Dollycas’s Thoughts

Office Manager Becca Reynolds finds herself in the middle of another murder when she and her friend Daisy find the body of an ice skater during an innocent outing. This upsets Daisy’s brother Ryder to no end. He has been doing everything he can to keep his sister safe after a terrible “accident” and he believes Becca and her “insane ideas” are putting his sister in danger.

Becca is so drawn into the idea of catching the killer she fails to think about the ramifications of her actions. Is she going to catch the killer or is the killer going to catch her? and maybe Daisy too!

After reading the first book in this series, Your Eight O’Clock is Dead, I was prepared for the inept amateur sleuth Becca Reynolds and she has gotten just a tiny bit better. She still jumps to conclusions and into situations without fear or thought about what could go wrong, but she still has a huge heart.

In this story, we learn more about Daisy and her special talent which is amazing but something she should not be doing for safety reasons after all that has happened to her. She and Becca have become friends. Becca would like to be more than friends with her brother ex-cop turned “CPA” Ryder, but she is also drawn to sexy Russian bad boy Max. Becca’s bosses, psychiatrists Daley and Palmer have their own issues to handle. She tries to do anything she can to help them out. Her grandfather has a new love interest but he still takes time to lecture Becca about things like “Burning the Candle at Both Ends” and “No Ring, No Minister, No Sex, No How” just to name two of many. The characters Ms. Jorgensen are unique to say the least. There are some curious connections between several of the cast which makes the book very intriguing.

The mystery was complicated with several suspects and a mass of twists and turns. Becca has tons of ideas and sometimes goes in circles. Some of those ideas give her panic attacks as she tries to follow through. Following along with her had me shaking my head, laughing out loud, and wondering if she was going to get out alive from the situations she got herself into, especially when one of her key suspects was murdered. The showdown and confession are dramatic and when the dust clears Becca finds herself with another conundrum.

Your Time Is Up is an entertaining read. Some parts are hysterical, while others are offbeat but some really touched my heart. After the ending, I am looking forward to see what Becca does next and what outrageous mystery she gets wrapped up in.

Excellent Read

I've got to say that book 2 was hilarious as the first book. As for this book, you won't know who the killer is before the very end either. The sleuth will keep you laughing. Great read. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
