Forever Burn
Tatum Everley is a freshman at Western Michigan University. Due to an emotionally and psychologically abusive past relationship, Tate struggles from Complex-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has been working on controlling her symptoms and flashbacks, but when she meets Axel Burne at a fraternity party, who is notorious for sleeping around and getting into fights, she tries her best to dodge the bullet. Axel starts to become intrigued by Tate, but she’s better off choosing Lucas— the sweet guy who has been trying to take her out since orientation. But even though Lucas is the better option, Axel keeps reappearing. Tate continues to try to stay away from him, but it starts becoming harder to, and as she gets closer to him, things start to get way out of hand. If Tate wants her happy ending and her sanity intact, then she has to push through the hardships and maintain control over her disorder.

I will admit it took me a few chapters to really get invested in this book but after those first few chapters I flew through the book. I also have to thank this author for pulling me out of the reading slump I’ve been in recently.This book is amazingly paced and I loved the characters and how they were portrayed through the course of the book.
The book follows Tatum Everley in her freshman year of college at Western Michigan University. Tate suffers from Complex PTSD as a result of a toxic relationship with the most emotionally abusive man in the world a few years ago. Now with her wonderful group of friends, Tate tries to move on with her life but is faced with Axel Burne, the campus playboy who doesn't ever want a serious relationship. When Axel seems to show an interest in her Tate knows she can’t act on her own attraction to him for the sake of her mental health.
What I loved about this book was that while utilizing the trope of the popular boy who doesn’t do relationships it deals with so many more ideas with equal time in the spotlight. And rather than just focusing on the girl and the boy sizing each other up it also highlights the relationship between friends and between family.
Trinity Lemm tries to showcase the difference between a toxic relationship and healthy one so that even her younger readers will see that not all that is put out to be the ideal relationship is healthy. She does this by using not only her protagonist’s trauma filled past but also through the protagonist's friends and those around her.
Another thing I liked about this book is that college settings filled with partying and romance usually showcase girls being horrible to their ‘friends’ but this book shows the protagonist having great friends who try to support her through all her troubles and making up very quickly even when minor misunderstandings take place as true friends always do. It's not unrealistic either with everyone being sweethearts, the author shows her audience boys and girls being those terrible stereotypes too, and grounds her book in reality.
Axel’s character isn’t ignored either. We see a lot of his own problems and his past even as the author maintains the first person view from only Tate's perspective. His relationship with his siblings is very well displayed along with his own character. But no one is perfect and we see his mistakes too.
A lot of people would have expected a character with C-PTSD to be portrayed as an introverted girl who locks herself up in a room and doesn’t talk to anyone while having no friends or a support system. It’s wonderful that the author portrays her protagonist as a girl who loves dressing up and goes partying regularly with her wonderful friends, has an amazing relationship with her three sisters while also dealing with flashbacks and needs moments of alone time.
This book is fairly young adult with bits of new adult in there and is written well. The story moves quickly and doesn’t drag on about misunderstandings unnecessarily. The setting is great because you don't see the typical college contemporary books deal with so many problems at once. While i wouldn’t say this book is your typical light hearted contemporary I wouldn’t say it’s a very heavy book that needs you to be emotionally available either. This book finds a wonderful middle ground and is very easy to read.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover a very well written book, beyond the very serious subject treated in this book and the maturity with which the author looks at student life, the love story between the two beautiful and problematic young people conquered me from the beginning.
For a 19-year-old girl, Trinity has a huge maturity and potential. I really didn't expect such a well-connected book.
I liked from the beginning, throughout the two, the secondary characters, the plot and especially the ending. Many will say that there are no boys / men like Axel Burne, I have such a specimen at home so I know what it's like to be the center of the universe for someone.

The best thing about this one were the song drops. Every time a song was mentioned, I would stop reading to listen to the specific song, and that helped set the mood for the scene. I loved that. I also liked that there were many characters and it wasn't solely about Axel and Tatum.
I obviously didn't care for the mistakes made and how fast she was to let it go. I'm all about forgiveness, but I'm also about self respect and standing your ground. Forgive, and MOVE ON, don't stick around and let it happen again...
Also, it was hard for me to get on board with her not wanting to be with one guy, because he was interested in an actual relationship with her, and she was attracted to the "player" who wouldn't have feelings for her. I'm not saying everyone wants to be in a fully committed relationship, but I do think everyone honestly wants to be loved and cherished, so it was hard for me to get over her shunning the original good guy who put forth effort with her, for the bad guy. I also felt the whole thing at the end was a little overboard and a bit much. I mean, I get that it was bad, but our "hero" was bad multiple times and well, I don't know, I just wasn't feeling him.
Unfortunately, I also think this was an appropriate representation of the college scene. It was a little immature and overly dramatic, plus the drinking and partying every single weekend, and the whole pregame ritual were a bit much for me, but I'm also older and past that stage in life, so I understand the draw it might have on younger generations, yet it deterred from the story for me personally since I don't think being able to down 4 shots in a row is something to boast about or call a skill. But again, I was young once and remember the appeal back then.
All in all, I'm glad I checked this one out and think the author did a good job overall. Thank you for the opportunity to read your work.

