Identical twin brothers attracted to one girl. What could go wrong?
I have a crush on Brennan Lopez. The only problem is I keep getting him mixed up with his identical twin brother. Not to mention, the most powerful girl in my high school is out to get me. Why? Let’s just say we haven’t ever been besties. And we both like the same guy. But I’m not going to let her get to me. I’m going to get Brennan Lopez’s attention if it’s the last thing I do. Even if it means talking to his identical twin brother until he notices me.
If you like sweet and wholesome romance, then look no further!
I don’t know this book kind of confused me because for one. The way it started off was weird because it slap right into Katy liking the brothers and they both fighting for her attention. I kept thinking like huh? Huh? In between reading each chapter. Because the way this book was written was sort of weird to me.
Even though it was written weird. I still thought the book was interesting to read. Though Katy was a stalker and had serious obsession with Brennan. That it became annoying. It got on my nerves. How the way she was acting plus all that unnecessary crying and what not.
I was like gahh. Girl get over yourself, plus Shannon was annoying too. Because she kept bullying Katy. Which made her cry but often times Katy didn’t care what Shannon said. Though she still cried and talked about Brennan in a obsession way.
Like she couldn’t get over Brennan dissing her when he saw her kissing his twin brother Brett. She went and stalk in the night. 😂 while people was sleeping. She wanted him so bad she literally stopped at anything the way it seemed. Brennan didn’t seem stalkerish. But his twin brother Brett.
No lie I did want to slap him though because I felt like he was sort of mean to Katy for no reason he’ll ask her out places and once Shannon bully or do something to her he’ll laugh. But gets mad when Brennan came to the rescue. I was at the actual end of the book he got over it when it came to both Katy and Brennan.
Move on the Haley I assume. I’ll like to see what happens there. It did mentioned that Brett would be mentioned in the next book. I’ll see how the next book goes. Because Katy was mad annoying and the the way this book was written was dumb.
Christina Herrera does an amazing job of pulling your heartstrings, making you laugh, and bringing you back to the best (and most dramatic) parts of high school. In Kissing The Wrong Twin it tells of Katy's adventures of falling for a popular nice boy Brennan but she keeps mistaking his twin (seemingly cocky Brett) for him, which leads to some hilarious drama. When the Ice Queen Shannon also seems to be interested in Brennan, she tries to go after Katy. But with true friendships from Evelyn, and determination, she can get through anything.
This story had me laughing, smiling, and tearing up a few times. I had a tough time putting it down. In junior high, my best friend and I had crushes on twins so it was so funny to read this story and think back to those days and how sometimes we got the twins mixed up. I also loved how the story brings so many different elements that make it unique (different family dynamics, careers, money, popularity, etc). I highly reccomend reading this book, and any book written by Christina Herrera.
A scholarship makes you do everything an evil girl wants???? I could see some sort of blackmail or something but that was the dumbest ending to a pretty idiotic story. Who likes again for that long and can't tell the difference? Wow. Just wow. I can't decide how dumb it was. I almost stopped reading a few times but I thought surely it will get better or Shannon had some real dirt on Brennan and that's why he did what she wanted. And why would the boys share a room if their house was so big and they had so much money? And why was Shannon's dad going to give him a scholarship anyway? Football? The goodness of his heart? So many more unanswered questions at the end.
This is a tricky one to review. I know the author, and totally adore her. She has a fantastic imagination, and a love of storytelling! However, this type of story is just not my thing. There were some plot issues, and some characters issues, but a pretty quick and cute read overall.
I really wanted to like this book more than I did. The premise was cute enough, and I liked the characters too. But Katy’s attitude and talk towards twins Brennan and Brett got to be really annoying. She was always mixing them up, but would brush it off with a ‘well you guys are clones’ or “close enough” I get that identical twins can be very hard to differentiate at times, but at least show them some respect and don’t lump them together constantly. Especially if you’re interested in one of them! I’m honestly surprised that either one of them still liked her after all of that.
This story was a lot of fun to read. The characters had so many different layers. The story was wonderful. I didn't expect most of the twists and turns. The story and characters were amazing but I feel like the putting together slash execution could have been a bit better. Saying that, overall, this story is one worth reading.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Maybe I would’ve enjoyed this more if I was 20 years younger. But alas, as a 35-year-old woman, this book was painful to read. I’m pretty sure I lost a few brain cells, and now I can’t even write a decent review. My advice, skip this one if you are more than a day over 16.
I give this book 3.5 stars. It is such a lovely story and I like the characters, but some things were still missing for me, went a bit too fast or confused me with their sudden changes.
