For Samuel Grayson, everything is black or white. As a funeral director, there’s no room for in-between. He’s accustomed to dealing with life and death, though he’s definitely more comfortable with the latter. Especially when it comes to a chaotic, petite, feisty ball of energy. Freedom Rayne. Samuel’s pretty sure her goal is to make his life hell, or so it appears. When Samuel boards a flight to Las Vegas for his sister’s wedding, the last thing he expects is to share it with the one woman who drives him crazy.
Freedom is eccentric and completely content with it. Floating around from job to job, she finds peace and tranquility in everything she does, including tormenting poor, uptight Samuel Grayson. When she finds herself on the same flight as him for her best friend’s wedding, she sees this as the perfect opportunity to get under his skin, something she tries to do every chance she gets. The problem is the more time she spends with him, the more she likes him.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Not for Samuel and Freedom. Will they be able to forget about their trip when they return to Rockland Falls? What if one mistake turns out to be the best thing ever?
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
Love and Neckties is the fourth book in Lacey Black’s Rockland Falls series, a spin-off of her Summer Sisters series, but you don’t have to read that series to enjoy this one. An opposites-attract, best friend’s brother romance between Samuel Grayson, the oldest of the Grayson clan and a funeral director, and Freedom Rayne, the free-spirited, vegetarian best-friend of his sister, Harper, and honorary member of the Grayson family.
Samuel is a little…different. The suit-wearing funeral director is very set in his ways. He’s anally retentive in an almost OCD sort of way, and he sees everything in black and white. Freedom is a whirl of color in a flowy bohemian skirt; she’s loud, she’s filterlessly outspoken and blindingly vibrant—basically everything that Samuel is not. But the back and forth bantering that has been simmering between them for years was its own kind of foreplay and due to boil over. While in Vegas for his sister and her best friend’s wedding, Freedom and Samuel, the only unpaired couple, get into some seriously out-of-character for Samuel, Vegas-style mischief, and they wake up the next morning with more than just a hangover.
The chemistry sizzled between Freedom and Samuel, desperately at times. I loved how she pushed his boundaries and opened up his neatly ordered world to color, to new experiences and to love. I loved how Samuel saw more than just chaos in her. On paper, this couple couldn’t be more wrong for each other, but it was their differences that perfectly illustrated just how right they truly were for each other. I’ve been waiting for Samuel’s story since Lacey introduced her readers to this family, and it was worth every second of the wait. Full of all the humor, heart and heat I’ve come to love about Black’s big-family, small town romances, she gave her readers one heck of an amusing, sexy and sweet love story here. Five smooches from me for Love and Neckties by Lacey Black! ~Danielle Palumbo
[1.25 star] grrrrr, i hate this book even more than the second book.
firstly, the heroine keeps giving me a chance to have an eye roll. she is too loud, too over the top and a little obnoxious at times. i totally can't stand her throughout the book.
secondly, the hero is also another eye roll, twice the eye roll i would say. he is either a total doormat or mister goody-two-shoes, not sure which one. he can't stand the heroine, how she acts, what she says or what she does etc but he completely tolerates her and let her bulldoze through anything. his mind keeps saying no to but end up he simply just let it go, what's worse is he let it be by fucking the heroine. like WTF??
honestly, i don't even get where is the attraction between them. the heroine keep trying to attract hero's attention by giving him nicknames, teasing him since she have been in love with him for a long time. the hero just swallow whatever the heroine throws at him.
i wanted to give up at about one-quarter of the book but i wanna close up the series therefore i continued, but i literally have to take a nap before continuing the second half of this book to brace myself for the shit coming from the two idiotic hero and heroine.
this series is a total letdown for me, i expected more from the author as i felt the "summer sisters" series was pretty okay.

