MEAGAN:
I knew that boy was trouble the moment I laid eyes on him: shaved head, leather jacket, tattoos leaking out onto his neck like warpaint.

I've just now left behind the storms of my past, and he is no fluffy white cloud to land on.

But one wicked smile from him, and I'm shivering, longing for something I should never want

Maybe just one night. Yeah, one rough night to shake me free.

That's all this was supposed to be...

VAUGHN:
The girl had my attention from the moment her dark eyes found mine. She shouldn't have been my type, not by a long shot. But opportunity presented itself, and I gave in to weakness.

One night would have been bad enough. But this girl won't leave my goddamn mind. I can't keep myself from her lush embrace.

This goes on, the truth will find us - burn me to the ground. Cause my family and I run with the Storm's Soldiers - the roughest white separatist group south of the Mason-Dixon.

And this girl's a lot of things, but she sure ain't white...

Vaughn features romance, sexual situations and rough language. Mature and open-minded audiences only. An earlier edition of this book was published under the title Black and White.

Not what I expected

Vaughn was a redemption story. The storyline was creative and would have made for a decent story. I liked that Vaughn was nothing like his family. Yet, it took a lot for him too long to stand up for himself. He was busy making excuses for his family and himself.
I didn't really understand Meagan's craving for Vaughn. Why would she want to be with someone that hated everything about her? She did not try to educate him. In more instances, he was educating her. I felt like she could be stronger. She would have roared for herself. She really didn't have any beliefs one way or the other.

I would recommend this book to my friends to see if they felt the same as I did.

Happy Reading.

I enjoyed the metamorphosis of Vaughn.

He was deeply entrenched in his way of life. After the tragic death of his mother by a black guy, his father and brother became White Nationalist. With their influence he also joined. Their pain and regret turned into hate for all who were not white.

Vaughn initially fought this change, even tried to lead a double life. But later when he realized what was truly important, what he could not see a future without, he welcomed this evolution in bold way sacrificing all ties to the past.

4.5 Stars because the author gave us a HFN ending not a HEA. It makes the story feel incomplete.

Beautiful growth

Vaughn grew as a person and Megan gave him space to grow without sacrificing her dignity. I do have two issues that kept this a four and not a 5 star story for me. He changed his whole life for a a woman but never made her family or gave her his name. I would expect a person with a sense of family loyalty like he has would take the time to create a new unit. Secondly, they seemed to have played fast and loose with the birth control a few times. Why write it and then not acknowledge the consequences or explain why it is not an issue.

Yeah, no.

DNF!

In CHAPTER 2, that early, you can tell the MFC is dumb. Ma'am, his friend was just saying all types of messed up racial things, and he didn't step in or say anything AT ALL! And not even 5 minutes later you're flirting with him? You aren't the least bit concerned about that? I can't.

I should have read this one before reading "Calix" because Vaughn left the organization before his older brother Calix left (next book). It was an okay story. I felt that the main female character was a bit naive and gullible but it worked out for them both.

Cute!

I enjoyed reading this book. The character development was good and I thought the time line of events were well thought out. Some offensive language used and I normally hate reading books that include them, but it did fit the narrative. I will read more of Notaro’s books.

Meg, was just not the gil for this genre. She was week and pathetic. Where is your pride as a black woman? Why do author get lazy?.. This is a stuff topic?.. She author fell very short...lets hope book two is better.

Ok

Vaughn is a man who believed in family even if they are leading you down the wrong path. He found love in someone he was thought not to even like and made up his mind to leave those people behind.

Enjoyable and interesting

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. I loved that it wasn’t an unexpected come to Jesus moment but vaughn’s beliefs were questioned and changed over time. Especially loved the finale.

😍Vaughn & Meagan

Five Flaming 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥stars for Vaughn & Meagan’s IR romance. I wasn’t sure they would get a HEA given their starkly different backgrounds & Vaughn’s white nationalists history . It’s a fantasy , so love wins 🙌🏽

Almost didn't finish this

I like the way this ended more than started. Meghan reasons for just going with Vaughn just didn't make sense. It did evolve more into her questioning herself and him and then them making their own decisions. I'll try book 2

Good book

This was my first book reading this author and I was pleased. I liked the story line, I am now about to read Calix’s story, he seemed more hard core than his brother.

The storyline was decent but the female character was dull and weak minded. If the author is going to write in this genre she should talk to people that have experienced this situation. This way the characters are more real and believable.
