What was it like to be a part of the first American Chaos? Not just be there, but execute it.What was it like to be a Kronie? A loyal member of the Universal Defiance. What was it like to live in the Asylum? Underground and hidden from the world. What was it like to make a decision that could change everything? Meet MaxMax was your typical Kronie – a loyal member of the Universal Defiance with the goal of overthrowing the tyrannical government of OneGlobal. Max, along with his best friend Chase, had the honor of not only going on the first American Chaos but also being a part of the pre-Chaos a select group of Kronies who would infiltrate All-Mark and clear the path for the rest of the Defiance. But when a personal mission becomes Max’s focus, hard decisions must be made. With Max’s and the Defiance’s fate hanging in the balance, loyalties are put to the ultimate test.
Max is the adrenaline-pumping companion to the Chaos Theory series. Max is a new character (to the reader) in the Chaos world, and his story begins a little before Eve experiences her first Chaos. We get to experience the first Chaos from his perspective, so we get a glimpse of one Kronie's motivation, trepidation, and indecision as these events unfold.
Max is more of a background character in the grand scheme of things, but diving into his story helps to explain why so many boys decide to become Kronies and why they are all fighting OneGlobal. His experience shows that everyone has their own story to tell, and the choices of one person can make all the difference in the world.
Max interacts with some of our favorite characters and reveals more about their personalities and histories. His own story lays the foundation for the future of the Universal Defiance, and he's faced with an impossible decision. The success of the U.D. relies on everyone making decisions for the greater good - but will Max be able to live up to that?
I thought this book was a fun prequel again beautifully written it does clear things up a bit and I really liked Max I hope he makes more appearances later on in the series. full review to come!
A nice companion to the Initiation novel that gives a wider scope of the story. Told from a different point of view it adds additional layers to world and has some fun and interesting connections to the original story.
