This is a Novella Suspense with a Second Chance Romance, and this is the first book in the MacArthur Family series. This book is a short and quick read, but it was really good. I think this book took me just over a hour to read the whole book. I have see people talk about the romance in this book, but this book has a suspense thing happening in the background. I enjoyed both the suspense and the romance, but if you do not like suspense romance you may not enjoy this book. I really got pulled into this book so fast, and it was well written. I think for a novella that was around 100 pages there was so much put into. I love a well written novella. The characters where very developed which I did not think was going to be the case because how short the book was. I really loved this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (KR Press, LLC) or author (Katie Reus) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Falling for Irish by Katie Reus
Book 1 of the MacArthur Family series. Contemporary romantic suspense novella.
Kathryn Irish was afraid that she and Daniel MacArthur had different end goals in life so she walked away from their prior romantic relationship. When she runs into him as part of her security job, he makes it clear he’s missed her and wants a second chance.

I appreciated the hero so much in this book because he was clear on his intentions and his feelings. He missed her and wanted to try again. No hidden agenda that didn’t match. Plus the two openly discussed problems.
I enjoyed the siblings appearances on both sides and look forward to their upcoming stories. I love the closeness of the familiar relationships.

Enjoyable romance, a couple of sexy scenes and intriguing family hints for the next book.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

What a spectacular beginning to this new series!

This is a novella but it feels like so much more, mainly due to the fact Kathryn and Daniel had been in a relationship prior to the beginning of this story. That carries a lot of weight and validates their emotions and responses.

I loved the way Daniel had perceived his relationship with Kathryn the first time around as well as his reactions to her when they were reunited a few months later. Any hero that is possessive, jealous and above all, protective, is a hero I will always recommend. Add in some smexy moves and all my check-boxes have been marked.

While this is primarily about the relationship between Kathryn and Daniel, it has its standard Katie Reus suspense and mystery threaded throughout it making it even more of a page turner. I gobbled this down in one sitting and was immediately hungry for the rest of the series.

With action and drama sprinkled throughout, secondary characters I can’t wait to get more of and the sizzling chemistry with this couple, I highly recommend this!

ARC received for review

A new series by Ms. Reus that starts it off with a bang. There is suspense and romance as Daniel and Kathryn reunite and fall in love again. There is someone out to harm her, but Daniel is determined to keep her safe and never let her go again.

They both have siblings to get HEAs which I can't wait to read.

Falling for Irish is the first book in Katie Reus's new MacArthur Family series. It is a novella so it is a quick read but worth the time. Kathryn and Daniel's story is a second chance romance after a misunderstanding occurred between the two of them. These two characters have good chemistry and are surrounded by a good cast of secondary characters. There is a little bit of suspense involved in the plot. I enjoyed this novella and look forward to the next two in the series.

I voluntarily read a digital advanced reader copy provided to me by the publisher through Netgalley. The thoughts expressed are my own.

A fun, cute novella with a nerdy heroine and a rich, overprotective hero.

This starts out with them broken up over a misunderstanding. When they see each other again, Daniel realizes he just can't get over her and he's determined to win her back.

The things I loved about this was first and foremost, the protective and possessive hero, a guy chases girl theme, and the nerdy, hacker heroine who made the hero work for it.

What a sweet quick read. Kathryn and Daniel had dated and then he broke her heart, so when she sees him again he's shocked she's wearing a diamond and she's still weak kneed over him. Knowing all that she still has to complete this job.

Read this book to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed this one.
It’s a novella and the introduction to a new short series of 3 books. Each featuring one of the MacArthur siblings. Consequently there’s a lot going on here.
On top of introducing all the main players there’s attacks on Kathryn. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Daniel is rich, handsome and successful. Kathryn is beautiful and independent. They were both happy together until she discovered he thought she was after his money. So she walked away.
But like him she’s unable to move on. Then she finds herself back in his life and he’s not letting her go at least not without a fight this time.but it’s not all smooth sailing Kathryn’s had two recent seemingly random attacks on her and Daniel is concerned.

So like I said I enjoyed this one but...
There’s a lot going on here, maybe too much for the length of the novella. I know I moan if books are stretched out. But I wanted more here. Still I’m looking forward to the next one.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley.

