Angela has moved Safe Haven to the apocalyptic Mountains of Georgia to make their stand. She has put a plan in motion that will free them or get them all killed. For her, everything since the apocalypse has come down to this moment. It’s what she’s been training for, what the Eagles have tried to prepare her for, but only fate knows if it will be enough.Major Donner has studied the descendants over his long military career. He has spent months at a time underground with them in the labs. He knows them better than anyone on the government’s payroll. He’s the guy they call to recapture escapees or to hunt down new specimens. His family has served in this manner for a century. His name is whispered with loathing among descendants and soldiers alike. He is brilliant, he is ruthless, and the post-apocalyptic government has just turned him loose on Safe Haven.Length: 817 PagesNumber: Book Five
The long awaited war has now run its course and justice has been dealt but the roughest part of the journey still looms ahead and leadership, those still strong, is now fractured.
There are lots of gory scenes of death, mayhem and carnage in this episode. Angela has crafted a plan of action against the government forces that incorporates defensive and offensive maneuvers, all to protect Safe Haven. We also get to see that Adrian Mitchell is not quite the person that most of the citizens of Safe Haven think him to be. This book does finally deliver the war that has been spoken of in each proceeding volume. Only thing is that it's not going to go down exactly as imagined. I know this review is somewhat lacking but to go into further detail would spoil the entire book. Suffice it to say that you'll be gobsmacked as you read every word, trying as you go to guess what will happen, as well as how and when. You're just gonna have to read it to discover the ending (thus far).
Side note: I just discovered that this is book 5 of 20. I don't know if I or my budget can afford this! ;-)
This was a long instalment of the survivor /descendant story of Angela, Marc, Adrian and many others. There are battles on many fronts - not least the corrupt government that wants to use the powers of the descendants to dominate the world.
I like how the story switches to various characters, giving a more detailed and depth to the story. I also like the way women are finally becoming important in a world ruled by men...it's great to see the changes in the minds of men and women.
The plot (Angela's mind) is extremely clever in how she can use her powers to see ahead and plan accordingly for the Eagles and others.
Overall, an engaging episode with some twists, turns and surprises.
Enjoyed the first few books, and was looking forward to the resolution, but with this book I found myself tiring of the characters. The men have the "I must protect the woman, so she cannot do her job and be in danger" attitude. They do this for 2 books, then have a change of heart and proceed in the opposite direction, becoming all "gung-ho" for the person to do her job, protect others, and move the group towards its ultimate destiny. Won't be reading any more of this series.
Just like all of Angela White's books, Fight for Survival is great! I felt like I was part of her crew, one of the characters fighting for justice, for freedom from the corrupt government we face today. I recommend this book, this series, to you all. Those who are gifted and those who are only human!
Cool twist to her world, great characters, involving story. Not what I expected. Fantastic Story. Loved the characters. Kept me turning through the pages to see what happened next. Intense. I was wanting more the second I started reading

Still enjoying the writing - such a lot of meat in each book. Didn't like the Maker stuff to be honest, preferred the earlier books before the powers became so... powerful. I did find a few typos etc and one bigger error which is unusual but also not really surprising considering the size of the books. Not looking forward to the end of the series but I also prefer not to leave too long a gap between books because I lose track of some of the characters.
When leaving a review for Angela White it is so easy to do. By now you know the characters and learn more about the magic. The length of the book allows you to really get into it and learn the little kirks of each character. I have become so involved in the characters that it really hurts to lose one and this book we lose a main character. There are no better Apocalypse series that can come close to Life After War.
