We weren’t destined to be together, in fact we were strictly forbidden.
The moment my eyes land on my brother’s best friend, my childhood crush comes flooding back. If I was still the good little girl he remembered, I’d tell him exactly who I am. Instead, I only have one thing on my mind—showing him exactly the kind of woman I’ve become.
I’ve screwed up so many times in my life, it’s starting to feel like it’s all I know how to do. So what’s another notch in my belt of bad decisions. Besides, I’m not looking for forever—just the one thing I never thought I’d get. Him, for one night.
So after one delicious night of passion, I thought our fun was in the past... Until I walk in to my brother’s apartment and meet his new roommate—Hudson Slade. The look of shock doesn’t surprise me, but the regret in his eyes cuts deep. Even more surprising, the way my heart skips when our eyes meet.
The one time in my life I make the right decision, and fall for the kind of guy I deserve, I’m still stuck with disappointment because the right choice means betraying my brother. I’m not ready for this to end, I never will be.
This can only end in heartbreak—I know that. Deep down, I think he does too. He’s just not ready to admit it yet But it’s better to jump from a sinking ship than to drown with it.

This is the fifth and last book in the Slade Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is the youngest brother, Hudson's story. I haven't read all the other books in the series and I did not feel confused reading this book. A great story that was well written with well-developed characters and an engaging storyline. He was the elusive brother since he was away on deployment most of the time. Hudson & Deven will grab your heart in this story of forbidden love. Heartwarming and emotional this story will grab your heart and spin it around. The story is a page-turner and the characters are lovable. A great read and one that I would read again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hudson is back in his hometown after being honorably discharged from the Army. And there was no reason given why a young twenty-something was discharged from the Army, which was a bit odd. On his first night back, he ends up at the bar and bumps into a woman who he clicks with. Only to learn the next day, she gave him a fake name and was a bit younger than she said. Oh, and she's his friend's sister and completely off-limits when he learns he's moving in with them.
Deven has always had a crush on Hudson and now at eighteen and kicked out of her mother's house, she's living on her brother's couch and is surprised to see Hudson so soon. While Hudson tries to do what's right and stay away from her, the connection between the two is strong. But not quite strong enough to tell her brother. So when he walks in on them together when they forget to separate for the night, will their relationship survive?
Hudson and Deven get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.
I get Hudson and the brother were best friends before he moved, but it seemed like it was over a decade since they saw each other. This leads to the question, how old was Deven when they moved if she always had a crush on Hudson? I feel there were a lot of liberties taken with the timeline here and it made for some inconsistencies while reading the book. I also have an ick with either character being under eighteen and while Deven was eighteen, she still seemed very young. I was also wrong about the half-brother and I feel the author took a cop-out for making him go away.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Devin can not believe her luck when her childhood crush and her big brothers best friend Hudson walked into the bar, she’s sure he doesn’t recognise her, long gone is the little girl he once knew. It’s her one chance to seduce him and she’s not missing out on that, it’s a brief interlude in the life that she has created for herself. She back in her hometown after her mother sends her away, saying she tried to seduce her boyfriend if only she would believe the truth. Living with her brother isn’t too bad that is until she arrives home to find Hudson sitting on the sofa. It’s clear that their chemistry is going nowhere as much as he tries to fight it she tries to show him what they could be, will he ever see her as anything other than a dirty little secret or is he just going to leave her like everyone else in her life?
Hudson cannot believe he screwed his best friends little sister in a car park, he knows it can’t happen he is recovering from his time in the military but as much as he tries to forget that night he can’t, he haunted by what he knows he shouldn’t have. He knows his feelings for her are more than he has ever felt before but how can he make her his with her brother being his best friend they both stand to lose him. Will he ever admit to how he truly feels and risk his friendship or cast her aside breaking both their hearts?
Really liked this book Devin is trying to make up for her bad reputation and make a new start in her hometown and Hudson is trying to heal after what he’s seen in the military and deal with his PTSD. I totally understood where Devin was coming from woth her past behaviour, the people ages loved the most have all left and abandoned her. She is always waiting for the other show to drop. This could have triggers for some as it’s not totally safe. 4.5* read.
