It is excellent for introducing Catholics to the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary through the insights of Pope Saint John Paul II. It is a good compilation of relevant homilies pertaining to the holy mysteries of the Rosary.
The arrangement of the set of mysteries is new to me i.e.Glorious,Joyful, Sorrowful, and Luminous, instead of the chronological Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious. Nevertheless, it is beautiful and unique that it shows that we Catholics are Easter and Joyful people of God. The only thing bothering me is that the book does not altogether arrange with all the positive mysteries first, then the Sorrowful mysteries.
Saint John Paul II's reflections on the mysteries of the Rosary are in line with Catholic tradition. It is in accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the teachings of the saints in particular those who love the Rosary.
This book has relatively short homilies, that can be read from time to time according to one's needs or preferences. It is a book worthy of re-reading, but not for mere memorization of particulars. Instead, this is a good starting point for our imagination to work through in meditation to know and understand God more, and consequently, to love God more through our Blessed Mother and her memory which is the mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
A lot more informative, rich and deeply inspiring. This book offered both a real encounter with the thought of Pope John Paul II and informative glimpses into the theology behind the mysteries. Also was very prayerful and spiritual and a great way to pray the rosary with Saint John paul II as the title says. Very pleased with this, I got a lot out of it and feel I can use it over again.
The words of pope saint John Paul II are as beautiful as the saint that he was and is. One can feel the warmth And lovingness of his personality exude from the pages as you read from one chapter to the next and what is abundantly clear is his devotion to our Blessed Virgin Mary. He imbues meaning into the praying of the rosary that make its recitation much more meaningful.
This book is a wonderful supplement to the rosary. For each mystery there is a reading from St. John Paul II. A nice tool for adding depth to prayers of the rosary.
I'm the editor, so, of course, I'm a big fan! St. John Paul II spoke so often in his homilies and encyclicals about the Rosary and the mysteries of the Rosary. This book organizes those writings so to aid your contemplation in praying the Rosary. St. John Paul II, pray for us!