This debut novel is very promising. I am surprise it is written by 19 years old. She provides a deep insight of growing up in a light of PTSD. The idea of the story is also good.
With that being said, what is packing is the chemistry between Tate and Axel. I also want to see more of Axel's character development. Mainly the POV is from Tate. There are many secondary characters in this book. Secondary characters should be able to support the develpment of the main characters and the plot. In this book, it is lacking.
I want to say, despite the shortcoming, I see many potential for Miss Lemm to develop her talent as a writer.

First of all, I got this book from Trinity herself, so I would like to thank her with all my heart for it! It was a pleasure to read something thinking about every single thing I would like to comment on, so here it is.
I can definitely see my younger self reading this whole book in one sitting. Trinity's style of writing is quite enjoyable and I see it on at least the same level as Gayle Foreman or Anna Todd, but if she actually cared for not continuing the stigma of a bad boy with shitty past, who it angsty towards everyone, including his love interest.
Well, we still get Axel, who is our main white boy of the week, player and heartbreaker, becaue of course he is! Oh yes, and he's covered with tattoos, because why wouldn't he be? I don't want to compare him to Hardin Scott, but he has curly hair, plays the guitar (he even plays a One Direction song once, which was extremely funny, I have to admit) and the setting reminds me of After so much. Yeah, I totaly see him as Harry Styles in my mind, guilty as charged.
Anyway, our main white boy has a twist to his name, because for once he actually cares about a girl he just met and wants to protect her rather than bang her and I have to be honest, I don't really see why. I mean it's cool and all, but Tatum is just another girl. Playing hard to get, but after all, just a girl, so for the most part I really had serious trouble understanding his motives. I know that after all it turns out to be a bet he had with his brother (AFTER, ANYONE?), but why her and not someone else?
Okay, I mentioned Tatum now, so let's talk about her. I liked her for the first few chapters or so, but then she got weirdly annoying to me and I am not 100% sure why. One thing to know about Tatum is that she suffers from C-PTSD, which is basically an emotional PTSD, so she still has her triggers and sometimes experiences panic attacks when put in certain situations. I get that, we all have our demons and I do appreciate how Trinity fought to portray her disorder respectfully, but I do have some problems with it too.
Biggest one being the fact that it was a big contrast compared to the personality she was also trying to "play". On one hand, we get a sassy girl, who is crazy on the dance floor and wants to partake in drinking contests, but then on the other hand, as soon as a guy, who is not a Harry Styles type, asks her out, she leads him on, never really saying no. And if she was treating him like her boy toy, I would get that, I really would, but they never even kiss, for god's sake. As soon as confronted with someone, who is more sexually outgoing, she shuts up and doesn't know what to say. Considering Tatum's disorder I can somewhat understand her behaviour when it comes to guys, but the girls? I just don't find it believable, I'm sorry.
I like to talk about the main characters, because to be honest, those two are the ones making the story and all the side characters are quite forgettable due to their over powered loyalty to the main characters, but let's focus on what happens apart from Tatum and Hardi-I mean Axel's drama. I've got to admit, I liked how unpredictable the book was due to the author really making this typical college story her own. It was cute and wholesome at times, especially if you like the lovey-dovey stuff.
I liked the fact that Lukas turned out to be more of a villian than we thought he would be, that gave the story a bit of a twist, but I didn't like anyone's reactions to the whole situation. I thought that perhaps it could have been milked more to the point of making him a bigger threat not only to Tatum, but also Axel and their relationship, as well as her mental illness. That is not to say that I like to watch people suffer, but in this particular case when Lukas was just another predator type trying to take advantage over someone clearly not interested in him, it was overlooked by everyone. Yes, he almost got beaten to death, but really, it felt like something way bigger could have happened in order for the story not to feel like it was too careful in everything it portrayed.
Unfortunately the end of the book felt rushed with Tatum getting her closure with Connor and imagining herself in a white dress while at Amberly's wedding, all in 10 pages. It was a light, enjoyable read, but when it comes to contemporary I usually go for books focusing on something bigger in their premise and I am afraid that, all things considered, there wasn't enough spice and action. However, I can see a lot of potential there. This story was safe and that is perfectly fine if that's what you want to go for and be sure that you finish the book after everyone got their happy ending. I can say with certainty that as soon as Trinity publishes her next book, I will be there.

4.25 So Stubborn Stars!
Wow....okay, this is a lot. This story had a lot going on and there were many obstacles to overcome AND MAYBE there were too many for one book. Then again, young love does tend to have many obstacles because they are not as mature and often there are a lot of battles to deal with in order to build a healthy relationship.
I was a little concerned with the first major hurdle and felt the person that was wronged didn't hold out long enough.......I personally would have expected more begging. LOL
Then something similar happened again and at that point I was pretty mad and questioned going on but decided that this was how real life was so I should continue and I am VERY GLAD I did. I loved how the story played out and I think the author especially being new did a really good job. The story kept my interest from the very beginning and had many feels going on throughout it. My emotions were all over the place as far as happy, sad, mad and euphoric.
I know some folks will have a hard time with it since it does have some triggers but to me it just seemed more like real life.
I should have mentioned this in my review before. Even with all his faults Axel is patient and lovely!!