Love and Neckties by Lacey Black is book 4 in the Rockland Falls Series. This is the story of Samuel Grayson and Freedom Rayne. I have read the previous books (Loved them!) which added to my enjoyment of this one, but I did feel you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. If you have been reading the previous books, then like me you have been wanting Samuel's story. Samuel had to step up at a early age to help his mom to take care of his younger siblings. So he became a very serious and responsible person. Samuel never relaxed and always wore a suit pretty much everywhere. Freedom is Samuel's sister best friend but she never had a good family life so she drifted into the Grayson family so she has known Samuel since she was young and always had a crush on him. From a early start she always did things to drive him crazy one thing is calling him 'Sammy' when he hates for anyone to do that. When she has problems with her living arrangements Samuel steps up to give her a place to stay...with him. This of course opens the door for her to drive him crazy but more importantly makes him unable to stop his feelings. Loved this book! It might even be my favorite of the series...which is saying something because I loved them all.
Love and Neckties follows the oldest and most serious Grayson, Samuel. I had an inkling that Samuel's story would be full of twists and surprises and all of the things the funeral home director who lives for order, hates. Lacey hit it out of the park with this one. Samuel and Free are PERFECT!! Free is all about live and let live. Love over all else, even if that means the love one has for her friend's older brother, you know - the kind you can't share with anyone because you don't want the other person to know? When the unthinkable happens while in Las Vegas for Harper and Latham's wedding, Free is going to test every fiber of Samuel's being. And I LOVED every minute.
I love Lacey Black and the way she creates characters that are so easy to fall in love with. I absolutely loved Samuel and Freedom. There was never a time where the saying Opposites attract was more fitting.
Freedom was exactly what Samuel need to loosen up a bit. She was wild, loud, speaking her mind where he was all about order. Together they clashed but you couldn't help but fall in love with them as they started to build up their relationship.
I've been a huge fan since I've read my first book in Summer sisters series and with each book I read I love Lacey Black even more. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Honestly DNF but I just have to give this 1 star even though I usually don't rate my dnfs. I HATE Freedom. She doesn't have any respect for his needs and boundaries. Honestly it feels like he might be on the spectrum but there wasn't any discussion about it. Like pushing boundaries is sometimes fun and what the other person might need it but Free does it all the time and never considers how much stress she might cause. And when he gets mad they just have sex. I can't take it anymore. It made me so uncomfortable and honestly it was the lack of respect for me. Maybe there is some discussion in the end but I don't want to read further. Just because you're a free spirit doesn't mean you can throw other people's stuff away or paint their whole house without discussing it firs. I'm just so mad right now...
This is the one I was looking forward to the most, but it really disappointed. Samuel was the one that intrigued me and I really thought no he can't be that anal but yes he was and Freedom I didn't know what to think of her until I started reading this book and I then just found her way to over the top and annoying and dare I say it a little manipulative. I also found this book a little repetitive, so much so u was able to skip parts f it and not lose the story line. Three stars and even then I'm been a little generous.
Nope nope nope to anal and to in ya face they just don’t match at all loved all previous books in this series and gave 5 stars to all because they matched was sweet to watch fall in love .but this one nah I tried skipping through to see if it gets better but nah just can’t finish this one big thumbs down from me .
4.5 I couldn't wait to read this book and this is a beautifully written romance book and I really enjoyed reading it and so will you. This book is part of a series I read it as a stand alone and I will defiantly go back and read the previous books in this series. This book is part of a series The Rockland Falls series and this is book #4. Book #1 Love and Pancakes Book #2 Love and Lingerie Book #3 Love and Landscape
Samuel 'Sammy' Grayson is a funeral directer and he absolutely loves loves his job and doesn't mind working with the dead. He likes everything as is and is totally set in his ways and doesn't really like change and is a real stickler for his rules. He thought that he had everything that he needed in his life but this woman is something else and she shows him that life is for living.
Freedom 'Free' is a fun, bubbly, feisty, awesome woman that has a real love for life and she is a very easy going woman that does not take life to seriously. She loves loves loves to get under the skin of Samuel and knows just how to do it.
