I Really Tried..

I wanted to enjoy this. I made it through the first book and figured it would get better in the second, but it doesn’t. The premise has merit and the characters could be really good, but so far these stories are meandering and so meaningless. They don’t go anywhere in terms of character development with anyone. It’s mostly two early 20 somethings talking like teens or anyone just getting through the day in an RV..the dialogue is mostly mindless stuff with action scenes so few and far between that there’s rarely any tension. It’s non-stop road trip with banal conversation and I gave up. They got a star for not having lots of editing errors, I did appreciate that.

Another good series

My one open question? What will happen with the stone? I have to admit, reading these all in one box set is better than in piecemeal as following Lily and Romeo around and not knowing what other issues / challenges they would face until they reached their end goal of finding Lily's mom would have driven me a little insane. The many varied characters, the crazy nature of what they faced next, the fact that they were led on a wild goose chase with a variety of bad guys and no idea who they could trust while not inconspicuous in their mode of transportation? It was fun to read. They had some luck on their side too. Sure, they made / stumbled on some allies but overall they had to adapt too.

Glad things ended the way they did.

Wow..

Having picked up random box sets on unlimited I was expecting the usual poorly edited, weak storyline. Oh boy was that the exact opposite of what I got!!

Lily Andrews is in her early twenties, her mother, Greta a rich and world famous archaeologist, has died. However there's no body, no proof and Lily is convinced that she's out there somewhere being held against her will.

Whoever is controlling this has managed to also forge a will that leaves Lily penniless with only the most insignificant mementos from her mother's life. A business card and a broken metal object provide the first clue, all she needs now is transport and a travelling companion.. her mother's accountant provides a Winnebago and her childhood friend, Romeo Stephens, a werewolf provides the muscle, music and friendship as they set out to find Greta.

I was really gripped, the variety of places, paranormals and events draw you deeper and deeper into Lily's world. It's a voyage of discovery, of evil, of betrayal but also of friendship, love and determination.

I borrowed it but I think I have to go back and actually buy it because I would like to read it again maybe in a year or two. I'm definitely going to check out other books by the author.

One thing I did find odd was the author notes.. some were really just odd. Nothing to do with the story though so on a reread I'm skipping them!! Lol

It's not over till I sing

Nope, not ready to say goodbye to Lily and her exceptional band of supernatural beings. There is plenty more ideas floating in the ether. Children of a witch and a wolf and with a grandmother like Greta? I'd be glued to my reading chair. Now if you are reading this review to see if you should read the series, of course you should and make sure to read the writers notes at the end of each story. Michael is quite entertaining and Martha is very illuminating. Thank you , Judith for your talented contributions. So, like I said, I haven't sung yet so start writing more. Lily has more to say!

Enjoyable way for me to spend a few days off, reading about some very nice and some very nasty people from all over the world. People who use magic are the focus, including a subgroup of individuals who are special, the werewolves. My favorite segment (don 't ask me which book, I read them back to back) is when in Mexico, the protagonists meet and rescue a couple of children who have been kidnapped. Upon returning them to their family they encounter a rich culture in the village and go on the most wonderful trip with the villagers. Look for it.
Please enjoy the stories of the young witch and her partner the wolf, in the Winnie.

When I first started the series I wasn't sure I would give it more than 3 stars. It seemed a little disjointed to me. As I continued to read however it held my interest and I needed answers to the questions I had. The entire series consists of eight books. I like to read a series from beginning to end if possible. The complete series being offered was one of the reasons I chose it. Lily is a witch whose mother has died but she finds clues to find and save her. No one believes her when she says her mother is still alive except her childhood friend, a werewolf that is packless and not welcomed by the witch world. Each book and their adventures gets better.

One Witch Too Few
Book 1 of 8 in the series
2021 grade B+

This is a fun read and one of the best uses of magic I have ever seen. It is just there, part of the world. The emphasis is on using the magic instead of finding or hiding it.

The story has great world building and character development. It is mostly character driven and is what I call a journey novel. The characters go on a road trip encountering various obstacles on the way to overcome until the end when they can solve the problem that started it all. I would have been frustrated if I had this book only because it does not resolve all, or even enough of, the initial issues. (It would have gotten a lower grade!) But I got the Omnibus with supposedly the compete series so I should be OK.

