Bestselling Disaster & Apocalypse Author DJ Cooper

She lives in Biddeford, Maine, with a demon disguised as a cat! She loves to read and write post-apocalyptic and disaster fiction. It all started with the Dystopia series of books she released in late 2014, and she has been going strong since.

She also writes nonfiction prepper books and articles for her preparedness teams at Thrive Self-Reliance Initiative. That first title created a strong desire to learn more, leading her back to school, hoping to gain more perspective on the craft and the industry. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Marketing. She spends her days now studying for her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a concentration in teaching.

DJ’s favorite apocalyptic reads are The Road, Alas Babylon, One Second After, & the dystopian series Hunger Games. As an Apocalypse author, she hopes to find herself among these favorites for readers of all ages.

Don’t read unless you are ready to get seriously invested in a new series...

What just happened here? I couldn’t believe how fast I feel in love with Kael and Zyla. The twists and turns, the additional information as these kids grew to learn more about the devastating dystopian future around them... I was hooked from the beginning. And now I HAVE to read the next one to see just how deep into the insurrection this series goes!

Deception is a fantastic read. The main characters are wonderful and their struggle gave me all the feels. The society they live in is harsh and brutal but this is balanced with hope. The scenes are vivid, the action heart-stopping. Loved it and highly recommend.

Loved reading this book written in various voices

An unusual dystopian novel as it has each character define the story in their own voice. So the poor oppressed brother tell how they scrabble to survive. The wicked guards tell about the thrills they get torturing their victims. The resistance made up of good guards and various poor and rich recount their visions of a better world...and their machinations to enable the change...
Somehow the brother and sister are to be the catalysts of some foretold...miracle....next book?

Quite a deception!

Kael and Zyla barely exist in the desperately poor town Rysa. They have the bad fortune to be branded as the lowliest caste, as Grays. But fate deals them a hand. Will the cards turn in their favor?
