It's Naruse's first week of college, and he can't shake the feeling that he's falling behind. He's no longer the single star basketball player on the team, and Yuki has a ridiculous amount of older, more mature guys who seem into her....
I'll tell you this: I have always enjoyed this series. It's been one of my favorites, because the art is so pretty and the nature of coming-of-age stories is supposed to be messy and frustrating. But I'm also painfully aware of the fact that it draws out the miscommunication trope and puts it on repeat far too often.
The chapters of this book contain a real-life coming-of-age moment for Naruse, who was used to "being the best" in basketball, confident in his looks and the appreciation he got from girls, etc. Going from being the best in a familiar place to being mediocre in a larger environment with equally or more talented people is a harrowing experience for many teens. Unfortunately, this was framed through yet another bout of miscommunication for our leads. I like the realism in their stories of growing up and becoming a fully realized person, I just wish it focused a little more on that.
I still love the art and I'm glad that they continue to grow and change, and their relationship follows suit as they grow older, wiser, and more mature, but... please, I beg you, find something other than communication issues to be the driving factor.
This volume contains chapters 78-83, plus a side story.
I decided to post my review now rather then in each individual one. Honestly because I forgot lol.
This series is aggravating and addictive.
Dislikes 1. One random groping (aka sexual assault) and we're just supposed to accept it as if its normal. (Honestly, I don't know if it was a mistake grope or not. It wasn't really explained.) 2. Yuki, our female MC, is really stubborn. Too stubborn! It's so annoying. (But she cute tho)
Likes. 1. Romance is so freaking cute. 2. Naruze is so freaking cute. 3. Hakamada is so freaking cute.
Obviously my first choice is Hakamada. He's too adorable when he blushes and I . . . just. . . can't. . .
Read this if your can handle a really stubborn girl, very hot and adorable guys, cuteness overload, and the same old manga tropes.
It's so hard to find which chapter is from which volume but I think volume 14 includes chapters 77-83. I feel that this series is best read in small doses because marathoning it (like I did, because its been two years since I last read it and I have forgotten a lot) eventually becomes tiring and irritating. Haru Matsu Bokura was a better read overall (better male characters, no forcing and stuff, better friendships).
That was the most interested I’ve ever been in this series… the whole Suwa confession situation… how it affected everyone… How everyone dealt with it. Very good!!! And Hakamada… yeah I still love him lol How he snapped on Naruse in this volume… *swoons*
crazy how it is consistently bad but i hate leaving things unfinished. also i am in avoidance mode and this is giving me fake satisfaction of progress.
It feels very repetitive at this point and there are 9 more volumes?!? But there were also sweet moments like when he confesses his insecurities… and she just yells her love for him….
Don’t really have much to say here. It seems my feelings on this series are going to continue to stay the same. The stuff I don’t like I really don’t like and the stuff I like I love.
