Sophia thought she’d be fighting the fae army, not her attraction to four handsome rebels…
Orphaned at twelve, half-blood Sophia, part witch, part water dragon, spent most of her life as a member of the secretive dragon rebel army, trying to protect kids like her. But now the war against the fae is won, the new kings have chosen her to rebuild the war-torn dragon lands. First problem? She has no experience leading anyone. Second problem? The area is dangerous, filled with renegade fae soldiers, still loyal to the old fae king. Third problem? Or should that be her first problem? The team assigned to help her might be more of a distraction than an asset.
One spoiled fire dragon who won’t take orders from anyone. One broody air element witch carrying a lot of pain from his past. One soft-spoken werewolf with hidden strength. And one mysterious fae… Four very hot sources of trouble.
Can she save her people, rebuild what was lost, and protect her heart all at the same time?
This is the first novella in the Guarding Their Dragon Mate serial, a reverse harem #WhyChoose story. This novella may include any of these elements: steamy scenes, ‘I need tissues NOW’ moments, cries of ‘why, oh, why’ and cliffhangers that make you bite your nails (and curse the author).
Layla Heart loves sexy romances and has a particular soft spot for broken boys and their damaged girls. When she’s not reading or writing steamy stories, she loves to nap with her two cats, preferably under a fluffy blanket, and play videogames. She has studied literature and creative writing but often finds that the couple of classes she took on coding are much more of a help in this new adventure as an author.
There's not much here to review but I'll try anyway. This starts like a continuation of a previous series. I felt lost. Names were dropped and it seemed like a whole world had been developed already but I had no idea what was going on. Turns out there is a series that came before this and the author just dove into the already established world without explaining anything. This was really short and abrupt. I didn't have time to connect with any of the characters. As far as the plot goes, all I know is there was a war and now this group of people have to go rebuild. It's implied many times that this is a dangerous mission but I have no idea why. I don't think I'll read any more in the series.
ehh, this was fine, and there was no romance in this part just a tiny bit of flirting. while I might continue with the series, I'm in no rush to do so.
Sophia is still dealing with the aftermath of the war. She just wants to help the dragon's get back on their feet. She finds out that she is in charge of a group of people going the dragon's land. The area they are going to is dangerous, she is given a team. Sophia receives a report of the area, it hits her hard. She needs to get away and digest the news. She will also have to meet with her new team, which Topaz is on. She meets a werewolf that throws her for a loop. She finds out he is on her team. She has already met another team member. She still has to meet the fae that is supposed to be on her team, she doesn't trust the fae. Sophia is drawn to the new members as she is with Topaz. Sophia keeps her attraction to Topaz hidden. The day the are to leave, the Queen and Kings introduce her to her finally member. She knows this is going to hard for them all to work with him. Sophia introduces the newest member, it doesn't go over well. Sophia and everyone finally get on the road for the dragon land. Things hit a few hiccups, when something weird happens. Weird magic is in the air, they don't know what is behind it, other that it is an attack.
There are several things I didn't put in review, recommend reading it, it does end in a cliff hanger. This was a good start to Sophia's story, you will enjoy reading her story.

Sophia is a half-blood -- part witch and part water dragon, who has been a member of the dragon rebel army for some time now. With the war against the Fae over now, the new kings chose Sophia to lead the rebuilding of their war-torn dragon lands. But her assigned team may prove to be more distraction than help! The members are composed of a spoiled fire dragon who won’t take orders from anyone, a broody air element witch carrying a lot of pain from his past, a soft-spoken werewolf with hidden strength, and a mysterious Fae. Can they work together and rebuild?
This is a very hopeful book with the story line focused on rebuilding a new environment for the people who have just come out of a Fae war. The characters are really terrific! The variety of supernaturals makes it a fun cast of characters with lots of possibilities as the series goes on. Grab this first book and enjoy!
This is the first book in a new series. This series takes up where the Lughnasadh Elite Academy series left off, only with new central characters. You still see some of the characters from the other series in this book, but it revolves around a whole new set of main characters. This book is the beginning of renewal and repair for the realms, hopefully the reunification of them as well. I enjoyed the book. The characters were well written and likable. If you liked the Lughnasadh Elite Academy series by this author, then you will enjoy this series as well. I recommend it.

This story is the beginning of a new series so it starts slow. Lots of world building and character development. It’s not until the last 20% that the action picks up. This seems to be a spin off of another series or standalone because there are a lot of references to characters and events that seem vital but are referred to only in passing. This book ends in the middle of a battle which is a cliffhanger of the worst kind. Luckily the next book is ready to go. Interesting enough to keep going for another book to see where this goes.
This book is a spin off or follow up from the Lughnasadh Elite Academy series. Here, Sophie is the main character and she is tasked by the new government (kings and queens) to rebuild the dragon lands. She is happy to oblige, but the team of 4 given to her to support her. needs to build trust first and all 4 are interested in Sophia. The story starts slow, but builds up steadily and is an engaging read, with interesting characters. I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next book. Cursed Dragon (Guarding Their Dragon Mate 1) by Layla Heart is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number one an awesome start to a brand new series and I can not wait to read the next book in this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about witches, dragon shifters, LGBT and paranormal romances.

I have not read a bad book from this author yet and this book is no exception! The great plot and character development kept me so engaged throughout the entire book that I had a very hard time putting this book down until the very last page was turned! "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Page 71 (75%): DNF. I just didn't jive with this book. The writing style is more tell than show. The characters have traumatic life experiences, but most of their thoughts feel whiney and childish. The main problem for me was the repetition. A lot of the time, thoughts or feelings were brought up multiple times (albeit in different words) within the same few paragraphs.
I really liked this first book! The world seems amazing, the characters are awesome and the storyline sucked me in and kept me interested through the whole book! I can't wait for the next book to come out and see what happens!!!

Well this is the story of Sophia. She is intend on helping dragons. She is part witch part dragon and is getting a team of helpers. She finds herself attracted to them. Trying to keep this a secret is hard. Will she get to her goal? Can the guys help or are there other things at play here?
This is a a fantastic start to a new series that is a spin off of the Lughnasadh Elite Academy series. I really like the diversity of the characters as each member to the RH is distinct. This is a well written story with vivid descriptions. I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.
This is my first read by this author! And I really enjoyed it! Anything with Dragons is my thing! I am loving this new world and characters and I can’t wait to see where this story goes from here.
I received an ARC of this book and didn’t know it was a spin off series. Otherwise I like the book and the world she created and plan to go back and read the books before this series.