Computer security expert Kathryn Irish can't believe her latest job is in one of her ex-boyfriend Daniel MacArthur's buildings, and of course she runs into him in the lobby because that's not at all embarrassing. Billionaire with no known occupation (okay there might have been but I can't recall how he earned his billions) Daniel doesn't know what went wrong between him and Kathryn but now they've been thrown together he's going to do everything in his power to keep her in his life.

I started this novella totally enthralled by the STEM heroine with a job to do, totally professional and living her best life. Daniel was also a great hero, okay he ticks a lot of obvious romance cliches but hey it's a romance. Unfortunately for me the novella started to go downhill about the halfway mark. First. there was the obligatory love scene which went on and on, or maybe they just did it several times with no plot advancement in between. Even worse, I felt that I had read that same scene, using the same words, in several other Katie Reus novels. Then there was the totally obvious suspense element, it felt like it was thrown in at the last minute and Katie Reus didn't really commit to it, blink and you missed it (if only the same were true of the love scenes - sorry for the mealy-mouthed review but otherwise B&N makes me use asterisks to get reviews through their sensitive censors).

Full-disclosure, I am not a great fan of Katie Reus' contemporary works, what works well in PNR, which is a bit of an OTT genre, does not translate well (for me) in contemporary romance or romantic suspense. So, you are right, I shouldn't have requested the ARC, I know, but I always hope that one day she'll get it right for me.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Bumped for release and to correct spelling mistake.

Falling for Irish is the first novella in the new MacArthur Family series by Katie Reus. It features a second chance romance between Kathryn Irish and Daniel MacArthur.

They dated a few months and then a big misunderstanding broke them up and they’ve not seen each other for two months. Until Kathryn is working a security job at one of Daniel’s buildings.

Kathryn works as a freelance security tech. She tests companies’ security systems and tells them where they have issues. Her current job has her testing a system within her ex’s company. Her hope was to get in and get out without running into him. But come on it wouldn’t be much of a story if that happened.

After they run into each other they both realize they are not over the other one. They give it another go, working through the issue that separated them while also dealing with some weird coincides where Kathryn has been mugged and jumped by a guy in a mask outside her condo. Then there’s another safety issue dealing with Daniel.

Falling for Irish was a quick and sexy read and romance lovers of second chances will enjoy the story Katie Reus has put together. While it’s a novella it packed the punch of a full-length novella. I look for to read the other three novellas in the MacArthur Family series, which surely features Daniel’s sister, Sienna (and maybe Kathryn’s brother Carson), and his brother Brodie. Maybe we’ll find out how he spent his vacation?

This was a quick and easy novella, but honestly, I can't believe I came into this thinking - due to a Tiktok - that I was going to be mad at the guy for messing up when in actuality homegirl really broke up with him over a sticky note that she didn't even confront him about/confirm was about her.

Like Kathryn, are you 20-something or twelve? 🙄

What a CUTE novella! I don't know why I went in with low expectations but GOSH DANG! I was literally buzzing with excitement after the first page because I LOVE how it started.

Then she glanced over her shoulder and froze for all of a second before turning back around. Oh, God!
"Kathryn." That deep voice was nearly too much for her to handle.

description

Our heroine was pretty dang cool. Why?
1) Her name is Kathryn. ...My name is Catherine. You can't NOT be cool with that name.
2) She's a HACKER! She really goes undercover to hack into security systems. Like a freakin bo$$

description

The suspense part was "eh" because.. come on, we all knew who it was from the very beginning. HOWEVER, it was light and cute and such a fun read so who cares.

description

I'm so excited for the next books in this short series because, while reading, you know exactly who will star in the next one . . .

REVIEW: FALLING FOR IRISH is the first novella in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult MACARTHUR FAMILY erotic, romance series focusing on the MacArthur siblings. This is businessman Daniel MacArthur, and IT specialist Kathryn Irish’ story line.