This is the fifth book in the Slade Brothers series by Alexis Winter. This forbidden romance story is well written and packed with a bit of drama, strong attraction, misunderstandings, secrets, explosive chemistry, suspense, betrayal, hot scenes, and a HEA.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
Family is everything to the Slade brothers. While each one has pushed boundaries in the journey to affirm his goals and dreams, each has found out that ultimately, his explorations of career, life and self, have led each brother back home to Colorado, to settle on the family land, and for some, to even step back into the family business—a brewery and more recently, a distillery. Hudson Slade, the youngest brother who enlisted in the military out of high school, has finally returned, disappointed that his military career has ended early because of injury, but honorably. So, with options for his future in mind—something that is adventurous, but serving the community—the local fire department or police department—and also helping his older brothers in the family business, Hudson has returned home to settle down and to begin the next stage of his life.
Family is also significant to Deven Danielle Olsen—or rather the dynamics of her family have certainly shaped her life. She and her brother spent their early years in a small town, living an idyllic life. She loved tagging after her older brother, Brad and his best friend, Hudson. But, her dad’s job change moved the family to not just a new setting, but to one without the small town supports. And with her dad’s death, and her brother’s move back to their home town, her world began to spin. And without her dad and her brother to act as a buffer, Deven’s relationship with her mother and school began to decline. So, when her mom threw her out of the house after a very difficult encounter with her mom’s boyfriend, Deven runs home—home to her brother and their small home town, looking for love.
Best Friend’s Sister brings to a conclusion the story of the Slade Brothers. This novel continues to weave a strong storyline with interesting characters and electrifying emotional connections. This fifth novel continues to follow the romantic developments of a family with secrets and unresolved heartache that need to be addressed to bring happiness and healing to all members of the family. Each novel can be read independently, but the Slades are so engaging that you will want to know each member and his story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.
ARC was given by Author throughout Booksprout. My review is given completely voluntarily. Best Friend's Sister by Alexis Winter this is book 5 in the Slade Brothers series. Rating 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat 🔥🔥 Ohhh this was so good she did it again 👏 I've absolutely been loving this series Alexis Winter has thrown everything under the sick at us during this series, each book has had it's own special topic. This one wasn't any different it's about leaving the military too soon, and falling in love with your best friend`s little sister.....it was a line he wasn't supposed to cross. Then Deven with her troubled heart, and a secret that she's kept from her brother.
Hudson is the least known of the brother to us, he is the youngest of the bunch, and has been away in the service for a few years. He was honorably discharged, and has returned back home to figure out what his wants to do now that he is a civilian again, he was expecting to retire from the military....so he is feeling a bit lost.
The first night in town he meets Deven at the famous town bar, he gets drunk, they dance and then get really hot and heavy... dirty steamy outside🔥🔥. Deven is 18 almost 19, and the younger sister of Hudson`s high school bestfriend Brad. They haven't seen each other in years. She always had a secret crush on Hudson.....she recognized him in the bar, he didn’t recognized her...he only saw a sexy attractive young woman that he felt an instant attraction to, and needed wanted to hookup with her, and she with him.
Deven is now an adult, but has been in a bit of trouble as a teenager, bad luck with boyfriends. So she's living with her brother now back home. I kind of felt bad for her, my heart broke at times during this story. Wasn't Hudson surprised when his best friend Brad introduced the hot woman who he hookup up with the other night as his sister...yeppp He made a promise to not look or lay a finger on her again, but that was really hard to keep when they kept feeling this intense attraction pull towards each other. Rules are made to be broken after all, and boy do they break them a few times!
Needless to say a lot happens in-between them during their road to HEA. This book made me laugh at times, and I cried in other moments. it was a steamy one, and getting to see all the other brothers, their beautiful strong wives and kids again was very special. Nice to see how far they all have come. The best ending of all the books for me so far, it was so good 📚🙌 ❤ 😍
No cliffhanger, can definitely be read as a standalone, but you don't want to miss out on the other Slade brother's stories. Yes I highly recommend it!!!
What a great story with very engaging characters. This is book 5 of a series but can be read as a stand alone. Hudson and Devon will captivate you with their tale of forbidden love This book was a definite page turner.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good read, a small town romance that involves a man who no longer serves in the military and a woman who seems to have her own amount of mess ups. Their chemistry is hot and it was hard to put the book down. I strongly recommend this book.