Witch Way To Go
Book 2 of 8 in the series
2021 grade C-

Book one was grade B+ even if not very memorable. The author did an excellent job reminding me of what happened in book one though. Basically the series is a search for the witch's missing mom. At the end of book one they found a clue to go to Mexico next.

This book is basically two people on an RV road trip from Canada to Mexico with a few major and minor incidents along the way. The first major incident was another witch conclave at a lake. I found that incredibly dull and started speed reading massively. The last major incident was at the conclusion and I didn't even like it.

A tip often given to authors is, "No one is interested in the bus ride." The sad thing is the total contribution to the long story arc is a single clue to go to Guatemala next. The protagonists drove off...

I intend to skip to books 7 and 8 where mom is found and the villains are thwarted. I wonder what countries they will be in.

Books 3, 4, 5 and 6 = Grade Z (They were skipped)

A Witch and A Hard Place
Book 7 of 8 in the series

2021 grade C

Because I skipped books 3, 4, 5, and 6, there were some content discrepancies at the start. (I suspect 6 should not be skipped.) But in some ways the discrepancies made it more interesting since I had to figure out what happened. They became unimportant pretty fast and disappeared later. I still found it a bit tedious and speed read quite a bit.

The content pretty much follows the same formula, but diverged a little when they found the prison and mom. That part was still tedious with all the character posturing and torture (sped through lots of that!). Mom was rescued and they all ended up in a soft cliff hanger.

The conclusion (book 8) next but not right away.

Homeward Witch
Book 8 of 8 in the series

2021 grade C-

Sadly, I found this book routine and predictable and exactly the story I expected. It is basically all the same characters with no significant new character development or world building and just leads up to the giant final battle. Since I'm not a fan of battles, there was not much to interest me.

= = = = = = = = = = = =

Overall.

This is more of an "epic" than a series novels and I lost interest as it went along. Still, for the low price I paid, it was worth reading and other people have different preferences and might like it far better. It really is not bad. So don't let me put you off and thanks to the author and publisher for making it available.

Magic crazy series

This series was very illuminating and disturbing. Packed with adventure, action, magic and emotion. Greed for power, racism, good friends, family…all are featured here. Still what is going on in the world today, just disguised as magical beings instead of politicians and businessmen, businesswomen. But I absolutely love that good always wins over evil. Family and friends are always stronger than associations…read on, takes a while but definitely worth it.

Enjoyable from page one to the last!

What's not to love about a witch, a werewolf, and a Winnebago Adventuremoble going on a magical quest around the world? Lily, the witch, gathers her best friend since childhood to rescue her dead (supposedly) dead mom from evil. The story flows well, you root for all the characters, and mourn the final page in this wonderful series. Keep reading, and make sure you follow all the authors for more wonderful adventures!

I read this collection in one lot. Took me approx a week and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series.
It took me on an adventure that covered from Canada down to Mexico and all over to Europe, then to Libya before returning to Southern states of the US.
It was all that I would expect for a good fantasy and kept my interest peaked all the way from beginning to the end.
Another author for me to follow.
Can and do recommend, great story

An excellent family adventure

A very easy read. I always make the mistake of reading before going to sleep, which is fine when you you have a slow moving story, which in parts this is, but then it erupts into fun and mayhem and you have to keep reading with sleep a distant memory. A family story that a family can enjoy together but still gripping over all. I would certainly recommend to anyone from teenage to wrinkly who enjoy a magical read

I'm on book six, The Witch Returns. This is a terrific series, very imaginative, original, exciting, and fun.

One thing irritated me at first: the term "smirk" and "snort" appear on nearly every page, but I got over it because they're always in context and I don't think she could have found better words to describe what the characters were feeling, even in a Thesaurus lol. So don't let that put you off reading this excellent series. I couldn't stop reading it.

