Survival is key.

I returned to civilian life, thinking that I would be fine.

But the truth is…

I’m not.

Not when I see Sadie, my best friend’s widow, struggling.

Not when my last promise to Adam was to take care of her—no matter the cost.

When she unknowingly moves into my garage apartment—she enters my world.

I didn’t understand how hard it would be to be near her.

I’ve loved her since I could remember, but I promised to protect her.

Even from myself.

I've been looking forward to finally reading Mason's story after getting little teaser bits of information in the previous books. And let me tell ya that I really enjoyed it and felt like the authors did a great job of writing he and Sadie's history and struggles. As well as those things that were holding them back from opening up to each other as well as their family members. But I loved that Sadie could see and understand what Mason was going through because she knew from her husband who was killed in action having been in the military.

The McKnight family was just as great in this book as in the previous books. I really loved their openness and acceptance of each other and their love towards their family and friends. They have their struggles but they still care and help. Sadie was unsure of her position in being a friend and on the outside of this family but she was welcomed and I enjoyed watching those relationships develop and grow.

The beginning predicament that Sadie finds herself in was pretty funny when it played out and she figured out what was going on. Probably not very funny for her but for the reader, I was smirking while reading!

There's plenty of sweet and swoony romance between these two once they let their defenses fall. Although there's still some struggles and some walls go back up. But it's all worth it.

Content: Clean. Kissing but nothing further. Talk about military and war like situations, PTSD and healing.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Sweet romance

I love the McKnight family. They are so much fun. I've wondered about Mason and Sadie for a while and am so glad we got to read their story finally. This was a beautiful story about healing, love and trust. I like that Mason's past wasn't taken lightly and that we got such a beautiful story of healing from it. Sadie was a firecracker. I never knew for sure how she would react, but I sure loved her. Her and Mason are good together.

Another great read by Anne-Marie Meyer to the McKnight Family series. She once again brings strong characters and an entertaining story line. I was captured and held fast reading this book. She brings detailed and descriptive scenes and moves the story fluidly. I enjoyed reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

It was a good read

Spoilers... here and there

What can I say about this book? Not much really. I can say that I definitely enjoyed it and been waiting for this book to come out.

Because for one I just knew that this one was going to be about Mason. Because I figured there was something up with Mason and Sadie. It goes way back to high school when Adam and Mason were friends; Adam and Sadie got together.

I would say that Mason was a good friend because for one. He could’ve told Adam that he actually liked Sadie for all those years. But maybe Adam gave him permission to date her. Since he said to look out for his family since he KIA. Knew he was wasn’t going to be there for them to love and cared for them.

But to learn that Adam was different compare to the way Mason talked about women in general well more so Sadie. You could tell that Mason showed more feelings. Though Adam did too. I think Mason may have been more sensitive than Adam. Often it is like that with friends.

But at least Mason got the help that he needed before seeking anything with Sadie. Because I could tell he had to work things out with himself friends before he loves anyone else. He was going through it; PSTD isn’t a joke. This is fiction, but I know how PSTD can mess with you... I have it and was glad that after he did what he needed to do he didn’t push Sadie away.

I also liked the end with Carter. I can’t wait until November 30th to come so that I could read the one about him and the mystery girl who took his spot. I’m definitely curious as to who she may be. Hopefully, that book is out before the 30th lol, that’ll make my day.

This is a great series and I thoroughly enjoyed reading His Redemption. I liked the close knit McKnight family and how they are always there for each other. My heart went out to Mason, who is suffering from PTSD, but tries to keep it all bottled up because his best friend died while serving and he feels guilty.
I also liked Sadie, whose husband was Mason's best friend. She is raising a cute, seven year old boy, going back to school to get her nursing degree, and waitressing to make ends meet.
It was interesting to watch Mason and Sadie interact after she ended up moving into the apartment over his garage, not knowing he owned it. She made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him but with the help of her son, Parker that was not going to work. There were just too many sparks for either of them to ignore.
I enjoyed Sadie's strong character and her mama bear instincts toward Mason. This story seemed so real and believable and the characters pulled me right into their lives and their dramas. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I liked it

I did. But, Sadie has come across as a giant B since the first book. Mason cones across as a hardened grouch.

We do get to see the other side of their personalities. Sadie is still a B for the majority of the book. She says she doesnt have a bad attitude, but she rarely doesn't have one. Like 80% of the book. Mason is suffering from unchecked PTSD and having difficulty adjusting to civilian life.

She has moments of sweetness where she doesn't outright snub Mason for reasons that make ABSOLUTELY no sense and come out of no where.

We learn Mason loves Sadie, and has since he met her (super awkward since she married his best friend). He is completely devoted, yet he knows his limitations. He doesn't have a name for them until Mama McKnight sends help, but he knows he isn't at his best.

I will say Sadie is very adjusted for a recent widow. Knowing and accepting that her chances of being a widow seem to do wonders for her. She had no reason to feel badly for wanting to move on to her happily ever after with a picket fence.

Overall, a cute story about devotion and trust.

I liked this book overall but I had some significant issues with it. There really isn't a climax to the story, it's a quiet resolve to acknowledge their feelings and fade to black. It's a clean romance with moments of sexual tension, but most of it is about pent up trauma.they kiss passionately twice. Mostly longing glances and inner monologues about how wrong it is to want each other with the occasional Snipes at each other. I'm not even sure they have a whole conversation. All about body language I guess. Also we don't ever get to see them as a couple, it just ends. The epilogues just set up the next story and we are only getting small glimpses of the couples in the subsequent books.