I echo several other reviewers' astonishment that this book was written by a nineteen year old author. Well done! My four star rating is a form of applause: for her courage, her stamina and her accomplishment. How many teens do you know who are capable of writing and self-publishing a novel? Fans of Anna Todd would love this book.
Although I normally don't like series, I think that this novel would have benefited from being a series of novellas. There was so much happening and quite a few characters to keep track of. The pdf version of the book that was sent to me is 341 pages long. I also agree with another reviewer that character development for Axel needed a bit of work, but I can just imagine how much stronger this author's next book will be.
I highly encourage this young author to continue to study grammar and take specialized writing courses. She obviously has been bitten by the writing bug, but she needs to tighten up a few things in her writer's toolkit. Mind you, I've seen the same grammar errors being made by bestselling authors - for example, the improper use of the subjective case with prepositions such as between, about, over, etc. Proper usage: Between him and me, or Between us - never Between he and I. You would never say: "Between we" would you? Another common error: He is the same height (or age) as me. Correct usage: He is the same height (or age) as I am. You can omit the "am" at the end, but it sounds better if you keep it in there. There were also some descriptive words that didn't jive, so the author needs to be more careful in the choice of her descriptors. Otherwise, I was impressed by the author's stamina. I rate this a 3.7 out of 5, bumped up to a 4 as a token of encouragement.

"I was beating the C-PTSD that had been drilled inside of me. I was controlling it instead of letting it control me."
I absolutely loved the theme of this book.
Okay, first of all, let me start off by thanking Trinity for giving me the opprtunity to read such a great novel.
The story is about Tatum Everly and her struggle to overcome her C-PTSD symptoms while trying to live a normal college life. I love that she puts herself out there, even with all the trauma she went through.
Not being from the US myself, I always like reading about college life since I never got to experience it. I liked how Tatum and her friends partied responsably and took care of each other. Tatum meets Axel at a frat party and he is intrigued by her. Axel is known to sleep around and not get tied down by relationships. Part of the conflict in this novel comes from his own struggles to stay faithful to Tatum.
Loved that the author portrayed a healthy relationship between the two. It isn't perfect, but they both try to make it work.
The book is fast paced with no dull moments. I like that we get to experience the struggles of her friends also and that the spotlight isn't solely on Tatum and Axel.
I give this one 4.5 stars. I am going to be on the lookout for her next book and I highly recommend you give this one a try if you want to read a book that outlines the importance of a healthy relationship versus a toxic one.

Not being from the US myself, I always like reading about college life since I never got to experience it. I liked how Tatum and her friends partied responsably and took care of each other. Tatum meets Axel at a frat party and he is intrigued by her. Axel is known to sleep around and not get tied down by relationships. Part of the conflict in this novel comes from his own struggles to stay faithful to Tatum.
Loved that the author portrayed a healthy relationship between the two. It isn't perfect, but they both try to make it work.
The book is fast paced with no dull moments. I like that we get to experience the struggles of her friends also and that the spotlight isn't solely on Tatum and Axel.
I give this one 4.5 stars. I am going to be on the lookout for her next book and I highly recommend you give this one a try if you want to read a book that outlines the importance of a healthy relationship versus a toxic one.

And now, about the book: “Forever burn” is a romance book which follows the beginning of a love story that has ups and downs, between Tate (Tatum) the female main character and Axe (Axel) the male main character.
Both of them have their fair share of problems from the past, but together they learn to be there for each other in order to conquer their fears and in order to learn how to trust.
When I first started reading this book, I felt like it was a perfect fit for me. Books about college/university students are my favorites! I don’t know what it’s about them, but they always win me over. And as you can imagine Tate and Axe are exactly from this category!
And it all starts with a party! Which I also love: when characters dance with each other, always give me a good vibe and this book didn’t disappoint. Axel and Tate’s first dance was the trigger for me. From that moment on... I knew I would love this book. And I was right!
I did love it! And Tate’s dirty mouth was one of the funniest and most enjoyable things about this book. I love it when the language is dirty in a book. If you want to swear, just do it. If you want to raise your middle finger to a nasty bitch, just do it! If you want to curse your manipulative ex boyfriend, go ahead! You have my full support! 😂 I feel like I might got you confused, the only answer for this is: read the book to know what I’m talking about.

