If You Want To Win, Get The Sisterhood On Your Side

The seven women of the Sisterhood--Myra, Annie, Kathryn, Alexis, Yoko, Nikki, and Isabelle--have risked everything in the name of justice, including their own freedom. Their most recent mission promised to reward them with a presidential pardon and a chance to leave their enforced exile. But before they can enjoy their prize, they'll have to tackle a risky new mission in the heart of Sin City.

Myra and Annie's childhood friend, Beatrice, needs a favor. Her estranged daughter, Marble Rose, has been enjoying a stroke of good luck at the casinos lately--the kind of luck that makes enemies of the most powerful people in Vegas. Those people want Marble Rose stopped, permanently. But as the Sisters investigate with the help of their ally and attorney, Lizzie Fox, they discover a web of corruption that will pit them against their most ruthless opponent yet. Armed with Alexis's red bag of tricks, the ladies are about to put a daring plan in action. They've never failed before, but in Vegas, there are no sure bets--and this time, they'll have to wager everything they hold dear. . .

Fern Michaels isn’t a person. I’m not sure she’s an entity either since an entity is something with separate existence. Fern Michaels® is what I DO. Me, Mary Ruth Kuczkir. Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth. I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day. To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was ‘a dinky little thing’ weighing in at four and a half pounds. However, I answer to Fern since people are more comfortable with a name they can pronounce.

As they say, the past is prologue. I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids. When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job. Those were his exact words. I didn’t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother. I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like. The library was a magical place for me. It still is to this day. Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book. For some reason that didn’t intimidate me. As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does. Guess what, I don’t have that husband any more. Guess what else! I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.

Moving right along here . . . Several years ago I left Ballantine Books, parted company with my agent, sold my house in New Jersey that I had lived in all my married life and in 1993 moved to South Carolina. I figured if I was going to go through trauma let it be all at one time. It was a breeze. The kids were all on their own at that point. The dump was a 300 year old plantation house that is listed in the National Registry that I remodeled. Today it is beyond belief as are the gardens and the equally old Angel Oaks that drip Spanish moss. Unfortunately, I could not get my ghost to relocate. This ghost has been documented by previous owners. Mary Margaret as we call her, is “a friendly”. She is also mischievous. It took me two weeks to figure out that she didn’t like my coffee cups. They would slide off the table or counter or else they’d break in the dishwasher. I bought red checkered ones. All are intact as of this writing. She moves pillows from one room to the other and she stops all the clocks in the house at 9:10 in the a.m. at least once a week. When the Azaleas are in bloom, and only then, I find blooms on my night stand. I have this glorious front porch and during the warm months I see my swing moving early in the morning when the air is still and again late in the day. She doesn’t spook the dogs. I always know when she’s around because the five of them line up and look like they’re at a tennis match. As of this writing we’re co-habiting nicely.

Most writers love what they do and I’m no exception. I love it when I get a germ of an idea and get it down on paper. I love breathing life into my characters. I love writing about women who persevere and prevail because that’s what I had to do to get to this point in time. It’s another way of saying it doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what matters is where you’re going and how you get there. The day I finally prevailed was the day I was inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame. For me it was an awesome day and there are no words to describe it.
I’ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years. I hope I can continue for another 37 years. It wasn’t easy during some of those years. As I said, I had to persevere. My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot. She said when God is good to you, you have to give back. For a while I didn’t know how to do that. When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels® Foundation.

I could have sworn that this was the work of a 13 year old fanfiction writer. From the silver-haired lawyer to the older woman clutching her pearls, and all the squealing, and love at first sight, I have trouble believing a mature, bestselling author wrote this. It was my first Fern Michaels novel, and probably my last.

All I can say is I have had enough. I question why I have continued along with this series. I thought that was to be the 'final' book in the series. If it is then Ms. Michaels sure left a lot of unfinished business!
Also all through the book I kept thinking here we go again...totally unrealistic. Just once I wanted one of the vigilantes to get caught. I hope I can stick to my word and not read any more of the sisterhood books if there is more. I have had ENOUGH. Are we really suppose to believe this crap? Another few wasted hours of my life that I will never get back...........Am I the only one who feels this way, or are there others out there????

The ladies and a gent or two are headed to Las Vegas to help out an old childhood friend of Myra and Annie's. Beatrice's estranged daughter has gotten herself in trouble with a casino in Sin City, and this casino wants to make sure Marble Rose doesn't walk away with any more of their money. However, the mission morphs almost from the get-go, and it will require more of Lizzie Fox's skills than the lead vigilantes at first. Lizzie and Ted Robinson unearth a much larger scheme at the casino in question than anyone anticipated and the stakes couldn't be higher.

Well, Michaels returns to the formula of the last several books, except for book 11. She pairs the Sisterhood with random men, and it's completely unnecessary. One of the reasons I enjoyed the earlier titles is that there wasn't a lot of romance. Now, I do appreciate that Michaels isn't going into detail—she leaves it all to the imagination—but the pairing off is cheesy and annoying. Why bring men into it? And the dynamic between the male members of the Sisterhood is annoying. It's not realistic of male friendships, at least none I've ever witnessed. It reads like a caricature of male friendships. This one wasn't great, yet I'm picking up book 13. What about the books in this series keep me on the figurative hook?

Sisterhood vs Las Vegas

So in this novel the Sisterhood aka the Vigilantes have a very intresting mission; help get a woman, Marble Rose, out of jail and take care of the Inner circle of the Babylon Casino. A group of women take on the big bads from Vegas.

A few highlights are:
Fox meets a man she does soon forget and her 'intrigue' tends to be a bit costly for Cricket

Jack gets to drive or rather torment The Sisters in a Hearse.

