Sam and Indie take on their strangest case ever, when they're asked to help prove that a cameraman for a ghost chaser TV show did not murder a policeman. The case brings them into a world of ghosts such as they never imagined, and Beauregard and Grace are front and center as they try to identify and stop a killer.
Then, when all seems lost, Sam finally manages to prove who was truly guilty, but the result is something none of them ever could have foreseen.

Oh, Sam! Indie! Beauregard and Grace! WHAT a story THIS time around! A former mental institution/closed insane asylum? Indie's 27th birthday?!?!?!? GHOSTS???? I loved it ~ even though I typically shy away from paranormal stories, Beauregard isn't *really* supernatural, he's just part of the family! But WHAT a 'gift' Indie got for this birthday! Oh, MY!!!!! I simply CANNOT WAIT for the next one! The only quibble I have at this point is that I did miss the gang ~ I realize with their move to Florida, and Sam's retirement, that we won't be seeing them, but I can still miss them, and I do. Otherwise, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Mr Archer, NEVER stop writing these wonderful stories about Sam and Indie and the family . . . can't wait to see how the kids grow!!
When she was twenty seven Kim started hearing Beauregard, it's Indie's 27th birthday and to her surprise, she can hear him & Grace. Kim is delighted, as she no longer is the only one who can hear them & pass messages along. Later Indie and Herman have a special surprise for Sam, which cures his doubt about Beauregard's existence once & for all. Isabold is front man for a tv show about haunted buildings, he and his crew have finally got permission to film inside the derelict Mayhew Asylum for the criminally insane. Three troopers are assigned to accompany them, one is mysteriously killed not long after they enter the building. Bruce one of the cameramen is suspected of committing the crime as he was closest to Trooper Emerson when he fell. Sam is asked to help prove his innocence, as the police seem to be convinced he is the culprit, despite video footage showing him to be too far away to have touched the Trooper. The old building is full of ghosts of staff & former patients, how many of the living can hear or see them? Very good read from a slightly different perspective, amusing throughout.
“CHASING GHOSTS” - Book 12 in the Sam & Indie Prichard is a delightful ‘read’. Without giving away any of the ‘reveal’, Sam & Indie solve multiple murders - some going back decades - with the help of ghosts.
While trying to film and episode for a Paranormal Reality TV Show at an Atlanta abandoned insane asylum, the crew and those assigned to assist them encounter a ghost and, in the process of getting more footage, one of their police escorts is killed. What looks like an “accident’ quickly turns into a murder investigation. Enter Sam, Indie, Beauregard, Sam’s deceased mother, and a ‘cast of supernatural extras’.
What makes this episode so enjoyable, is that Indie and Sam can now BOTH hear & talk to the ghosts. While it may be difficult to comprehend so much ghostly assistance from the asylum deceased residents & staff, it’s still a very enjoyable read. David Archer has wonderfully woven the ‘real’ world with that of the ‘supernatural’.
Whether you are a long-time fan of Mr. Archer’s books or a ‘newbie’, you’ll enjoy “Chasing Ghosts”.
Totally worth it if you're a fan of ghosts and mysteries
If you knew the Sam Pritchard series then the Sam and Indie are more family oriented. Well, if your family included your mom as a ghost and your great, great great something grandfather is a ghost from the Civil War era. Still get the mysteries and likely a murder or two but this one is a true ghost story from a closed asylum for the criminally insane. If course murders took place there and their spirits never left. Now a State Policeman is murdered. Is he the newest resident ghost? Who killed him? A living person or another ghost?
More ghosts. When I first started reading the series it was a small part of the overall story. It has grown to where the interactions with the ghosts have become most of the entire story. Think I'm gonna opt out of future titles in this series for a while. The writing is good for certain, the subject matter however has taken over as the actual main characters ghosts.
This was a great way to understand the importance of knowing all about ghosts. Knowing that it's only fictional, it still left me feeling better about myself. What really happens when you die and where do you go from there. It really leaves you thinking. Great job Mr. Archer, you are a great writer and have a great imagination.
Read through the book in one sitting. It has the usual twists and turns you expect in a Sam & Indie novel, although this story moved a bit towards the edge of credulity. The increasing circle of "livey's" able to see/talk with ghosts is approaching "too much".
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure . It was an absolute treat to have these crew working together!!! Well developed story and characters as always! It had an added element, absolute Genius Imagination!!! Absolutely a winner and must read!!! Keep them coming Mr. Archer!
I enjoyed the interaction between Said and his wife Indie. Both are very intelligent and creative in how they approach a new adventure. I love Beauregard & Grace too! I missed the book in which Grace was murdered but will enjoy reading more of these books to find out.
The 12th installment if the Sam/Indie series was very interesting because it dealt with Childhood Trauma, Mental Illness, Police Corruption and modern day Television. Sam and Indie are hired to investigate the death of a Sheriff that occurred in a Supposedly haunted Mental Institution. Well written and very believable ending
OK. This is not great literature but it is great fun to read, especially if you are already familiar with the series. If you do choose to read this book, I encourage you to read the series in sequence. Although this book will stand on its own, I think you will enjoy it more with the context that comes from reading the earlier books.
Whilst I enjoyed this book, I felt there were too many ghosts involved. Although it is well written, for me this book is just a light hearted read. I will definitely read more of the Sam and Indie series and recommend them - just don't take this one too seriously!!
Grab your ghost buster gear and get ready for a new ride with Sam and Indie for a great read complete with ghosts on every page. Can’t wait for next book
I usually thoroughly enjoyed Sam and Indy’s adventures, but this one got lost in the myriad of too many ghosts. I hope the remainder of the books just have Beauregard and Grace.
Loved the idea of Sam finally being able to speak to Beauregard . I was enameled with all the ghosts and how they related to the story. David Archer is a great writer....I have read ALL of his book series and look forward to more in the near future!
It started out different but then got into a very good story! I loved that Sam could actually communicate to Beauregard thru his phone app! It kept me in suspense as I wasn’t sure who was killing and planning on destroying all A very good read!
I have read every book in this series. I loved it when the main characters were Sam and Indie! Letting the ghost take over was not a wise choice, not sure if I will read any more after this one
I have read, just about, every book by Mr Archer. Beauregard has always been a foot note. This story belongs on Tales of The Crypt. Stick to detectiving and leave the Supra natural to others. Yes Supra not super.
Another award winning story with lots of ghost and New adventures. This book is also another page Turner with lots of action and mystery which will satisfy the desire to be completely entertained!
This was the craziest story yet. It made my head dizzy with all the different characters, both living and dead. I found it to be too far out, but still enjoyed it.
Interesting read. Sam and Indie travel to Atlanta to help in the investigation of the death of Trooper Emerson. Grace and Beau guard are also involved and help them figure things out.
Love the authors books as well as his different series. I have the next one on pre ordered, thinking of cancelling, and ending this series, if this is the theme from now on. The characters we think of with this series is Sam and Indie, not the Ghosts, didn’t finish the book.a waste of $5 .
What a racking read that was this is a different type of book than I would normally have chosen to read, but after the first couple of books I got well and truly hooked.
Another twist to the Tail, with this story Sam and Indie asked to help some Spook finding you tube video makers. I enjoyed it and look forward to your next book David.