This was a good read. Hudson comes back home and the first night he sleeps with Deven. She lied about her name so he was surprised by who she really was. Of course they fall in love and the brother finds out. Thankfully in the end everything works out and they get their happy ending.
What a great romance. The characters are vibrant and the plot is original. Seven has a few rough edges, and Hudson is the perfect guy to smooth them. This book has an awesome ending, and the author wraps up the series with a big bow. Happy ☺reading 📚!
Ms. Alexis Winter has just impressed me with this impossible to put down installment to the Slade Brothers.
Best Friend's Sister focuses on Hudson and Deven, his best friend, Brad's, Sister. Returning from the Military is not an easy thing to adjust to and as Hudson finds his way, it leads him to the beautiful Deven.
Deven has returned to her home town to begin her life over, away from a horrific situation, and is temporarily staying with her older Brother, Brad.
Discover what happens when these two exquisitely crafted characters reunite after so long apart. Chemistry, lust as well as drama to spare, will be found inside this terrifically written romance.
I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Best Friend's Sister in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion.
I promise you that everything Ms. Winter's publishes is pure perfection.
This is the 5th book in the series and it can be read as a stand-alone. Deven sees her brother’s best friend Hudson in a bar he doesn’t recognize her and she gives him a different name. Sparks fly and the share a steamy night together. However, she is surprised when she visits her brother’s place and learns that Hudson is his new roommate. Can they stay away from each other or will their relationship hurt her brother. Fast-paced with loads of drama, twists and turns and amazing chemistry. I really liked it.
This book was very entertaining to read. Had to laugh at parts of it and then teared up at other parts. Hudson hooked up with Deven in the most obvious place for a small town. She has always had a crush on Hudson while growing up and Hudson did not recognize her as his friends little sister. The first time together was earth shattering for both Deven and Hudson. The second time meeting Deven was after he already promised Brad he would move into the other bedroom in the apartment he was renting not knowing the woman he hooked up with was his sister. I can only imagine how they both felt by betraying Brad. Brad was protecting his sister because in the past she has not always made the right decisions. I hope you enjoy this story of Hudson Slade as much as I have. Can not wait for her next book.

First, I didn't like Deven...at all. To me, she was a liar and a schemer. She kept referring to herself as an adult, as a woman (even though she was just 18 years old), but how many "women" use fake ID's and mislead guys by using their middle names (because they know that using their real first names would blow their cover)? She had sex with Hudson, knowing full well who he was, and knowing full well that her didn't recognize her.
Hudson Slade returned home after being honorably discharged from the Army, but he didn't have any idea what he was going to do with his life. He wasn't ready to build on his family's property, and he couldn't crash with any of his brothers and their families... so when he ran into his old friend, Brad--who was also looking for a roommate--it seemed perfect. Until her got to the apartment and realized his one-night stand from the bar was Brad's little sister Deven, and she was staying there, too.
Every time Deven claimed to be an adult, she'd say or do something childish and selfish. She was just annoying. Hudson was kind of annoying, too. He kept complaining about being tempted by Deven, but he didn't do anything about it...like move out.
Then, there was this thing that ran throughout the series...the mysterious half-brother who would send notes through the mail--and even once left a note on one brother's truck--about how he'd wanted what was rightfully his. That was such a letdown. Why even put it in the books at all?
On top of all of this, the typos and inconsistencies were irritating.
It's hard to like a book when you don't care for one of the main characters. But the other brothers, especially Colton, helped this one a lot.
Deven is 18 years old and using a fake ID when she runs into her brother's friend, Hudson who has just left the military and returned home. He doesn't recognize her because he hasn't seen her since she was a kid and she doesn't give him her real first name when the meet at the bar. They have a quicky in the parking lot, then run into each other the next day at her brother's apartment where the jig is up on her identity.
Hudson, trying to be a good friend, promises to keep his distance from Deven, even though he's still hot for her. Deven, however, as 18 year olds often do, refuses to consider any possible consequences to the repeat performances she consistently tries to tempt Hudson into.
Deven is just a character I can't stand. She only cares about what she wants and has no consideration for the brother who took her in or what her selfishness could do to his friendship. And, at least at this point, for her it's just sex with Hudson she wants. It's not like she has any feelings for him outside of lust.
