The Wedding Date Disaster

Rate this book
I can’t believe I have to go home to Nebraska for my sister’s wedding. I’m gonna need a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. At least my bestie agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight than me. Then, his plane got delayed. And finally—because bad things always happen in threes—instead of my best friend, his evil twin walks out of the airport.

If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Grady Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst—even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans. Ten times worse? I told my family I was bringing my boyfriend with me...

Now I have to spend the week pretending to be madly in love with the big jerk. Ugh, and share a bedroom. It’s only gonna be a week. I can last that long without killing him or blowing my cover. Maybe. A whisper of a prayer. Oh God, this week just might kill me or I might kill him—either way, this is not going to end well.

For some reason I thought this book was going to be howlingly funny. It wasn't. I only felt mildly amused when the old ladies were drinking vodka mixed with Ensure cocktails. I really liked those old ladies. They knew how to party.

On the whole this book is just blah. Everything you'd expect. It was supposed to be enemies-to-friends, but they never really had that fun enemy rivalry at all. Within the first pages they kissed each other, so we didn't get a fun build-up either.

Nothing is better if it's too soon. The word "premature" comes to mind.

There was so much potential. They go to her family's ranch for a wedding and he poses as her boyfriend and there were hijinx. Her family was great, there was a crazy grandpa, and even the unexpected ex-boyfriend showing up (why, I don't know because he said hello and then seemed to just mysterious vanish. Why was he even there?). But, the interactions weren't funny enough. It tried. I give the book credit for trying, but it felt flat to me.

The Wedding Date Disaster by AveryFylnn

Contemporary romantic comedy. Enemies to lovers. Stand-alone.

Hadley and Will couldn’t stand each other. Right? Maybe? Will is sure she’s a gold digger trying to get money from his twin brother Web. Hadley doesn’t understand what she did to set Will against her but she’ll just stay out of his way. But fate and Web have other plans.

A fantastic and sexy hot romance. Fun and sizzling, engaging and satisfying.
Life isn’t perfect, but this romance comes pretty close.
All the feels from the heroine and hero at odds, working things out, to flames running hot.
The family dynamics add to the emotional fulfillment.

Excerpt:
“Adalyn hopped up from her bed at the same time that Hadley bounded up from the chair, and they met in the middle of the room and hugged in one of those mind-meld events that only sisters could have when you said about a million things without uttering a single word.”
Excerpt from The Wedding Date Disaster.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

Re-read November 2023 | 3,5 stars

First read August 2020
4,5 stars for this absolutely hilarious, sexy and swoon worthy haters to lovers romance that I loved so incredibly much.

Avery Flynn's books have been on my radar for quite a while, but I just never got around to actually read a book by her (up until now). So when I was offered the opportunity to review an e-arc of this upcoming release, I couldn't resist, because the synopsis looked so good. And after having now finished it, I can only confirm that it met with my expectations and that I'm so incredibly happy for having had the chance to read an arc of this one.

He raised an eyebrow in question, his fingers hovering over the edges of her open dress. One shake of her head and she knew he'd walk away. Both of them would act as if this moment had never happened- as much as that would be possibled. It's what she should do, because whatever was going on, she knew Will Holt wasn't for her. They weren't potential lovers. They weren't friends. They barely tolerated each other. Yet here she was, practically burning with want and nodding her consent.

This was such a addictive read right from the start. The main characters are fantastic and everything you wish for to get in a haters to lovers romcom - the banter between them is just the best and their developing romance is endearing and suuuper sexy. They both dish snark back and forth and give as good as they get and I couldn't get enough of it; Loved it so so much! I was constantly thinking 'I should quote this and THIS. O and this!!!' but in that case I'd be quoting most of the book haha. Every page was just so fantastic and I couldn't get enough of it. The romance is intense, addictive and well devleoped. It's deliciously intense because the chemistry between Will and Hadley is just so frigging palpable - this is the kind of 'push and pull' you're looking for in a haters to lovers romance. The way these two dance around eachother, giving each other snarky comments and then start to hate f*ck... then discovering they have FEELINGS and trying to cope with all that. This all was executed perfectly.

