USA Best Selling Author Coffee addict! Dog Lover:) I love writing creative stories that will pull you into a new reality and keep you on the edge of your seat through out.
As my first book I am happy but know I can do a lot better! This story has some heat so don't be fooled;) I hope you fall in love with my characters as much as I did!
Thank you D.D Larsen for my {partner} copy of PERFECT in exchange for an honest review.
Two words that come to mind when I think about this book - LUST AND SEXUAL CHEMISTRY! Holy moly ... this is NOT a book to read around your children. I felt my cheeks flushing with every turn of the page. Larsen certainly knows how to serve up something HOT AND STEAMY and do not let the book cover fool you ... this is definitely explicit, which I know so many people love!
And let's be honest ... who doesn't want their own Kieran? Um, hello! A gorgeous man who is obsessed with everything you do AND fiercely protects? Sign me up ... his character was certainly endearing and as the novel progressed, I found myself liking him more and more. His air of mystery and the element of researching her family was definitely unique. I would have liked to see a bit more character building between he and Seryna and perhaps a little less sex (can't even believe I am saying that out loud!). Based on the description of the novel, I was a bit surprised that the majority of the novel was based on their physical relationship vs. the investigation.
You'll be able to read this book in one sitting. And I know I have seen a lot of other reviewers post about the cliffhanger, but D.D. come on! Is there a sequel in the works? I would certainly be interested in seeing where things go!
Don't let that cute contemporary cover trick you, this book is SPICY and HOT! If you enjoy sexy books with a hot, powerful man this is definitely for you. It gives all these 50 shades of grey vibes, so if you enjoy a book full of lust and chemistry between the characters this is a good recommendation!
The story focuses on an instantaneous love between Seryna and Kieran, I am not the biggest fan of love-at-first-sight tropes however Kieran ends up winning your heart by the end of the book. The good thing is that the main character and everyone else in the book is aware that their love was instantaneous, which for me made a big difference in making me able to relate to the main character. Kieran is of-course the most perfect man in the world who spoils Seryna a million. To be honest I don't really understand why he is so head over heels for Seryna, but I think this is because I am one of those few people that didn't like 50 shades of gray. It gives off these "millionaire falls for ordinary woman" vibes, like in Edward and Bella in twilight and Jamie in 50 shades. The purpose of the story seems like its for you to feel swept away by this romantic, sexy, perfect man, who trust me is everything you ever wish for. There is also a mystery plot underneath the romance, since he is an FBI agent investigating Seryna's family, however by half of the book I already knew who the criminal was and thought it was a bit obvious. This didn't make the story less interesting, since I wanted to know who else was involved and if Kieran, our perfect man, is as perfect as he seems.... The book reads quick, fast-paced and intriguing, since you want to discover more and more about Kieran as the story progresses. Overall I enjoyed the book, specially the sexy details which are very well written and very frequent on the book ;)
I received this book in exchange for an honest review - thank you to the author. I did read the whole book, but unfortunately this one just wasn’t for me. I saw someone else describe it as 50 shades-esq, so if you enjoyed that book, you may enjoy this one as well. (I haven’t read 50 shades, so there’s that). The sex scenes didn’t bother me so much - it was more the rest of the story was too cheesy for me.
For once I just don't want everyone to expect so much for me. What if I can't live up to this perfect girl they all think I am?
3.5 stars: If you're looking for a fast paced, steamy (like, really REALLY steamy) summer romance, look no further! I've been wanting to read more New Adult books lately, so Perfect "perfectly" fit the bill. While most of you know that insta-love is my biggest turnoff in a book (literally nothing makes me DNF a book faster), it actually didn't bother me in Perfect, which definitely surprised me. And I obviously enjoyed the book because once I started reading it, I had it finished within a few days.
Thanks so much to D.D. Larsen for sending me a copy of the book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Rounding up to 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book but found it a bit fast paced. The story line was easy to follow and overall kept my attention. I wanted to see how their story ended but it ends on a cliffhanger!
Seryna meets a mysterious man at a party one night he saves her. For months she wonders who this mysterious man is she can’t get him out of her head. Finally he reveals himself to her and she much choose between true love and a duty to her family.