I just don't think a character who is this self centered is one I want to have an HEA.

Hudson Slade is back home after being discharged from the Army. He didn't expect to come home this soon. He stopped by his brothers house and was offered to stay with them. He doesn't want to intrude. He bumps into his friend Brad. Brad works at the distillery. He offers for him to stay with him in his two bedroom apartment. So he makes arrangements to meet up with him the next day. But that evening, he goes to the bar and hooked up with this girl Danielle. They get it on in his truck. He figured he may never see her again. But surprise, who does he bump into at Brad's? Brad's little sister, Deven/Danielle. She is also surprised. They don't let on about what happened. She sleeps on the couch, and Hudson gets the bedroom. They try to hide their feelings from Brad. He works the third shift at the factory, and it gives them the time to be together. They hate sneaking around. Hudson made a promise to Brad that he would not touch Deven. But he has feelings and an attraction to her. He actually is falling in love with her. She has the same feelings. She has been a wild child since she was thirteen. So her family has no confidence in her on settling down. She got a job working for Destiny Slade at her boutique. Destiny and Deven get along well. She finally decides she wants to tell Brad and not sneak around. They don't have anything to do with each other for two weeks. But finally give into their feelings. He takes her to his bedroom, but Brad comes home out of the blue and catches them. He punches Hudson and throws Deven off of him when she tries to intervene. She hits her head on the nightstand. Hudson goes to her. Brad is so mad he tells them to pack their stuff up and get out. He feels betrayed by both of them. Hudson and Deven move into the motel room, and he tells her how much he loves her and can't live without her. She admitted she has the same feelings. He gets her an engagement ring. He proposed to her, and she says yes. In the meantime, Brad called his mother, and he told her she hasn't changed her ways. Brad doesn't know the truth of why Deven was thrown out by her mom. Her boyfriend tried to rape Deven when she was living with them. Carlos lied to her mom. He told Deven came onto him. Hudson came to the apartment in time when he heard that Carlos was with Deven, and he knew it was going to happen to her. He got there in time to pull him off of her and beat the poor man to an inch of his life. Hudson swore that he would take care of her forever. Great story of two people who didn't know where their future was going. But after they met, They would have each other. Loved both characters. Another great story by Alexis Winter.
Best Friend’s Sister is the 5th and final book in the Slade Brothers series. Before reading this book, I actually went back and read all of the other books in the series- you in no way have to do this, as it can be read as a stand alone, but getting to know all the other Slade brothers and get more insight to some of the storyline can definitely be beneficial.
This book is about Hudson Slade- who is the youngest Slade brother that has been away in the military and Deven “Danielle” Olsen, who is the younger sister of a good friend of Hudson’s from high school. Hudson is just coming home after being discharged from the Army, while Deven is staying with her brother Brad after being kicked out of her mom’s home. They obviously haven’t seen each other in years and so Hudson unknowingly hooks up with Deven one night- only to find out the next day who she really is. So begins their back and forth battle between giving into what they know is a relationship like neither has experienced before and keeping true to their word to Brad and staying far away.
Hudson will make you swoon with his thoughtfulness and protectiveness and you will see Deven blossom from the troubled 18 year old she was to a semi more mature but definitely more responsible person. I liked their story, as I did with all the other Slade brothers books but I was also left feeling like something was missing. I suppose that is to be expected with these books being on the shorter side and under 300 pages. I just felt like maybe the characters weren’t fully explained and some things were just thrown in without any other explanation- like we are never told exactly why Hudson had been discharged from the military. He obviously was not expecting it as the premise of him in this book is that he is trying to figure out what he wants to do and where he wants to end up, yet there doesn’t seem to be any reason that is explained or shown as to why that happened with the exception of them slightly glossing over that he has nightmares. So we are to assume he has some type of PTSD but we don’t know why and then he never actually has any nightmares and it is never brought up again. There were a few other things that didn’t fully make sense to me but all in all I enjoyed getting Hudson’s story and finally getting the ending to the whole mystery half brother storyline (which admittedly could have been cut from all the books).