But this is not the only reason why you should read it. You should read it because you will get to see 2 people transform their behavior and also, connect with each other when there are a lot of impediments on the way. Trust me, this book will keep you curious from the beginning until the end. And, for the record, I don’t think that the end was rushed. It ended just how it was supposed to. 😁
In conclusion, I’m really happy that I read the book. It was one of the best romance books I’ve read this year. Even tho :)) at some point I was very angry. But this is good. When a book makes you feel, this means that it was very well written. Not many books have the power to ignite the mind and the reader’s feelings. 👍

What a very beautiful Story. There was so many emotions running through my head. I was asked to read this book and give an honest review. There was sadness and happiness . Tate has a past that has caused her pain and sadness. Because of her past its hard for her to trust anyone. While attending a frat party at college she see a guy staring at her. His name is Axel .She's very uncomfortable. This is their story. They go through a lot of heartbreak and pain. I loved this book and I hope I will be asked again to read this authors books. I went through a rollercoaster of emotions , from angst , sadness for what happened to Tatum to happiness and relief because of all the support and love from her friends .
I loved how, after what she went through ,she was able to create her own happy ending .
Axel was everything she was waiting for, loving, caring and strong. they went through some ups and down but in the end it was all worth it because

It was a very very nice contemporary romance. Kinda clichè, but then, don't we all love clichès? But at the same time, it was not so clichè either. I enjoyed every single page of it, there wasn't one page where I thought that it was boring or the page where I wanted to put the book down.
But then, romance novels do a thing to me and I just can't put them down. And I have to say, this one was one of those kinds that make you want to READ everything SO FAST because the curiosity is KILLING you. One hell of a story, really.
The relationship between Axe and Tate wasn't toxic or full of fights, the typical relationship we usually see in most of the contemporary romance novels. No, this relationship is the kind of relationship that you'd want to have in real life, the kind that'll make you believe that it does exist in real life, not just in books and movies. It's realistic, I can tell that with 100% guaranty because I've been in that kind of relationship that makes you just smile and smile the whole day, the kind of guy that respects you and your choices of what you want to wear or how you want to behave.
Axel Burne... He is a sweetheart that every single girl would dream to have in their lives. A territorial and protective guy, but giving his girl all the space she needs. He doesn't just order her around or throws his decisions on her. Tatum, she always has a choice. Even in hard times, even if it killed Axe, he respected what she wanted. And I loved that the most.
Tatum Everly. I liked her. Well, as much as I can like contemporary female protagonists. Not a bad thing, really, but I've so used to read badass and alpha female protagonists that these contemporary girls seem a little 'week'. But in any case, Tatum is very strong. To have overcomes C-PTSD... it's remarkable. I really like her. That's saying something because as I said before, I kinda find contemporary girls 'annoying'. Tatum may have complained about somethings, but it wasn't reasonable. It wasn't without a reason. And the best thing about her? Her being a bitch, or rather, her acting like a bitch that she wasn't. A facade anyone would fall for, but it was a sight to read every time she was being bitchy.
It was a very interesting story. And very realistic. Very interesting plot, and WORTH MY TIME. You guys, please do read it. It's worth a shot. I would soo recommend it! GO GET YOUR COPIES YOU CONTEMPORARY LOVERS!!!

Lemm has written a beautiful story about some college friends who meet and go through all kinds of trials and tribulations as their year progresses. Tate (Tatum Everley) has a past from several years prior of suffering from an emotionally abusive relationship that leaves her dealing with residual Complex-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and she has to learn to move on with her new life attending Western Michigan University while dealing with it. She meets Axe (Axel Burne) from Alpha Tau Alpha (ATA) who is known as a college playboy and troublemaker who gets into fights. She has been warned by her friends to stay away from him but eventually she gets drawn to him against better judgement. She finds out that Axe wants to change his old ways because for the first time ever he has actually fallen in love. Can Tate trust him after what has happened in her past? She has a hard time dealing with her C-PTSD and her new possible relationship. He treats her wonderful and like a princess. He also understands her C-PTSD triggers and relapses and is the only person she knows that can snap her out of them. He makes her feel safe when she is with him.Tate also has some close friends that she goes to school with that all know each other very well. They all support each other and are there for each other when something happens to any of them, either good or bad. I love that you get to know all of the characters in this book and it makes it a fun read that you don't want to put down. They all go through lots of twists and turns as the storyline progresses and you feel a range of emotions from being on edge, to happy, sad, scared, mad, then ecstatic happiness, and then you are just so happy you read this book kind of warm fuzzies. Lol. I look forward to more books by Trinity Lemm. I give this book 4.5 stars, and I recommend it! ♡