You can feel the chemistry between the two main characters and you just know they are meant for one another. Being the first series in the novel the author left me want to continue the story of Seryna and Kieran.
Thank you to the author D.D. Larsen and BookSirens for my advanced copy in exchange in my honest review.
I was given the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.
I really really like the idea behind this story. 18 year old girl graduating from high school meets a mysterious handsome stranger at a party. He saves her and keeps showing up. Turns out he is an FBI agent investigating her family. It is unique and I have never read anything like it before. While there is an age gap it is nothing to crazy. The book could have used one more look over for edits as there were several mistakes but nothing that took away from the overall story. I liked the characters a lot. It did end on a cliff hanger and I am quite curious on what will happen next for for our hero and heroine.
I will say this book as a lot of steam and some kinky stuff so if that is a turnoff for you this may not be the book for you, I loved it though.
I found the book intriguing. With the personal insight to the thoughts of a young woman as she was discovering the beginning of her life journey. I found myself enthralled by the story. I read the book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! Excited to see where Seryna's path will lead her!
Someone get me a fan, this one is steamy! ⠀ ⠀ I enjoyed the storyline - a recent high school graduate falls for the FBI agent investigating her family for illegal moonshine distribution. As she becomes an informant she must choose between family and love of her life. ⠀ ⠀ I think Larsen penned a good first novel. I do wish the characters had a bit more depth to them. Particularly, the struggle of having to choose between family and true love. ⠀ ⠀ There are a lot of steamy scenes. If you’re a Fifty Shades of Grey fan, then you’ll enjoy this book.
"One moment you feel like you have the answers to everything. A perfect life. Knowing what you are doing, where you are going, and what the future holds. But then everything can change in the blink of an eye. You start questioning everything you have ever known."
The story revolves around Seryna who is 18 years old and is heading to college. She had worked very hard for what she wanted to achieved, then a mystery man came into her life and everything changed.
The storyline is okay, some part I liked and some other part I feel like the story dragging. I hoped the stories focused more on the investigation but that is not what happened. This book genre is erotica as well so beware of the super details story about that in here.
About the character, is a guy like Kieran exists in this world? 😅 A dream guy. No flaws at all. As for Seryna, I don't really fancy her. Sometimes I think she is too easy to trust people and just follow her heart. The character I like the most is Alex's character who is a good friend of Seryna.
In conclusion, I kind of like this book. The storyline is interesting though a bit dragging on some scenes, and as I mentioned above, I prefer to have more stories about the investigation.
I received this review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you BookSirens for this opportunity 😊
"Life and living is such a weird concept. One second everything is perfect; the next it’s like falling off an infinite cliff. Once we open our eyes, the new day may bring us whatever it wants. Sometimes happiness, other times sadness, and generally a mix of both with confusion as to why it’s all so complicated. The journey of life isn’t an easy one, but it’s the one we have. We must embrace it. Ride the rollercoaster. Focus on happiness, even when it’s shadowed by grief."
*This book was kindly gifted to me in exchange for an honest review.*
I recommend this book if you like: -mystery / undercover operation -love at first sight, (extra) steamy romance -New Adult (End of High School about to start College/Uni)
Seryna is a very focused girl; get the grades, move to College, reach her goals. It’s all she has ever known. Her lifestyle has, up to now, been lacking in fun and the typical teenage antics (parties, hanging out with friends and boys). We get to follow Seryna at the end of her Senior Year and she is beginning to let loose a little and enjoy the time she has left in her hometown.
Seryna first sees a mysterious man at one of the parties and from then on she is intrigued, hoping to see him again. Seryna has an instant connection with him which is reciprocated and soon enough they find their way to each other.
Kieran and Seryna’s path only meet due to him investigating her family as an undercover FBI agent. The secretive GAP alcohol operation was a good plotline and I had guessed who was behind it all (thanks to D.D. Larsen who left us clues along the way).
During this book a lot of bad things seem to happen which I found to be too much, too often and most times did not add to the storyline (e.g. breaking bones, hurting ankles).
