Wren and Piper have escaped Provision and its leader, Doctor Judas Lake. Now, safe in the depths of the Lukachukai Mountains and under the protection of The Order, the sisters begrudgingly welcome the temporary respite. But their freedom tastes bitter, haunted by memories of the innocents left behind or taken hostage. Life is dangerous for the Nephilim, descendants of the Divine Bloodline who have been bestowed with supernatural abilities. Hunted by an international government program obsessed with eradicating their existence, many are imprisoned in ADAM compounds for life. Torn between rescuing Gabby - a coveted, defenseless Nephilim who they had sworn to protect - or defeating Doctor Lake and pursuing the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse, Wren and Piper are forced to make hard choices with lethal consequences. Meanwhile, the former Smithsonian director, Katherine Dodge, has followed a very different path from the sisters. She has woven her way all over the world, only to find herself back on the doorstep of The Order. And her story is just beginning... But the Four Horsemen and The Order are both a means to an end. With final destinations looming ever nearer, Nephilim across the globe will need to take a stand against evil, or suffer at the hands of Doctor Lake and Provision. Ryder (she/they) is an accomplished speculative fiction author and dedicated ghostwriter, hailing from Arizona as a fourth-generation native. Surrounded by the essence of hunting, bushcraft, and unwavering natural conservation, Ryder's upbringing continues to infuse her writing with a unique perspective. Ryder's academic journey led her through creative writing studies at Northern Arizona University, where she simultaneously cultivated connections within the literary realm as a prolific ghostwriter.
As an active and engaged member of Arizona's independent author community, Ryder ardently works towards enhancing the literary landscape she inherited. Her mission involves extending support, offering valuable resources, and sharing profound insights with both burgeoning and established authors.
Outside the realm of writing, Ryder remains deeply rooted in Arizona, advocating passionately for her daughter within the Autism and deaf/hard-of-hearing communities. Amidst her vibrant life, Ryder unearths moments to delve into tantalizing literature and embark on eccentric escapades alongside her husband, daughter, and two spirited shiba inus – creatures she amusingly suspects might be of demonic lineage.
After reading Adam I looked forward to what came next and Ryder Lyne did not disappoint. The Order continues a great story that gives just the right amount of suspense to make you want to read the next page. I will recommend this series to my friends.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ryder Lyne set quite a stage in Adam, Book One of the Divine Bloodline Trilogy, and I was excited to see what was coming next. I was selected to serve on the team of beta readers, and can honestly say that Book Two - The Order - blew me away. The characters and the story grow by leaps and bounds, and the writing is so vibrant and heart-wrenching. I am usually the sort of reader who can see what's coming, and this one turned me on my head. I did NOT expect the twists and turns. I need Book Three YESTERDAY! If you like Hunger Games, X-Men, or the like - this book is for you!
Ryder Lyne is the queen of descriptive writing. One thing I can promise you about reading this is that you will never find yourself unable to vividly picture a scene in this book. Lyne's writing style really allows you to immerse yourself in the story and the characters' plights. Ryder has created an amazing world in this series, and I'm excited to have had the chance to lose myself in it. This book was a wonderful addition to the Divine Bloodline. It made me laugh, and it broke my heart. I can't wait for more.
I read this book back before it was published and I’m super stoked to reread it once it’s fully complete and published. I can’t wait to own a physical copy and hold it in my hands.
Ryder asked me to read this for her and I did without knowing what to expect. I knew it was a sequel and that it was a religious apocalypse book.
Without having read the first book, I still had an idea of what happened with the first book. Ryder refers back to events, but doesn’t summarise because it jumps right back into the action.
THIS BOOK IS NOT PREACHY! This is the main worry I had about reading the first novel and I can safely say that it does not try to convert people or deliver the “God is great” speech that some religious focused books do.
I loved how unique each character is and how they grew and interacted with each other. I was surprised by how much I loved Famine even though he was a “bad guy.”
This book will devastate and excite and I implore you to read and enjoy it as I have.
*spoiler free Ryder Lyne is back with The Order! In this follow-up to ADAM the world expands and the stakes are raised! I compared the first book to a cross between X-Men and Indiana Jones(which are two of my all time favorites). She’s put a new spin on religious lore as well as taken some classic super powers and given them a unique twist. If you read her first book you’ll see how much she has progressed in just a few years as a storyteller.
I love the short chapters format (but my sleep schedule hates it) because it’s so damn hard to put the book down!
There are lots of reveals, and enough characters /development to fill up a tv series.
a great addition to the first book! So vivid and descriptive, its easy to visualize and follow the stroy. The characters are captivating and deep and you cant help but to root for them. Ryder is a great writer and brings such an interesting story, you want and need more!