Hadley let out a soft moan of encouragement, rubbing against him as she forced her hands between them and reached for the top button of his jeans. A better man would remember why she was awful. Why she couldn't be trusted. Why this was wrong. But he wasn't a better man. Will was drowning in Hadley and he couldn't think of a better way to go.

Next to having two fun main characters, I was really liking the supportive minor characters as well.. They made the entire cast in this book 'complete' and now that I finished reading the book, I need at leaaaast 2 more books set in this fictional world, with these characters. The dialogues between these friends and family members was just so much fun and made me LOL multiple times.

This book isn't 100% perfectly executed in detail maybe, there were some reaaally minor thoughts passing my mind a couple of times in which I thought 'ok, maybe this could've been a little bit differently' but they're negligible when looking at the bigger picture, which is why in the end I go with a 5 star rating on GR. This is a book I'll be re-reading all over again on numerous times in the future, for sure. And that kind of book, when given a 4,5 star rating, will get a 5 star rating on the platform I'm rating it where there aren't any half stars available. This book is definitely worth it to up it to 5 stars instead of 4, so here I go haha.

Truly: Flynn's writing was nothing short of hilarious and addictive. Her way of describing situations and thoughts and just everything really was utterly fantastic. I cannot wait to get my hands on more books by her, hopefully Very soon! In the meantime, to conclude this review I'll just say this:

I HIGHLY recommend this book if you're looking for your next haters-to-lovers Romcom addiction. The Wedding Date Disaster is everything you're looking for and more and is THE book you want to pick up next. You won't be disappointed and you'll be thanking me for it - I know that sounds a bit arrogant, but trust me. This is a Romcom you.do.not.want.to.miss.out.on.

There weren't any words, but they didn't need any. She met him halfway on each advance. "Say my name." The demand came out rought and hard. It wasn't fair to ask things of her when she was on the edge of her climax, but he needed her to say it. He needed to know... "Say it."
"Will," she said, half begging and half demanding more. That was all he needed to hear. He'd give it to her- everything she wanted in this moment, it was hers.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for me sharing my thoughts on the book. My opinions on this book are entirely my own and not influenced in any way

Hadley Donavan’s life isn’t the rosy world she’s been describing to her family, it’s more cramped apartment, low level job, and singlehood. Not willing to give up the charade she has her best friend along for the ride, masked as her boyfriend for the big family wedding back home. Only problem? His evil twin who is convinced she’s money hungry showed up and seems set on making her suffer. Despite how he drives her crazy, something about him keeps tugging at her.

Time flew by as I enjoyed Avery Flynn’s latest romantic comedy. The Wedding Date Disaster is silly and heartwarming, it was a perfect light read for me that made me forget it all for a little while. Hadley and Will are really the perfect match, their bickering even was a form of flirting. I laughed so much, their antics to get back at one another truly revealed their feelings. I also loved that we got an honest portrayal of family, careers, and how much effort it takes to win someone over that you care for.

The Wedding Date Disaster was an instant win for me, it’s another successful laughter inducing read from the queen of romcom.

Arc provided.

DNF @ 15% and this part:

“I knew a woman once who would turn tomato red when she came. No matter the position, or the activity. We tested it out one long weekend. We started it out with…” and then the heroine cuts him off and tells him that she doesn’t want to think of him having sex with OW.

And ya know what? I don’t either.

The hero is an asshat who thinks the worst of the heroine for no reason, besides that another woman hurt him in the past.

Maybe if the heroine had a backbone and actually put him in his place, but she has betraying body syndrome and basically melts into his arms at every turn.

The Wedding Date Disaster is a funny and sexy enemies to lovers and fake relationship romantic comedy. Such a great combination of tropes! Hadley Donovan and Will Holt hate each other. But they're always around each other because Hadley is best friends with Will's twin brother. When Hadley has to go back home to the countryside for her sister's wedding, she asks Will's brother to accompany her as her fake boyfriend. So imagine her surprise when Will Holt shows up at the airport instead of his twin.

Will doesn't trust Hadley because he thinks she's a gold digger out to trap his brother, while Hadley can't stand Will's bad attitude. But now they're forced to spend time together as a couple. The forced proximity is equally delicious and hilarious. Will and Hadley have such sexy chemistry together and I really enjoyed their bickering and seeing Will adapt to the countryside.