When they both find themselves on the same plane going in the same trip to Vegas things start to happen that have meant to happen for along time. Free is Sammy's sister best friend and they have known each other a while when they spend time together they both start to develop feelings for one another and love starts to happen for them both. But is it as easy going as they both hope? However can what stays in Vegas really stay over there, or will they bring it home with them? (NO SPOILERS)
This book was a fabulous romance read and this author has written beautiful really relatable characters that the reader can really connect to and you will love them. I just loved Free and how she was and her outlook on life and how she never took things too seriously, they both really connect with each other and really go together even though they are both very different and I loved watching how there journey progressed and how they navigated each other. They way that this story flows is awesome and this author is a fantastic writer and I really enjoyed this book it was fun, flirty and very sweet and I couldn't put this book down. I always love books that have epilogues too as is always feel like they add that something extra special to the stories. Thank you to the author for allowing me to read a copy of this book in exchange for a complimentary honest voluntary review as always this author knocked it out the park and I cant wait to reading more of her work in the future.
This book is expected to be released 23rd June 2020.
The best romantic comedy I have read in ages. I laughed out loud from beginning to the end. You won't want to miss out on Freedom and Samuels story. And if you have read previous Lacey Black books there is a guest appearance by Emma and Orvie and a boldly coloured crocheted blanket; I need say more.
Freedom and Samuel are as different as night and day as opposite as Crazy and Sane. Think of Phoebe Buffay from friends with dark hair and that is Freedom to a tee; Samual is a little difficult because I want to say Ross but Samual is more of a grown up then Ross if that makes sense and if you add in a bit of Linus Larrabee from the movie Sabrina then the mix is about right.
Freedom is best friends to Samuels younger sister Harper (who's story was told in Love and Lingerie). They have been friends for years ever since Freedom moved in with her grandmother after spending the first 10 years of her life in a commune; hence why Freedom is such a free spirit and so different from Samuel. Freedom loves to get under the skin of Sammy as she call's him; from straightening his neckties to saying inappropriate things out loud in public. "It's raining harder than a cow pissing on a flat rock."
These two should never work but sometimes the ying to someones yang doesn't have to make sense. Samuel being the eldest has always felt that he has had to be the man of the family; doesn't like anything out place even wears an apron in the kitchen in case he spills something. He cant quite understand why now Freedom is getting under his skin.
Harper and Lethams wedding is in Vegas and all the family are there and Freedom cant wait to spend the time taking Sammy out of his comfort zone. Lets hope it isn't to far out of his comfort Zone that two opposites collide!
Love and Neckties is the 4th and final EPIC best-friend's-older-brother romance in the Rockland Falls series by the incomparable Lacey Black! I am soooooo sad that this series is over....but Samuel Grayson and Freedom Rayne's AMAZING love story is the cherry (AND the scrumptious filling!) on top of this series' cake! It's also my new TOP FAVE book written by this UBER-talented author that you seriously don't want to miss out on!!!
Never have two characters been so completely opposite...the absolutely anal, emotionally UNavailable, almost colorless (personality-wise...or so it seemed) Samuel and the free-spirited, completely open, tell-it-like-it-is, spitfire Freedom (PERFECTLY suited name for her!) but somehow, they just mesh in all the right ways! Even tho "Free" drives "Sammy" absolutely CRAZY, she manages to get under his skin in much the same way a burr gets stuck in a dog's fur....and just as impossible to get out! Let the shenanigans begin!
This addictive, steamy, HILARIOUSLY funny, sometimes sweet, banter-filled MUST READ is chock FULL of all the things I LOVE about Ms. Black's writing! The character development is on point and the re-visit with THE world's most inappropriate grandparents is just what I needed....Emma and Orval never disappoint! This AMAZING standalone seriously deserves much MORE than 5 stars and I can't recommend it highly enough! I can't WAIT to see what Lacey comes up with next! Bravo!