First of all, thank you Trinity for introducing me to this amazing story, I’m sure that my younger self would tremendously enjoy it.
Stories about two broken people healing together always intrigue me. Despite the similarities it has with some other books (I couldn’t help but to notice), I feel like this story was done very well. Big respect to the author for handling serious themes so well. I loved the heroine, loved that she was realistic and rational girl- something we rarely see in adolescent books like this one.
Considering that this is this author’s first novel, I think she absolutely rocked. I enjoyed the story, loved the characters (especially Gi!) and all the little things.
With that being said, here are some moments that didn’t sit well with me at all (because I’m picky like that). I’m not big on words, so I will cut this short.
I read this book weeks ago and I waited and waited for the story to sink in, for something to change my mind, I don’t know. Maybe I’m somehow wrong, but there are things Axel did that I just couldn’t ignore.
-first, buying her expensive things. Look, I get it, boy cares, but this isn’t the only way he can show it, we know he has money. When authors include things like this it makes me so uncomfortable. It was unnecessary and the book could’ve survived without it.
-next, sleeping with other people. TWICE. Really buddy?
At first I thought that this was author’s way of showing us that nobody’s perfect, but I’m not sure. My understanding didn't fit in this story. Everyone has their outlet, I just wish this wasn’t his. The first time they weren’t official, so I suppose that I can look past it. The second time it happened I was so freaking pissed! And after that, when they talked, it looked to me like Axel was purposefully making Tate feel guilty with his excuses for cheating so she would forgive him. I didn’t like it. At all. But I read this book almost month ago, so it isn't really fresh in my mind. I could be wrong.
-pregnancy scare. I honestly have no idea how Tate put up with all that. Considering her past trauma I expected her to dump his ass and never trust him again after that first cheating scene. I know Axel has his own issues, but I wish he would take more responsibility for his actions, and for fuck’s sake, think about what he’s doing. He finally gained Tate’s trust then he threw it all away.
After all, I get it, nobody’s perfect and I’m glad this book didn’t give us ‘usual’ fairytale and included some realistic painful moments. I hope the author releases more books in the future, I really like her work.

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was so addicting and I could not put it down! I love every second reading Forever Burn!
Honestly I had no idea what to expect going into this because I didn’t read the synopsis (I don’t really like reading them.) I think the cover was kinda deceiving, don’t judge a book by its cover, right😉 And so I don’t know exactly what I was expecting from the cover, I expected it to be good, but not this, if that makes any sense😅
Tatum and Axel were just so perfect together and for each other. They both helped the other get through some pretty serious stuff and changed one another for the better! Seeing Tate grow throughout this novel was so inspiring. She went through so much emotional abuse, but she came out of it stronger. I loved how though Axel was a big part of her beginning to heal, but she also healed herself and was strong constantly. How she stood up for herself at the end was so incredible!
So, this book reminded me a bit of After, but 1,000 times better. The writing was so much better, the storyline felt less repetitive, and the characters were much deeper, but it gave me some of the same vibes. If you like strong characters and a healing storyline, a super sweet couple with a “big-strong” man who’s truly a softie, and a slow burn that doesn’t drag on too long and is super rewarding, look no further, Forever Burn is the book for you!

Forever Burn was a romantic story about a heroine struggling with C-PTSD, leaving an abusive relationship, and allowing herself to love again.
Tatum was a likable main character for the most part. It was nice reading about someone struggling with a mental illness. I appreciated the author highlighting her struggles and showing that she was still strong and independent despite everything.
Axel was a typical love interest in my opinion. He was portrayed as that “ bad boy who has a reputation” although he actually turned out to be very kind and loving. Honestly I was slightly confused why he fell so hard for Tatum and changed his whole life for her but I guess sometimes you just know the one.
Although some of the themes were a bit cliche, I did enjoy this story. There was a lot of telling vs showing that became a bit repetitive, but it wasn’t enough to take me out of the book. I was curious to see what would happen with Axel and Tatum and I stuck with them through all their ups and downs.
This was a good debut novel, and I would definitely read another book by this author.

This book is trying so hard to be Beautiful Disaster
When this book started, I honestly liked it. Some stuff was annoying or boring, but I could skim past it and get to the drama. I love it when the guy falls hard and this was definitely a case of bad boy simp, which is excellent.
My problem with this was that the writing read like Wattpad. Now listen, I LOVE some trashy romance with bad writing. Having fancy words isn't necessary for me, but if you mention Axel's dimples or "emeralds" (eyes) one more time, I'm gonna throw a fit. Also, this book was not at all insightful or thoughtful or anything. If anything, the abuse/assault/C-PTSD was misused as a mere plot point/conflict rather than handled with the nuance and depth of these situations.
But like I said, middle-school words don't bug me as much as lazy and careless writing. Having a plot just for the sake of it... yeah, no.
From the very early chapters, we find out Tate's entire backstory in one chapter read out to us like a biography. There's no build-up or subtelety or nuance. Even when Axel ends up finding out, that whole scene is skipped over. Now the problem isn't that it was skipped (because it's understandable that readers don't want to read the same story twice) but that it was such an unimportant subplot that there was no proper attention given to its role in the main romance.
You might argue that Tate's reluctance was a result of her backstory, but that wasn't shown to us. Every single time Tate needed a reason to say no she was like "well i would but you know... my CPTSD just won't let me." Which isn't a developed way of showing how her CPTSD is interfering with her life. It's just filling in blanks, not telling a story. When she DOES finally choose Axel, it's not because she's gone through some event that allows her to overcome her trauma or because there's a realistic in-between step (therapy, intervention, etc) but just because she's like "huh i guess i kinda like him so might as well try" WHICH SHES BEEN FEELING ALL ALONG.
The plot was such a mess too, because it was just repeating the same exact plot points over and over and over again.
1) Lucas asks her out ten times and gets rejected.
2) They all go out partying fifty times (and get ready and all this stuff, but nothing ever really happens to develop the plot at 90% of these parties).
3) Axel takes her out somewhere and pays. Wow.
4) I would say she gets a flashback/reminder of her CPTSD but that happens so intermittently and with no natural cause-and-effect flow to things.
5) Girls like Axel.
ALSO wtf was up with all these girls being such bitches? Honestly, it was like every character was out to get the MC except the main ones. Like, why was everyone evil? You wanna know why? Bc there was literally no plot so girl x girl animosity and slut-shaming was a "great" filler.
I SWEAR TO GOD YALL IF I READ ONE MORE FUCKING BOOK WHERE . AND NOT ONLY IS THERE *THAT* WHICH, AXEL, YOURE AN ASS, BUT SHE GETS OVER IT SO QUICKLY. ONLY TO GO BACK TO HIM AND SEE THAT HE
AND ALSO. This whole book, ive been waiting for this motherfucker connor to show up and we have a final confrontation but
Then they had all these little quirky things like chocolate chip pancakes but FUCKING HELL AFTER THE FIFTIETH TIME YOU MENTION IT, I WANT TO THROW MYSELF OFF A BRIDGE AND NOT BECAUSE IM DYING OF CUTENESS. Some stuff is too gooey and too repetitive. Those soft, loveable, inside joke moments should be thoughtful and sweet, not random little things to fixate on for the whole book. People We Meet on Vacation did such a great job of this.
Remember what I said about writing? Well the middle school writing got more and more annoying the further in I got. I said I had low standards, but I still have standards—

