the Audible version of this book. I was skeptical of the virtual voice but after about five minutes, I had forgotten all about that. The story is excellent. I highly recommend it.
