The final book of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling Rose Gardner Investigations series.

When a body shows up south of Henryetta, Rose knows trouble is on the horizon. Rufus Wilson worked for the county crime lord, Skeeter Malcolm, and she soon discovers Wilson had a special skill set—he could crack safes.

Now everyone is looking for Wilson’s girlfriend, including Rose, and it doesn’t take her long to realize Wilson’s murder might actually be connected to something else, something bigger. Hardshaw Group, a Dallas crime syndicate, is meeting a South American drug cartel in the county, only no one knows the time and place.

Denny Carmichael’s drug empire has a lot to lose if they move in, so now he’s calling in the favor he insists Rose owes him—find him the time and location. Or else.

Rose is a hair’s breadth away from losing everyone she loves, including her six-week-old daughter, and she’ll do anything she can to save them.

I'm not crying, you're crying.

I was both extremely excited and very sad to finish the last Rose Gardner book. I made it last as long as I could. Which was approximately 16 hours. I didn't want it to end but I needed to know what happened.

I honestly think it was the best possible ending we could have. With everything wrapped up and plenty of happiness mixed with a little sadness. Some characters redeeming themselves and others digging their own graves. It really was the perfect ending to this amazing series that took us for a wild ride. I'm not saying anything else because I don't want to give anything away.

I will continue to recommend this series to everyone I possibly can. Anyone that needs an adventure. Anyone that needs an escape. Or anyone just looking for some amazing entertainment. It had a little bit of everything and was truly one of a kind. In the thousands of books I have come across in my life, I have never read anything close. Rose will always have a place in my heart.

Thank you so much Denise for this incredible story.

I just said goodbye to a dear friend today. I have laughed. I have cried. I have been angry. She has been through both the highs and lows of my life. When I needed a friend to escape with she has been there.

If you know Rose you have watched her grow from a young lost woman to a strong woman ready to take on anything that comes her way. We have cheered for her through many things.

This book tied up all the loose ends. I got all my answers. I think that we seen everyone that mattered on this rollercoaster ride.
There was no stone left unturned.

My heart felt everything this book offered. My brain said no that's not going to happen. In the end it all comes into place. The final showdown. The ending we all knew was coming. Epic lies. Epic betrayal. Epic loyalty.

The End. The final words to a lifetime friendship. It all started when I opened the book and read twenty-eight and a half wishes by Denise Grover Swank. Chapter 1

Hey, I survived with tears streaming down my cheeks! I can't remember I've been this nervous and terrified while waiting for this book though that feeling didn't go away when I finally got to reading "It All Falls Down". IT WAS THE BEST BOOK! The final showdown. The most possible perfect ending to the fabulous Rose Gardner series! It's been years of incredible journey with Rose and her amazing gang. We had the privilege being on this rollercoaster ride along with them. Laughed, cried, been scared, happy, anxious, sad and heartbroken, terrified guessing whats and hows all the time. They all became my dearest friends, literally, you just instantly fell in love with them. And now we have to say goodbyes to them. It's a bittersweet moment. All my questions are answered, all the lose ends tied up beautifully. We got to be a part of some redemption and justice, craziness, saddness, happiness and love, the unconditional and blanketing, cuddling love.
To say that Denise Grover Swank kept me on the edge of my seat with my heart in my throat throughout this book is an understatement! All my expectations were outdone and I'm able to expect anything if you know the author for so long!
You don't want to miss this grand finale!

A lovely but bittersweet ending for my all-time favorite mysteries series in the world. I was so happy Joe and Rose receive the ending they so deserve but I am such a sucker for a redemption story and James was a favorite of mine. I guessed what was going on with him from the very first chapter but that he couldn’t get a hopeful ending broke my heart. I also had some trouble with Rose’s decisions. BUT, Ms Swank did a fantastic job of tying up all the threads we have been following throughout the series.
SO... I leave Rose and friends saddened, because they have been such a joyful part of my life but satisfied because they - and I, are happy to have taken the journey.