I think the transition from enemies to lovers was well executed. I adored Hadley's family and the role they played in Hadley and Will's relationship. Her family brought so much lightheartedness to this romantic comedy. The reason why I'm giving it an average rating is because I got really tired of Will and his stupid assumption about Hadley's motives and goals. He is kind of an asshole. Not the biggest asshole ever, but still an asshole. His assumption about Hadley is so far fetched that it is ridiculous. And his groveling wasn't enough for me. But the epilogue was super cute and memorable.

Overall, The Wedding Date Disaster is a fun and quick read. If you like the movie The Proposal, then you'll enjoy reading this book.

The Wedding Date Disaster is a fun, hate-to-love romantic comedy that would make a great movie. Hadley Donovan has recruited her super-rich BFF to be her fake date to her sisters wedding, hoping to head off invasive family members. But when she gets to the airport she instead finds his evil twin brother Will.

Will is convinced Hadley is a gold-digger trying to entrap his brother and determined to stop her. Clearly the feelings he has are anger and hatred, not attraction...This was entertaining, heartwarming, and pretty steamy, if a bit melodramatic at times. (You always KNOW something is going to go wrong near the end before they finally end up together) Will makes a lot of assumptions and is very judgmental, but there are also reasons for it beyond him just being a jerk. Overall I had a good time with this! I received a copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.

This was a hilarious and sexy enemies to lovers romance that was so much fun to read!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

✦Enemies to lovers/ fake relationship trope.
✦Small Town girl trying to make it in the big city.
✦Hero with a past that is unable to open his heart to love.
✦Heroine goes home for her sister's wedding and is trying to keep up the pretense of having the perfect life in the city which includes having an amazing boyfriend.

WHAT I LOVED:

✦Fantastic banter and chemistry!
✦Hero's healthy obsession with the heroine's ass
✦I LOVED Hadley's crazy small town family! From their ridiculous family games to her brothers' taking Will on hunting trips for imaginary animals to Paw Paw's obvious meddling into their love life, they were absolutely hilarious!
✦Absolutely sexy! Will truly wanted to hate Hadley and the war he had with himself because he was so attracted to Hadley was a huge turn on.
✦This was also heartwarming and emotional as Hadley realizes she should have been leaning on her supportive family instead of creating a fake life to impress them.
✦One of the cutest, sweetest epilogues but I won't spoil it for you!

What a disappointment. I had pre-ordered this book after reading the author's ROYAL BASTARD, which I found to be a genuinely entertaining read. RB was funny and romantic. There may have been predictability to the plot, but the writing and the characters made up for it.

This new one felt as if written by a different person. It's cliched, predictable, and, let's face it, boring. Nothing new under the sun here and the writing does not make up for that fact.

Heroine Hadley moved a couple years ago from the family ranch to make it on her own in the big city. She works with charitable organizations and met the hero's twin brother through her job. The handsome and hunky (natch) twins are rich (natch). Wes, the brother, is best friend now of Hadley but his brother Will is not having any of it. He is suspicious of this relationship, thinking Hadley is nothing but a gold-digger.

So, of course, Will is horrid to her. But, also of course, they are extremely sexually attracted to each other. Sound familiar?

When Wes cannot accompany Hadley back to the ranch as her plus one for her younger sister's wedding, Will fills in, to Hadley's chagrin and dissatisfaction. And, yada, yada. You'll meet lots of family members, all plucked from CR Central Casting, and you could possibly be amused by all this if it is one of your first-ever-read contemporary romances.

I personally found everyone to be shallow as a puddle and disliked or was indifferent to all, including the hero and heroine. The plot isn't entertaining enough, nor is the writing clever enough, to compensate.

Enemies to lovers is always up my alley!

I really enjoyed this story as I read it in a days time, my biggest cons are involved in the last 60 or so. I don't want to spoil but two specific things happen with our main couple that I was like...🙂

I did enjoy the duo POV and getting more insight on our characters with how they work. I loved the family elements, the three-legged fox debut, and the pace of the story. Overall, would recommend if you are looking for a romcom with some hate to love as two characters are thrown in a situation they feel unsettled by together!