The story develops really well at a quick pace (maybe because I read it within a few days). I grew to like the characters. The FBI undercover operation wraps up well with some drama and action. This book has a range of different scenes and I enjoyed the imagery it presented (especially the idyllic mountainous views from Kieran’s luxurious cabin).
Larsen’s gripping erotic suspense series blends an affecting coming of age tale with a twisty, heavy on foreshadowing plot that’s slick with scorching hot romance and teenage drama.
In the first book in the series, readers are introduced to Larsen’s young protagonist. Too busy to take time to enjoy life, high school senior Seryna is content being a fastidious student. But when the enigmatic Kieran, FBI Investigator, walks into her life, Seryna finds her perfectly planned life turns upside down. Family secrets unravel, and Saryna finds herself questioning those she loves.
Pulled into a romance that changed her life, Seryna is struggling to make the most out of her complicated situation in the second installment. But a new tragedy strikes and Seryna’s plans for the future are in jeopardy once again.
Larsen dexterously juggles a number of complex themes such as love, friendship, family ties, teenage pregnancy, rape, drugs, and violence and combines the pacing of a fast-paced thriller with writing that realizes both setting and character with a sure hand.
In Seryna, Larsen has created a protagonist who unconsciously blurs her sense of self as she falls in love, but comes out a survivor all the same. As the story continues and conflicts grow, Seryna also grows. Her sincere attempts to make the most out of her tragic situation creates genuinely touching moments. Kieran is a thoroughly endearing protagonist, enigmatic and a gentleman, and Larsen’s deft foreshadowing of his mysterious background will keep readers on their toes, never entirely sure of what he is up to next.
With its bracing pace, an array of interesting, deeply realized characters, and a tightly executed, suspenseful plot, the series makes for a page-turner.
D. D. Larsen’s ‘Perfect’ is a steamy, ‘love-at-first-sight’ romance with a mystery/suspense twist that checks all the boxes for a late-Summer ‘page-turner.'
When overachiever Seryna falls in love with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Mysterious—aka Kieran—after he inexplicably swoops in and saves the day at a rowdy high-school party, she literally can't get him out of her mind. Luckily for her, he continues to make surprise appearances, and eventually, they fall head over heels into a relationship. All is well until Seryna learns that the man of her dreams is actually an FBI agent investigating her family.
Bumpy start not-withstanding, not unlike an awkward blind date, ‘Perfect’ eventually hits its stride, dishing out loads of steamy, blush-inducing scenes while gently nudging along the narrative involving a mystery surrounding Seryna’s father. Despite only being eighteen, Seryna is a smart, resourceful protagonist that only occasionally flashes hints of irksome naivety.
While occasionally resorting to overly-descriptive exposition, for her part, author D. D. Larsen writes with a clear, articulate voice that adequately paints a picture. Her choice of a first-person POV lends ‘Perfect’ an air of intimacy that really underscores the novel’s more sensual moments. That all being said, ‘Perfect’ definitely lags under the strain of its narrative, slowing to a crawl around the halfway point. Still, while it’s a bit of a slog getting there, readers that push through will ultimately find a satisfying conclusion.
As numerous other reviewers have pointed out, there is a strong ‘Fifty Shades’ vibe permeating this story (especially the ‘clothes off’ moments), one that should easily please fans of the E. L. James series. It should also be noted that the twist at the end is very well done and easily sets up a sequel.
Steamy, blush-inducing romance with a hint of plot, ‘Perfect’ hardly reinvents the wheel, but is a worthwhile read for romance enthusiasts.
“My life was perfect. I had worked very hard for what I had achieved, then a mystery man came into my life and everything changed.”
It was her senior year, and Seryna goes to her first party, gets drunk, and almost gets raped. Then she’s saved by the mystery man. Who was he?
Her life was all planned—graduate, go to college, become a doctor—but her world suddenly filled with doubt and uncertainty ever since she saw the mystery man. With no luck in finding him or learning who he was, she wondered if she imagined him, if he was even real. For once, she was not looking forward to her future. “What if I can’t live up to this perfect girl they all think I am?” (LOC 290)
Then, one night, the mystery man finds her again and sparks a passionate encounter. “I should stay away from you, but I can’t.”