I'll be honest, this book had potential and I might've liked it more if the author allowed herself to mature a little more before hitting publish or an editor/critique partner/beta reader/ANYONE told her to work on another draft. Like him being overprotective was cute, how obssessed with her he was... kindaa hotttt! SO MUCH POTENTIAL, I literally think just some more guidance would have really helped. But I guess some people still enjoyed it so im glad they did, honestly!
When this book started, I honestly liked it. Some stuff was annoying or boring, but I could skim past it and get to the drama. I love it when the guy falls hard and this was definitely a case of bad boy simp, which is excellent.
My problem with this was that the writing read like Wattpad. Now listen, I LOVE some trashy romance with bad writing. Having fancy words isn't necessary for me, but if you mention Axel's dimples or "emeralds" (eyes) one more time, I'm gonna throw a fit. Also, this book was not at all insightful or thoughtful or anything. If anything, the abuse/assault/C-PTSD was misused as a mere plot point/conflict rather than handled with the nuance and depth of these situations.
But like I said, middle-school words don't bug me as much as lazy and careless writing. Having a plot just for the sake of it... yeah, no.
From the very early chapters, we find out Tate's entire backstory in one chapter read out to us like a biography. There's no build-up or subtelety or nuance. Even when Axel ends up finding out, that whole scene is skipped over. Now the problem isn't that it was skipped (because it's understandable that readers don't want to read the same story twice) but that it was such an unimportant subplot that there was no proper attention given to its role in the main romance.
You might argue that Tate's reluctance was a result of her backstory, but that wasn't shown to us. Every single time Tate needed a reason to say no she was like "well i would but you know... my CPTSD just won't let me." Which isn't a developed way of showing how her CPTSD is interfering with her life. It's just filling in blanks, not telling a story. When she DOES finally choose Axel, it's not because she's gone through some event that allows her to overcome her trauma or because there's a realistic in-between step (therapy, intervention, etc) but just because she's like "huh i guess i kinda like him so might as well try" WHICH SHES BEEN FEELING ALL ALONG.
The plot was such a mess too, because it was just repeating the same exact plot points over and over and over again.
1) Lucas asks her out ten times and gets rejected.
2) They all go out partying fifty times (and get ready and all this stuff, but nothing ever really happens to develop the plot at 90% of these parties).
3) Axel takes her out somewhere and pays. Wow.
4) I would say she gets a flashback/reminder of her CPTSD but that happens so intermittently and with no natural cause-and-effect flow to things.
5) Girls like Axel.
ALSO wtf was up with all these girls being such bitches? Honestly, it was like every character was out to get the MC except the main ones. Like, why was everyone evil? You wanna know why? Bc there was literally no plot so girl x girl animosity and slut-shaming was a "great" filler.

Then they had all these little quirky things like chocolate chip pancakes but FUCKING HELL AFTER THE FIFTIETH TIME YOU MENTION IT, I WANT TO THROW MYSELF OFF A BRIDGE AND NOT BECAUSE IM DYING OF CUTENESS. Some stuff is too gooey and too repetitive. Those soft, loveable, inside joke moments should be thoughtful and sweet, not random little things to fixate on for the whole book. People We Meet on Vacation did such a great job of this.
Remember what I said about writing? Well the middle school writing got more and more annoying the further in I got. I said I had low standards, but I still have standards—
“When he opened the door, Claire, Gi, and Penelope fell into the room. “Were you guys listening through the door?” I asked.