So overall disappointing. I enjoyed these two characters and their story. Several plot points end up unresolved from their backstory and what kept them apart initially, maybe something they could have had a conversation about. Mason is the strong silent type but he should communicate more than Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator. I think the authors took on a lot with a PTSD storyline and it didn't balance well or help the plot move forward. It instead became a stumbling block to it. Bummer.

This is the second chance story about love for Sadie, whose husband was killed in action. She’s raising her son, Parker, working as a waitress, and getting ready to go back to school. When she’s given the bad news that she has to find a new place to live, she doesn’t know what she’s going to do. Her friend, Lilly, tells her she may have a solution for her. The solution turns out to be the garage apartment owned by Mason, the best friend to her deceased husband, Adam. Unknown to Sadie, Mason has loved her since junior prom. Grab your copy and see if Mason will get his happily after with Sadie or if she reconnects with her ex-boyfriend from high school that she has a college class with.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Couldn't put it down!

I stayed up way past my bedtime finishing this because it was just so sweet. I love the McKnight family and this series has captured my heart. Mason seems so perfect on the outside. He is a returned soldier, officer, handsome, athletic, and also haunted. The promise to his dying best friend is the thing that haunts him most. Mason promised to watch over and protect Sadie, but his heart yearns for more while his head screams in confusion. Mason suffers from PTSD and doesn't want to inflict more pain on Sadie and her son Parker. Mason tries so hard to be ok, but he needs help. Sadie doesn't know how to help because she doesn't know Mason's heart. As they work through their attraction, guilt, and frustration, they begin to feel hope and love.

Another Quick Read

If you’re looking for a quick, wholesome read then the McKnight Family books are for you. This is the story of Mason McKnight, sheriff and former military man. He returned home, but his best friend didn’t. Mason carries guilt from that and is trying to stay true to his promise to take care of his friend’s widow. Sadie is now a single mom and due to unfortunate circumstances had to vacate her lease and find a new place to stay. Little does she know that new place is the garage apartment belonging to Mason. Her son finds a man who is there for him, while Sadie and Mason find themselves in murky waters. Finding their way through isn’t a bed of roses, but this does have an HEA as do the previous stories.

Mason has been secretly crushing on his best friend's widow since high school. Almost just a coincidence that she ended up with Adam and not him. Find out in this fast paced story of redemption, forgiveness, and a new start to life. Happy Reading!

There is so much heart in this book. Love for a lost friend, love for a lost romance, love from mom to son, from family members to each other. I just remember feeling so much support and love in this book. For a veteran suffering from PTSD who needs help but is also still in love with his high school crush; Who just so happens to be his KIA best friends widow. The distance is so great between these two because of misunderstandings and because of self pride. I loved seeing the slow burn up to a great romance! Can't wait for the rest of this series!

Thoughtful and loving Read

Veterans do not always get the respect they deserve. Having been married to a 20 year vet, I could appreciate the love shown in this story. It has been a blessing to see our wounded vets get more loving attention than in past generations. Thank you Lucy for sharing the struggles so many vets and their families face at then end of their military careers.

I enjoyed this story except for one unresolved issue of Mason feeling responsible for Adam's death and Sadie feeling that Mason had something to do with Adam's death, it was mentioned in story but never addressed later. Otherwise, the story addressed PTSD well and the characters are well-developed. I look forward to the rest of the series.

A lively romance between a feisty widow and a wounded warrior that will capture your heart. “Strong women had a way of weaseling into our hearts and taking up residence there without even trying.”
“Oh sure, there would be bumps in the road, but the journey would be a beautiful one full of love and family.”

Love this series!

Ah, what a great story! Little bits of Mason's story was revealed in his sisters books, and his messy interactions with Sadie, so this was a story I looked forward to for ages.

It didn't disappoint. The emotions, tension, unique plot. I loved every moment of it.

Looking forward to Carter's book! 😁

His Redemption is a beautiful, heartwarming, well told romance. I like Sadie and Mason. All the characters are well developed. Parker, Sadie's son, is a darling. With the McKnight family as their support, can Mason finally start to overcome his PTSD? Can Sadie and Mason find an HEA? I could not put the book down. I just kept reading. Who needs sleep when you have a great book to read?

Redemption

This was a great story with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. The characters were complex and interesting. Each person has something to work through and they helped each other at times unknowingly but all for the better.

One of the better McKnight books.

Content: Clean. No sex. No swearing (that I recall.)

As noted above, this book is clean. But it's not sterile. It does a great job of producing feelings, which is the entire point of reading a romance, right?

PTSD, a final promise, and a secret love.

He had made a promise. She had lost her husband. He had saved her son. He needed hope, to forgive himself, to love. She needed hope, a future, and love. Highly recommended for all readers.

⭐️⭐️✨️ 2.5 stars

I enjoyed this one WAYYYY more than Penny and Chris' story. This is what a couple with chemistry feels like. I was here for the tension and the build up, I will say it did fall flat though. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.

idk

Much much better than book 2. Though there wasn’t much of an explanation for the standoff between the two characters to end, it was just over and then the one character was overtly fighting to be with the other. It was cute and it’s a quick read.

A Good Story

Another great read in the McKnight Family series.
I really enjoyed this book and while still a fun read does contain some serious subject matter dealing with the PTSD and other issues for returned service men.

It was a nice, clean, and entertaining read. What I like about this series is that it gives bits and pieces of the family members of the McKnight family. I like to snuggle into these types of reads when I need to come down from the Everest I just read before.

Well done

It covers the aftermath of trauma well; not soppy, or trite. A low key romance with depth. A nice touch.