Love and Neckties is the fourth full length standalone novel in Lacey Blacks Rockland Falls series. You don't have to read any of the others to read this book but I would highly recommend because we meet these two in previous books.
Well this book is definitely my favourite out of the whole series. I've have been rooting for these two to get together ever since they first made there appearance in previous books.
Freedoms goal in life is to drive Samuel crazy - which she succeeds many times, they are complete opposites - while Freedom is a free spirit and sunshine and rainbows, Samuel is a bit awkward and a perfectionist while always wearing his suit and neckties.
One crazy night in Vegas changes everything and we find out that even though they are so different they are perfect for each other. I loved watching these two find love together, I couldn't picture the other with anyone else.
Trust me when I say you need to read this series if you haven't already. This is a spinoff to her Summer Sisters series if you haven't read that one either you need too, they make appearances in this one as well.
Samuel is a man who thrives on routine and planning so his career as a funeral director couldn’t have been a better choice. When he finds out his travel companion for his sister’s wedding in Vegas happens to not only be her best friend but the person who takes great pleasure in going out of her way to exasperate him things are about to get interesting.
Free is a woman who lives her life fully and with spontaneity. Everything she does is an adventure and she isn’t phased by anything that life throws at her. She has loved Samuel for as long as she can remember but doesn’t believe that he will ever see her as more than his flighty sister’s best friend.
Spending time together they realize that appearances can be deceiving and that do very different people may just be the perfect match. The interactions between Samuel and Free are both fun and flirty but that is only part of the story as their journey definitely had its obstacles.
The Rockland Falls series is back with it's fourth standalone and y'all, this might just be the BEST of this series yet. Sweet. Sexy. Steamy. Unique. All the feels in the very best ways. One hero that melted the ice around my heart.
Love and Neckties hooked me hard and fast from the very beginning and honestly I couldn't put this book down until the very last word and even them I was ready for a series reread. Freedom and Samuel lit up my kindle from the first moments they stepped onto the page and whewwwww, what a journey! You cannot miss these two and for them, what happens in Vegas definitely does NOT stay there.
Lacey Black is a real gem in the romance world and her books.. words.. characters just feed my soul every single time I read one of her books. I can't wait to see what she gives us next.
I’ve loved everything about this book. The Grumpy/Sunshine, Small Town and opposites attracted was really amazing.
I’ve loved how Freedom was in the others books already but in this I've loved her even more. She’s so her 😂, funny, sassy and so self-confident. She's use to makes jokes to Samuel like calling him Samy (with her girly voice), hugging him, giving him sexy present even though she wasn't involved with him.
Samuel is the complete opposite he likes to work by himself in calmess, he don’t like hugs, he hate to be the center of attention and he's not the best funny man either, but Freedom is gonna turn his world upside down.
This book was wonderfully amazing. I recommend it hundred percent and I’m sure I’ll read it again cause it was so good to hear it.
Lacey Black you’re an amazing author and so very talented 🥰.
If I could give this story more than 5 stars I would. A great love story. One of my favorites of this series. Hands down. The BEST!
I'm not one to give out a lot of info when I review, but this book deserves EVERYTHING!!!
Meet Samuel. He's anal about everything. Has been since he was a kid. Everything to him is black and white. In his life there is NO COLOR. What is this suit wearing funeral home perfectionist hiding behind his suit?A hot body. Yes, a hot body. You wouldn't know that until the time comes. Who knew this man has a dirty mind, and knows how to use his tongue. Besides doing everything by the book in his life, his life isn't all it's cracked up to be, that is until this colorful free spirit places herself right where she wants, in Samuel's life. Even if it means irritating him to no end.