We meet a guy names Little Fish and discover Annie has forgotten how to flirt...completly

A quick mention of the presidental election going on

And yet again Snafu take place but that doesn't stop Isabelle from catching the eye of a certain guy.

Overall decent book. Dialog gets a bit crazy at times. Story flows alright. Great if you are all about women vigilantes righting a few wrongs. However, I'm always a bit disappointed about the lack of romance. We get little tid bits and teaser but thats it. To me it feels like I'm eating my cake without the frosting. Great action, drama, and excitment and friendships but romance is basically hinted at.

This is #12 in the series and the Sisterhood is once again taking on a mission to right a wrong. While they wait for their Presidential Pardons and a chance to leave their forced exile they're tackling a new mission in Las Vegas. Myra and Annie's childhood friend Beatrice, needs a favor. Although she's monetarily rich, her relationship with her daughter is dismal at best. However; she's requesting the Sisterhood's help to save her daughter from the clutches of the most powerful people in Las Vegas. Loved this one, especially for the unexpected twists and turns, some good, some not so good. :)

The Sisters really hoped Martine Connors won the election and became President so they could get their pardons. Like everything else, things don't always run smoothly when the girls are concerned. First, Bert is likely to be nominated FBI Director except possibly for his friendship with Jack and Harry. Jack, Harry, Ted, Joe, and Maggie set out to publicly have Bert denounce Jack and Harry as friends. Will their trick work?
Lizzie heads to Las Vegas to help an old friend of Anne' and Myra's whose daughter is in trouble. The case turns into a much bigger problem which can influence the election.
Will Martine get elected so she can pardon the Sisterhood?

This was one of the earlier mysteries involving a mission carried out by the Sisterhood. It seemed that Fern Michaels, the author, allowed this novel to be our opportunity to learn about the seven sisters, Annie, Kathryn, Nikki, Alexis, Yoko, and my favorite, Lizzie. I wasn’t thrilled with this mission, but saving a mother’s daughter, securing the rightful person in the White House, and ridding a particular Las Vegas casino of a ruthless group of thugs, aka laundering thieves, kept the vigilantes busy, for sure.

The Sisterhood is called in to help stop a major theft at gambling casinos in Vegas. An innocent woman was blamed and in jail. Lizzi acts as her attorney and meets up with key players in Vegas. Casino owners offer a billion, yes with a B, to find the culprits. The sisterhood and the male partners descend upon Vegas, release the innocent, catch the culprits. Then, the vigilantes donated money to their Presidential candidate and she won! The first woman Presidential of the USA pardoned them all after she landed on Pine Mountain and thanked each one of them.

What Happens in Vegas Only Sometimes Stays in Vegas
This book is the twelth book in a series. The series revolves around a group of women, and their friends, who try to right wrongs. Part vigilante, part mercenary, they work for the good of all, at least in their eyes. This series should be read in order because the stories build on each other. There are no cliffhangers. This story is clean with no foul language, little violence, no gore, and no onscreen sex. I have been reading the entire series and have been enjoying it.

As usual, Fern Michaels wrote and intriguing book about the Sisterhood, a group of women who set out to solve crimes. She is one of the best authors of our generation and is also one not to miss. If you’ve never read one of her book, you must add one to your list. Final Justice is an older book (2008) and begins with the idea that it might be the group’s final mystery to solve. However, as most know, it’s not the last one as the series continues with several more books. Be sure to read a Fern Michaels’ book as soon as you get the chance.

There has to be books before this one cause I had no idea what was going on in the beginning and no idea who these vigilantes were. But it's a good book. They're defiantly a tight nip group of people. I thought Cricket and Lizzie thing was awesome! And Annie and little fish, wish I knew what happened to them after.

I am a huge fan of The Sisterhood, however, this one just didn't catch me as the rest have. It felt as though the story of the vigilantes took too long to unfold, and thus, was packed into the last 3 chapters of the book. On the other hand, I enjoyed that Lizzie received a bigger role in this story. It gave the readers a little more insight into her unique character.

As always, the Sisterhood takes one for a wild ride. Fern Michaels has an amazing number of tricks up her sleeve to take care of any bad players. The story is, as usual, a little formulaic, but the characters become more and more real as the series goes on. These books are, in my mind, pure escapist fiction. They are a quick and fun read!

I like this series. It keeps me wanting more. Thank goodness I have many to go. I love the characters that she has made. Every time a new character is brought in, I get worried about the sisters, lol. Funny how you can get wrapped up in a series.

I usually like Fern Michael's books, but didn't care for this one. There were too many characters that were never developed. The plot was never fully realized and I found my mind wandering numerous times while trying to read.

I have mixed feelings about this one. There are fun parts and a somewhat good ending, but the path to the culprits is not clear. Lizzie has a big part and meets her future husband. Some of the dialogue is hokey. Some parts are just not believable.

I felt this book was very disjointed as if I had missed reading a book in between. I know I hadn’t. I love this series and don’t know why I feel this way. Also I don’t feel the ladies played a big enough part in this book. I really love their hi-jinx! Overall it still was a very good book!

Did it again

Fern Michaels took me on a journey to the unknown. You knew it would work out in the end, but the journey was tangled and suspenseful. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes mystery, humor, and HEA.

Hmmm

The main reason this gets a 4 star is because Mozzie finally found a worthy man. Too much of this series is all the same. They need new catch phrases, new locations, new problems. The situations they get into need to be more detailed. I could go on, but I you get the picture.

Loved it

We met so many new characters in this book that hold significant places with the vigilantes in the future. I think this book was a turning point for all the vigilantes. Can't wait to see what happens in the future.

I liked this one - the Vegas setting was fun. Also seems like there are a couple of new love interests.

Loses half a star (would have been a 4) because there is ZERO advancement in the Jack & Nikki story.