Boy oh boy....that was one epic finale. I have been on this ride with Rose since the beginning and I have seen her grow from a naive youngster who endured hardships at home to a confident and capable woman who could hold her own in any situation. There have been a few times throughout both series that I wasn’t sure I was liking where Rose was going, and I stand by those but I do feel this ending is where she should be. I loved her becoming a mother and settling on the farm with her choice in beau. This book, as with the others, is fast paced and will keep you on your toes trying to work out all those loose ends and coming to terms with all the outcomes. This is a fabulous series for all mystery lovers. You will get plenty of laughs, cry along the way but you will fall in love with a great bunch of characters that will stay with you forever. Thank you DGS for giving us Rose and her entourage.

I am giving this book all the stars and more. This was one hell of a rollercoaster that I'd gladly ride over and over again. It All Falls Down is by far my favorite book and I honeslty don't know how I am going to get over this book hangover.

Twenty eight and half wishes pulled you in from the very start and I am happy to say that It All Falls Down continues to keep you captivated. I was glued to my kindle and may or may not have neglected my family for a majority of the day. And I don't regret it one bit.

Denise did not disappoint with this last book in the series, so many questions were answered. At the end of it all I am left with a happy heart. I won't lie I am sad to see it end, but happy to have been on this journey with Rose. Because let's face it, it felt like we were going through it all with her. Thank you for following your heart Denise and giving us Rose and her story.

I wanted to give this 5 stars but what happened to James wasn't right. Rose should have told the DEA and ATF why he didn't make the meeting? I know some might say well maybe he didn't want her to tell because then people would know Hope was his baby. I just feel not right that he is jail for life.

YALL! I just finished It All Falls Down and all I can do is applaud Denise for her wonderful writing and literally serving her heart to us on a silver platter with every book she writes. My feelings were on a roller coaster the entire time I was reading (I literally couldn't put it down and had to force myself to sleep last night!), but she gave us the most perfect ending I could have imagined for Rose.

Rose has been on quite the journey over the last few years and it all started when she saw herself dead. Never would she have imagined that she would now be a part of the Fenton County criminal underworld, even if she is a neutral player in it. Rose has built up quite the village for herself and her daughter, Hope, but when she realizes that she is one of the only people who can help stop Hardshaw from taking over the county she's faced with some life or death choices. Will Rose, with the help of her village, be able to to stop Hardshaw and ensure that she doesn't lose everything she loves?

This book perfectly wraps up the entire Rose series. It gives you the answers to every imaginable lose end and maybe even some you forgot about. It will make you sad, happy, and angry, and then turn around and do it all again. When I said that my emotions were on a roller coaster ride, I wasn't exaggerating! If you haven't read any of the Rose books, please do yourself a favor and start with 28 1/2 Wishes, I promise you won't regret it!

Well done Denise, well done! And THANK YOU!

I think it was a good decision to end the Rose Gardner series. If this had not been the final book then I would have quit the series with the previous book.

I very much dislike James' storyline, he absolutely deserved better than spending the rest of his life in jail for saving Rose and Hope. Rose and James had real chemistry, which she lacked with Joe. That's why I'm disappointed that Rose ended up with Joe. It feels like settling and the previous books tried so hard to make Joe seem like just a good friend and constantly confirming that the romantic ship had sailed that it felt off for her to end up with him.

Also the book felt rushed like the author just wanted to get it done. Much of the book took place on the farm and it was a bit too serious. Also for being the final book there was not enough attention for the side characters: Bruce Wayne, Maeve, Mason, etc.

I've read the entire series and it's been my guilty pleasure over the years, but I don't think I'll miss it as it lost a bit of the fun in the last couple of books.

Oh my stars!! Where do I even begin? I’m at a loss of words. The final installment is a compelling read. It definitely pulls at your heartstrings, and it’s certainly a page turner! I enjoyed the laugh out loud moments too. The villains come out to play, and they are out to hurt anyone that gets in their way. Will Rose be able stop them in time?

It’s been a beautiful journey following Rose and the gang. Thank you Denise for allowing us on this journey.

4.5* cause I cannot bring myself to give it 5* over that ending. it was more like the previous books, exciting, interesting, tense, feely, but James Daniel Skeeter Malcolm deserves the world and sure as hell a better ending. all in all it was a great series, and I will read the Neely Kate one too, but first I need some time to collect myself.💔😞🖤

My journey with Rose ends with reading It All Falls Down. I am saddened that this is the final book in Rose Gardner’s series. Rose’s Journey isn’t over but it is complete. I’ve been privileged to be a part of her life.