For the short read that it is- you will get it all; the love connection, the drama, the HEA, but because it is a shorter book you will also get some gaps and glossed over storyline.
I received a free ARC copy in exchange for a honest review.
This is first book I have read by Alexis Winter but it definitely won't be the last. Being book 5 in the series I was a little worried that I might lose something not reading the prior 4 books. This definitely wasn't the case. The series is about each of the 5 brothers each finding love.
In book 5, Best Friend's Sister, we meet the final Slade brother Hudson. The woman he wants most in the world is the one he promises his best friend, Brad, that he won't ever touch. She is Brad's little sister Deven.
Hudson and Deven are insatiable and combustible when they are together. They are also so sweet with each other. The way she explains her relationship to her boss and the way he talks about her to his brother's reveal how their relationship grows to become everything. She also brings out Hudson's protective side when her past shows up to hurt her again.
The sibling relationships are very well written. Deven and Brad have the typical brother/sister relationship. They throw digs at each other which coming from anyone else would be offensive. For them it's loving. Also the fact that a brother is always very protective of his sister and it is definitely true in this case. Whenever Hudson gets together with his brothers, especially since he is the youngest of the brothers, their teasing is humorous. I can picture them growing up with all the ribbing between the boys.
This book can be read alone, although if you haven't read the others like me, you will want to go back and read them. The brothers feel like friends I have known and I want to know their backstory.
No spoiler but the tension built up towards the end of the book had me holding my breath. No worries though, it does end happily ever after.
I received this ebook ARC from the author on the condition that I write an honest review. In this book, we finally meet Hudson Slade, youngest of the handsome Slade brothers. He has been overseas fighting for his country, and is now discharged. He is undecided about what he wants to do with his life. He stays with one of his brothers, but he is not comfortable there because he wants his own place and privacy. He goes out for a drink at the local bar, and there he meets a beautiful woman, and they have a one night stand. Deven is a single woman who has had a rough life, and she comes to live with her brother to try and straighten her life and make some changes. She has run away from her mother and her mother’s boyfriend, because he tried to rape her. She goes out to a bar where she meets a handsome young man and has a one night stand with him. Hudson does not recognize her, but she knows who he is, because she has had a crush on him since she was thirteen years old. As luck would have it, Hudson rents the spare bedroom of Deven’s brother, and the complications develop, because she is living there also. He is told to never touch her, but their attraction is too strong. They develop a hidden relationship behind her brother’s back. Her brother eventually catches them in bed and runs them both off. They continue their relationship, but problems occur. There are several misunderstandings, and a near rape again. Eventually all is resolved and Hudson and Deven obtain their HEA, with a beautiful but scary epilogue. I’ve read several books by Ms Winter and love how well written her books are, and how well developed her characters are, and I’ll always recommend her books.

This is the story of the youngest Slade brother. I have enjoyed this entire series, and this last installment did not disappoint!! Hudson has just been honorably discharged from the service and comes back to his hometown. He’s unsure of what he wants to do with his future, but he is happy to be near his family again. If he wants it, there is a job waiting for him at the family brewery and a plot of land for him to build a home. Until he knows what he wants to do, he’s going to consider all his opinions. His priority is finding a place of his own, rather than stay at his brother’s home. He runs into his old friend Brad, who is looking for a roommate. They make plans to meet up the next day. That night, Hudson hits the local bar and flirts with a sexy woman, leading them back to his truck for some fun. Deven has had a crush on Hudson since she was a kid. When she sees him at the bar, she decides to go for it. He doesn’t recognize her, so she uses her middle name so he doesn’t make the connection to who she is. She has just moved back to town because of trouble back home with her mother and her loser boyfriend. She’s just trying to find her way and get up on her own two feet. Imagine both her and Hudson’s surprise the next day when they are both in Brad’s apartment about to be roommates!! Deven just happens to be Brad’s baby sister!! Brad warns Hudson to stay away from Deven because she’s had a troubled past and bad history with men. Well, what could go wrong here?!?
I'll start this review with a TRIGGER WARNING in relation to the attempted rape scenes of which there are two. They are contextual to the story and not graphic but some may, understandably, find them a problem.