Thank you to Entangled for gifting me a review copy of The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn. This is the fourth book in the Harbor City series, and while I hadn’t read the previous books I was able to dive into this one without any problems. I enjoyed this one so much I’ll for sure be going back to read the rest of the series though!

Our leading lady, Hadley Donavan has to go home to Nebraska for her sister’s wedding, something she is not looking forward to….because, well family can be a lot. Thanks to some poorly-timed food poisoning and a bit of conniving, instead of her best friend turning up to be her buffer, his brother shows up. And oh how she loathes every smokin’ hot inch of him. How two brothers (and twin brothers at that) can be so different is beyond her. But somewhere amidst all the pre-wedding events and family chaos, Will starts to shift from annoying to alluring.

This book was really fun, and y’all know how much I love an enemies to lovers trope, plus this book also has the one-bed situation which always spells trouble (in the best possible way)! I also thought the two main characters had great chemistry and there was lots of sassy dialogue (both spoken and internal), which I always enjoy. I’m not going to lie, there were a few times I wanted to slap the characters for doing dumb things, but there were also a lot of laugh-out-loud moments as well.

The book is told from both Hadley and Will’s points of view, which is great because you get to know what each of them is thinking, be a part of their ‘ah ha’ moments and see where they’re having miscommunications too.

In addition to really enjoying the main characters, I really loved Hadley’s family as well. Funny, sweet, no-nonsense folk I’d love to spend a weekend with. This is a great feel-good romance you should definitely check out.

I love a good enemies-to-lovers story and this was a great one! I had so much fun reading The Wedding Date Disaster! It was really entertaining with great characters mixed with a lot of sweet and heat!

I loved the animosity between Will and Hadley. I liked learning their history and what they were going through. These two seemed to be like oil and water but they had some really great banter happening, I loved that verbal sparring. I really liked that simmering sexual tension underneath it all and how it really grew into more! It was smoking hot! Hadley was a sweet person that was going through a lot and I liked her figuring it all out, opening up, and being real. I liked Will though at times I found his one-track mind frustrating. I really enjoyed everything clicking for him and seeing Hadley in a new light.

There are meddling family and friends in the mix that added to the fun. Hadley’s overprotective brothers were a bit over the top but their antics made for some amusing moments. I liked what the secondary characters added to the story and the predicaments that Will and Hadley were in. There were just a lot of great scenes that had me laughing.

This was a delightful read. It’s one of those stories that had me smiling all the way through because of the witty banter and antics, the hotness, and the way these Hadley and Will fell in love. If you are in need of some sexy outrageous fun, look no further!

it would be a solid four stars if not for how quickly she forgives him..it is just enough to say I love you apparently...throughout the whole book hero thinks the heroine is a golddigger who tries to snag his twin brother..I guess I am not so forgiving...

The Wedding Date Disaster is a refreshing and fun take on the enemies to lovers / fake relationship troupe. This is my first book by this author and it certainly won’t be my last!

The Wedding Date Disaster follow the story of Hadley and Will. Will thinks he knows what kind of girl his brother’s best friend, but he couldn’t be further from the truth. His assumptions are way off base, but try telling an alpha type that he’s wrong! He won’t believe you. Will tries to get his brother Web to see the light, but Web isn’t having and neither is fate. You see, Web is supposed to accompany Hadley to her sister’s wedding back home in Nebraska. Only, Web ends up really sick, so Will takes his place. Now, Hadley and Will are stuck pretending they are a couple and trying desperately to not kill each other. But you know what they say, those who fight the most have the greatest passion. The passion and tension between Hadley and Will is off the charts. Will these two give into their unexpected feelings or will Will’s assumptions come back to bite him? There’s only one way to find out….

Overall, I thought this book was a really fun read. I found the author’s take on this troupe to be fun and refreshing. Enemies to Lovers and Fake Relationships are my jam! And I couldn’t get enough of this one. I mean, Will and Hadley had tension in spades. Their chemistry burning off the pages. I will be the first to admit that Will drove me a little crazy with his hangups on Hadley, and I for one could not wait for him to get his head out of his butt. His heart was in the right place, and had been burned in the past. Hadley was easy to relate to. She loves her family even though they make her crazy. I loved seeing Hadley come into her true self and not be afraid to be the person she was always meant to be.

