She can break his heart as easily as she broke his leg. After a failed relationship with a network executive, Hollywood TV reporter, CLEO JONES is sent packing from LA to the entertainment wilderness of Brisbane, Australia. It’s a temporary assignment before her foreign correspondent role in London, England. When an accident causes Cleo to break the leg of Australian elite triathlete, HAYDEN O’LOUGHLIN, she finds herself his driver and all-around gofer as compensation. Hayden is the World Number Two, and aiming to make the Australian Olympic team—his ticket to major sponsorship. A broken leg is the last thing he needs—along with a new relationship with a woman who could break his heart as easily as she broke his leg. As their feelings for each other grow, Cleo and Hayden must decide if chasing a relationship is possible while chasing their dream careers.
This is apparently the first in a new series and it was interesting to read about a triathlete's life, especially when the setting is Australia. Yes, it's also fun to experience the upside down seasons. Even though California doesn't get snow over the holidays and we can have sunny warm weather in December, we can usually see snow up in the mountains.
My quibble about this book is that I don't see how the hero/heroine resolve the issues that were initially keeping them from getting serious about each other. . Since this is book one, it is possible that a subsequent book will continue their story.
There is some humor with Cleo's clumsiness, which is how she and Hayden end up meeting, and the author doesn't let up on that. And I did enjoy Hayden's view on the "boob-off" scene. That was certainly something new and different (reminded me of a similar scene in the movie "Flashdance").
TWO FOR THE ROAD is yet another fabulous Catherine Rull novel! When news reporter, Cleo Jones accidently breaks the leg of triathlete, Hayden O’Laughlin, she makes up for delaying his Olympic training by becoming his driver during his recuperation. This delightful sports romance is filled with delicious banter, and lots of chemistry between Cleo and Hayden. It will keep you laughing and cheering for both the triathlete and the one who broke his leg…all the while hoping they will not break one another’s hearts.
This was a fun book to read centred around a competitive triathlon world. The characters were interesting and I could not wait to see how things worked out in the end. Well done.
