"...now he remembered why he liked dead girls. Live ones were too irrational."
Kinsey is the local cemetery caretaker. He loves his job. The peace and quiet, the work and most of all, the corpses. Kinsey has an unusual obsession. When a live girl appears in the graveyard, he is faced with a dilemma. What is a man to do with a warm body? Hot or cold, the results may not be pretty. Dry humor and grotesque imagery kept me glued to to the pages.
Well..... That was disturbingly different. I don't think I'll be able to look at a cemetery grounds keeper the same again lol. Elizabeth Bedlam is a awesome writer she has a awesome way of setting up her story and characters really quickly, then she just hits you like a punch to the face with a bunch of things that make the reader uncomfortable and psychologically messes with you it's just awesome. Definitely dig her style and dark humor. I look forward to reading more. Read this because once you start it you can't put it down.
This was my first Elizabeth Bedlam story and it did not disappoint. Kinsey is a sick man who has a thing for dead girls. I won't say too much, but the twist in the middle was excellent. Great, short read.
By now, I've read a fair bit of the author's offerings and I have to say, this one may be my favorite. It's on pace, void of fluff and filler, grotesque and disturbing in all the right places while offering a very human experience beneath it all. Relationships are tough, I get it, but Kinsey eventually finds his place in the world, regardless of how he got there.
Kinsey is the local gravedigger who has a body to die for - a regular good guy and friend to all, who digs the women and just loves them feeling...cold.
An alternative, modern-day adult romantic romp which is given the usual Bedlamatic treatment. Twist things to the extreme, make it rude and erotic, then add in that extra special touch of spice - voila!
Romeo and Juliette, this surely isn’t... or is it?
Not to everyone’s taste, but a good story that is well worth a read. Enjoy.
Rating- 4.1 cooling dark stars of truly unadulterated, carnal, self-centred indulgence.
Bedlam's prose is tight and her characters well crafted and memorable. And man what an imagination she has. I'm going to devour her backlist after reading this gem.
A tale of necrophilia and twisted love and will definitely make you laugh, possibly make you cry, and maybe turn you on (hey, I’m not judging you...you perv).
Another erotic romance themed around death by the brilliant Bedlam, featuring her trademark gallows wit. As in many of Bedlam’s other works, scenes of remarkable poignancy sit in eerie comfort with doses of gonzo black humour. If you thought only real life could be this funny, silly, sad, ridiculous, and horrible all at once, then think again. Bedlam has a remarkable and wondrous ability to seamlessly combine the tragic and the absurd. If you haven’t read her work yet you should do so immediately, if only to secure bragging rights for when she inevitably becomes a cult figure.