The Wedding Date Disaster is the kind of book that you can easily read in a single sitting. The characters and supporting cast are fun and entertaining. This book more than delivered in the enemies to lovers story line. I loved the drama and pull. I loved the angst and family moments. In the end, this book hit all the marks I was looking for and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Hadley and Will’s story come full circle.

I received an earc of The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn from Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

I've read a few Avery Flynn books before and enjoyed them quite a bit. They were fun and entering. So when I was asked if I wanted to review her newest release, I said yes. The Wedding Date Disaster was a fun read. I enjoyed the characters and the story - however, I did feel that it was missing a few things.

The Wedding Date Disaster follows Hadley Donavan as she makes her way back to her home town for her sister's wedding. She planned to bring her best friend as a decoy boyfriend, so she can survive her family. But things are flipped on its head when he sends his 'evil' twin brother instead. Hadley and Will Holt can't stand each other - or they think they can't. Will is only going on this trip to stop Hadley in her tracks. He doesn't like her and he will do anything to get on her nerves. But being stuck together in a rural town isn't always going to go to plan. For both of them.

Hadley was an interesting protagonist. I didn't hate her, but I could love her. I liked getting to know her throughout the story, but I was waiting for something more. Hadley was easy to get along with and there wasn't anything in particular that I didn't like about her. One of my favourite things about her though is her passion. Even though she has just lost her job and is feeling pretty crap, she tries to find the good in it all. And that made the reading experience way more positive.

Will was not an easy protagonist to get along with in The Wedding Date Disaster. For most of the novel I didn't like him at all. I thought he was an asshole for most of the book. I hate how he treated Hadley for so much of the book. And when I thought that he was going in the right direction, he does a full 360. I couldn't click with him from the start. He just read as an entitled character - which he was - but I made reading about him flat.

I felt that both of Avery Flynn's protagonists here weren't fully fleshed out. They were almost there, but just never made it over the last few hurdles. Even at the end of the novel, it took a lot for Will to understand the way that he was thinking was wrong. I didn't see much character growth and I wish it did have more because I enjoyed reading the novel.

While I didn't love Hadley and Will as characters, the romance was adorable and swoon-worthy. The Wedding Date Disaster is very much a hate-to-love romance. From the start, the reader can see all the angst and hate between the pair. It's full-on at the start. They both have their reasons for not liking each other but they also can't help but like each other as well. there was a lot of back and forth between the two. Along with the hate to love romance, this was also a fake romance. I loved this aspect of romance. It made for some great laughs, awkward moments and lots and lots of angst.

As soon as I read the synopsis of The Wedding Date Disaster I knew that it was going to be a fun read. And it was. There were some really good moments, especially with Hadley's family. I love the relationship that they had with one another. It's great seeing fantastic family dynamics in romances.

In saying that I do wish that we got to see more of Hadley's relationship with her best friend Web. I felt that their relationship was non-existence. I know that most of the book was set in the country. But I don't know, I wanted to see and know more about it.

Overall I had a fun time reading The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn. It was a quick romance novel that was swoon-worthy and full of laughs. The Wedding Date Disaster explores family and believing in yourself. Hadley was a great protagonist and I did enjoy the romance. Will isn't my favourite love interest out there, but his sweetness made up for it. If you are looking for a quick 'summer' read kind of romance, then this one is for you.

This was a fun read with an enemies to lover trope that really held fast to the enemies part throughout the majority of the story. Along with that was the “she’s a gold digger” plot and I couldn’t have been happier about it. Together, these elements made this crazy enjoyable.

Board Game Night | Charleston County Public Library

This was a romance with lots of light hearted fun and in which the characters are obviously developed to fit. Hadley wasn’t a hard as nails heroine, instead she’s struggling to find what she needs to start her business all while barely holding on to the life that she’s living. Will was not the hard core alpha type of hero that I love, but I did enjoy him and the rather unique voice this author gave him.

description

They were a lot of fun to watch as they bickered and interacted in private as well as in front of her family. Once this couple takes things to the next level, the chemistry sizzles across the page. They’ll definitely set your kindle on fire. The angst is pretty low with an uptick towards the end and while it was a rather obvious path to travel, I still enjoyed the direction this book and these characters took.