Book had an easy narrative and a story you just fall into. The mystery behind Kieran and why he kept showing up was alluring. Then her world is turned upside down when she realized that her father might be the leader of a dangerous narcotic that’s being passed around, putting people in danger; and Agent Kieran was hired to stop it.
There was a slight lag as she becomes smitten and infatuated in a fast, sexual romance with the daring and altruistic Kieran. Ever since the beginning, she just couldn’t take her mind off of him. Still, it doesn’t deter from working the case, whether her dad was innocent or not. Can they stop this before more people get hurt?
It’s an interesting spy thriller, even though tempered by the pensive eagerness of a young girl, which made it more worthy as a coming-of-age romance. But it’s a pretty good read once you get into it. The ending certainly is a bombshell that will undoubtedly continue in Book 2.
I am going to start this off by saying I think it is a HUGE accomplishment to write a book👏🏻 Authors put themselves out there for feedback knowing not everyone is going to love your work - that stresses me out just thinking about it. Perfect. by D.D. Larsen was not written for me. BUT, this book may be for you. Not all books I love you are going to enjoy and visa versa. I enjoyed the setting and imagery Larsen created in the book and felt like I was in Colorado(wish I was there enjoying the mountains now). I thought the plot was interesting and liked the mystery and detective aspects of the novel. The two main things that didn’t work for me are the insta-love relationship and all of the sex. I don’t love insta-love, but you may and love this book. Even after the relationship began I didn’t feel the emotional chemistry - it felt more physical and I just didn’t buy their love as a reader. I enjoy steam in a book, but it felt like there were too many sexual encounters and detracted from the plot. Again, that is something I do not enjoy, but if you love reading about sex and a lot of it then you may love this book🤷🏻♀️ . Thank you to the author, D.D. Larsen, for gifting me Perfect. in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to the author, D.D. Larson, for my copy of Perfect in exchange for an honest review.
Whoa! Major 50 Shades vibes! If you are into erotica and mystery with a twist then this book is for you. This is one steamy read!!
18 year old about to be college student, Seryna, falls in love with super rich FBI guy, Kieran, who also happens to be investigating her family for illegal activities. Their relationship develops super quick which at times made me feel like the story wasn’t believable. However the characters around her also felt the same so that made the story a little more credible to me.
The author did a great job of leaving me in suspense with such a juicy cliffhanger! I’m definitely looking forward to part two of this series. This is a nice light and quick read if you’re looking for a little escape from reality. I would rate it more of a 3.5. 😄👍🏼
I love a good book that keeps you there and will not let you put it down. D. D. Larsen did just that with this one. Once I started reading, I was hooked. Seryna was a character I was drawn to love. She wasn't just another high school girl, she was driven and had goals. However, love caught her attention and she had to decide whether to follow her heart or not. I couldn't help but feel for Seryna as she struggled between the love she saw growing with Kieran or the love she had always had for her family. I was drawn in as she struggled with following her heart and trusting that this new love she found was real; as following it was showing her a new side to the family she had always loved. You won't be able to put this one down!
Please tell me there is a book 2 on the way. I wasn't expecting a cliffhanger because it doesn't say part of a series, but now I'm on the edge of my seat to find out where we go from here. I loved the characters in this story. They got hot and heavy a lot, but there was actual emotion and heart behind each encounter. I was able to feel their love. I loved that even though Kieran knew something was up with her family, he didn't immediately think she had anything to do with it, and I love that even though Seryna knew he was investigating her family she didn't jump to the conclusion that he was using her, (at the beginning). They just loved each other fully. Looking forward to reading more! (There were a few grammatical errors that made me have to go back and read context clues.)
Imagine meeting the love of your life but he immediately tells you that your family is up to no good and doing very bad things. Do you betray your family and save people from the bad things your family is doing. Or do you say no to the love of your life and protect your family? This is the bind Seryna finds herself in. Seryna meets Kieran in aN unusual way. But their chemistry is hot, forgery and so swoon worthy. This book had it all, hot romance, steamy passion with a mixture of mystery thrown into it. D. D. Larsen, that ending!!! Please I need more right now!