In 2013 while reading Twenty-Eight and One Half Wishes, I met Rose Ann Gardner, began to think of her as a dear friend and started a wonderful journey. As each book ended, I would anxiously wait to be a part of Rose’s next adventure in her life. Rose blossomed and grew while searching to find her own voice. Many of her adventures were humorous, others put her in perilous jeopardy. Rose became fearless when fighting for what she believed.
Rose developed faithful, loving friends and experienced the joy and pain associated with her choices, losses and love. Rose struggled and reconciled her relationship with her sister. She transformed from a shy, beaten down twenty four year old into a confident business woman and a young mother whose life is just now beginning.

This statement says mountains about the author Denise Grover Swank. Rose’s story is told by weaving friends, family and emotions like humor, loneliness, pain, fear, determination, anger and love that have been fanciful, realistic and raw. Denise has completed a beautifully tapestry.

To say that I was excitedly terrified about this novel is an understatement. I mean I was so nervous about this book that I felt physically sick to my stomach when I opened up that first chapter. I’ve spent so many years of my life reading Rose books and to think this was the last one? Would I get all my answers? Would I be happy with the ending? Well, I’m here to tell y’all that I don’t know why I even got so nervous because Denise delivers in a way I should have never even doubted!

This book is amazing. We get redemption, justice, love, happiness, sadness, some (okay a lot of) craziness, and more happiness all tied up in a beautiful bow. So many answers and so much to imagine for yourself for Rose’s future. I cried my eyes out both in sadness and happiness. There may have been one plot aspect I wish had gone a slightly different direction for my poor heart, but I can’t fault Denise for the direction that went. This continues to be one of my top favorite series of all time and Denise did a beautiful job of wrapping it up for us. I highly recommend the entire series and you don’t want to miss out on the final novel!

This is the seventh and last book in the Rose Gardner Mysteries series and I loved every minute of it! I am going to miss Rose, Neely Kate and all their friends. I enjoyed reading about Hope and all the love her parents show her. And Muffy turns out to be a great babysitter! Rose winds up one more mystery and brought us to a fabulous ending. I thoroughly recommend this book and this series.

I had thought I would wait to read this, since I knew it was the final book. I made it 5 days.

*sigh of contentment* It is very seldom that you finish a series without a feeling of loss, let alone with all the loose ends wrapped up. I can be quite the critic when it comes to endings, as they aren't always done that well. (Not everyone can be Parks and Rec.) So I do not say lightly that this is one of the best endings to a series that I've ever experienced.

Denise ties up all the loose ends, and gives us (the readers AND the characters) what we deserve.

We (finally) find out about poor Dermot (whose family was murdered when he choose the criminal world instead of his family, unlike Rose), and know that the county is now safe with him on top.

We FINALLY find out James/Skeeter's deal; he WAS working with the feds (well, the DEA and ATF) and WAS pushing Rose away to protect her (he knew he'd be going away to jail and didn't want his kid having a father like that). Although they decided to have a clean cut, and he asked her to forget him (as he'll be in jail for life), there's still closure there due to him saving Rose and their baby. And him having that intimate moment with Hope. So. Friggin. Precious. Denise gave him the best ending she could while keeping it realistic.

Things with Crazy Kate are wrapped up; NK puts a stop to her final "gift" (killing Rose so Neely Kate could have her baby, Hope AND giving her one of the Hardshaw Three) by killing Kate before she could kill Rose or Joe or Skeeter. Gosh I love when NK shows off her gun skills, even though I know it probably broke her heart killing Kate, who she loved in her own way.

Jed and NK are not only married, but now have a beautiful adopted daughter, Daisey!

Muffy is alive and well! I'm so glad she was just drugged when Hope was kidnapped, and nothing worse. And Rose sees the horses coming back in her vision of Hope's future.

