Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
The Drow There And Nothing More is the third book in the Goth Drow series by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.
This book definitely opened many questionable avenues, answered certain mysteries, and led us to our first instance of true change. But I’m still left mildly confused at the end of it. And then there’s Matthew who I was at least partially right about, time will tell if he’s a really good actor or not. Possibly a future ally?? But he was the biggest annoyance with willful ignorance. And that’s in a book where sneaky, scheming, and conniving L’zar Veldrys was a main character, so that’s really saying something.
When Ember and Cheyenne confronted him I was gritting my teeth over Ember’s behavior. Maybe she was a little too attached to the first man to show interest in her after her injury and just didn’t want it to be all for naught, or whatever. However she tries to talk Cheyenne into more logical avenues than punch, or torture first, I hope she will be more inclined to be a little more suspicious in the future.
I have so many questions: pertaining to multiple different characters actual loyalties? L’zar and where else his machinations and hidden plots will take us? how Bianca knew where he was when he was invisible? what all these riddled prophesies truly mean? how to protect the last and sickened Nithlomar tree? and what the Crown has hidden up her creepy, siphoning sleeves? Oh and maybe how many supporters they have for the rebellion? If any of those will be drows? How they’ll go about bridging Earth to Ambur’gol when the little humans mostly know nothing about the hidden magical within their world?
My brain might explode at this point. Which is the main reason for the low review: that my brain is so twisted up over all of these unanswered questions.
Fab book and series! Our heroine Cheyenne is great as a Goth, she is well snarky, independent, feisty and she's also a tech genius! Also she's only half human, the other half is drow. That half of her has also given her magic and dark grey skin plus bone white hair just to add to the fun. In the first two books we find Cheyenne trying to get a grip on the amount of magic she has, trying to chase down an Orc who shot her best friend and trying to get her Masters degree at University! Lots of things go wrong, lots of things right but with the people she finds around her on her journey they somehow make things better. Also the bad guys had better watch out when Cheyenne is on the warpath! I actually laughed out loud many times so I would definitely recommend this series, it is great escapeism and I recommend it wholeheartedly!
Book three continues where book two left off, and ends with a bit of an open ending ready for book four!
Cheyenne has some new issues to contend with in this book, and, it seems, there is a new end goal that means a trip to the other world.
As with the other books, this is a BIG book, but well paced and entertaining. Cheyenne is learning and growing in her power, and her Fae best friend is being brought along for the ride! This epic (urban) fantasy saga, is a coming of age tale, with a heroine who is a little different, and a cast of supporting characters who may or may not be a little crazy!
Cheyenne is a Goth college chic with a predestined future that will change her life. Growing up with her famous single mother not knowing who her father is or how she came to be. Super advanced in tech but is working on her masters and college. She has a bbf Amber (aka a Fa e with not powers or is that another story hmm). The 1st book starts the story of Cheyenne's journey of accepts of herself and what she is meant to do to save everyone. Good Series-sold characters ..sold storyline..i do wish there was a lil more love connects made but all in all it was a Good Sunday afternoon read. Mrs. C.💋
I found this book very difficult to put down. The story line just draws you into this world they created. I love how the rules they use are set and have not deviated once and to my surprise has only one exception.
The development of the characters have been consistent thought out as well as the progression was never so slow that I felt as if there was filler to the story.
There were many times that I found myself staying up longer than I should only because of losing myself in this book. I fully recommend this book and look forward to the next!
Things just got a lot more interesting. I sort of figured out the little twist at the end of this book. It to be, right??? I didn't have it exactly, but for the most part. It's hard to write one of these without spoilers, but I don't want to summarize the story for you. I want you to read the book yourself. Suffice it to say...the book is awesome and there questions to be answered in the next one. Enjoy!!!!!
Cheyenne is growing in her Drow powers, learning more about the prophecy and what it means for her, however is frustrated at still not having all the information up front. We see the Crown’s loyalists amping up their efforts to kill Cheyenne, but also see new allies.
The series is developing in a crazy good way, and I’m excited to see what happens next.
This is a really fun series and universe so far. I have enjoyed the characters, the locations, everything. The only problem is it kept me up late reading until midnight at least one day and now I finished it and need the next book. Good job, hope the next book writing time goes quickly too. 😃
Another brilliant and compelling can't stop read by one of my favourite authors - my only regret is that the next episode in the series isn't available yet. Still that means I might get some sleep tonight which I most definitely wouldn't have if it was available now.
This one, not so much. Because most was page filler. Why is the queen so bad. How is she hurting the people. Whats going on with father drow. The end was short. So, she screamed a bunch. So what. Just filler does engage the reader. It was going so good but you are human with crank it put schedules that aren't. It wasn't terrible
Wow! I was pretty sure that it was all leading up to Cheyenne being next in line for the throne. That she doesn't want! Well, what's a Goth drow halfling to do? Push through and listen to her inner voice? We'll see in the next installment! (Rubs hands together in anticipation)
Wow. What a journey this incredible Goth goes on. A journey. Knowing she is illegitimate child of a human and imprisoned inmate Goth . , this leads to a fantastical journey. Where she makes incredible acquaintances life long friends. You do need to read this series from the beginning.
Tired of being just the unknowing pawn of the FRoE, Cheyenne is forcing herself to work harder to overcome her anger and her frustration with learning magic. When her Drow father decides to leave prison again, she has new problems as she and Ember try to survive the daily chaos surrounding them. A good read.
Some major fighting and horrors in the other world
Cheyenne and Ember work well together. The fighting is pretty intense. The machines are a nightmare! Finding people being tortured for their magic is horrific. Why would anyone be on that side of a life. On to the next adventure what will she do?
Man this is getting so good and who knew all the twists is this just a freaking fabulous story! Cheyenne is the perfect heroine . So tough And so good and so snarky! Howard S (the S stands for super fan)
Great book with plenty of action, portals, war machines, and code. A number of surprising "This is not how it works" events occur and provide unexpected changes.
Strong characters and an engaging story make this a terrific read. Cheyenne is against one challenge after another and keep getting tougher. Lots of surprises in this one as well.
This is the third book and I 💘love them all. I am anxiously awaiting the next book. It has been a great ride so far. The characters have been great and blend to make it a great story. Thank yo so much.
It was worth the wait as is with the other books of b this series looking forward to the next book now, hope the authors don't keep us waiting for long.
Once again, Cheyenne and her band of wily magical are on the move. Everything in this book scream at my magic loving senses. This series is one of the best by Martha a d Michael, and I'm hooked to the end.
Lol, book three and we finally find out what FRoE stands for . Some really interesting things happened, like Cheyenne gets to visit a special place. Ember gets her groove back, and I want an activator!
Wow, another awesome novel. I love these books and the fun is just beginning. It's been about choices all along but now we're really going to get to the heart of things.