Meet Freedom. She's the colorful free spirit that is your hippie chick. Long skirts, sandals, and minimal makeup. Color is her name and she will place it anywhere she feels, even it if brings a certain anal man out of his comfort zone. She makes it her mission to get on his nerves, but deep down, she knows he likes it, he just won't admit it. Longing for this man to come out of his comfort zone, Free is willing to do whatever it takes to make everything that has happened between the both of them last.
With her bright colors and her care free spirit, Samuel doesn't know what to do. Everything to him was done backwards. He needs to do right, but does everything need to be a certain way or can he let go and just let things flow? Will a certain flower child change this anal mans ways, or will it be a lost cause?
This is my favorite book out of the series. A love story that doesn't happen in certain order, but a love story that took many years of building, even if it's in their own minds. Two different people, from two totally different worlds. BEST STORY EVER
Turns out all our Sammy needed was the right woman to pull him out of his comfort zone and live! Whew, what a story! I actually found myself feeling sorry for Samuel in the beginning. So just very different but so very sweet. And when Freedom got ahold of him? Of goodness. What a whirlwind but what a story!! I have loved these characters and couldn’t wait for Samuel’s story! I was not disappointed!! Freedom was mad for Samuel and that’s that!
Love and Neckties is the fourth and final book in the Rockland Falls series by the talented Lacey Black. I've been a fan of Lacey's for a long time and this is one of my favorites from her. Definitely my favorite of the series. Oh Samuel I knew you were going to rock my world with your suits and perfect ties. I've been waiting a long time to watch Freedom loosen you up and push you out of your comfort zone! Samuel and Freedom have always had an interesting relationship. She's his sister's best friend and she loves to annoy him on purpose. He's set in his ways, likes things a certain way and things are right or wrong. When the whole family travels to Vegas for his sister's wedding, he, of course, ends up on the flight with Freedom. And next door to her at the hotel. She succeeds at pushing and being her fun self and he actually lets go a little. Vegas is just one of those places where things happen and then you have to ask yourself, what now? There's obvious attraction and everyone can see it, but does that mean they should act on it? When they return home, things are different. Samuel actually likes having Freedom around. She's fun, loud, colorful and sexy. He starts to rethink adding some color to his life. But can the buttoned up Samuel and the flowy skirt wearing hippie actually find forever together? This. Book! It was everything I wanted it to be and more. Fun, sexy, hilarious and heartwarming. I loved watching Samuel loosen his tie, roll up his sleeves and let go. For Freedom. For a life he never knew he always wanted. For love. For family. For himself. Freedom was the perfect woman to show him what he really needed. He could be the older brother, the eldest son, the hard worker, and still find time to relax and have fun. I fell in love with him in the first book and he's going to the top of my very short list of Lacey's Men. Move over Linkin. (I never thought I'd say that!) Overall, I laughed, cried, smiled, got hot and bothered, laughed some more, swooned and fell in love.
To be brutally honest, I will say that I wasn't really anticipating Samuel's book. Throughout the entity of this series, he came off as really weird to me, and his unusual job choice had me super nervous. I can honestly say, I have never read a romance book that deals with the Hero being a funeral director. In my head, it takes an unusual person to face death everyday and I couldn't see how I would relate to him in anyway. It wasn't necessarily that I didn't trust this author's ability to make me see things differently, but again the personality of a funeral director had my head going a million different ways. With that said, I can't see why I didn't take what I already know about this author and combine the two. So without further ado, LOVE AND NECKTIES is the BEST book in this series.
I have no clue where to begin, because Love and Neckties is nothing but pure greatness. This best friends brother romance had a little bit of everything in it. But this book grew and grew and grew on me. The development was on POINT, and I mean on point. The depth and magnitude that Samuel and Free's story produced had me high in the sky. The dialogue and witty banter was astronomical. The chemistry was something that I have not seen this author do before, and I say that with a HUGE smile on my face. Samuel and Free were so different and that held in their favor when it came to their connection.
