Battle #1
Battle Cry
Following a catastrophic patrol during the British Army’s bloodiest year in Afghanistan, Jess, an army medic, finds herself embroiled in the issues faced by two of her colleagues. Despite her attempts to fight her feelings, she finds herself drawn closer and closer to her Section Commander, Rix, with almost fatal consequences. Can their love survive the almost insurmountable obstacles that they face, and is it stronger than Army regulations and PTSD? Battle Cry tells the story of how love can grow from the most unexpected of places, and how the longest lasting, most life changing battle scars are not always those we can see.

Had to read as it was meant to be like our girl in a book❤️❤️……first half was fab, second half got slightly slow (had to give it four stars not three to keep the average rating up as not many reviews for this book)

Incredible debut novel from Rosie Jones. Not a book I would have been naturally drawn to with its military themes but I absolutely LOVED it. The book's pacy and engaging narrative captured my attention over two days. Completely swept away by the stories of Jess, Rix and Jase who felt like real people to me. I truly cared about what was happening to them and laughed and cried with them. Research is impeccable into army life, combat situations and the fall out following life in army service. The focus on mental health, support (or lack of) and recovery I felt was brilliantly handled and really important. The love story running through the book was wonderful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Incredible book from Rosie Jones. Only just had this book delivered at lunchtime today and I've not been able to put it down! Its not usually a book I would choose to read but I loved it from start to finish! Jess, Rix and Jase actually felt like real people to me ive laughed and cried with them throughout the book. I love how mental health and lack of help has been brought into it all as well and both good and bad times also has been well written. Thanks to the author for an amazing read cant wait to see what's next!

A brilliantly wrote book that gets you invested in the story and characters. The story is handled well and done with dignity. The characters feel like real people and you fall in love with them. You get hooked once you start. If you love the series Our Girl then you will love this book. This is my first Goodreads review but just had to say it

Really recommend this book to anyone who watched the TV series Our Girl.
I couldn't out the book down once I started reading it. A follow on would be amazing.

Absolutely brilliant read by this new author.
I could not put this book down. You become so connected to the characters and their emotions throughout. This book gives you a real insight into life on the front line.
It has the perfect balance of lighthearted humour and romance but also addresses some very real struggles faced by people working on the front line including PTSD.
I would highly recommend this book! I can’t wait to see what the author does next!

I've always loved the BBC series 'Our Girl' and always thought it would make a good book series.
Finally this book was released inspired by the show so of course I had to buy it!
Such a fantastic book, it kept me wanting to read to find out what happened next. I will definitely be buying and reading the whole series!
Full of action from the beginning.
