The Reacher Code #2

by Jude Hardin

Set in the Reacher Universe by permission of Lee Child

Jack Reacher is about to be murdered. By a man from the future...

Rock Wahlman…

Former Navy Master-At-Arms, Jack Reacher’s genetic duplicate, produced from a blood specimen that was drawn over a hundred years ago.

Recently recruited by a secret government agency called the FCYYC (the Federal Commission on Yesteryears and Years to Come), Wahlman is now a time-traveling operative, performing missions designed to protect Reacher from a faction called Topple—a rogue group of criminals determined to alter the past in an effort to make the future more profitable for themselves.

Topple has a new secret weapon, and they know that Reacher will be extremely vulnerable on a certain night in 1990. And this time, they plan to make sure that the FCYYC is not around to interfere…

Before being recruited as Jack Reacher’s time-traveling bodyguard, Rock Wahlman got chased and shot at and beat some bad guys senseless in The Reacher Experiment series of thrillers. Pulse-pounding action from the first page to the last!

Back in the 1950's, one could go to a movie theater and see a double feature, usually prefaced by a newsreel, a cartoon (or two) and a serial adventure, all for the astonishing price of twenty-five cents. The serial was always reasonably short and every week left the hero with a cliffhanger ending to be resolved the following week. All of these Jude Hardin "Reacher" book have that 50's serial feel to them. Low budget, pedestrian dialogue and writing, and lots of action. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's good honest entertainment. But anyone looking for deep plots and lots of character development may be a little disappointed.

Rock Wahlman , his wife and daughter safely hidden in the year 1959, goes to another time zone to protect Jack Reacher. Since Rock is a clone of Jack Reacher, if Reacher is killed before his blood sample is drawn, Rock will cease to exist. Rock gets into a fight with another clone of Reacher.. The headquarters that Rock reports to has been infiltrated and most of the people killed. Rock escapes with Barbeau, an operative who is a double agent with the Topple organization.(fighting for the FCYYC).

The Reacher Code. Jude Hardin

Rocky Wahlman a time traveling special operative is the first of the Jack Reacher clones. He is on a mission with another operative to save Reachers from an assassination attempt. They traveled to the time and date Reacher lives in. The agent sent to kill Reacher works for Topple whose mission is to murder all of The Reacher clones by simply killing Jack Reacher. If that happens Wahlman dies also. An extremely fast paced action read. Enjoyed immensely!!

Surprisingly Cool

I am surprised that I enjoy this series so much and pleased that Rock is not Reacher but close enough to matter. The surrounding characters are just right and they are an anchor not seen in the real Reacher universe so that individualises the separate books but without destroying the underlying connections

Good so far

Have read Dan Ames and Diane Capri. This series seems to be different in an interesting way. I’m reserving judgement until after the third story. Part 2 was somewhat predictable, more so than Part 1.

Time cop rip off

This work seems to be less than original. john claude van dam did a better job. that script is way similar to this book. While mixing futuristic with presented technology seems kind of far fetched.

not a mix I would have ever predicted -- or wanted.

poor sci-fi combined with nostalgia about Reacher (he is cloned thousands of times!) makes for a mixed-up plot with time travel on an unlikely motorcycle.

how does Lee Child allow this to happen?

Good story

Back in the future with rock again, it had been a while so it was nice to get re reacquainted with him. This book went by in a couple of hours, short, but sweet

Good read from different time zones which is interesting and Rock trying to stay in existance by keeping Reacher alive as he is a clone of Reacher and someone wants him dead .Do hope there is more .

Another great read from Hardin. Wahlman was going to quit but his wife Kasey talks sense into him and he goes back, thus #3. Loved it.

Fast Paced Action

Interesting time machine story featuring Jack Reacher clones. What’s not to like.
Looking forward to Timestream 3 and a positive outcome for all the clones.

Excellent Adventure

It's just like Reacher but in the future, Rock is after all cloned from the man himself. Makes you think about what just might happen in the future!

Another brilliant read

Another cracking episode of this storyline, Jude Hardin’s future take on the Reacher legacy is simply awesome, just read it!

FCYYC send someone to kill Wahlman, as they think he has failed in his mission - yet again Wahlman survives and here again, he saves Reacher from being killed, although not as he had planned.