Overall, this was a really good read for the afternoon and I found it refreshing for its combined tropes.

The Wedding Date Disaster is a fantastic fake dating, twin swap, and enemies to lovers romantic comedy. Hadley has been faking her lifestyle to her family, so when her sister's wedding requires her to come home, she enlists her best friend to pose as her boyfriend. Well, Will is Hadley's best friend's twin brother and take his place when he gets sick before the trip. Hadley and Will do not have a good relationship, but at the same time, they secretly lust after each other. As the journey evolves, Will and Hadley find out that they have a lot of misconceptions about each other as well as secrets from Hadley's family. Their attraction jumps off the page, and Hadley's family is so much fun! I enjoyed this read.

I find myself drawn to this author’s books because of the cute blurbs. But sadly, I think her story telling style and my taste in books are just not a match. Sigh.

I didn’t like how the gold digger angle persisted as long as it did. Frankly, I didn’t like the H. And when that happens, it’s so hard for me to fall in love with the story.

I went into this thinking there would be no spice at all. That cover looks so sweet. So imagine my surprise when the word “cock” was dropped by 3%. Well okay then, I wasn’t mad at all. 😏

So we have Hadley, who is best friends with Web. Web has a twin brother named Will. Hadley and Will don’t like each other. Hadley thinks he’s an uptight snob. Will thinks she is a gold digger and after Webs money since they’re billionaires (duh they are cause millionaires are not what romance novels call for). Hadley has her sisters wedding to go to in a small ass town in Nebraska. Web was supposed to be her buffer, but alas he got sick. So Will agrees to go ONLY to try to force it out of her that she is after his money. Let me also point out: Wills ex fiancé was an actual gold digger and that’s why he is the way he is.

Only once they get to Nebraska they start to click. Things just make sense between them. And both of them start to fall. Will though…ugh Will just can’t get out of that mindset that she’s setting his brother up to take his money. I’m serious when I say I was so frustrated by him throughout this whole book. Like damn dude not everyone is your ex and is out to get you. But of course his mindset is his downfall.

What I NEEDED from this was more groveling. Will said and accused Hadley of some shitty things and I was glad she reacted the way she did. But damn i needed more from him. Like sir grovel some more, maybe get on your knees, cry a lil bit, worship her while apologizing. I JUST WANTED MORE.

The third person narrative threw me off a few times, but can’t say I wasn’t entertained.

Another entry in this author's shared universe of books set in and around Harbor City. This one focuses on the twin super-rich Holt brothers, Web and Will. Web's best friend is Hadley Donavan, a charity worker who has just lost her job because of Web's brother Will. When Hadley has to return to Nebrasja and her family's ranch for her sister's wedding and the week leading up to it, she enlists Web to be her fake boyfriend.

Only when her fake boyfriend steps off the plane, it's the wrong twin. The evil one. The one who's convinced that Web and Hadley's friendship is actually Hadley trying to scam Web into a gold-digging relationship. What follows is a funny and fairly hot combination of the fake dating and enemies to lovers tropes along with Hadley's large and quirky family.

These are fun, quick reads that always seem to put a smile on my face. Some of them feel a little forced: this one does not, and it's nice to get out of the shared setting for a while. As with most of her books, there's very clearly characters that can get their own upcoming stories too.

The Wedding Date Disaster
By Avery Flynn

A fun enemies to love trope about a small town girl pretending to have made it with a perfect life and a boyfriend in tow. I thought the writing was fun and engaging with some lovely laugh out loud moments. I found that the characters had good chemistry and great banter. I enjoyed the secondary characters and Hadley's family and the attraction between Hadley and Will was just mesmerizing. Overall an enjoyable book and a fun escape read I had fun reading.

ARC received from publisher via Netgalley for an honest review

I love a good enemies-to-lovers tale, and throw in twin shenanigans and I will be hooked.

There is so much snark between Hadley and Will - her best friend's twin. Misconceptions abound from Will, and as much as these frustrated me, I loved Hadley's clap backs at him. They say fighting is foreplay, and this pair burn up the pages with sexual tension. They drive each other - and this reader- crazy, but you just know they are going to burn up the sheets if they ever get their act together.

I feel for Hadley that she has to lie to her family, however loved how these things eventually made her family bonds stronger.