This is my first Alexis Winter book and I will be adding them to my permanent reading list for the future. The style of writing suited me, the pace of the story was good with it not being just about the two main characters; there were sub-plots going on with the support cast who have obviously been met in the previous books in the early books in the series. Even with the additional extras the story still flowed effortlessly from chapter to chapter without stalling awkwardly as some books do.
The main characters were both world damaged and the chemistry between them sizzled through the kindle easily. It was unclear as to what the age gap was as I couldn't find his age in the text not that it matters between consenting adults. Most of the cast were family members and those they had picked up along the way through the series of books together with their children and then for this book an additional friend with his extended family who were central to the story line.
The book was well written and I found that I didn't want to put the book down when I was interrupted!
I don't have anything bad to say about this book and recommend that you add it to your summer reading list but you should probably read the rest of the series first, which I haven't! xx

Once I started reading this book. I couldn't hardly put it down. It was steamy from the beginning and just kept getting better. This book brought out a lot of emotions for me. It had me excited, upset, laughing, swooning, and emotional. Hudson comes home from being discharged from the military and goes back he grew up and his family to figure out the next chapter of his life. Enter Deven his best friends younger sister (who has had a crush on Hudson since she was in Elementry school) and his best friend Brad who he hasn't seen since he was in high school because they had moved away before their senior year. Then all kids of memories and sparks fly in a lot of different ways. Hudson totally made me swoon. I like his loyalty and need to try to do the right thing. He has family values which totally makes me swoon. This book was such a wonderful read. I am still thinking about it vividly while I write this review. If you like a little drama, emotional storylines, and a love story with swooning steam with a little alpha mixed in then I totally recommend that you read this book. This book is part of a standalone book series about the slate brothers. You can read this book by itself it is a completed book. After reading this book I decided to by all the Slade Brothers books so I read the other brothers stories. I can't wait to dive into those.

This is a likeable book about the youngest Slade brother. I have really enjoyed this series, and this book really delivers on the hot romance between Hudson Slade and Deven Olsen, baby sister to Hudson’s best friend Brad. When Hudson is discharged from the military, he decides to come back home to get his head right and decide what he wants to do with his life. His first night home he goes to the local watering hole for a beer, when the most gorgeous, sexy woman walks in and approaches him. She introduces herself as Danielle and she and Hudson have a few drinks, dances, and then decide to hookup in Hudson’s borrowed truck. It is a most memorable experience for them both.
Brad needs a roommate and Hudson decides to come stay with him and help him out. As he is moving in, he is surprised to see Danielle at Brad’s apartment.....until Brad mentions that this is his sister Deven, who Hudson hasn’t seen in years and didn’t recognize at the bar. Deven Danielle Olsen knew if she introduced herself as Deven, Hudson would tuck tail and run away from her as quickly as possible. Brad warns him to keep his hands to himself and threatens him with bodily harm if he messes with his little sister. Well, sometimes an attraction is so strong that all rules are thrown out the window. There are always consequences to our actions, and this certainly holds true for Hudson and Deven.

The last of the Slade brothers finally returns home after leaving the military ready to settle into civilian life. Hudson doesn't know what he wants to do with his life but his decision doesn't need to be made any time soon. Devon walks into a bar and sees Hudson who was her older brother's friend when they lived in the same town. She crushed on him when she was eight and never thought she'd get a night with him. She introduces herself using her middle name since he doesn't recognize her. After a quick encounter they go their separate ways until she walks into her brother's apartment where she's staying. Hudson is there to be Brad's roommate. They have a bit of a push/pull relationship as they try to deny their feelings because Brad does not want Hudson to touch his sister. Hudson was a really nice guy that always tried to do the right thing, Devon had been a wild child before moving in with her brother. What made her move in with Brad will make your blood boil. She's now trying to become a responsible adult. Their chemistry is off the chart but they have a rocky path on the way to their HEA. The half brother story line that was in previous books finally comes to a conclusion. I am sorry all the brothers are now married. I think there needs to be a Christmas book set in the future that catches us up with all the families.