Speaking of horses, turns out they SHOULD have been suspicious of Margi- she was working with Hardshaw the whole time, but she, too, was killed. Levi, however, was innocent the whole time. Poor guy just wanted to help his cousin (NOT sister) out by giving her a fresh start somewhere new.

Mike will serve jail time for a few years because of all his work for Hardshaw, but the kids are with Rose and Joe (like they should be).

Denny Carmichael is in jail, thanks to Rose giving him information about the big deal (knowing there was going to also be a big sting- thanks for the tip-off, Mason!). A lot of Hardshaw men and Southern African drug people are put away. The bad Collard guys were also busted, but now Brox is one of Dermot's men.

Mason did his part to make sure the sting was carried out. Early on, Rose has him hold Hope, and they reflect on how things could have been different. But Rose was happy it wasn't. She encouraged Mason to date and find someone new, which is the best ending we could have hoped for Mason.

Anna and Bruce Wayne are expecting! Yay for them!

The only person who I don't feel like has a happily ever after is Witt, but I'm kinda hoping maybe something will play out for him with Carly's story, but who knows. Since only one of the three Hardshaw men have been shut down, there's more for her to bust, but I think the jar has been loosened, so to speak. Now it's time for Carly to shut. it. down. (Plus, Rose said she sent her an email- I'm looking forward to where the Carly book will pick up).

And best of all, Joe and Rose are married and ready to live their happily ever after.

I love the references Denise makes to her old books, and her ability to recap the growth and changes Rose has made through this series. The way that Joe quits being a sheriff to protect Rose is such a huge gesture and shows us how much he has grown and matured, too. It is also the perfect way to recap the series, as she has to get him up to speed on everything that she'd been a part of. But my favorite reference is at the end, when she says that the best day of her life was when she saw herself dead (a reference to the first line of the whole series). From being a timid, sheltered girl, to a crimeworld leader and just overall boss who saves the county and finally has her happily ever after. It's. Just. Perfect.

I'm going to miss Rose, but I plan to reread the whole series this summer. Denise is just a wonderful writer and Rose is like a friend I'll never forget. Thank you, Denise, for this fantastic series.

Disappointing ending

Let me first say that I’ve followed the Rose Gardner series from the beginning. Loved most and thought some were just okay. This ending was very mediocre and predictable. Lacking a lot of the things that made her first books good.

It felt rushed, like the author was no longer engaged in the story and just wanted to close it up. I have to also say that “When the bough breaks” was a great story, kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved it.

This book was very disappointing. Sorry to the others who loved it, but I expected more. Much more.

And so a great series ends with the same brilliance it started. Of course, there will be some (myself included) disappointed that there is no HEA for one of the major characters, but that was to be expected. I mean, roughly half the fans wanted a certain ending while the other half wanted the opposite. It stood to reason there’d be more than a broken heart when all was said and done. The fact that the author could provoke such levels of passion is proof enough of her awesome skills.
I do wonder, though, if this Y-shaped fork between possible endings and the opposing views among fans was the author’s intention all along, or if it just simply happened. It seems to me she put a lot of effort in the last two installments to swerve people’s opinions about the two main male characters. Perhaps a little too much effort. At some point, I lamented that a series that was so great in showing shades became so black and white. Luckily, there was a much-expected twist at the very end that made it return to its right track. And what an end it was!

What a phenomenal end to my favorite series. I’m still processing, and emotions are still high. But the roller coaster of emotions I was just taken on, is one for the books. I’ve never experienced emotions so hard for a book like I did for It All Falls Down.

Whether you’re Team Joe, Team James, Team Mason or Team Rose, all the loose ends are tied up to make all readers happy with the ending. It doesn’t matter which team you’re on throughout this story.

As usual, Rose gathers information about the big things happening in the county as well as dealing with the newest changes in her life. But one thing is for certain, Rose has grown into a strong, independent woman that demands respect from even the worst criminals of Fenton County. She’s grown into her role and many people have helped her along the way to get her where she is today.

I’m sad that it’s over, for now, but if we don’t get anything else, I’m happy with the happily ever after that Rose finally gets. Excuse me while I go wipe up my emotional tears from this story.

I have been reading this series from the very beginning. To say that I’m not ready for it to end is an understatement. But, all great things must come to an end... eventually.