A rollicking adventure story with just a bit of magic thrown in

Ms. Carr has done justice to her genre and to us, our audience with an interesting story, good plot organization, likeable characters and oh yes, a saving the world ending. I don’t know that I should have binge read all eight but to tell you how good they are, I never paused. If you enjoy magical urban fantasy, this is a great series to dive into. Well done.

Witchiness Extraordinaire!

This omnibus was a wild ride from start to finish!
Very grim and gory at times, but fascinating and will take you places you have NEVER been before and some places you would never want to go. The witchy business in this series is like nothing I have ever read before. The concepts and plot development in these books are totally original and mind blowing! Fasten your seatbelts, it’s gonna be an experience beyond any of your strangest expectations!

I waded through this book for a few weeks before I finally came to the end and thank goodness that is over. This wasn't really a book, it was more of a never-ending movie like Kevin Kostner always comes up with. I only continued the book because I expected some spectacular ending. What a letdown. I felt like much of this book didn't really make a lot of sense and I won't be reading this author again. Sorry.

A terrific adventure story where two young people go on a quest. They encounter many mystical and magical creatures on their travels which keeps the story going. It is a long read but is hard to put down.
The couple seem to be thwarted at every turn but manage to win out over every obstacle. My one complaint about the series is the ease with which they overcome obstacles.
Otherwise this is a very enjoyable series.

Interesting Read

The editing problems became increasingly severe with each book as though they gave up almost entirely by the end. That said, the plot held together reasonably well and was entertaining, tho there were many glitches and unanswered questions left. Also, I had a massive sense of de ja vu as tho certain scenarios were ripped directly from another book I've read, but can't pin down which one. Overall, the story kept my interest and was an easy read.

Magical saga.

I have just finished binge reading the complete series. I think it is one of the most well written saga's I have read over many years. Every book in the series was exiting and each one was slightly different to hold the interest throughout to an exiting conclusion. Well done to the authors. Excellent read.

Loved the story and kept turning pages into the night when I should have been getting some sleep. It covered fantasy, romance, magic, adventure and just touched on many other genres that I love reading about. I especially loved the fact that it was a box set so I could do a marathon and just keep going. If you haven't read it yet, I sincerely suggest you pick it up.

A lot of the action/adventure takes place in rural settings.

Lily and Romeo are on the trail of her mother. They travel the world meeting lots of magic users not mentioned in other Oriceran books. This series has a different take on werewolves. Book 2 had continuity errors but this was a well edited series. I binge read it.

Extraordinary!

I highly recommend this fantastic series, particularly in this omnibus format at this phenomenal price. It has all the action, adventure, humor, romance, magic, and more that any one could every ask for from the series beginning to its end. The total package in an easy to binge format. Enjoy!

Bleh

The writing is juvenile and simplistic. The story could not hold my attention. In a matter of maybe 5 pages you get a reference to a collar with a gag ball (sic!) and a description of spilled beans (literally). There are so many better books that I decided not to waste 24h reading on. DNF

Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down and had plenty of late nights. The story line is excellent and I have read the whole series. I hope there are more adventures for Lily and Romeo as they are such a good team together. I really hope the writer continues with these characters and look forward to reading their next adventure.

I couldn’t stop reading

I initially thought this was a trilogy, so I thought I’d give it a read. I actually didn’t realize Michael Anderle was a coauthor. (His books are always great). Needless to say, I’ve only put this omnibus down to eat & sleep. I loved their adventures & was pleased that this wasn’t just another book about witches & werewolves. Highly recommend!

Fantastic series

I chose this series because it looked like fun and it was long enough to tell the complete story. It satisfies in every way. Action, adventure, strong female lead, good vs evil, and not sappy love. It was perfection on a page. I can't wait to start reading their other series '.

Great read but some misspelling!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The only problem I have with it was the incorrect spelling of the word "whoa" which you kept spelling wrong throughout the book. I made many notations.

An Urban Fantasy Action Adventure: Books 1-9

Wow what an adventure they were. They were way beyond what I expected and surprised me very much. I'm not to much into sci-fi but it did fit well into these stories. I also loved the travel from USA to Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and through the far east and back around. And don't leave out a visit to another dimension. The characters were crazy weird, funny and wild. A lot of imagination went into these stories and made them very impressive.