SAMUEL!! After reading Love and Neckties, I can not fathom why I held such a high disregard towards him. Yes he is weird. Yes he is unusual, but those things are truly what makes him the great character he is. His love of neckties and perfection was comical, but to see his growth and to see him come out of his shell throughout this book was one of the best things in the book world that I have ever seen take place.
Freedom is the definition if freedom. She is carefree with an aura that completely captivates everyone. This free spirited woman is loud and proud, open and honest and I couldn't envy her more than I do now.
I am so sad to see this series end, but I can honestly say that Black went out with a bang that is going to be hard to surpass in the future. I look forward to more of this authors incredible talent.
Ow After reading this book that’s the only thought in my head. I wrote that out and came back 24 hours later when I could gather my thoughts. This series has meant so much to me, when the summer sisters ended I was so wanting to know where we’d go next, and into Rockland falls we went. I absolutely knew Sam and Free’s story was going to be worth the wait in the same way I knew Sully would be in Cheesy on the Eyes or the way Justin was in Cherished by you.
Free has been working Sam’s last nerve for as long as the two of them can remember, so what better travel companion to his sisters surprise Vegas wedding than the girl who calls him Sammy just to get a rise out of him?
After a bumbling start to the trip the first 24 hours in Vegas for Sam and Free are...interesting. Not everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but sometimes what happens in Vegas comes home to move into your spare bedroom.
Now that Free has Samuel all to herself, she’s ready to snap that last nerve of his to find what’s at the center of his tootsie pop, the real Samuel. Sammy. The guy she’s been secretly in love with for years.
Samuel realizes that while Free drives him crazy, she also brings out the best in him, and he isn’t sure if he’s ready to let that go when her apartment is fixed.
This book. This, book. I went into it seriously giddy because I had been waiting since the first time Free gave Samuel shit to see their own story. I’ve never laughed at one of Lacey’s books harder than this one. It was stomach hurting laughter, and I’ll never look at a Nathan’s hotdog the same again.
I love this book and this series so much that when it came time for the book to end I did everything in my power to hold out a little bit longer. I wasn’t ready to leave Rockland Falls. And then the finale epilogue, whew that got the tears flowing. I will follow Lacey into any series she creates, she’s an author close to my heart that I’ve read for years.
This book, this entire series, is 10/10, 5 stars, grand slam home run kind of love. I will obviously be rereading this, if I had a hard copy the cover would probably fall off for the amount of times I will reread this. You won’t regret this read.
Samuel Grayson. He is responsibility personified, loves order and sees the world in terms of black or white. Freedom Rayne is a total free spirit that enjoys change and spontaneity. Her personality embodies her name.
Free lives to drive Samuel crazy and has since they were teens. She maybe has a secret crush on the oldest Grayson brother . . . and just maybe Samuel finds her beautiful as well even if he doesn’t always understand her. Complete opposites in every way, there is absolutely no way they could ever work as a couple, right?
But, not everything that happens in Vegas stays there, and now Samuel and Freedom have to decide if their epic night was the biggest mistake of their lives or the best thing that could have ever happened to them.
I’ve been waiting for this book since the beginning of the Rockland Falls series, and Lacey Black did not disappoint! It’s been entertaining watching Samuel and Freedom dance around one another for the past 3 books of the series and I couldn’t wait to see how they finally ended up together, as they really are polar opposites in everything including the fact that Freedom knows that what they have will work and Samuel being worried that because everything was doe backwards, they don’t stand a chance.
Their banter was amazing and hilarious. Freedom is so in your face and Samuel is just not. I loved watching Free continually push Samuel out of his comfort zone in the hopes that he would relax and enjoy life. I have to say that I really enjoyed watching Samuel’s transformation as he earned to appreciate and enjoy everything that Freedom brings to their relationship. And, while she may be a bit of an eccentric and free spirit, Freedom’s love and respect for Samuel is genuine and true and beautiful.
