A maniac has bombed the airport and warns he’ll visit even more destruction on this Southern metropolis of nearly two million souls.
But the butcher bizarrely makes no demands, threatens no ransom, and meticulously conceals his identity behind a series of online personas and remote hideouts.
The police have no idea who he is, what he wants, or how to stop him. And as the bombings continue, the city panics.
But the killer will talk to the police through an intermediary. One person in particular who’s caught his eye: Melinda Frazier, a twenty-two-year-old clerk who works for the sheriff one county over. Melinda, who hopes to wear the badge herself one day, has no idea why this mass murderer has targeted her, but along with the rest of the city she hopes and prays both his endless harassment and bloody rampage will stop.
Detective Jaxon Jennings is hell bent and determined to stop the bloodshed himself if he has to. As the killer grows more brazen, openly taunting the authorities, Jaxon and his partner, Ray Maningham, race alongside the FBI, the ATF, and anyone else with a badge and a gun to protect Melinda, crack the madman’s identity, and prevent any more carnage.
The psychopath warns that time is running out, however, and Jaxon and his colleagues worry his spree of violence will crescendo in a slaughter that could make 9/11 look like a dress rehearsal.
Richard C Hale has worn many hats in his lifetime including Greens Keeper, Bartender, Musician, Respiratory Therapist, and Veteran Air Traffic Controller. You can usually find him controlling Air Traffic over the skies of the Southeastern U.S. where he lives with his wife and children.
This is another great book in the series. Some new characters are introduced and I enjoyed them and look forward to where the author takes this series in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and definitely recommend it to anybody who enjoys this thrillers. Note: you should probably start at the beginning of the series for continuity.
This is another superb story in thr Jaxon Jennings series of books. We are not eased into the action, it just blasts off from the first page and carries on a triffic pace till the end.
I enjoy all of the Jaxon Jennings books. Richard Hale did not disappoint in this installment. I lived in Ocala, Florida and these books travel throughout central Florida describing the towns and countryside Great characters and exciting twists.
Well this had me hooked on the edge of my seat from the very first chapter! It had so much action in this one book it felt like I was in a film reading it. This book would make an amazing film to be honest! Someone is killing people with bombs (and other creative ways) and jaxon and his friends all have to figure out and catch the killer, before he kills more innocent people with the next shocking idea. This is definitely a page turner. There are some new characters which fit in so nicely with the already existing characters. You actually care about all of them, old or new. If you are wanting an action packed book that will keep you hooked throughout, then I would recommend giving this book a try. I was sent an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I loved it! An edge of your seat thriller that had you hooked from the very first page. A killer is out for revenge and his terrorist-like attacks have various law enforcement officials racing against time to stop him. This was definitely one of the best books I've read this year. Detectives Jaxon Jennings and his partner, Ray Manningham are back but we're also introduced to a clerk, Mel, who has her heart set on becoming an officer. When a killer uses her in his sick quest for revenge, Mel is thrust into the middle of the action whether she likes it or not.
If you like a fast paced story with lots of thrills and chills then this one is for you. Highly recommend.
Jaxon Jennings and crew are back with a new character in their latest case that involves a terrorist seeking revenge. Viral has a decidedly dark tone to it and will hook you from the first paragraph and refuse to relinquish control until the final words are read. Mr. Hale has done an excellent job of bringing in more characters and their human traits in these latest Jaxon Jennings stories, along with grittier bad guys. This is a series to read if you enjoy action filled police thrillers. I received and Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.
Started out with promise...a truly diabolical bad guy who likes blowing up things, preferably with lots of people around. But then the plot begins to devolve into more of a romance novel than anything else. Everyone's always "grinning" (I'll bet he used that word, in one form or another, 100 times) and/or flirting. Sexual tension is constant. Hey, I enjoy sex as much as the next person, but that's not what I bought the book for. It got to the point that, nearing the end, I pretty much didn't care about any of the characters anymore...I just wanted the story to end. Very disappointed.