“I was so right,” Claire said. “Those heels make your legs look stellar.”

Fuck those pancakes that "taste like love and hope" uhuh.
I'll be honest, this book had potential and I might've liked it more if the author allowed herself to mature a little more before hitting publish or an editor/critique partner/beta reader/ANYONE told her to work on another draft. Like him being overprotective was cute, how obssessed with her he was... kindaa hotttt! SO MUCH POTENTIAL, I literally think just some more guidance would have really helped. But I guess some people still enjoyed it so im glad they did, honestly!

First off, this being a debut novel from a 19 yr old author, I'm blown away! The story of a young woman (Tatum) living with C-PTSD and falling in love after living through four years of emotional abuse was wonderfully written.
College is hard enough but when you also have PTSD and have to be careful in certain situations as to not trigger flashbacks or panic attacks it makes it even harder though, for Tate, the more Axel is around the easier it is. His touch calms her, his presence help beat back the memories and as much as she doesn't want to be dependent on another guy she can't help falling for him.
I loved how persistent Axel was in his pursuit of Tate and how he called her out on her bitchiness. Though I was not fond of the way he took her, what he thought was rejection, rejection. BOTH times! Tates forgiveness was acceptable (maybe) the first time, but the second I wanted to throttle them both him for his F up and her for forging him. So I wanted to be really into this book but I just couldn't get into it.
So I do enjoy Trinity's style and I think that once she's got a few novels under her belt she will be amazing but I struggled to connect with this one a little.
I do like YA/NA books but I just found myself getting annoyed with the characters and I don't know why. I feel a little like some things were unnecessary and the things I wanted to be more important such as grovelling wasn't all that much of a thing. I am terribly petty and want it to feel like he would sacrifice his life for her forgiveness, but not playing hard to get! I also really hate this whole "he has a bad reputation" thing, like as a friend unless you actually know for a fact then don't judge a person!

I'm not the biggest fan of school romances anymore and but I really enjoyed this YA romance. This deals with some heavy topics but is done beautifully. I loved both Tatum and Axel as characters. I can't believe the author is so young. I can't wait to see what else she comes out with in the future!

This story is about Tatum who is attending University as a freshman. Our FMC suffers from complex-PTSD due to events from her past. Her goal for attending university is to try and have as much of a normal experience as she can. Axel is your typical college playboy. Loves to hook up with woman and the type of man that Tatum absolutely wants to stay away from.
I often find myself drawn to books where the FMC suffers from a tragic past. I like to see how the author uses the story to show us how our heroine overcomes her past in order to find love. I would categorize this book as a slow burn. I enjoyed the buildup between the two characters. You would think given Tatum’s past that she would be one of those woman who were more introverted when she got to university; however, that wasn’t the case. I enjoyed seeing that she had a good supportive group of friends. This book really shows readers what the difference between a healthy vs toxic relationship is.
The only thing that would have made it better for me is if there was more POV from Axel. I enjoy when romance stories show the perspective of the male character.

I loved this book, i loved the characters and story, they are so well written! the amount of emotions it brought up in me was overwhelming to me sometimes, anger, sadness, happiness, warmth, the feeling of betrayal, anxiety, sometimes several feelings at once! I love how miss Lemm normalizes mental health issues and how openly and detailed she writes about it. The romance in this book is so cute too. It's a book you need to read! Thank you for this book!

What can I say, this book was BEAUTIFUL and I utterly enjoyed it. I knew I'm gonna enjoy it 'cause these kinds of books are always so addictive.
From the first time, Axel and Tate danced I had butterflies in my stomach. I wanted them to be more of a slow burn 'cause I feel like everything happened really fast between them, but that's just my opinion. I loved their trip to Chicago, that was probably my favorite chapter, they were just so cutee and perfect.
A lot happened in this book, I feel like too much for just one book, but everything turned out great in the end. A lot of drama, but also, so many beautiful moments that made me swoon.
I loved the fact that it wasn't just about Axel and Tate. I liked how you included the other characters too. I loved Tate, Gianna and Claire, how they were always there for each other, how they took care of each other when going to a party.
Gianna and Ash were so cute too.
I also liked the titles in every chapter, I love when books have that.