Love and neckties was just fun and joyous to read. And, I have to warn you, super hot as well! Who knew that the man who always wears his tie and worries about germs could bring such heat in and out of the bedroom! 5 stars.
I have loved every book I have read by Lacey Black and Love and Neckties is no different. The Rockland Falls series but Samuel's and Free's book is my absolute favorite. A love story years in the making, though at least one of the couple would deny any attraction but would agree the other was annoying. Samuel is the oldest, most serious of the Grayson siblings. He lives by his black-and-white rules and fun is not in his vocabulary. His solemn demeanor is perfect for a funeral director but the man needs a life outside of work and the occasional family dinner. Enter Freedom, aka Free, his sister's best friend, who makes it her mission to loosen up the uptight Sammy. She needles him every chance she gets and enjoys getting under his skin. While he is monochromatic, Free's life is full of color and light. When Harper, Samuel's sister, and her fiancé, Latham, decide on a Vegas wedding, Samuel is less than excited. He hates crowds, airplanes, and fun but he does love his sister. When Free ends up on the same flight as Samuel, all hell breaks loose and what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas. The story Ms. Black weaves is full of fun, laughter, family, surprises, and the inevitable visits by the world's most inappropriate senior citizens. While Free and Samuel couldn't be more different, they prove the old adage that opposites attract. However, the road to an HEA is full of potholes and doubt and while Ms. Black breaks her characters, she does an excellent job of mending their hearts and joining their souls. This book is addictive. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. Ms. Black definitely leaves this series with a bang. There is no doubt that this is my favorite Lacey Black book to date. But I know this talented author has more great stories up her sleeve and I can hardly wait
"He has no idea what he's in for, or that I"m about to turn his perfectly organized little world upside down."
5 Perfection Stars!! What a great addition to the series... by far my favorite!
Samuel is a perfectionist, which is a complete understatement. He likes things a certain way and that's the way he always does it. He's not willing to let anyone come in and change the way he's been living his entire life... until Freedom steps in. Freedom is a free spirit, flies by the seat of her pants and is bound and determined to get Samuel to live a little. She's known to get on Samuel's nerves for years, and well she loves it. After one explosive night in Vegas, something changes... and it's nothing the ever expected!
I really love this series! The characters are fun and so likeable! I mean Samuel, isn't at first, but trust me he'll grow on you! I love the storyline and I can't help but totally love Freedom. She's everything I look for in a female lead!! Love, love, love this series and loved this book!
4.5 Stars Love and Neckties features Samuel Grayson, the last Grayson sibling of Rockland Falls to find his happy ever after. Samuel is a little odd, and more than a little anal, and as much as I’ve been intrigued by his character I wasn’t sure what to expect from his story, but it didn’t disappoint.
When Samuel and Freedom are thrown together for Harper and Latham’s wedding, the sparks fly.
Samuel is a funeral director, who loves the routine of his work and life. He’s set in his ways and his life is very black and white. He’s a perfectionist and likes everything to be neat, tidy and to have it’s place. He’s a lot more multifaceted than I expected and there were a few surprises when it came to his character.
Freedom is Samuel’s opposite in every way. She’s free spirited, fun, colorful and feisty. Freedom is honest, loud and proud, and likes nothing more than to push Samuel’s boundaries to see if she can get a reaction, from this aloof hero.
This pair of characters are fun, and endearing, their story is a sweet, heartwarming and flirtatious read. Their banter is antagonistic, but also fun, flirtatious and witty.
I’m sad to see the end of the Rockland Falls series, but can’t wait to see what Lacey Black writes next.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Oh my, I absolutely love Freedom she is full of life and humor. Then there is Samuel he is so straight laced and by the book as they come. These two could not be further apart on the personality spectrum. Freedom had me in stitches and kept Sammy on his toes.