I was confused the whole book. It seemed to move at a fast pace. She sees this guy, she in love and ready to get married. But he is after her family which he tells her. She seems like she dont care about any of that. Then the party near the end is a complete mess. I feel like there is some lying going on. I didnt care for the ending of the book either. There was no sustance to this book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
So I had the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. In my opinion, the romance in this book is great. Very steamy. However, I feel their relationship was mainly physical and wish there was a more emotional factor. As much as I love the love interest, Kieran, at times I found it somewhat creepy and stalkerish. I wish there were more character descriptions because I personally like to know about the character (especially side characters) looks. This book is very fast paced and at times I believed it was almost too fast. There were a couple editor errors but overall for being one of the authors first books, it was pretty decent.
A little more steam then I normal read. The book was good don't get me wrong. This book is more along the lines of 50 Shades of Grey, which I really couldn't finish as it was more steam and heat then I could read about..lol. Maybe I'll give that series another try. Anyways, this book is for those who like their romance with hot, heat, steam, and take your breath away!
If you like, classic romance this book is for you. This book will get you to believe in love at first site again. The chemistry between Seryna and Kieran is beyond perfect. You can feel the love they have for each other. The other story plot is so well written. I could picture everything. This book had me in tears, laughing, and smiling. I can't wait for the next one.
This is the first book I've read from D. D. Larsen and this book had me so immersed in the story I couldn't stop reading. This book had it all suspense, drama, intrigue and so intense I kept flipping page after page even after there was none left leaving me jaw-dropped by the ending! I need book 2 now and lucky for me I have it to start now!
This read is steamy, ‘love-at-first-sight’ romance with a mystery/suspense twist that checks all the boxes for a late-Summer ‘page-turner.' It’s so good, i can’t give you anything away, do yourself a favor and read this
This is a fun and interesting page turner. Easy read to just get lost in the story. The main character has a very relatable personality with a good internal monologue that captures the internal struggles she deals with throughout the book.
I was sent this book by the Author in exchange for an honest review. I’ve gone through lots of feelings about this book whilst I’ve been reading it. When I read the synopsis for this story it defiantly looked like my kind of book. However do not be fooled by its innocent appearance. The sex scenes are very... umm... descriptive. Not a lot if left unsaid! I personally found it a bit much and too often, but the characters seemed to be enjoying it so it’s not my place to complain 😂.
Initially I struggled a little to get started but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. For a first book, the plot and character development was really good, and I could only dream of finding my own Kieran!
I did find the books seemed to repeat itself and get stuck sometimes. It didn’t always flow and there were grammar errors but I am being super picky 😂.
Overall, it was a good first book and it’s going to be interesting to find out what happens in the second book.
Perfect was a great read! It has it all...romance, steamy scenes, mystery and suspense! The chemistry between Seryna and Kieran was impossible to miss!! It keeps you turning the pages and leaves you wanting more!!
Senior year is ending, and Seryna cannot wait to escape her small town and run away to college. She is the perfect student with perfect grades. When she finally starts having a bit of fun, she meets the mysterious Keiran. He's something she never even knew she wanted. The two are star-crossed, but complications arise when her father is implicated in an FBI investigation. An investigation that Keiran is heavily involved in.
Perfect is a whirlwind romance with a slice of mystery. The book is a good and easy read. The characters are written well, and the flow of the book has an everyday vibe that makes it feel realistic. The story has a nice coming of age quality that gave some depth to the protagonist and showed development in the story. I did, however, think that the interactions between Seryna and Keiran became somewhat repetitive. This made the read a little drawn out. But, I liked the detective aspect of the story. It helped the plot and kept the book interesting. The 'who did it' mystery did become quite obvious partway through the book. But I appreciate that the story is from a distracted teenager's perspective, which was conveyed nicely.
There were a couple of writing errors throughout the book, but the flow of the book was good and, the plot was well-paced. The ending of the book is very sudden and abrupt but makes a great cliffhanger. Overall, the book was a good read, but I thought some parts could have been fine-tuned.
