Scum America: The Stupid Factor

Rate this book
The Stupid why Scum America and the Republican Party can't be allowed to dominate American politics for even one more cycle.

The Republican Party and its Scum American base have risen to a despicable highpoint. Donald Trump—the living expression of everything base, vile, ignorant, and mean-spirited in the American undergrowth—has destroyed nearly everything he’s touched.     Our politics are more divided than at any time since the civil war. Arrogant ignorance has infected every cell of our society. Anti-social, neo-confederate racism and fanatical libertarianism are running rampant when we most need solidarity and shared sacrifice.     This is all the fault of Scum America and its political haven, the Republican Party.     The Scum America Factors Series lays out the fundamental factors that make Republicans and Scum Americans wrong about everything, utterly determined to stand in the way of all progress, and wildly hostile toward everything good and decent. This first volume of the series tackles one of the most basic elements of Scum “mentality” (if you can speak of mental activity seriously in connection with these people)—the abysmal stupidity that emanates from Scum America.     Stupidity is not just ignorance. We are all ignorant in many respects, and that is not a crime. But when you combine ignorance with intransigent arrogance, you get monstrous stupidity. And that is what Scum America specializes in.     Further volumes in the series discuss other elements of the Scum fear, belligerence, childishness, fake Christianity, and retrogressive culture.    Each volume is a very short read, and the whole series covers all the most important Scum characteristics that are destroying America and devouring its soul.    Check them all out on my Amazon book page.     And let's put a stop at the polls to the influence of despicable scummers in American politics--once and for all!

“Trump is their perfect avatar, the heightened icon of all the perverse ignorance and arrogance by which they live their lives. In their Bizarro-world notion of reality, life would be perfect if only they could always impose their racist, money-grubbing, power-hungry, xenophobic, un-Christian, lawless, and intensely selfish goals on the rest of the world—and get away without suffering the consequences. Trump has always gotten away with it. That is why they love him.”

I don’t agree with everything in this book,, but I did enjoy this paragraph. I could never understand how anybody could even think about voting for this “president “, but now I know.

We Can't Accept

We cannot accept people who defend injustices. We cannot accept people who speak of ignorance with such a mixture of arrogance! That is the big lesson here. Fighting to stop what some nasty people are fighting for. While the terms used here are harsh I wanted to hear those terms because I seem to hear just nasty things all the time from people who are on the opposite side of politics than me. This book was full of funny little attacks. There are a few lessons to learn here but experiencing those little attacks makes this read more than worth it! I will definitely read the rest! 3.5 stars 🌌

At the time I read this book there were five books in the series. It seems that they all have the same starting chapter. They are a little on the sort side.

Republicans would absolutely hate this series while some Democrats would like it. The series deals with Donald Trump's presidency and the type of people that almost worship him and everything he did.

Some of the most intersting points are when the author says being stupid is not the same thing as being ignorant, that being stupid involves arrogance in believing what you believe even if it is demonstrably wrong.

(The author notes that the use of violence against liberals (and I would add blacks, immigrants, etc) simply because they are not like you or think like you is unexcusable. Disagree verbally? No problem. Challenge someone to a debate over what they believe (like, say, the Earth being flat) is no problem. The use of violence against someone because they disagree with you, though, is a perfect example of being stupid.)

The author says an example he gives of being stupid is thinking that global warming is a hoax. (Note: the Earth has undergone various periods of warming and cooling before humans existed and after humans existed. The task is not to deny the warming but to determine just what part of that is natural and what part is caused by humans. )

The author notes that Liberals are not always right. He adds, though, they try to base their opinions on known facts and, if shown to be wrong, do try to correct themselves whereas the 'scum' assume themselves to be totally right and if someone disagrees with them they they say that person is totally wrong and any 'facts' they saw are false facts.

Some other things he says are religion is partly irrational, that culture does not automatically give a person certain rights, that a tradition might be good or it might be bad (just because it's a tradition does not automatically make it good) and that the 'scum' Americans are the height of stupidity.

As to myself, I think people who refuse to accept proven facts not 'scum' but are very narrow-minded. I throw in the anti-vaxers, the people who refused to wear masks when it was mandated, the people who think they are entitled to do whatever they want and people who try to get into violent disagreements with those who believe differently from them in some matter (religion, politics, certain sexual matters, etc.)

Violence is not the answer but it seems that trying to reach these people with facts doesn't work either. The greatest danger, as I see it, is when these people get into positions of power where they can try to force their usually uneducated beliefs on others.
This is an interesting book that I'm sure many would consider controversial.

