The headmaster is dead. The plague vampires have been released. And Devon is now locked inside the catacombs with four hungry vampires and no means of escape.
Maeve needs to find help, but she quickly discovers that help is out of reach. A new barrier surrounds Spellcrest Academy, effectively cutting off its inhabitants from the rest of the world.
So, Maeve is forced into a new mission to save the home she’s grown to love so much. Enlisting her friends and what’s left of her family, Maeve develops a plan to dethrone the immortal tyrants.
It won’t be easy. And it will be a miracle if everyone survives.
However, the choice is clear—no risk is too great to save the ones she loves, even at the cost of throwing herself in the face of mortal danger.
Maeve stands with family and friends to fight the most dangerous enemy the Academy has ever faced in the gut-wrenching sixth book of the Spellcrest Academy series.

I have lived and breathed the Spellcrest Academy series over the last month or so. Instead of reading all the new releases and trying to catch up on arcs and review copies, all I wanted to do was keep reading Maeve's story. It's such an addicting fast-paced series. And I loved that we're seeing a few parallels to the Angeles Vampire series. Which I inhaled before picking up this one. I almost didn't pick up Spellcrest because of how the last Angeles book ended but I love Michael's writing and decided to check it out and give it a chance while waiting for the next Vampire book that he announced recently. And I had meant to spread the series out until the end of the year. But, now, as you can clearly see, here we are and there's no more books (currently) and I'm sad. But... on the plus side, one thing about reading and supporting most Indie authors, there aren't years between books. Sometimes you even get multiple books a year. 👀📚👀📚👀📚
S/N: If you read the books on Kindle, Michael has been offering a bonus chapter at the end of each book. I saved them all up until I finished Chrysalis and I'm glad I did because they make more sense that way. Just a suggestion. 😊
This series has been totally addictive and just gets better and better with each passing book! This sixth book is just awesome and a little darker then the rest but still oh so good! Carrying on from the previous book we dive straight into the action and do not stop! You get sucked into this world and I have enjoyed watching the characters grow and develop! I cannot recommend this series enough!
Unbelievable characters and how they work together. Maeve and her friends and family have to stand together to find an extremely dangerous enemy. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop until I found out the ending.
Great series, I have read all of them so far, just finished Chrysalis. I loved it, it was fast-paced and hard, to put down. It continues the story of Maeve and all her friends in the previous books. I defiantly want to read the next book when it comes out. Thank you, Mr. Pierce for your wonderful imagination!
I love how everything gets wrapped up and I have no unanswered questions but I feel like there's something weird going on with the headmistress I just don't know what yet
The vampires take over Spellcast Academy, and cut off communication to the outside. The headmaster is dead, and the vampires plan to rebuild their city.
This is the sixth book in the Spellcrest Academy series and is by far the darkest book in the series. As usual, it starts right after the previous book, Catacomb, ends with Devon sent to the Catacombs, where some vampires are still feeding on the late headmaster, leading to Maeve (and me!) wondering whether he is still alive. Meanwhile, Maeve is under the control of vampires Dawn and blonde Imogene. She is taken to the tower where she meets Elion Blackwater, chairman of the Vampire Order.
Elion decides to make Maeve his private blood fountain. In addition, by Elion threatening Maeve's family and friends, Maeve is forced to work with Dawn and find all the other seam daggers at Spellcrest. Elion has put Spellcrest Academy under a "dome" that cuts Spellcrest off from the rest of the world. That also includes no access to cellphone towers, rendering cellphones useless. (Poor Razielle)
That sets up the various storylines in this epic book. The fast pace of the action in this book is amazing because there is no lag in the various storylines. It seems that everything is happening concurrently and I had to binge read the book because I couldn't put it down. Surprisingly, I highly recommend this book.
I received an ARC of this e-book to read and write an honest review. And I have also already pre-ordered my copy of the final publication book. And I love the cover.
I dove into this book anxious to read how this series comes to a conclusion. I felt that this story reached a satisfying end. I enjoyed each of these characters as I watched them grow and mature. They each had an inner strength which kept them going in spite of the challenges they faced. I’m happy with those who paired off into couples in the end. All the action scenes were well done. I had no problem keeping up with what was going on. The evil ones were vanquished but not all leaving some bits and pieces for perhaps another story in the distant future, but nothing too serious. To Michael Pierce I say “Well done!”
Maeve’s second year at Spellcrest is coming to an end. She is now facing plaque vampires that have taken control of everything. Her family and friends will suffer if she is caught helping the rebellion. An epic battle that leaves you wondering if anyone will survive.
I enjoyed the story. The characters are growing and getting a bit complex. Wonder what the next 2 years will bring to Maeve and her friends. It seems that trouble follows her everywhere and she might never know peace. Love the year end battles.
We have action, suspence and the story unfolds more. Maeve needs help the plague vampires are in control. Locked in with no way to commuicate, what can she do? Can she find away? What will the vampires do? Can she protect her friends? Will all be lost?

Chrysalis by Michael Pierce is an amazing story to read. This is book number six in this amazing series that I have loved reading and can not wait to see what this author will write about next. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires, magic and fantasy.