This book is the epitome of the stellar talent and skill Swank has in weaving a story so real that you feel like these characters have become a part of your family and you’ve become invested in their well being. It’s been an absolute privilege to be on this beautiful journey with Rose over the years. To see how she’s grown throughout the series. To have shared in her pain, happiness, loss, and love. The friends that she’s chosen as her family, the bond they’ve created, and the strong confident roles that they lead. You will not be disappointed. Just know that the finale will be epic and every thing you hoped for and more. There’s always a great book that leaves a mark on your heart, this book is one of mine.

Very few authors have the power to reach deep into your soul and Swank definitely wields that power with a graceful hand. I will always look forward to more from this amazing author and I absolutely cannot wait to see what brilliant stories she has for us next!

What an exhilarating emotion filled journey! Denise Grover Swank has certainly outdone herself with this action packed finale that will keep readers guessing at the fate of Rose and company until the very end.
My heart was in my throat for more than half of this book. I was feeling equally anxious to know what happens next and worried about where Rose's story would leave her.
Rose Gardner fans know this series and these characters work their way into your heart and don't let go. I still remember in January of 2016, I binge read the first 8 books in just over a week. After that I anxiously awaited the release of each subsequent installment. These are the types of stories that you cannot put down until you reach the end. While it will be weird to not be waiting for the next Rose book, I have enjoyed every moment of reading Rose's journey! I highly recommend this entire series!

Such a rollercoaster of a book. Emotions all over the place. While I’m personally not thrilled with how some of the story was wrapped up, it really is the perfect ending to the series. Just like all of the other books it’s packed with action, heartache, deceit, and love. Such a great ending to a fantastic series.

I finished this no less than 3 minutes ago and I’m still trying to find all the words. I have been reading Denise’s work since I stumbled upon her in like 2012 or 2013... and I say this with all the love I have for her and her book, Denise this is the best book I’ve read of yours (yes, including After Math- cuz you know I’ve read that boom too many times to count). By far my most favorite book.

The emotions were all over the place. I was biting my nails through the whole thing. Tears would randomly invade my eye ball making it really hard to read. Laughter would annoy my kids every time I laughed out loud and parts. But, nothing could have prepared me for what happened. Complete perfection.

While I will miss diving into Roses’ life, I know that the was the best ending for a series. Denise you are an amazing author. This book proved how amazing and talented you are. I can’t wait to read what you think of next!

I am so glad I decided to take a chance on an unknown author to me, Denise Grover Swank, back in 2012. I was introduced into the world of Rose Gardner and haven’t looked back since. I have read every book by her and I can honestly say that this is her BEST BOOK yet! It is a superb, flawless story that ends the series perfectly. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, it couldn’t have been wrapped up any better. It is a page turner that pulled at my heartstrings and took me on a fantastic journey.

Lingering questions over the past few books are answered and there were some revelations and events that shocked me. I laughed, cried, was scared and yet was full of peaceful contentment at the end. This book takes the series full circle in the best way possible.

I will be revisiting Rose every once in a while, as she and all the characters are like my family. Don’t miss this book or the entire series. You will not be disappointed! (Just ask all the friends I have gotten hooked on Rose.)

This is the end of a very long journey and I am going to miss reading about Rose. It was one of the books I anxiously waited for every year. I have mixed feelings about the end, I am happy and sad all at the same time. I was hoping for a different kind of ending so I find myself disappointed but yet, as I try to think it through, maybe not as disappointed as I thought I would be. I enjoyed the book and am happy that we now have answers for all the pending questions.
I felt a lot of different emotions while reading this which is a testament to Denise Grover Swank. I am going to miss the characters that I have invested years in and I wrapped up this series with tears streaming down my face.

One of my favorites series, just disappointed in this book

I have loved this series from the very first paragraph of the very first book. I’ve read all of the others series that have branched off of this one too.
I’m just upset by the ending. This is not at all how I was hoping it would end. Not only that, but a phrase in the last few pages just kept repeating itself. I almost feel like it was rushed to be finished.
The book was written well. And the storyline kept me glued to the book. I couldn’t put it down. The last few chapters just weren’t up to par for me.