I want to start off by saying that I think that it’s amazing that “Forever Burn” was written by a 19 year old. Honestly, that’s such a cool accomplishment. It’s so refreshing to see younger people writing books, especially ones that deal with heavy topics such as emotional abuse. Before reading this novel, I didn’t know too much about emotional abuse, especially abuse that leads towards C-PTSD. I’m always wanting to learn more about people’s experiences and how those events affect different people. I was really glad that the author chose to write a book about a character with C-PTSD because this novel helped me understand the differences between C-PTSD and PTSD, as well as how hard it must be for someone to live with a condition that other people view as something that’s “not that bad.”
I have mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, I don’t want to be too harsh because I’m pretty sure this was the author’s first novel. It takes time to get into the hang of writing books and to find one’s “voice.” However, I do want to be honest. I made a personal promise to myself that I would always be honest when reviewing a book, and I intend to keep that promise. Not everyone is going to be obsessed with every book that they read, and that’s totally normal and okay! I personally think that if an author loves their work, then that’s all that really matters in the end. Writing is a cathartic experience for a lot of people. It’s a way to get out emotions that can’t be expressed out loud.
Let’s start with what I liked first. The girl power friend group that existed between Claire, Gianna, and Tatum was super empowering. It was great to see girls stick up for each other, especially during hard times. I always love finding a fictional girl gang that I can get behind! I also particularly liked the dynamic between Axel, Tatum, Gianna, and Ash. As I mentioned earlier, I admire the fact that this book included the topic of emotional abuse. I honestly feel like I have a much better understanding of the issue than I did before reading the book. It was enlightening getting to read about Tatum’s experiences with her ex, Connor, versus her life with Axel. Even though I hope to never have to recognize the signs of emotional abuse, I am now much more prepared to do so should I ever need to.
The story itself was a typical college kind of story (lots of partying, drinking, etc). It honestly reminded me of “After” by Anna Todd. I wouldn’t say that Hardin (from “After”) is a carbon copy of Axel. He’s not. The two characters are similar, but they have their differences. Same goes with the story. “Forever Burn” had some scenes that reminded me of “After,” but again, I wouldn’t say the plot was exactly the same. It was definitely close in some areas. Also, Tatum’s quick forgiveness of Axel’s behavior definitely reminded me of Tessa’s (also from “After”) forgiveness towards Hardin. But again, it’s just a similarity. Honestly though, there are so many books with similar stories and characters out there, so it’s not a big deal.
Surprisingly for me, I felt the most chemistry between Axel and Tatum during the last fourth of the book. Maybe that’s because I witnessed them going through hardships, only to come out stronger than ever. I’m not really sure. What I do know is that I felt more butterflies during the last part of the book than I did in the beginning. It took me about 80 pages to get into the story. I’m not exactly sure if there’s a single reason as to why that is, but my guess is that it’s because I didn’t feel an emotional connection with the characters. However, there were some really cute flirtatious scenes that I very much enjoyed (such as the pancake batter scene. So cute!) I think that I would’ve been more into their relationship had there been more details provided regarding Tatum’s internal feelings towards Axel at the beginning of the novel. I could tell that Tatum was physically attracted towards Axel, but what I really wanted to know more about was her emotional connection with the campus bad boy. This may be due to the fact that I read a ton of bully romance novels. I wouldn’t say that Axel was a bully. He was actually quite sweet. However, based on the book description, I went into this book thinking that Axel was going to be a lot ruder than he actually was. Perhaps this was a misunderstanding on my part.
The story theme was overall interesting and informative, but lacked flavor and editing. There were a lot of large paragraphs that should’ve been split up, especially when dialogue was involved. There were also times when a comma was used after a piece of dialogue when, in reality, the sentences should have been separately split by a period. There were grammatical errors that were distracting. I read a lot of books, so it’s hard for me not to notice things like formatting, grammar, etc. I don’t say these things to be rude or judgmental of the author’s writing style. Rather, I hope that my commentary will help her polish her books in the future. Again, writing a book at 19 is an amazing feat. I feel really confident that the author can fix some of these issues if she were to write another novel. I really did enjoy the storyline. The part I had a problem with was the execution.
Anyways, this was a wonderful story showcasing Tatum’s journey towards self-love and acceptance. I always enjoy seeing a character grow and evolve during the course of a book. Tatum was no exception. Thanks again to the author for the free book!

I immediately started liking the main character, Tatum. As she told the story of the events that happened between her and her ex, it made me think. We as woman suffer thru the same thing, day in and day out, and for what. In hopes of getting love from the one we love so much. i like this book cause so many of us can relate to Tatum. When she meets Axel and they begin to hang out, you cant help but to cheer for them. This book made me think, cry at times and had me full of frustration. Trinity is a good writer and i look forward to her next book.

School romances aren't my favorite genre overall but I love supporting new authors. Even though the voice of Tatum Everley was a little too young and angsty for me to identify with, I instantly liked the character and I'm a lifelong fan of bad boys so Axel Burne was immediately intriguing. I can tell Trinity Lemm @trinitylemmwriting has put a lot of work into this book and overall I think it was successful. Tatum & Axel have a complicated past. This bad boy romance is a rollercoaster ride of their ups and downs as they figure out if they work or make things worse. On top of that, girls are throwing themselves at Axel, and Tatum has a persistent creep.
There were points when I thought they’d never get a happy ending, but I kept turning the page after every drama. It led to a satisfying ending that definitely left me wanting book two!

Absolutely loved the plot of this book! There were many challenging situations the characters faced that are totally realistic for people going through relationship problems and C-PTSD.
I did notice a few acronyms that didn’t match the original one, something that can be easily overlooked as an author due to autocorrect or anything of that nature.
Overall it was easy to gloss over small mistakes like that and lose myself in the story!