Told from three third person perspectives including Daniel and Kathryn FALLING FOR IRISH follows the second chance romance between businessman Daniel MacArthur, and IT specialist Kathryn Irish. Two months earlier Kathryn Irish ended her relationship with Daniel MacArthur leaving a heart broken Daniel wondering where it all went wrong. Fast forward to present day wherein Kathryn found herself working in Daniel’s building bringing our heroine up close and personal with the man she couldn’t forget. Unable to stay away, Daniel begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine but not before Kathryn is targeted by an unknown assailant. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Kathryn and Daniel, and the potential fall-out as our couple are pulled into a deadly game of cat and mouse.

The relationship between Kathryn and Daniel is one of second chances. Kathryn was blindsided months earlier, and in the ensuing time, Daniel struggled to move on from the past. Kathryn, unable to forgive Daniel for sins of the past, must come to terms with what was, what is, and what might never be. Daniel, for all intents and purposes, has no idea what happened or why but our hero is determined to prove he is worthy of Kathryn’s love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Daniel’s siblings Sienna and Brodie, and his assistant Nicole’s, as well as Kathryn’s brother Carson, and her business partner Quincy.

FALLING FOR IRISH is a quick read; a fast paced, captivating and suspense filled story of second chances, betrayal and love. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and charismatic.

A quick second chances romance that left me with a smile.

This novella begins with a hacking. Kathryn Irish has been hired to find the weak spots in a company’s computer security, and she’s very good at what she does. She goes into the building undercover, and runs into the her ex.

Daniel takes one look at her and he wants her back. He has no idea why she broke up with him two months ago, but he’s known since he met her that she’s it for him. And here she is right in front of him and he plans on fighting for her. In fact I think this book should be called Fighting for Irish because he’s 100% on board with fighting for her.

She’s really unsure though, after all, the reason she broke up with him is that she saw a file he had on her and the post it note on top said (in his handwriting) Gold Digger underlined three times. He finally gets her to tell him why she left him and he’s floored. That was not his file and he did not write that note. Meanwhile, she’s been mugged, attacked, and now her ex is back in her life. What can she believe?

She gives him another chance, and the two of them are so good together. This is a cute and sexy Romantic Suspense. I don’t typically put cute and Romantic Suspense together, but it works here. Katie Reus’ stories are always sexy and well-written and this one adds in cute and fun. I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Falling for Irish is book 1 in MacArthur Family series by Katie Reus. This is a novella which is a romantic there's some suspense in this short novella read. It's short, hot and second chance romance novella. We are introduced to Kathryn and Daniel's story. They were happy but something occurred which caused a huge misunderstanding and separation. Then they happened to see each other 2 months after their huge break-up. Oh yes... can this alpha male repair his broken relationship, win back the love of life and save her life? Will she even want him back? This novella is steamy, sizzling, entertaining, intense and has their past, present and ready to give the future HEA. I can't wait for Daniel's siblings- Sienna and Brodie- books.

What a cute but fast paced novella. We have ex lovers that are meeting again and the heroine going to work on a project for him. The old flames are starting to burn again, but there are few coincidences that don't ad up...someone stole her purse and after two weeks man attacks her... The base of the story is interesting, it is easy to read it and it kept my attention until the end. I was sorry that it was short and the story didn't had a chance to develop slow. All in all it was a cute read, perfect for coffee break.

Falling for Irish is an enjoyable, fast-paced novella. That wonderfully introduces Daniel MacArthur and his siblings Sienna and Brodie. And with just the right amount of heat, sweetness and romance between main characters Daniel and Kathryn, and a sprinkling of suspense this really was an engaging read. Check out the MacArthur Family series if you’re in the mood for quick, light romantic suspense reads!

She walked away once.

When Kathryn Irish realized that she and Daniel were too different—and that he thought she was after him for his money—she ended things. When a job randomly puts her back on his radar, they hesitantly form a truce. But deep down she knows she can never be just friends with him. She’ll always want more.

He never should have let her go.

Daniel MacArthur knows he made the biggest mistake of his life in letting Kathryn walk away. When she suddenly appears back in his life, it’s not a moment too soon—since she’s been targeted twice by a faceless enemy. She thinks the two attacks are random. But he’s not so sure. Is it because of her job? Or is something more sinister at play?

Length: NOVELLA

𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄

Will they be able to rekindle their relationship when they had been once burned ...