3 stars last for final before the 2024 years in the future addition.

The series ended how I expected due to the author being mainly a traditional style. She has definitely wrung our hearts through the ringer with three men, and I enjoyed Rose's time with all three of them at the time. While I liked Joe more with his change, and I get he is the right fit for the cookie cutter type of ending she wanted for Rose with the white fence and bundles of kiddos, to me the series was strong for most of the time because the characters were exciting and interesting. Joe used to have good traits and bad, but that made him realistic. She made him so shiniy perfect that it made him one dimensional, less realistic and a bit dull. With him Rose seems more generic, hard to explain. I knew with Skeeter, who she decided to destroy for several books so Rose could end up with Joe, that it would come through that his assurances to her he was working on something would come out - but she really set to end everything for him horribly. I still think she felt the most intense with him before the author started distancing him and changing the situation. Also even if not togrher, why get so brutal? Yech. At least there is a spin off featuring him I'll try, which helps a bit, but hate all the bonds were so broken off last few books as that to me took a lot away from the series. Not different for Mason either with basic despressing ending, who was my second favorite after James Malcolm. I did like him working with Rose more but the author hardly has him around, which is a shame. I was happy Dermot was around a lot at least, Carmichael stayed creepy, Lady in Black was there sometimes in full force glory (even Joe with the business card idea which i enjoyed...) I was excited on that, but then the author decides at the ending to undo that as well. Neely Kate again sadly stayed one dimensional too - she was so complex and fun in the first series, but she became only about plot of trauma and baby obsession - however, I did like the wrap up and oddness with Kate. Also happy to hear on Brox! But...lack of Bruce Wayne mainly too? Jonah has been around maybe a sentence or two for a few books now too, which is also disappointing. And why did the author give Rose new power possibilities with her vision for the final book? That would have been cooler to start doing earlier books - but again the improved power with multiple visions disappeared after one book as well several books again.

I've been following Rose's Journey for numerous years now, I've watched her fall in love, get her heart broken more than once, put herself in danger to save others, and grow into this amazing women. I have so much mixed feelings about this being the end . . . but I know Denise trust her judgment immensely and therefore I should as well.

It All Falls Down carries so much at stake for everyone. There's a lot of ugliness that happens in the book, just as a fair warning. But in the end, all will prevails.

Rose will do anything to protect and save the one she loves . . . but can she do it alone? Absolutely not, a few people rise and follow her lead.

I think in this book Rose learned how to change her visions, along with her friends who also helped change her visions. It's a good lesson for her knowing that she can change the outcomes of her visions whether she knows how or not.

I'm not picking sides anymore; I've learned from reading this book that the heart wants what it wants. Rose has shown me that, so I'm letting go of my opinion of who Rose should be with or shouldn't be with. I'm happy for her and that she got her happy ending along with finally putting up her Lady in the Black role for good.

James aka Skeeter Malcolm showed his true intentions and his reasonings behind everything. I wished his actions were different, but I know James always has good intentions despite how it is done.

As much I don't want this to be the end of Rose, but Denise made the right decision by ending it as much as it pains me to say it. I think we will all expect that Rose will make an appearance in Carly Moore's series.

When a new body shows in Henryetta, Rose knows trouble is on the horizon. Rufus Wilson worked opening safes and his girlfriend has information about one of his jobs. Now everyone is looking for her and the more we learn, the more we find answers to previous questions.

I find myself unable to delve into this book without saying any spoilers, but I can tell you that this, this book 7 and final of the Rose Gardner Investigations, was PERFECT.

Clues are popping all over the place and Denise wraps up all the lingering questions that we had from previous books and most importantly, we finally have closure for everything! I truly believe this was the perfect ending for this series. Would I love more? Of course! Denise is a master writer and everything she writes is amazing (and yes, even the stories that I didn't love were created in wonderful worlds) But I think Rose's story is completely over, I can't think of anything else that she would need to say. However, I think that you could still tell more about the other characters in Henryetta, so here is hope that we can have some glimpses into this part of Rose's universe. Also if you like this story and haven't read Carly Moore, what are you waiting for? After this book, I'm excited to read the next book!