I laughed out loud at times, I wanted to throw my reader at Will's face, I just needed this pair to sort themselves out.

Oh, and I will say I want - no, I need Web's story. I feel some revenge coming his way!

The Wedding Date Disaster is a sassy, fun, and flirty romance that I couldn't get enough of. I can always count on Avery Flynn to give me a romance with characters that I adore. Will and Hadley may not get along in the beginning, but it sure made their witty banter reach perfection.

Hadley is a sweet, caring, and determined woman. When she gets an invite to her sister's wedding, her best friend, Web, agrees to be her date. She is thankful because she doesn't want to hear it from her family. Things get complicated when Web gets sick and can't go. But Web's twin brother, Will is willing to fill in.

Will is a wealthy bachelor who doesn't have the best relationship with Hadley...and that's an understatement. He and Hadley have always butt heads because he doesn't want his brother to get used by a woman like he once was. He is not looking forward to being Hadley date for her sisters wedding but sees it as a mother way of protecting his brother from another 'gold digger.'

When Will and Hadley are in Nebraska for the wedding, faking their tension is going to be difficult. Hadley doesn't understand why Will thinks she is determined to use his brother for his money. She tries to be kind with Will to prove that she doesn't have bad intentions but nothing seems to be working.

Being so close and in a car for a while helps thems bond and start to understand each other better. Road trips always seem to do that. I realize that their tension may have just been caused by their true feelings for one another. Can Will open up his heart again?

I loved this romance so much because I just adore an enemies to lovers trope. Avery Flynn's writing made me invested in these characters and had me rooting for them the entire time. I thought her supporting characters like Web and PawPaw were amazing and played a significant role in bringing Will and Hadley together.

I give The Wedding Date Disaster 5 stars. I loved this book so much that I could re-read it all over again because the chemistry between Hadley and Will was fantastic. I think Will's growth throughout the story and Hadley's ability to break down his walls will captivate readers. Fantastic romance read that you won't be able to put down.

The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn
Harbor City #4, Dating Disasters #1
8h 36m narrated by Kelsey Navarro, 330 pages

Genre: Romance > Contemporary Romance; Adult Fiction, Chick Lit, Humor, Family, Westerns

Featuring: Billionaires, Nebraska, Wedding Week, Multiple Tropes, Ranch, Sex-Detailed, Siblings, Family, Trust Issues

Rating as a movie: X for strong sexual content and language

Songs for the soundtrack: "Best Friend's Brother" by Victoria Justice

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½

My thoughts: 📱3% 17:46 Ch. 2 - I'm not sure if this book's trope is friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, a triangle, or all three. It's interesting for sure.
📱42% 3:40:00 Ch. 10 - This has gotten a lot better, but it's so cheesy, like Cinemax After Dark.

Finally! There were a lot of breaks today, but I didn't reflect on them; my thoughts were on repeat. This story reminded me of The Parent Trap, but it's a completely different trope. It had potential, but parts of it were annoying, and I didn't like the end. The locations for the sex were a bit cringy. I don't know how many legs Lighting has as the author changed her mind.

Recommend to others?: There are some funny bits here but I found it more corny than fun. It's your call.

This was a light hearted romcom of a story between two enemies. Hadley needed a plus one to her sisters wedding to keep the charade that her life was wonderful at the big city. Her best friend was supposed to pose as her boyfriend but couldn’t make it at the last minute. Instead his evil twin, Will, took his place. There were a lot of flirty bickering and cute one ups with each other. Her family was an added plus to the story especially Paw Paw. The epilogue was adorable.

I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for my honest review. Thank you for my copy!

A very enjoyable enemies to lover story. Hadley and Will do not get along. He thinks she is after his twin brothers money but is attracted to her regardless. She calls Will the evil twin and is so frustrated by him. But is attracted to him regardless. Their chemistry is undeniable and will curl your pages. The road to HEA is a fun, bumpy one, and I'm hoping for a bool about Web.

I loved the premise of this book, but the characters kept repeating their intentions and their thoughts about each other, and it weighed on the otherwise sweet storyline.

I really couldn't stand the hero of this book. If I hadn't gone the audiobook route with this book I probably would have abandoned it.
