I've nearly come to end of forty days of devotional readings on Celtic Saints. This is the second series of David Cole's books that I have done. This and the Lent series. Both were very good. This book has given me a better appreciation of the saints that I had previously. The structure of this book is that there are 40 days which focus upon a particular Celtic saint. Each day you are given a short (in some ways too short) description of a particular saints life and then there is a time of meditation where you spend time with the Lord to reflect upon the life of the saint and how to apply it to your own life. After this there is a short piece of scripture to anchor what you are learned from the saints life, followed by a blessing. I found this 40 days of devotional very helfpul and constructive. Overall it was a very interesting 40 days and I'm glad that I went through it. There are a number of saints that I wish to revisit and apply some of their teaching and way of life to my own. I suppose that it one of the aims of the book. I shall pick up the Advent 40 day series nearer the time.
