This is a fantastic compilation of stories with just enough spookiness and creep factor to make you want to keep the lights on at night! If you want to scare yourself, in the best of ways, this collection is not to be missed!

Enjoyable second volume of smart horror shorts from JD McGregor. Chilling, disturbing tales such as "Father, Forgive Me" and "The Range" were standouts for me. Would recommend this to anyone who's a fan of Paul Tremblay, Brian Keene, or Bob Ford.

JD McGregor's writing style made reading this book a very pleasant experience for me. He has an elegant and concise way of wording things, and he is descriptive enough to draw his readers in without boring them with too many useless details. However, every detail written down has a significance, which makes reading his stories all the more entertaining and engaging. The stories themselves are short but incredibly gritty and terrifying - sometimes subtle in their horror, sometimes not so much - and they are an easy and relaxing read. As for the quality of the horror itself, all I can say is that by the time I finished this volume, I was overcome by a sense of fiction-induced paranoia that refused the leave me for the remainder of the day. My favourite story was the fifth one, called Saving Face, because I DID NOT SEE THAT PLOT TWIST COMING, and also because it left me with this empty, sort of disgusted feeling in my heart, which is exactly what one expects and wishes for when reading psychological horror - at least in my opinion. Overall, this volume was just as masterfully - if not MORE masterfully - written than the first one, and it filled me with all the wrong, gruesome feelings, just as I expected from an impeccably crafted horror anthology.

At long last J.D. McGregor's Devil's in the Details Volume 2 is here! I've been eagerly waiting for more since his first collection and this one did not disappoint. There's some great stuff in here, folks. Out of twenty stories in total I'd say at least 2/3 of them are really excellent, one is silly and stupid, and a few are good but not great. Some of my favorites were Restrain (McGregor's take on a classic stalker situation), Alone in the Dark (where we learn why drinking and driving is never a good decision), and Like Wolves.

J.D. McGregor definitely knows how to write a horror story. He loves to take an overused concept and give it a twist, like in the tale The Boy Knows Too Much. It's a possession story, but the possession takes a backseat to other, more immediate matters. There's another great example in Diamondback Ridge, which is about a series of unexplained disappearances near a small town. Sure, it would be easy to blame the simple townsfolk, but don't you think there's more to the story? McGregor does. My point here, folks, is that this is a delicious little collection for any fan of horror and I highly suggest you pick it up. Many thanks to the author for offering an early review copy. Keep 'em coming, Mister McGregor.

Couldn't wait for this release, and it did not disappoint! I sat and read straight through the book like a novel, in one sitting! My favs? The Monsters in Your Head, Wrong Place, Wrong Time, the hilarious Failsafe, Saving Face...ok I really loved'em all! This volume's stories seem more tightly wound, more intense, deeper? No matter, JD McGregor is officially a new favorite author-he is a "will most definitely read" for me! Give 'Details: Volume 2 (and Volume1!) a read; guarantee you'll like it!
