Amid forbidden love and betrayal can two men find a way to be together?

When hunter Jace DeLeon volunteers to track down his best friend, his life is changed forever. No one who has ever contracted the deadly Rabid Virus has lived to tell about it. It’s going to take every ounce of his will to deliver the final blow to a man who secretly holds his heart.

When someone betrays Alpha wolf shifter Cage Ashwood, he’s on the run for his life and can’t slow down long enough to prove he’s not infected. Law demands that the hunters and even his own pack shoot first and ask questions later. He’s not surprised when the hunters send Jace to deliver his fate.

I only didn't DNF because it's not that long so it wouldn't be polite but I had a hard time with the wooden dialog and the way of throwing information out of nowhere. A few nice ideas but there was nothing I could feel.

A solid opening to this series which lays down the groundwork for the paranormal world.

It ends with a bit of a cliffhanger but as all the books are out now, I didn’t mind so much.

I'm intrigued to find out more and the bits I saw of Cage and Jase, I liked.

Very quick and easy novella to help hit my reading goal for the month. Really enjoyed Jace and cages story! It looks like it continues into the rest of the series so I look forward to finishing it

I was really disappointed with this: the story was intriguing and promised so much, but it was just so poorly executed. I gave up after several chapters of repetitive info-dumping and backstory interspersed with wooden dialogue. Maybe this needed to be longer than novella-length to develop the plot and characters more fully.

I liked this a lot more than I did previous books of the author I've read.
There is a lot of information packed into a rather short story (though there is no real ending, the plot will continue in the next installmet), but I really enjoyed the world building. Obviously there is not enough room to elaborate on everything, so some things are glossed over quickly, but overall it felt a lot more consistend and thought out than what I've read before.
This is fast paced and action filled, but I still got a feel for the characters, too, and will happily read more about them.

Great start to a new series! Jace is a Hunter and Cage is Alpha of a small wolf-shifter pack. They’ve always been taught their love is forbidden; hunters can’t be with shifters. Lies and deceit send Jace, Cage, and the pack fleeing to Alaska. It appears a war is simmering between the hunters and shifters. Only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.

The author does a good job of world building in this book. Interesting to see the differences between this shifter book and others. No talk about fated mates per say & no talk about knotting. 🤷‍♀️ I’m assuming those don’t exist in this world.

I pretty much fell in love with all the characters, especially Alister. Oh he’s a hoot. I really hope he makes many appearances in future books.

I wonder if we’ll see other couples featured in their own future books or will everything happen in the background of Jace and Cage’s books. (I’m thinking about Alex and Griffin)

All in all I’d recommend this book.

I give this book 3.5 stars but rounded up instead of down. I really loved the world building and my rating would be higher if there weren't moments that messed with the understanding of time passing. But like most novellas sometimes details are skimmed over in order to keep word count down, once Jace finds himself in custody of the Hunters Council, they skip through just a little too much. The introduction of Alistair, Jace's best friend just feels strange since he isn't even mentioned until 60% in so how close could they be, is what I wondered. However, I really liked the characters created and the mythology of the wolves and hunters and magic. I definitely am interested in the second book and hope for less skipped details.

Not a big fan of the Pacific Northwest Shifters series and let me tell you why. The first two books end without any sort of resolution. They are also short, so they could have been one book instead of two... The third and fourth books are from Alistair's POV, which is okay but it did not fit the theme especially as the story of Jace and Cage was not finished yet... Anyway, we did not get the fourth book yet and it has been 4 years since the third book, so I donť even think we will get it...so the story (from the first book) is still unfinished because it all had to be cliffhangers.....now you can understand my feelings...

I enjoyed reading this book although I wish it could have been longer. Cage, an alpha wolf shifter, and Jace ,a Hunter, are very good friends. But Cage is betrayed and Jace has to hunt him down and kill him. But jace has doubts about Cage’s guilt. Jace rescues Cage from another Hunter and the two men talk. They discover that they are in love with each and that is forbidden. So now both men have a target on their back. Jace and Cage will need to work together to find person responsible for the lies.

Oof. I dunno, man. I really super enjoyed so many of the series by this author that this one, so far, is a huge let down. I feel like there's backstory I'm missing except that this is book 1. The insta-love wasn't insta, I get, but on the page it was. Like the "no we can't/oh wait we're all in now" switch was waaaaay quick. Bah. I also didn't realize how incredibly short this book was. I'll read the next one because I have it, but I'm just not in love with it.

A wolf & a hunter get caught in a conspiracy...

This series is off to an action-packed start! From first page to last the story keeps you in its grasp. I couldn't put it down. Danger is around every corner. But there is a also love, loyalty, revelation, and intrigue. Come. Join Cage and Jace on their journey. This is a HFN, as the story continues. I can't wait to read the next book.

Another great book and new series

She's done it again! I loved this book. As with all her books, the characters are off the charts, story lines are well written and feelings and emotions are perfectly written. Thank you again for another great read. I can always count on your books.

Really intriguing start to a new series from an author I enjoy. I think it’s her first foray into paranormal. If so, she’s done a fantastic job. Great storyline, intrigue, betrayal, forbidden romance, cool magic. Love the MCs Cade and Jace. Can’t wait for book two!

Shifters, Hunters, Warlocks & HOT Sex!

I love the premise of this story, so much of everything and yet not enough — I want more! Cage and Jace are such “best friends”, they would sacrifice everything to be together, oh my....

Who's behind the Lies

Great mystery happening here. Who's after Cage and why are they trying to keep him and Jace apart. Also is the Marcus that was holding Jace Roman's Marcus, if so why is he acting that way.

Love all your books

Your books are full of life and hope. Regardless of the plot which flows smoothly through the novel perseverance of right over evil shines through. The characters are believable and three dimensionable. More books please.

New Series for me to read!

I am such a fan of shifter romance books especially MM. Jase and Cade , a hunter and a wolf, love each other, but a law that the Hunters council enforce, forbids them to be mated. But is it true? This ends with a HFN. Now off to the next book!

Okay Read🙂

The storyline was a bit confusing but I was able to understand the storyline fairly quickly as the story progressed. The ending itself was worth the read!👍😃

I liked the story, but was annoyed with the way the story was divided.
In my opinion one book would have been better as the division in three is unnecessary
