This collection of haibun and senryu is exceptional. I was moved again and again by the clarity of the storytelling and the deeply personal reflections of French’s life. She is very generous and vulnerable in her haibun which ring true and honest. These are linked with senryu that really showcase the form’s ability to speak to the full range of human nature. This is a first rate book and one that is deserving of attention.