Hudson is the youngest of the 5 Slade brothers and has just returned home after his military discharge. He doesn’t want to put out his family so he decides to move in to an apartment with a former high school friend, Brad, who had moved away years ago and had now returned. The night before he moved he went alone to a bar and hooked up with a girl he met, Daisy, and had sex in his truck. The next day when he moved in with Brad he discovered that Daisy was Devon, Brad’s 18 year old sister who was temporarily sleeping on Brad’s couch. Brad warned him that Devon had gotten into trouble as a teenager and he told Hudson that his sister was definitely off-limits to him. Despite this warning Devon continues to flirt with Hudson and they become closer. Will Devon’s past and her overprotective brother ruin her relationship with Hudson? Can Hudson and Devon overcome all of the obstacles thrown in their way?
I thoroughly enjoyed this well written story and I could hardly put the book down once I started reading. The author had me really into the story and hoping for a happy ending for Hudson and Devon. I especially loved the last few chapters where I got to see more of the Slade family that I had read about in previous books even though this book could certainly be enjoyed by itself.

After Hudson is honorary discharged form the army he isn't sure what to do with his life upon returning to his home town. After an enjoyable night upon his return he never though he would meet his one night stand again. Deven has had a crush on Hudson since she was a little girl. Since Hudson doesn';t remember her and she is already doing something she shouldn't be doing she decides to enjoy her night. Hudson is offered the chance to get out of his brother place and is going to live with his childhood friend. Upon moving in her learns that his roommates sister is crashing there until she gets her self together. Neither Hudson or Deven ever expected to see each other again. Hudson will muster ever power he can to make sure he doesn't give into his impulse and have another taste of Deven. Deven will work her hardest to get another taste of what she never though she could get. Will Hudson and Deven be able to resist? Will the past that Deven is trying to escape from catch up with her? Will Hudson be able to keep his friendship and have Deven as well? I was happy to see that the other Slade's were in the story. I definitely enjoyed this story.

This was a great read by Alexis Winter and its book 5 in the Slade Brothers series. If you enjoy steamy forbidden romance you will love this story. Hudson has come home after an honorable discharge from the military and on his first night home he meets a beautiful young woman. The attraction is instant and they hook up. The next day he goes to meet with his buddy about moving in the spare bedroom. He is shocked when his best friend's little sister shows up and it's the girl from last night. Deven has crushed on Hudson since she was a child so when they met last night she just wanted one night with him. Hudson didn't recognize her so she gave him her middle name. She has a troubled past that she is dealing with after her mom kicked her out. She has quite the wild past and she has come to stay with her brother Brad to get her life back on track. As Hudson and Deven share an apartment with Brad, it becomes harder and harder to resist each other. An affair begins and they have to navigate their feelings while trying to hide the affair from her brother. This story has it all-drama, suspense, steam, jealousy and angst. Will her brother find out and will he ever accept them as a couple? Definitely recommend.
Hudson is back home after being honorably discharged from the military. He isn't sure what to do next and he wants to give his brother and sister-in-law some alone time so he goes to a local bar. Deven walks into the bar and immediately notices Hudson. He makes his way over to her and when she realizes that he doesn't remember her she uses her middle name to introduce herself. They end up in his truck hooking up before the night is over. However the next day Hudson gets a surprise when he goes over to his best friend's place to look at it as a potential place to live and runs into the woman from the night before. Turns out its Deven his friend's little sister. Sparks fly between them and Hudson tries to stick to his guns and not touch her again. But the temptation got to be too much for the both of them. What will her brother do when he finds out? Will Deven tell him why her mother threw her out? Can they be together?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I liked this book. I enjoyed it enough I went ahead and bought books 1-4 to add to my library. I want to read about the rest of the Slade Brothers. They all seem so great in this book, I definitely wanted more.
Hudson is the ultimate hot guy, add in the manners and the ALPHA attitude and you’ve pushed all my feel good buttons. He was absolutely easy to fall for.
Deven is your typical troubled girl who wants to be better. She knows what she wants and she’s going to take it. Consequences be damned. She was a very likable girl.
I found some of the back and forth between these two very tedious and repetitive. However, that being said, there was some of their conversations that had me laughing out loud. They’re definitely good together.
WoWZAme the heat in this book is HOT, HOT, HOT! I may have blushed a time or two, which is a good thing. I loved the heat. Alexis Winter is definitely good at the steamy scenes.
I can’t wait to read more with the Slade Brothers. I very much look forward to getting to know all the family. Intimately I hope!