Well-written

Contrary to some previous reviews, I think this book was well-written. One of the things I like is the size...it's a short, quick read that gives you a chance to sample the author before deciding on buying the rest of the series. It could use an editor, though. There are some mistakes, i.e. a few missing or added words, the wrong firm of a word, etc. Not sure if those are actual mistakes or just typos. They should be corrected.

Aching truthful

As difficult as it is to accept, the author here has presented concisely the truth of some of our friends, family and neighbors: they are Scum. And he explains quite clearly, with sound logic why that is true, and just how awful the consequences will be for our country and our world if we continue to allow Scum Americans to hold political power.
I will heed his advice.

Kind of a waste of time.

There's nothing new here. Non. No new thinking. A summary of the obvious. A wasted ten minutes you'll never get back.

On the nose--Amost!

The commitment, intensity, and scholarship of Mr McMurrey's work gives me renewed hope and energy in my daily\hourly emotional and "intellectual" struggle for hope in our pandemic-ravaged world and our competent, leadership-starved United States of America. This writing was obviously completed before the (seemingly) miraculous return of (Stacey Abrams,
etc. lead) 2020 election return of Presidential &
Senatorial control, joining the
( already Democratic controlled) Legislature--
to "decent" leadership (Dems)... Having read this work a little over 60 days into Trump's & etc. complete (Constitutional lumbered) ousting, It is clear that both the President and both houses of Congress can benefit from a familiarization
with the urgency of their missions called for by Mr McMurrey's...I note that all have demonstrated huge initial achievements album stress the need for continuing need for ongoing, constant positive Presidential and Legislative actions negating the tortuous, vitriolic, catistrophic actions of the subs leadership of January 2017 through January 20, 2021... PS...It seems that our 3rd "arm" of "checks & balances" --our Supreme Court --remains loyal to
its Constitutional and Legal Professional mission , calling, and ethics... Now, let's keep on forward!...
Thank you!...Bill Arick

McMurrey pulls no punches. I generally do not care for labeling, as it usually stops thought and assigns an approach based on the author's perspective. However, McMurrey lays it out in plain English how he arrives at this definition of the fools of MAGA. Carefully delineating accepted definitions of terms and then applying them. I have heard the MAGA people regurgitating their lies over and over with all the civility of a Honey Badger on Meth. And now I finally have a way of responding (if needed) with logical proof and correct usage of terms. I'm loving it, as it salves over the bruises of mindless insults hurled by "The Great Unwashed". I'll read them all.

Will GOP Break from Scum America?

How long should one continue to be polite to a rude intruder?
People who are inclined to empathize with the less fortunate tend to extend the same courtesy to those who cheat, lie, and behave selfishly. Trump and his scummy followers have been given too much courtesy. It’s time to reject stupidity (ignorance plus arrogance) and allow it no place in a just society.

Clear thinking about an American crisis

Normally, I don't read books with dumbed-down titles. This was an exception, as the author's thinking is rational and well supported. It states the problems of a Trump-America in a simple but essential way, fully grounded in the founding fathers ideal of a state that protects Justice above all else. America stands to protect the weakest against the strongest, and not vice-versa. Freedom is only achievable in a just society.

Too inflammatory

There seem to be a few good points buried within the text of this argument. However, the inflammatory and confrontative language used to make those points is counterproductive to the argument in general. I believe that the author has taken these pejorative words and nullifies much of the goodwill his arguments might receive if they were placed in more neutral language. Overall, I can’t in good conscience read the rest of his series.

This book explains just how it is that those who are loudest and most obnoxious are "stupid" - a term which is defined by the author of willfully ignorant and arrogant about ignorance. The most dangerous is "stupidity" about science and reason, but it also goes into an anti-intellectual bent. It explains how "My Googling is better than your 8 years of college."

Quick read.

Amen Brother

Also, the Greed Factor. Pathological greed should be added to the DSM years ago. Have the greedy Scummers committed or at least get them court mandated psychiatric treatment.

Funny, Outrageous, and Dead Right

Loses a point for typos and only being a chapter as opposed to an entire book. Although with literal guns to our collective heads, thank you scummers. Events are definitely moving too fast for a book to keep up.

What a poorly written collection of crap.

I have never read such a collection of hatred and name calling. Must have been written by a 6th grade student! Except a 6th grade student would have a better command of English. I am not sure what the point is of this book.

Snarky but fun

Not a bad book but not an epic one. Points out where the far Reich wing is, as well as how ignorant they are about true freedoms.

Not my cup of tea

This quick read was a little too out there for me. It was short enough that finished it but have no interest in reading more.
