From the bestselling author of Teacher Misery, comes a collection of outrageous stories from other teachers. In this book you’ll find a bit of everything including the usual helicopter parents and awful administration, horrendous student behavior with no consequences, and crazy-ass parents and their insane requests. But you’ll also find weirdly entertaining stories about a little kid with a foot fetish, a group of teachers chasing a naked kid around the school parking lot, and two pregnant sisters fighting over the same baby daddy on the first day of school. There’s plenty of gross stuff, like all the strange places kids put their poop and dirty maxi pads, a Barbie in a butthole, and kids who masturbate in class and hump desks. Unlike her other books, Morris included a sprinkling of tales that will break your heart and a few that will give you the warm and fuzzies we all need to keep going. This book is hilarious, shocking, heartwarming, sad, gross, and sometimes inspiring because that is what teaching is really like.
Jane Morris' newest collection of teacher travails from across the country truly does what nothing else can right now- it gets us. I've been teaching for 15 years and have seen everything, or so I thought until I read yet another collection of strange but true tales from American public education. Whether its students and their weird habits and behaviors, or parents and their constantly wavering interest or lack thereof in their child's behavior or work, or administrators who have somehow failed up, Morris paints a picture that is all to real for teachers around this country. This is yet another fantastic book in the Teacher Misery series, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any teacher who has been in the trenches. This book once again reminded me that I'm not alone and that we are all in this together.

This is a collection of stories from educators around the nation. Some of the stories are hilarious while others are sad. Each story is short and the topics vary, but they are all things that have happened to the sharer. There are also text messages and emails that were shared. Each entry is titled and can be found in the table of contents. I shared many of the stories with my husband and then my children. We laughed and shook our heads. There is adult language throughout the book that I felt wasn't needed (this is part of the persons telling their story). Otherwise, the book showcases some crazy experiences that I do believe are true. This would be a cool gift for an educator.

If you are a teacher, you understand that these are all true and possible stories. If you are not a teacher, I recommend that you read this book! Jane Morris did a wonderful job of showing the good, the bad, and the ugly with humor sprinkled throughout. I hope that unfiltered stories like this shed light on the support that our teachers and students need and deserve.

This book has it all, the ups and the downs. It’s a very realistic summary of teacher life nowadays. You have to be a bit insane to able to work as a teacher, but on the other hand it’s the most important thing a sane adult can do. The paradox is clear, but every teacher knows how it is.

Loved the parts about distance learning. So relatable and relevant! Hilarious book and a must read for any teacher or person who knows / cares about a teacher.
