Forward is not my usual fare when reading. That being said I was glued to my Oasis from the first page. Time travel and sci-fi elements don't generally appeal to me. As I was reading this book I got the pre-order email for spin off book. I ordered when I was only half through Forward. Elizabeth Fyre is a force to be reckoned with in my opinion. I usually shy away when I book is less the 150 pages. Elizabeth's ability to grab the reader with action, erotic, and wonderful characters in such a quick read was outstanding. I may actually start reading more short e books. I can say though that I am now a loyal fan of this author. I am intrigued with the idea of stretching my reading focus. Erotica is almost essential in my reading and this book stretched those ideas. Forward actually has me wondering about the future options of relationship dynamics and partners. If I could give this short read 6 stars I would.

The blurb for Forward definitely caught my eye, and the pitch from Elizabeth Fyre stoked that curiosity, but I was not expecting the depth or the breadth of the story here. This was a pleasant surprise all around.

Based on the blurb, I only expected a quick bit of time travel, perhaps a few sci-fi elements to set the scene, with the heaviest emphasis on the erotica, but the balance here impressed me. Fyre presents us with a near-future that, on the surface, seems close to a Utopia of advanced technology and sexual freedom, but which proves to be built on some genuine darkness and sorrow. A mix of natural disasters, political upheaval, and social unrest have not only stranded Sandra Phillip 35 years in the future, they’ve made her both a celebrity and an object of fascination. As for the social unrest, the questions raised there force us to consider the violence in a new light.

As for the erotic elements, Sandra finds herself in a future free of current moral and religious constraints, making open relationships and bisexuality polyamory the norm. That opens up a world of possibilities, although I was a bit disappointed that her attraction to Katie never gets farther than stolen kisses while Tim gets more that one opportunity to submit to Alexandre’s seductive ways. Having said that, the way everyone sort of opens their eyes to the possibilities and follows their hearts, free of judgement or shame, is refreshing – and the scenes involving Sandra, Alexandre, and Tim are scorching hot.

In terms of the characters, Fry did a fantastic job of making them all likable, which is both good and bad. I felt that constrained Alexandre a bit, which made it hard to believe he might have ulterior motives, removing some of the tension from the story. Similarly, it made it hard to question what happens to Katie later in the story, when the possibility of betrayal could have added further tension. Not surprisingly, it was the gender-fluid android, Cody, who captured my imagination the most, so I was very happy to see them included in the finale.

Even if it missed some opportunities to maximize on the darkness and tension, Forward was an imaginative, erotic, satisfying story that has me eager to read more of Fyre’s work.

The writing and editing of this novel was fairly good, with only occasional typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building of this futuristic world was okay. The description of this novel was a little misleading, because I was expecting an erotic romance novel by the blurb, and this story was definitely erotica, not romance. The characterization was a little flat. The development of the romantic relationship was all right up until the end, when it went down in flames. The plot and pacing was all right, though I struggled a little getting through this novel. This novel had low angst and medium stakes. I did not notice any common romance novel tropes here, probably because this was not a romance novel. The plot, pacing, and world building were three stars. The characterization was two stars, and the development of the romantic relationship was one star. The clean writing was four stars. Therefore, the combined score of this novel was three stars. This story did not end on a Happy Ever After ending. The romantic relationship ended badly, which is a huge con for this story, in my opinion. I recommend this story to readers looking for erotica, not readers looking for erotic romance which ends on an HEA. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I really don't exactly know how to react to this story. This story tells about a girl going into the future and what happens there. Like all of Elizabeth's stories, this one does not skimp on the steam scenes at all. There is a steamy scene almost every chapter, which I absolutely love. Also, the things that happened in the future were very surprising. The author put a lot of thought and imagination into this story. The storyline was good as well. I only found one issue and this might be a personal preference issue so I didn't take off stars for this. The ending was not totally happy. Some of the characters ended up happy and were able to do what they wanted to do, but the love story that the book was about did not end with a happily ever after. The future could hold a happy ending for everyone, but the reader is left wondering if that happens or not. Other than this small issue based on personal preferences on story endings this book was a lot of fun to read and keep me excited and thinking the whole time. mI received this book for free from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Forward, a BWWM MFM romance is a well-written book with good characters. This is an action packed suspense filled romance story. This book is an emotional ride to healing and love. These characters are well-crafted with all the flaws as the rest of us and will grow throughout the book. A good read, an will look forward to more books by this Author

This book had me questioning my sexuality that I thought was pretty set at my age. It was so sexy from start to finish and nothing felt off or unusual. I loved it and it had me hot and bothered. My partner certainly appreciated the side effects! It was definitely an interesting look into what one possible future could be like. An amazing adult read.

It is an exciting and interesting story, that is filled with wonderful characters. You won’t be able to help falling in love with the storyline, as it sucks you in right away and doesn’t let go.

Enjoyable

Good read Very likable story the characters are good, based on experimental time travel and the error that sees the pod jumping further than they expected.

I read this story and I'm hooked. It feels like there's more to the story of Sandra and Alexandre and I really want to find out. I feel teased and I need my climax. I'm waiting for the rest of it with so much anticipation!