First of all the title had me constantly thinking of a bit of another plot line so I was surprised when it turned out way different than I thought. Also the characters came across a real people and weren't too polished off which I liked a lot, even though some characters had their off moments from time to time. But in the end that's just how life also throws it at you way. ;)
Another part that also got me hooked was the confusion with the twins. In the beginning it seemed like they've been constantly switching places and at some points I really wasn't sure for which twin I was voting right now. They both had their special moments with the main character Katy and both relationships were sparked by such different chemistry that I really couldn't decide which way I should turn. :D
I was a bit confused by the behavior of the twins sister and some other secondary character. It seemed like she was switching her opinion and behavior on certain things by every other chapter. I also think that the 2nd part of the book was a bit off when it came to details being revealed about various character that suddenly appeared out of the blue. I wish that those would have been included in the first part as well to round up the story a bit more. But as this book is the first in a standalone series I'm hoping that some secondary characters will get these things figured out when it is their time to become a main character. Looking forward to the next books/ cute stories. :)
So based on the title I thought the book would end different then it did. I kind of liked that the book kept me guessing to the ending of the book. Which twin would Katy end up with, or would she end up alone? Okay, I didn’t really believe she would end up alone. I did wonder what was going on with Shannon. Brennon had some sort of bargain going with Shannon. Something that allowed Shannon to keep control over him. So I had to ask myself. Was Brennon for real or was he playing with Katy’s emotions. And should we feel bad for Brett. He seemed really sweet sometimes and other times he seemed selfish and arrogant. He was competitive and jealous. Left me wondering what Brett or Brennon would do just for competition. Then there was Katy. She was a hard working sweet girl. She didn’t let Shannon walk all over her but at the same time she seemed a bit petty when she was standing up for herself. Like she could be a mean girl if given a chance. And what was the deal that she couldn’t tell the twins apart. If she was crushing on Brennon for two years certainly she wouldn’t get them so confused all the time. Yes, I can see how she would kiss the wrong twin in the dark. But in the light of day do the twins dress identical all the time. If not she should be able to tell them apart just on outfits alone after seeing them throughout the day. 🤔 lots to consider. Over all this was a clean, sweet read that was able to complete in a day of leisurely reading.
I started reading this book and couldn't get into it at first, I put it down for a day and then picked it back up to give it another go. I'm glad I did!
I felt that the main character was shallow and flighty although that was ascribed to another character in the book. I got so annoyed with the main character because she seemed to not care about anyone else's feelings and would trifle with someone else's emotions.
However, there was some maturity that was needed and I am glad that in the end, the character finally did mature to the point that I was satisfied with the ending.
I like to read about the author at the end and it all made complete sense. She was only 19 when she initially wrote this book, so now I understood the angst and immaturity of the character, after all, we were all at that point in our past!
This was a cute read. Gives on mean girl vibes but with twins. Katy has been crushing on Brennan for 2 years. She’s still kinda of new to the academy. Brennan has a twin brother named Brett. Katy sometimes gets them confused. She has to navigate going to high school and trying to get Brennan to notice and fall for her. She also has to watch out for Shannon who wants to also sink her claws into Brennan. Will Katy get the guy or will Shannon? Will she have to settle for Brett the other twin? Read the book to find out. Love this story also because it has twins in it and I’m a twin. Love all things twin related. Love to see if their relationship is like mine with my twin sister. Brennan and Brett are similar to us. This relationship anyway. But also have some differences.
This is a clean teen romance. If you enjoy the genre you will love it! As a 37 yr old happily married woman I found myself a little irritated at times with the immaturity of the characters BUT I would remind myself that it is a TEEN romance! I would have loved this as a teen or even maybe college age 😊. I would definitely read more from the author. I did feel like there was a book before this - a prequel - or this was number 2 in a series but from my knowledge it was stand alone. It was a super fast read and I can’t lie, I did enjoy it 😊
Hi everyone! I am the author of Kissing the Wrong Twin. I wrote this book when I was 20 years old and I was newly married to my husband who is an identical twin. I hope that you will enjoy reading my book. I take time to read each and every review, whether it be good or bad, it means that someone took the time to read my work. That means everything to me. Thank you all for letting my words entertain you!
Fun and flirty times ahead:) High School drama at it's finest. Lots of mean girls plus your average nice students. With identical twin boys who are at the competitive top and mean girls blocking every turn, how's a girl to get a Prom date? Come along this fun ride:) Happy Reading!
The issues surrounding identical twins are fascinating but even my own teenage identical twin grandsons, who do share a bedroom like Brett and Brennan, would struggle to identify with this all-American high school story. Despite my original interest in its premise and promise, I had to force myself to finish it.
Unfortunately, I had to DNF. The writing just was not for me. It needed way too much honing to help draw me in. I know it's YA but it was more juvenile than I had anticipated. I had no connection to the characters mostly because I didn't understand their relationships (they were. not fleshed out at all).
The author does an amazing job and it is definitely a well written story. I enjoyed reading about the characters and the circumstances they find themselves in. It takes place in a fictional town in California at a small private school.
It's a sweet YA romance. I enjoyed the whole 'wrong twin' drama. Other than that, it's your usual teenage novel. It's lighthearted, easy to read, and has interesting characters. I enjoyed reading it a lot.
This is a YA coming of age book, Katy has had a crush on Brennan for a while, but his twin, Brett, keeps trying to insert himself into her life, they are wealthy and she isn't. Throw in a mean girl and you have a good story.
I enjoyed this quick fun back to High school drama book. I liked the story and characters were similar to my high school experience. More fun to read it than live it! Funny situations along with heartbreak! Great ending to a great book!
Listened to this and it was a fun high school romance. I have identical twin sisters and it was so fun so here how people got them mixed up. Fun to listen about Katy’s dramatic story of identical twins both liking her as well as another girl liking her dream guy.
I give this a 4.5, the story was cute and clean. I was totally expecting there to be some other twist in the story, however it was still a good story and I liked the twins.