Free had a way of annoying Samuel just by calling him by a nick name or saying something inappropriate would get to "Sammy". Free always held a soft spot for Sammy. When Samuel's sister and her best friend was getting married in Vegas she managed to get on the same plane as Samuel. The fun begins at the airport with Free has him try a snack. Oh boy, that was a disaster. The fun does not stop there oh no this is only the beginning for Samuel. Lets say his world has taken a turn.
I absolutely loved watching Freedom and Samuel navigate their relationship. True to Freedoms name she is a free spirit and does/says whatever whenever. Poor Samuel struggles to see anything other than black and white. This causes Sammy so much conflict when it comes to his relationship with Free. I want more of this family they are all so amazing and have their own corkiness about them.
I was really looking forward to this book and for Samuel to get his own happily ever after. However, when I started reading the book, it was difficult to push through to finish it.
I loved Freedom's character because she was non-judgmental, understood Samuel in ways that no one else did, and was really affectionate with him. I did not, however, appreciate how much she swore. I couldn't reconcile the sweet character with one who swore so much. I get that she's sassy, but she really was very crass. There were times when it didn't feel like she cared much about Samuel's feelings. There should be a limit to how much she does to tease him and push his boundaries. I did appreciate the fact that she apologized for painting his living room furniture because that was just going too far.
Though I loved the part where Freedom realizes she can't make Samuel love her, and where Samuel realizes he loved Free, the story didn't realize show much of the two characters sharing themselves with each other enough to really show how they fell in love with each other. Sure, Free has always loved him but spending that much time with him should have had her falling for him more.
I was a little disappointed with how shallow their story was, but the book did redeem itself towards the end.

First off I want to just say the cover of this book is gorgeous. Now onto the review.
This book is book four in the Rockland Falls series and is about the Oldest Grayson sibling, Samuel and Harper’s best friend Freedom. Samuel is an uptight, conservative funeral home director, while Freedom is a free spirited woman of many professions whose favorite pastime is to drive Samuel crazy. This makes for some great moments in the book trust me.
While in Vegas celebrating Harper and Latham’s nuptials the two spend the night drinking which ends up with them waking up in a hotel room naked and married.
I am so in love with Freedom. She is one of my most favorite characters I have ever read and her and Samuel together.......absolute perfection even with them being complete opposites.
This book had everything you could possibly want, humor, romance, great characters, some heat and a HEA.
**I was generously provided with an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
The below are part of this series if you want to read those books(s) first Love and Pancakes (Rockland Falls #1) Love and Lingerie (Rockland Falls #2) Love and Landscape (Rockland Falls #3)
This is Freedom and Samuel’s story. Samuel’s family loves him but think what he does as a funeral directory is weird. He is also a little rigid. What they want him to travel for a wedding he is not happy. He’s really not looking forward to it when he realizes Freedom will be joining him. She pushes all his buttons. When something happens in Vegas, he thinks they can come home and get it taken care of but what happens is that they grow close. But since he is set in his ways and believes things should happen in a certain order is, he about to lose Freedom to a mistake he made? Or can he prove he loves her, and they have a future together?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
This is the 4th book in the Rockland Falls series and is Samuel and Freedom’s story. Dual point of view. No cliffy.
Samuel, or Sammy as Freedom likes to call him, is a funeral director who likes to have order in his world. Everything is black and white…no in between and no color.
And then you have -
Freedom, and yep her name says it all. She is a free spirit and her world is full of color with jobs from being a masseuse to a Reiki healer to lending a hand at Kiss Me Goodnight.
They are total opposites!! They are like night and day, oil and water….and both attracted to each other. All it takes is one trip to Vegas to shake up both their worlds. Does everything that happens in Vegas stay in Vegas?? Not with Sammy and Free! I totally loved their story and found myself laughing many times with the antics of these two!
This whole series needs a novella (or another book) so we can get a glimpse into what is happening say 10 years down the road. I would love a few chapters on Mary Ann’s HEA!!
I highly recommend this book – heck the whole series!