I know the author for her paranormal romances, so this contemporary novella was a nice surprise.

If you are looking for a fast paced with the just dose of action and steam story, this one check all the cases.
Kathryn and Daniel have a past, and still stigmas from their recent breakup.
But they are level headed adults, so when they meet again, they talk and try to clear the path to maybe get a second chance.
Daniel never was able to get past his rupture with Kathryn, so seing her again is like a message to try again and correct what he failed the first time.
Kathryn instigated their separation, yet now they talk again, was she to harsh to jump to conclusion. Would her family’s history misled her to too quick assumptions.

An entertaining short story perfect for a late afternoon read.

2.5 ⭐️
I have so many Katie Reus books on my Kindle because they have so much of what I love: the heroes are utterly devoted to the heroines, there’s quality steam, & the engaging storylines have plenty of thrills. Unfortunately, I just didn’t warm to this novella.

In Falling for Irish Kathryn appears at her ex Daniel’s work building so she can pretend to be a potential client of a wedding planner working out of his building. In actuality, she plans on hacking into his network to assess its security, a contract job she was hired to do unbeknownst to Daniel.

He just sees her with a ring on her finger, months after she dumped him for no apparent reason, & he’s doubly upset—though in a stoic way ;).

So he wants to convince her to give them another shot. Part of her wants that too, although she's also still angry about the reason why she broke things off.

There’s also the matter of recent attacks against her.

There’s so much happening in this novella and the plot often feels rushed. I don't understand why some plot points are even necessary.

In the end I enjoy Daniel’s clear strong feelings for Kathryn, her STEM job & confidence, & the heat, but unfortunately this novella just doesn't feel tight enough to me.

Falling for Irish is out on 02/23.

3 stars, for a super quick novella this was fine. Novellas are hard to get right because you have to squeeze a fully developed story into a shorter page count and this one didn't totally work for me.

I found the set up weird because we're dropped into the story after the characters have been broken up for 2 months and they had only been dating for 3 months before that.
*Spoilers* Pre-break up they were essentially living together, he was planning to propose and already bought a ring, but when she broke up with him he didn't go to extreme lengths to really figure out why and she didn't tell him the real reason which she acknowledges later was dumb.
So it was very insta-love which I can be on board with, but I didn't believe in their love because we didn't see the build up we were just told how they felt about each other.

I spent the beginning of this book just confused about why they broke up, what the hell was going on, etc. The plot was trying to be very mysterious with hidden enemies, but it was pretty obvious to me who the big bad was.

Idk like I said this was fine for a quick read, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I just picked it up to because a novella was the perfect length to read today before a new release I'd been waiting for came out at midnight😅

One new series and TWO new families to fall in love with!!

Daniel still doesn't quite know what went wrong between him and Kathryn. One minute they were hot, heavy and heading for HEA and then **poof** she was gone. But a chance meeting in one of his buildings means he has a chance to find out what went wrong and fix it.

Kathryn loved, heck still loves Daniel, but when she saw a note referring to her in "gold digger" terms she knew it was over between them. Her business is going strength to strength but someone seems to have it in for her. Daniel steps in and they manage to reignite their romance. But will it blaze on or be snuffed out once more?

Kathryn is a white hat HACKER - she uses her skills for good. Daniel may be a rich guy but he's also a NICE guy. The baddie kinda became clear as soon as I met them for the first time but that didn't sap any enjoyment from the novella for me. There are plenty of relatives on both sides to keep the series going for a while so I'm a very happy camper all round!

Falling for Irish is the first book a new series. It's an engaging novella that was fast-paced and chock full of setup detail. It contains lovable characters and tosses in a little mystery.

Kathryn and Daniel had broken up a few months prior. It was a sudden and confusing breakup. They are both still nursing feelings for the other and haven't been able to move on. Life events toss them back together, so to speak. To complicate things, Kathryn appears to have angered someone and is in the crosshairs of danger. All of this blends together with Daniel and Kathryn's story to create a strong and quick to read novella. In addition, the reader is briefly introduced to some of the other family members who will no doubt make appearances in the future books. There is a lot to look forward to with The MacArthur Family series.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
